Now, before you go downvoting, give this a read. Another thing to note is that I’m around level 12, so I’ve gotten plenty of experience with the mechanic myself.
Now, getting into the meat of this, Frostbite in of itself may seem like a total nuisance and doesn’t belong, it starts to become less and less of a problem the longer you keep playing the Frost Escalation and the more you keep upgrading. Like, seriously, there’s so many people that complain about the mechanic without unlocking or even at least seeing the upgrades that they gain access to as they level up.
Speaking of those upgrades, you seriously need them if you even want to get past round 2 of 10-50. Insulated gear is good, but doesn’t have that much of an impact, I’ll admit, but once you get Bottled Warmth, it changes EVERYTHING. Those long runs in between the rounds aren’t as annoying as they were before, because once you get the upgrade mentioned above, you can actually get to the next arena with less progress on the Frostbite meter than you did on the last round.
I don’t have these next ones yet, but Warmblooded also helps, because a 50% reset when you would get frost bitten is really helpful if you’re not paying that much attention. Heated blade is also good, because the later intermissions give more braziers, which ups the buff, which does more damage.
The boons can also help a lot, because the orb one gives shield and heat, as long as you can remember to break it, the safe zones help A LOT, because it gives heat upon entering, and prevents buildup, the glowing one can also be good, if your teammates have a high dps build, and the part one can also be handy, given the behemoths you’re fighting. And if you have Engineer cells equipped, your heat pylons can become infinitely better.
So yeah, getting over the Frostbite can be rough in the beginning, but next time a seemingly “broken” mechanic gets added to the game, don’t just immediately go complaining to the developers about it. Give it some time, upgrade your skills, and learn how it works and how to combat it, so that that way, you can put those factors into the equation of determining how “broken” this new mechanic is.
