1431s different plane of existence I believe
1434s at this point alright so we have a bunch
1437s of things to talk about today before we
1439s get to the the légion chat so let's get
1444s to it first of all Game Awards happened
1447s that was last week
1448s it was absolutely batshit crazy it was
1451s so amazing to be there I'm I'm so happy
1454s I got the opportunity that's all on you
1456s you and 10 million people who played the
1460s game in the last two and a half years 10
1463s million people that's crazy
1465s 10 million people play dead by daylight
1467s in the last two and a half years one of
1470s the things that I mentioned while I was
1472s at the video game awards was our
1475s commitment to have dedicated servers
1478s coming to death by daylight in summer
1480s 2019 so that's kind of good news and
1484s that's hopefully showing you out there
1487s that we are very serious about keeping
1490s this game alive for the next 5 10 25
1493s years
1498s that's it okay other than that
1501s matchmaking I have to talk about
1503s matchmaking so we for those of you
1505s paying very close attention we mentioned
1507s it on some of the forums so we had a new
1510s match making algorithm we put it out on
1513s the live for a little bit I think it was
1515s for about 25 about 24 hours or something
1518s like that it worked for the most part
1520s but there were a few issues with it that
1522s were unacceptable so we took it out we
1525s put back the previous matchmaking system
1528s that works that's not perfect but we're
1531s trying to fix and we're reworking some
1533s of the kinks so hopefully early January
1536s we should be putting the new system back
1540s on the live and testing again the good
1543s news is that it worked for the most part
1545s I mean it people were still able to find
1547s matches but the the algorithms and some
1549s of the ways it worked and reacted to for
1551s instance people disconnecting and things
1553s like that was not what we wanted it to
1555s do so we're gonna go back to the drawing
1556s board
1557s well no not back to the drawing board
1559s we're just gonna improve and then we're
1561s gonna put it again so that's the good
1564s news
1564s other than that I have a few known
1567s issues here so obviously we upgraded to
1571s 4.20 it brought with it a bunch of great
1577s improvements that again but it also
1578s brought in a bunch of issues and bugs we
1581s didn't expect some of them a few audio
1585s ones like footsteps are too low
1587s injured sounds or too low overall sounds
1590s are louder some people are saying it's
1592s unplayable it hurts my ears very sorry
1596s about that we are doing a big pass on
1598s the mix of the music mixing in music is
1602s when you actually make sure that all the
1603s different sources of sound are
1606s comparatively to each other
1608s correct so we're gonna do a big big pass
1611s on that and
1612s it's gonna come in in an upcoming patch
1615s and it's gonna make things better
1617s it's ours it's the kind of things that
1620s happen when you upgrade to a new engine
1622s we have to update to a new engine
1624s because it comes with great
1625s functionalities it's more stability it
1628s helps with many issues but it says it's
1631s the price we have to pay so we're gonna
1632s fix that ps4 crash we're aware that
1636s right now there are some bad crashes on
1639s ps4 I don't have the information right
1641s now because I didn't disturb the people
1643s actually trying to fix it but we are
1645s aware of the issue and some people are
1647s working on it there's also a crash on
1649s certain maps I don't have the list here
1652s it's not really relevant and that's over
1655s also again known issue and we'll fix it
1658s for sure these kinds of things we never
1661s let them fester we just try to fix it
1665s sometimes it takes longer than we would
1667s have liked but we are on it and we know
1670s there's also the achievement deranged
1672s pursuit I think you would have
1674s information on that yeah sure it does
1675s work actually the farm is with the texts
1677s so it's mentioned the killer instinct
1680s but the way it should work is that you
1683s need to activate killer instinct then
1686s down somebody well just so it works as
1691s designed it's the text that's not right
1693s yes it's an issue it's a blog but the
1696s bug is in the text the other thing is
1697s that we forgot that it's very hard to
1699s achieve even though like you know how to
1701s yeah make it happen because you need to
1704s hit the survivor
