Reforged made the game a lot better in terms of player retention, what I mean is there are more things to do, more rewards, more things to strive for, previously there was barely any reason to play once you got your legendary gear and got a few sets to +15, we needed this "endlessness". The base Dauntless formula also got a lot better, Hunting Grounds fit in really nicely (although not allowing us to play solo is ... Dumb, even if it's coming back in march/april, Im still very surprised this went through in the first place ...) and overall ... I thing those were good changes. So now that we have reasons to play, I think we really need to get new ways to play. Discipline + Rage + Wild Frenzy in literally. every. build. is ridiculous and boring and depressing and ... It just sucks ! I do think that in a game like Dauntless, where skill (good dodging) can potentially eliminate any need of defense, damage will always be king, but I feel like having most cells be focused on damage (With interesting exceptions of course) isn't a bad thing as long as they're diversified.

A simple idea I have: Maybe cells could evolve into something more meaningfull, something akin to League of Legends' runes, but dialed up to 11, where "main cells" are literal gamechangers that affect your playstyle heavily and smaller cells would just be simple, passive bonuses, like most cells are right now. Examples of "main cells" could be a Predator "main cell" that would decrease your base damage, but have a bigger, scaling damage bonus as you keep avoiding damage, or have Overpower vastly increase damage to staggered behemoths, but slightly decrease regular damage, I realise that these particular examples aren't exactly amazing and propably wouldn't work, but I genuinely think that there are many interesting possibilities with a system like this.

Im sure you'll be able to come up with a good system, I just really hope that this is a high priority. We need to bring some life into the, currently, very linear loadout building.

Build diversity is something we talk about frequently in the studio. It's something that we're making incremental steps towards.

We're going to be taking a hard look at cells and wounding soon to address some of the friction.
