Before I start, I really don't know what flair I should put this as... Feedback is probably best suited for this.

Hey Slayers!

In 2 weeks(more or less), itwill be my 2 year anniversary of Dauntless. This won't be a rant post or negative post, just a wholesome post. I wanted to show a bit of positivity before the update today and share my journey with you guys.

Where I started in Dauntless

I came from role playing/adventure single player games and dabbled a bit in online competitive games such as Fortnite(2 years ago). Friends of mine told me I should play Dauntless and I initially thought(like a few of us) that I wouldn't be into the game, but I tried the game out and well, funny story, I got hooked on this game. My friend told me I should do the tutorial mission, back then it was you fighting as your slayer with recruit weapons against a baby gnasher(I was terrified fighting hamster boi), and I hunted my first behemoth, I was so stoked! I waited for my friend but I wondered around old ramsgate and noticed the store(Oh boy). I saw, the summoning dog emote, my first thought was "I WANT TO BE KAKASHI FROM NARUTO". I begged my mom(I was still in highschool, so I had no financial independence) to buy me plat so that I can buy my doggo emote. Which I did and I still have the emote equipped in the same exact slot to this day. My friend hopped on and asked me "So, what did you do while I was away". I replied : "I bought an emote, I am Kakashi now".

I didn't even spend 1 hour in the game and I invested my money in the game. I bought the huntpass while I was at it and grinded patrols for 5 days straight only to get to level 11 in the huntpass. Now, all you people complaining that weekly tasks sucks, we had them in open beta during the hidden blades pass and it was a pain in the arse to complete them. Its so much easier now.

My journey throughout Dauntless

My friends quickly ditched me when I got ahead of them in progress, ahh, Mastery... You were so frikken difficult before Escalations. But I grinded my but off in the game. I spent days with minimal sleep going to school and it was like this for 3 weeks. My eyes started to get sore and I had to take a breal from the game for a few days. I started playing with people I met online, some of them were toxic, some I just hated playing with because of the hate they give towards the game and some, I am very good friends with to this day. Btw, I am from South Africa, and the South African community of Dauntless is extremely small, if you encounter one of us, you can just as well say you picked a 4 leaf clover. But yeah, I played with fellow south africans and got really close with them. I was there for my one friend's birth of his child and it is so weird when we video call and his son is like 16 months old.

I met some of the most amazing people internationally too, I met my guild, the Heroic Knights, these people have supported me through thick and thin. Helped me becoming a good slayer and convinced me not to quit Dauntless(numerous times). They made me in the kind hearted person I am today and made me confident enough to do the things I do today. Btw, thanks knights <3

Point of this post

I create montages of my journey throughout Dauntless, to present the game the same way as I see it. Hyped, awesome, difficult and most of all, fun. These montages varied from "WTF" moments, to high damage, to 1 tapping behemoths and to trials. Each montage was me paying respect to PHXL for giving me a game that I can fall back to whenever I just feel down or happy, bored or amused, drunk(don't play this game while you are drunk) and sober.(19th birthday was... Yeah). Point I am trying to make is, this game was always there for me to play, with the bugs, with the server lag, with the game's tough times and good times. So... I compiled all my montages into 1 big video, showing old ramsgate, before sword rework, showing old UI's and HUDs to showing everything we see today.

Montage

One thing I want to add is that I couldn't find my old footage and the way I downloaded YouTube videos on my PC didn't work, so I physically had to sit through all my montages and record them off of YouTube. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/sQvZYZM7BGw

I linked all my old videos in the description if you want to watch the full videos. I also indicated the timeline on the videos. Important to note is that I started making montages way after I started playing Dauntless.

Thank you PHXL and everyone who made my (almost) 2 year Dauntless journey probably one of my favorite journeys I ever had.
