Let me preface, by saying, that the decision to not continue your forums and to blatantly almost word-for-word copy what Epic stated when they chose to do the exact same thing, is a slap in your founders/dedicated player-bases faces.

The current state of feedback and discussions is appalling. If it doesn't jive with the core of your sub community, it's down-voted into oblivion, never responded to, and lost unless your overworked mods bring it to your attention. Here is a simple suggestion, yes I could of worded things differently, but when it comes to the actual discussion, you start to see what "reddit" as a platform really is.

My question to PHXL, is this how you really want feedback for your game processed?

Where the players who evaluate your game, not just on fun, are shut out? Reddit, the more I use it for many other threads, if not heavily moderated, is a cesspool. It does not promote discussions, even when it's PINNED and suppose to be focused feedback. Whats worse, is that patch notes and in-game tool-tips, hide so much information that has to be tested as if, we were your paid QA team.

There are so many issues with the game, from how trials is currently implemented (Bugged and hacked runs)

Top runs are all bugged (group and some solo) and or hacked (top 2 solos)

Hacking should be a HARD stance. It's obvious that intention is there. IP ban the first time, hardware ban the next time. Otherwise a week to "cleanse" the boards is going to leave a ton of actual competitors on edge and wondering if you care about the effort we put in. To me, this week was not even worth the pots to compete, between everything that went on and still, bugged runs up on the boards.

To the arguably bad balancing with the implementation of Beserker and trying to bring all weapons to an even DPS level, disregarding what made Dauntless unique in terms of risk vs. reward of play. This isn't apparent in Trials yet, but it's very apparent in Heroic/Heroic+, where majority of speedrunning/tournaments still takes place. Trials is awfully one sided due to it's current implementation, leading to the heavy repeaters use.

I'm absolutely lost, as a dedicated player who has more than sung praises of your game and criticized some of your less tasteful changes as a studio and game. While I totally understand the need to have a fun game, that attracts players and that Trials is meant for the "hardcore". However, you are breeding a community that is no longer willing to have actual discussions about balance, that resorts to filling a sub with memes and hive minded posts, buries any critique if its not to satisfy the disgruntled masses, and have gone silent to your core players who have been their day 1.

I already don't see the same PHXL, that I saw in Alpha, CB, or even earlier OB. I also don't want to blame it on EPIC or any recent partnerships, but unless we are some brown-nosing players, you don't take critique very well.

Hey /u/aodangaming --

I appreciate you taking the time to make this post.

Currently the forums are down and we do not have a timeline for them to come back. As you have indicated, we are currently working to figure out community staffing and resources. Community engagement and management is extremely important to us, and we are not going to rush a hire to fill a spot. We want the right person for the job.

While we are looking for that person, we are not able to provide the level of focus that is required to keep the forum operating at the level that we expect for a community experience. We are also evaluating whether or not the forums foster the best and most productive conversations.

I know that you are fond of the forums and enjoyed extended conversations there. However, I would challenge whether or not Reddit is a less effective and valuable way to gather feedback. I know that you don't enjoy having your posts downvoted (which was not possible on the forums). However, I would offer that when you say "yes I could of worded things differently" that you take this to heart and really take it to heart. I believe that the issue is not Reddit or the Reddit format but the caustic nature of your posts. You are not trying to foster a conversation - you are making demands.

For example.

Hacking should be a HARD stance. It's obvious that intention is there. IP ban the first time, hardware ban the next time. Otherwise a week to "cleanse" the boards is going to leave a ton of actual competitors on edge and wondering if you care about the effort we put in.

We have had a hard stance on cheating since day one - it is not acceptable. We are working to implement anticheat and other measures to combat anything that undermines Trials. Making prescriptive demands about hardware bans is not productive. When you skip right to making a prescriptive demand instead of asking questions or trying to create a conversation, you are closing off conversation and forcing people to either agree or disagree with you (as you leave them no other choice).

This is a conversation that you and I have had on many occasions. Your forums posts followed a similar tone and structure, and more often than not devolved into arguments and threads which resulted in reports and requests for moderation. You have strong opinions, but you are not making strong arguments and you are not creating a stronger community through conversation. And that's not the fault of Reddit or the moderators - that's a biproduct of your tone and approach.

I know that it's frustrating to have your posts downvoted. I know it's frustrating to not get the attention you want. But based on my experience and the feedback I receive from other community members about your posts - it's not the platform. It's your attitude. I know that's not fun to read and that it's hard feedback to receive. But if you genuinely care, I am happy to be honest with you.

All of that being said, the voting that happens around posts and the replies and conversations do not dictate our willingness or interest to engage with feedback. We take all feedback seriously -- regardless of any number of likes or upvotes associated with it.

If you want to change and grow the conversations that are happening in this subreddit, then start conversation - not lists of demands.
