I think set bonuses would really help spice up the build variety in the game by giving some non meta behemoth armor something to do. It would work as a 2 part set bonus.

1 part of the set bonus for wearing 2 pieces of a behemoth armor. The second part of the set bonus would be added on to the first while wearing the entire set, so you can still mix and match different armors. It was my favourite thing about armor in Monster hunter World (sad to see rise didn't have them).

Here are some random armor set ideas I came up with.

Phaelanx- 2 pieces- Hellish wings- Allows the slayer to double jump (useful for getting a gilder out in hunting grounds and evading attacks). 4 pieces- Hellish flight- Turns your glider into a rocket for a massive speed increase. For non glider modes it would give 15% attack bonus and a bit of blaze damage on all weapons.

Gnasher- 2 pieces- Snarling beast- basically the weapon unique effect but a bit weaker. 4 pieces- Hateful beast- Taking any damage will instantly activate the effect.

Drask- 2 pieces- Rumbling thunder- Same as gnasher but instead gives attack speed. 4 pieces- Hateful thunder- works the same way as well

Skarn- 2 pieces- Unmovable stone- Same as gnasher but gives damage reduction. 4 pieces- Unmovable mountain- same as gnashers.

Pangar- 2 pieces- Howling wind- Same as gnasher but gives stamina regeneration. 4 pieces- Screaming wind- Same as gnasher.

Pangar, Gnasher, Drask, Skarn- 4 pieces (1 of each)- Maelstorm of hatred- Gives all the previous set effects at once (with the condition of getting hit to instantly activate).

Riftstalker- 2 pieces- Cat's eye- add a chance to increase break part amount (more stuff as well if phx labs was generous enough). 4 pieces- Catlike reflexes- Allows you to negate an attack once every 30 seconds (you get hit with an attack but you "dodge" it once every so often, like a super nine lives cell kinda).

Shrowd- 2 pieces- Goopmaster- You gain the "avatar of corruption" amp basically and you can also spawn umbral goop like the molten cell (umbral goop will negatively affect other players). 4 pieces- Shadow clone- A shadowy version of you has a chance to repeat an attack you just made (like the Rezakiri unique effect).

Valomyr- 2 pieces- Astral cultist- Allows you to spawn Valomyrs crystals like the molten cell. 4 pieces- Astral lunatic- You can no longer join public hunts due to wearing the full Valomyr armor set. Alternate effect- You gain the lucent bonus ON TOP of your regular healing, and you can spread it like a plague, since it affects others now too.

Some of these are of course pretty unbalanced compared to others, but that's just dauntless. I do believe it would make builds much more interesting though and balance wouldn't be that big of a deal, since you lose some of the cell meta on mix and match armors in exchange for these effects.

Thanks for the ideas! Set bonuses is something I’d love to get into the game at some point but we don’t currently have them scheduled. I think there’s still room for set bonuses even if we have Omnicells.

I believe our designer's reasoning is that this would restrict build diversity. It pushes players to use complete sets instead of mixing and matching to find their own play style.
