Right so i've been playing like 3 weeks now, got like 7 reforges total across two weapons. Got all bu umbral esca too 20+ etc... Now from a new player perspective whose only knowledge is the slayer path.

Now one thing that is annoying me is the fact that combat merits are tied to unlocking the 'best' mods/ specials for a weapon. Now merits grinding is super slow, you get 4 keys and bounties a day which may not even give you the merit you need, then all you can do is event hop. The full tree costs like 1600 combat merits and 120k~ rams. The rams are kind of annoying but merits are a problem.

I will admit i've bought 2 sets of 32 premium bounties, once when I bought a cheap on sale pack which gave me plat for the pass which I completed, another when this next pass eventually gave me enough to buy more.

Now the problem for me is the old system for unlocking seemed so much better, you get a weapon you level with it a bit and to get mastery 11 and unlock everything. Play the wep, unlock stuff for the wep. Simple and makes sense.

Now everything is gated behind yet another currency, this game sure seems to like the random currency grinds. But at the rate im earning merits twice i've ended up reforge 4 on a weapon without actually unlocking the mod / special I want to use before I want to switch weapon. I'm in 30-38 mastery for both the axe and cb and despite all that time I'm still not using the ideal mods.

That to me is just annoying and overall just a step backwards design wise. Its too grindy for yet another currency in this game. Why do I have to event hop for dozens on hours to unlock mods for a weapon before I can really use it to its max potential, why can't I just unlock it by playing the weapon for a few hours.

I don't like the slayer path system for unlocking mods, Ive basically not unlocked/ upgraded anything else for a loooong time and i've saved all my rams/ combats for unlocking mods. I have like 1600 exploration merits which I can't use because I need the rams.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll pass it on to the team.

The goal of the Slayer's Path was to give players goals while guiding newer players through all the game's content. We don't want progression to be lightning-fast to provide a longer tail.
