[2021] Watched my little brother do a public even, he barley got any aethersparks

So I was just watching my little brother do some public events with some random. He was really trying to play as best as he could. And after I think 3 or 4 rounds of behemoths, he got 3 aetherspark. Now, he is level 17 with no reforge, and he was trying to do the most damage as he could do with his pieced together build. But for all his efforts he got a measly 3 sparks? Is this a joke? How are newer players supposed to farm for reforges and stuff when they barely get any? This needs to change, it's redicilous.
