Greetings Call of Duty: Mobile Community! Last week we started the community update by highlighting our upcoming Stage 4 of the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship 2021, which is starting this weekend with South Asia and the Middle East’s tournaments, but today we must highlight something that is dear to this community – a free katana. It is finally here and accessible to all players!
First, some context for anyone who may not remember or has recently joined the community. Back in Season 3: Escape from Tokyo, we released this beautifully designed and highly thematic season based around samurai, ninjas, and warriors representing Japan. It was a season full of style and vibrant colors, but also swords. Everywhere you looked in our art or trailers you saw katanas but we didn’t have any way for all players to grab without purchasing some through crates or draws.
Even here, you have the gorgeously designed PP19 Bizon – Yokai wielded by Spectre – Ninja and even in this image focused clearly on the character and PP19 Bizon there are still katanas present. Our teams heard this request and scrambled to try to find a way to release a free/grindable katana to all players. Now, in Season 6: The Heat the katana is finally here for you to claim!
We are overjoyed to be able to fulfill that request by offering this happened Skill featured event! Yes, that may all sound a bit dramatic just for a katana, but it is the perfect example of how much our designers and developers care about the community. It has been three seasons and they still did not forget this request or stop working on ways to try to adjust the already planned out architecture of the season to make this happen.
Enjoy the weapon and show us that you still care by giving it one of the highest completion ratings of any event! Now, for the rest of the update we’ll just say it is rather short one all things considered. The next community update coming your way will celebrate the launch of Season 7 and this one will serve as a recap for all things Season 6: The Heat. Let’s jump in!

Undead Siege
We've talked about Undead Siege a few times and the limited time aspect of it, and today we are happy to share that it will extend into Season 7! We are still continually examining the mode and the reception to it to determine how long it should stay and what we can do in the future to make it even better, but for now it is here with no immediate end date.
Thanks for the positive reception and support of the mode! We have seen all of the feedback, all of the discussions, and all of the memes, and hope it is something that we can keep expanding. Best of luck to everyone still grinding out the Aether Crystal completionist camo and now you’ve got some more time to work on it 😉.
New Functional Weapons - Rytec AMR & MX9
There are two weapons to grab this season and at this point you all know all about them, so this section is just a reminder to grab them before the season ends. You have the powerful and dynamic sniper rifle the Rytec AMR and the versatile and reliable smg the MX9! Info on where they are available below.
You can snag this new sniper rifle from two places right now: the Sharpshooter Seasonal Challenge and the Abyssal State Mythic Drop. Both of which are available for a little while longer with the Sharpshooter Seasonal Challenge ending the soonest once we transition over into Season 7. However, if you want to go the Mythic route the Rytec AMR – Nautilus is available to snag until early September.
The MX9 was the first weapon available to grab this season due to it being available through the Season 6: The Heat Battle Pass! The free version is available at tier 14 or you can snag the However, if you are feeling fiery there is a new version out in the just released Wetlands Warrior draw called the MX9 – Heartless. Check them all out in-game now and grab them before it is too late!
Seasonal Challenges
There were many seasonal challenges to go after in Season 6 and with a variety of different rewards to grab, like the Rytec AMR we were just discussing. This section is a “best of the best” style recap showing some of the best challenges to focus on for interesting or hefty rewards.
Sharpshooter
This seven-part seasonal challenge is also focused on Battle Royale, except as the name suggest it is all about using sniping rifles. In general, you can fly through most of these challenges just by getting kills in Battle Royale and by using sniper rifles at long-range. However, there is also one of the more challenging ones since it requires the use of snipers + specific perks or the Locus with some attachments.
Doing all of this will bring you one of the biggest Seasonal Challenge hauls of Battle Pass XP in S6 with 23,000 XP! However, of course you can also unlock the following rewards:
- (Uncommon) Spray – Fiona on Vacay
- (Rare) .50 GS – Mosaic
- (Rare) Calling Card – Summer Standoff
- New Functional – Rytec AMR
Martyrdom
This six-part seasonal challenge was one of the first to launch in Season 6 and it fittingly brings a brand-new perk to Call of Duty: Mobile! Martyrdom is a love it or hate perk that has you dropping grenades whenever you are killed. That means you always have a chance to get revenge from the grave and to greatly annoy your enemies, especially if they are using melee close range tactics. This challenge offers up 16,000 Battle Pass XP on top of the following rewards:
- 40 Weapon XP Cards
- (Uncommon) AK-47 – Macaw
- (Rare) Avatar – From Dog, With Love
- New Perk – Martyrdom
Machete Madness
This seven-part seasonal challenge is similar to the previous two where it is designed to highlight and encourage you test the newest melee weapons. These tasks are all about Multiplayer, getting kills with melee weapons, general kills with any weapon, and using the Wrench (available at Tier 1 in Richtofen’s Rewards). By doing all of this you’ll snag the new Machete melee weapon, 19,000 Battle Pass XP, and the following rewards:
- (Uncommon) Striker - Macaw
- (Rare) Spray – Sword Swipe
- New Weapon – Machete
Final Notes
To keep this update short we aren’t going to focus on any particular feedback or bug reports, many of have been mentioned in previous community updates for S6, but instead look to the future! In case you haven’t seen it, we’ve already been sharing a little bit about was it to come in Season 7 of Call of Duty: Mobile and the first was this weapons image.
The trick in this one is to recognize weapons you may not be familiar with and apparently it isn’t much of a trick because we saw many players responding in droves with the correct weapon names haha. Next up, we had an obscured glimpse at an upcoming Season 7 Multiplayer map. This one is hopefully not familiar to anyone but the most veteran Call of Duty player.
We’ll be sharing much more this week and of course into next week as we get closer to the launch of Season 7. We’ll see all of you then and keep an eye out this weekend for World Championship 2021 events, Season 7 news, and more! Take care.
