Hey Slayers -- As we get the 1.5.0 update finalized and off to certification, I wanted to circle back on this post from a few weeks ago (Hunt Pass, Ostian Armour, Your Feedback, and a Peek Behind the Curtain). Y’all really had a lot of great feedback and honestly the team and I appreciate it so, so much!
One of the big points that came across was that all players, whether they’re Elite Pass holders are not, are looking for some way to get into the seasonal fantasy. Love that! Another was that Slayers who had purchased armours directly from the store (whether it was a year earlier or a month earlier) were feeling like their items had been devalued. I get it!
We looked at all of it, and more from players in other places, and explored a few options that could hit our goals: We wanted all players to have a way to get in on the season, but we also wanted to make sure Elite was the best way to dive in. We wanted players to feel good about purchases from the Store and proud of their Slayer's unique look. And we wanted players to always have a choice in how they unlock cosmetic content.
SO. As (spoiler alert!) the Cold Front Hunt Pass launches on December 3rd, you’ll see a few new changes.
The Elite Track will again have two brand new sets of armour transmogs, one at level 1 and one at level 50. No change there.
But the Basic Track will also make two new Rumour quest chains available for players that reach the right levels in their pass. Complete all of the quests for a single Rumour to unlock a different, brand new transmog, and the story of how it came to be. One of the Rumours will unlock a helm transmog, and the other will unlock a chest transmog. These are variant pieces that fit with the set at level 50 of the Elite Track.
But that’s not all!
If you were around during Dark Harvest, you met the wacky new NPC, Ozz. Talk to him, and he’ll have a couple other Rumours for you to investigate - and more on the way. Again, each will kick off a chain of quests that ends in a brand new transmog that’s not available any other way.
(One of those was teased in the trailer for Untamed Wilds)
Rumour quests are a bit different than normal quests, though. Some steps are focused on challenge and will require demonstration of a specific Slayer skill to progress. Others will be easier to complete and can be skipped by donating platinum to the NPC or their organization. Some of the shiftier ones (cough, The Middleman) might even ask for a bribe. Either way, you can complete any Rumour without spending any platinum. Up to you!
And here’s the best part.
While Ozz will bring you a steady stream of new Rumours over time, they’re not time limited. If you pick up a Rumour, from the Hunt Pass or from Ozz directly, you can finish it on your own time.
So just get out there. Boop some Behemoths. Explore the Shattered Isles. And have fun!
As always -- I’m around to chat and to hear more feedback from all of you, whether it’s about Hunt Pass or something else.
Clear Skies! See you all in 1.5.0.