1706s then activate your part then hit another
1707s survivor who's already in deep lead mode
1709s I mean deep room other dtpa that's a
1712s certain point so we might reward numbers
1715s there okay it's always a little tricky
1718s to rework achievements once there oh
1720s yeah because the people who have
1721s progress made or have achieved it a
1723s certain way then designing during the
1728s time we designed the characters so
1730s sometimes I'm stings changed yeah
1732s exactly or just something that can
1733s actually become super hard to do and
1735s before it was very easy so yeah numbers
1737s are tricky all right
1742s engine update so if you have feedback on
1745s the engine update mostly to report
1748s issues but anything else you want to say
1750s there is a place for that conversation
1752s on our official forums if you look under
1756s the tag I think someone could put the
1758s link in there if one of our mods have it
1760s it's under the lighting feedback under
1763s Unreal update performance so look it up
1766s and ok so let's start talking about the
1771s Legion new killer came out this week -
1776s obviously a lot of noise as in people
1780s screamed as usual good bad everybody has
1783s their opinion but it's fun to play and a
1785s lot of people have been playing it yeah
1787s so tell us a little bit about how it
1789s came about
1791s usually when we start a character like a
1794s design we we knew somewhat what the
1797s character is gonna be so in this case we
1800s we've been directed to make it that
1802s there's no magic like it's similar to
1805s the clown like it's a real person it
1808s needs to feel like you're actually
1811s survivor somewhat so we're real person
1815s yeah exactly yeah and so we we also
1819s wanted maybe explore an idea where you
1821s need to because it was a sort of sort of
1823s psychopath so what yeah just a bit yeah
1827s so the idea of maybe stabbing multiple
1830s person at the same time or multiple time
1832s the same person and we wanted to explore
1836s the stalking like just looking at this
1840s sort of character similar to Myers in
1842s some ways like you you you look at
1844s somebody and then when you really you go
1846s after them there was also the idea of
1849s the palette like vaulting the palette
1851s like a survivor feeling like survivor
1852s maybe even hiding in Locker stuff like
1855s that so there was a lot of things on
1857s paper but what we tested out was the so
1861s we started with the stalking and then
1863s the stalking was giving you some what
1866s what's in the game now except that at
1869s the time you
1870s yeah you had to build out yeah you have
1873s to build up and then once you were
1874s building up you you were ready to go you
1876s you were basically about to yeah it was
1881s it was a bit insane I could just did
1882s there was actually no counterplay like
1885s people feel like it's just what else can
1887s we do and even on the killer side the
1889s build up of the like the stalking felt
1892s like I want to do it now like why do I
1895s have to wait like because Myers Myers
1898s powers takes time and it's something
1900s that the reward like is it's insane
1904s thank you you cannot go except like a
1905s wind button I don't think you can do
1907s something better in your game exposes
1910s the most drastic thing that can there's
1913s a kill I guess I mean yeah exactly but
1917s having a power at the same time like
1919s where we well we need to set the limits
1922s right yeah and so that's why I think
1925s Myers works because it takes time and
1926s then when you achieve that it's it
1928s that's for certain time but in this case
1930s we felt like you wanted to go right away
1933s and you you wanted to happen multiple
1935s times throughout the game and we we
1938s played a long time with the default 4.6
1941s P because we just released this this
1943s period so we said just just trying to
1946s make like we should try to make a killer
1947s that works like more similar in like a
1950s base and one version to what we have
1953s like what people expect and but we we
1958s felt that because he was so oppressive
1960s in his power and he needed a drawback
1963s somewhere like a people needed like some
1965s ways to to breath and like mend or heal
1969s and that's that's the balance okay
1972s whenever we create a killer like you
1975s have to think that what you gain you're
1979s losing somewhere right there should be a
1981s balance I give you super fast maybe
1983s you're not good at tracking but if
