49s wood city is the largest wood building
51s in finland
53s mainly made of locally and sustainably
55s sourced spruce
57s wood city contains more wood than any
59s other building in the entirety of

63s most of the building is actually made of

66s concrete foundation and the decorative

69s believe it or not more than 75 percent
72s of finland is covered in forest and this
74s bountiful amount of nature was the
76s inspiration for the design of wood city
78s with its organic flowing lines and
80s columns of trees
82s although the architecture of wood city
83s was designed to promote relaxation
86s creativity and inspiration with its open
88s work spaces plenty amounts of natural
91s light and the breathtaking views of the
94s surrounding city and harbor

294s supercell is our open workspaces
297s that's a key element of our culture
300s see at supercell we have minimal
302s hierarchy that means that every single
304s supercellian is given from day one the
307s trust and independence to do what they

313s no one not even the ceo has their
315s private office
317s but everyone works at an open workspace
320s that's designed for their team's needs
324s now having said that

333s and what would you say are the most
335s important
336s like attributes or things that make a
339s good game producer
341s ah that's a good question i think it's
343s uh
344s the ability to you know be meticulous uh
348s or very organized and also to kind of be
352s able to uh facilitate uh discussions and
356s be able to uh
358s understand people and relate to people
360s and you know create good relationships
362s with the team so when you make decisions
364s as a team what is like how do you decide
367s yeah i think obviously when we design or
370s unplan what we're doing next we do this
372s for the players when we start doing
375s things then obviously everyone has their
377s own roles everyone has their own
379s responsibility
380s and then as a team we decide on what we
384s should do what makes sense
386s you probably had some kind of
388s assumptions or expectations about what
391s working
392s at supercell could be like what were
394s those
396s expectations i had which were
398s absolutely kind of met was that
401s everyone's incredibly good at what they
402s do
403s um that
405s everyone's very passionate about the
406s games that we make
409s and
410s the expectation that i had that didn't
412s turn out to be so true was that
413s everything would be completely kind of
416s nicely organized and everyone would be
418s completely confident that they knew what
420s they were
422s because yeah it's it's a very kind of
425s a very chaotic very free form and very
428s sort of independent place to work
429s what would you say makes a
432s a designer a game designer a great game
434s designer
436s curiosity is probably the most important
438s thing just
440s thinking i wonder
442s what if this
443s and then having the sort of
446s the determination to sort of follow that
449s thread and see where it goes because
452s for me like the thing that makes
454s this type of games we make
456s sustainable for the very long term
459s is surprising people
461s it's making sure that our players don't
464s always know what's coming next and that
466s when an update lands something isn't
469s just
469s exciting because they've been waiting
471s for it it's exciting because they never
473s imagined it it's a game designer working
476s in clash royale or with clash royale
479s what makes you most excited
481s oh man
484s i mean
485s i feel incredibly lucky to be working on
487s this game because it's
488s it's got
490s you know
491s years of uh
493s of strong
495s history behind it but
497s it has
499s one of the most
502s easily playable core gameplay of
504s anything i've ever worked on it's it's
506s incredibly fun to just pick up and play
509s and
510s yeah the
512s the hope that
514s i can help kind of bring that to even
516s more people and
518s uh
519s used that kind of uh
522s that
522s gift that the the people on this team
525s who came before me who've kind of
527s given me is uh yeah is really exciting
531s how would you describe
532s what makes a great team what elevates a
536s good team and makes it into a great one
539s that's a good question i think it's all
541s about respecting each other's
543s differences like it's so important for
545s the team to be able to talk about
547s anything and feel safe to express you
549s know any feedback any thoughts that they
551s have even if they disagree
553s um and we we talk about disagree and
555s commit a lot here um so i think it's
558s it's the sign of a great team is
560s actually that trust that you build
562s together by
563s through
564s sharing
566s anything that's on your mind and not
568s feeling like you would be judged or
570s punished for it and beyond that i think
572s working well together being able to
574s communicate well
576s and
576s yeah generally respect and trust
579s if you would describe the working

582s at super slim in your team how would you

588s both at supercell and on the team
590s collaborative thoughtful

593s that's that's how i would describe it
595s and that's been my experience
597s let's say there's a new
599s game feature and that means that
601s utilities design something new how do

604s how do you start where do you begin can
606s you talk us about the process well of
609s course we work very
611s like um intensely with the team so we we
614s collaborate a lot so ui is also some
617s area that every everybody like the
620s coders and and also game designers also
622s work on and comment and and kind of come
624s up with concepts sometimes so
626s so it's kind of like a collaborative
628s thing
629s and also when we play test then we also
631s might get some
632s feedback and some
634s do some adjustments and
636s and and those kind of things but where i
638s start this basically discussing the
640s future what we're going to make
642s and then coming up with some kind of
643s like a first
645s draft design of how the future would
648s work and what's the loop and and
650s what player must understand
652s and then on top of that we also try to
655s think like visually what how how does it
657s how do we want it to look like
659s and
660s from that we then
662s work on the assets maybe we need some
665s some art and
667s characters or things like that or
669s and then after that we polish it and add
671s animations and things like that so
673s it's kind of like a
676s process that kind of evolves when do you
678s know that you've
680s made something successful that your
682s decisions were correct
684s when can you be proud of your when i
686s hear like um good feedback from the
689s players that's always the best like if
690s there's like a
692s players tell that this was great then
693s and like of course that's the best then
695s you know that you you've done something
697s right
698s that's a that's the main goal
701s what if you get angry feedback
703s then we go back and try to fix it and
705s make it better okay
