Hello, as promised, here are the result of the survey we started 1.5 weeks ago.

For those who want to know what this is all about, here is the initial post (reddit link): https://www.reddit.com/r/dauntless/comments/gju7oi/a_survey_made_by_the_community_and_for_the/

If you want, you can still take the survey to compare your result for the fun of it. But any additional answered past 22/05/2020 are not considered in those results. It was only a 1 weeklong survey.

Here are the result presented with a pdf (no download) : https://pdfhost.io/v/7~jBVA48N_Dauntless_survey_Resultpdf.pdf

Disclaimer:

There are some important points we would like to mention for you to have a proper look at the result and proper understanding of them.

After posting this survey, some people pinpointed the limits of it in the comment (go check the comment on the Reddit post link mentioned above). We believe it is extremely important to address those points as we completely agree with all of them.

-Limited answer: The survey was purposefully short and with limited answer. We wanted it to be easy to complete, in a time of 5 to 10 minutes. We had to make some difficult choice. We believe it would have been worse to have unbalanced options than limited option. It is sometimes surprisingly hard to describe an idea without using some specific trigger word. When you check the result, keep in mind that some people could have wanted to express different idea that weren’t represented and had to force themselves onto the least bad option. Stay critical in your interpretation of the data.

-Low entries: I’m proud to announce that we received 122 entries. To be completely honest, we were only expecting 20-30. But comparing this entry number to the sole regular number of upvote some post made us realize how small our sample was. I let you decide how much this number mean to you. To us, it is not enough to safely assume the current % shown are relevant. But they are still interesting

-Reddit / discord representation: This survey was posted on Reddit, several discord and shared amongst a few player. Since we were not asking for any information, we can only assume. The initial spike in response we had at the beginning of the study strongly suggest that most of those answers came from Reddit. The question being: does reddit really represent the Dauntless community? For this survey to be more valid, it should have been completed by player completely exterior to reddit in order to have a vast sample.

Analysis

I wanted to give an additional analysis of some trend that could be observed using specific statistical tools. But due to Coronavirus some of us had to be repatriated, while some other hard to farm for that beautiful barbaric skin in the vault. In the end, we didn't have time to make a proper additional analysis as those things are not the kind of stuff you partly do. If anyone wants the data to run some T test, chi square, binomial or correlation test, feel free to contact this Reddit account.

Thanks

I first want to thank those who did the survey, those who shared it and those who encouraged us by message or in the last question! You helped us a lot!

I would also like to thank the Reddit user YeastBeast1980 and cakehavenvitriol for their detailed comment on the initial reddit post that helped us describing appropriately the limits of the analysis.

Until next time Slayers!

Sincerely,

An anonymous team that love this game

This is all very interesting and I've gone ahead and shared it with the team. Good work!