1985s you're super good at tracking maybe you
1987s go slower but because you know we're a
1991s limited set of values you can play with
1993s oh yeah the number of things you can
1996s tweak we said we said those throughout
1999s the development and I'm not gonna say
2002s too much about this because
2004s like we know but the thing is we
2006s definitely put like little levers on the
2009s actor that we play with during the
2011s development and sometimes we we just
2013s turn some of them are like just out
2015s maybe maybe let's let people play with
2018s him and like within the TTB and see how
2021s they react like how they adjust and we
2023s can because you guys are so like the
2026s number of people you are in the time you
2028s play in the PTB for the very short time
2031s there's no way that we can achieve this
2033s that's why we keep doing the PTAs
2035s because we get so many people at the
2037s same time and everybody's got their own
2039s styles yeah matter of skill like you you
2043s put the five like five best people best
2047s player in the world of that by daylight
2051s in one room for like five hours
2054s they're not gonna achieve what's gonna
2056s be done in five hours online it's just
2058s do you just need one person to post a
2060s video that oh you can cheat the killer
2063s that way and then it spreads like fire
2065s anybody's doing it it just oh we didn't
2067s see that here it just it just it's so
2070s easy for for the community to to share
2073s this information very fast and that's
2075s super helpful for us but at same time
2077s like it's impossible for us to reduce
2080s something that is perfect I guess why
2083s there's usually a bunch of tweaks
2086s between the PTB and their release yeah
2088s and those never usually they are they
2090s are easy to tweak like those those
2092s numbers so because between the PTB and
2095s the official release there's not that
2097s much time and we have constrained like
2099s and we've done in the past where we've
2102s done the PTB and then a couple days in
2105s we've published an update to the DB with
2107s big changes and seen what that does yeah
2109s but it's it's it's tricky and it takes a
2112s lot of energy to do that so sometimes we
2115s there's a risk factor yeah thank you
2117s yeah there's always this oh we just need
2119s a change in number right I mean and once
2121s I did it and I broke the terror radius
2123s for for the killer ages it was just a
2126s number I guess it was safe what happened
2129s but no that's not how things and then
2131s the thing also that people should know
2133s that obviously we release the killer now
2135s it does not mean that this is the final
2137s form sure
2138s we'll keep tweaking we'll keep modifying
2140s yeah but it was an interesting
2142s conversation also I think it was a boy
2145s anyway earlier and it was some people
2147s were saying it's good it's fun but it's
2151s not a top-tier kid like it's not better
2152s than the hillbilly so why would I play
2154s anything else and like if that's the
2157s arms race that we have to be against
2159s then there's no way for us to ever
2161s create a new killer unless it's more
2163s powerful than the like top tier Billy or
2166s nurse if it's not then it's not worth it
2170s players that's the case but if I may add
2173s like whenever we try to create a new
2177s killer we we look also for diversity
2179s yeah my girls will just be releasing the
2181s trapper with more speed the trapper with
2183s different traffic chopper that sounds
2185s like other games right but I mean even
2189s like in competitive games like I've
2191s looked at Street Fighter or overwatch or
2194s any of those games you look at the
2196s tournament it's always this 5 6 7 same
2199s character that comes back because there
2201s are the min and Max players that that so
2205s I mean it's normal that how many
2207s characters we have no twelve well we
2211s know this yeah exactly
2213s please sorry I can't show this I know we
2217s have a bunch so even though we have
2218s three viable killers and top ranked I
2221s mean decent yeah it's just a matter of
2224s maybe switching them up once in a while
2225s but there's no way to hell we'd get away
2227s with making the nurse a little less
2229s powerful no or hillbilly is a little
2232s slower
2232s yeah but they do remain at there's a
2235s time where we like we didn't know that
2238s the game as much yeah like there's
2240s things that well the gray teammate made
2242s us discover this know that much but so
2246s maybe we'll do that hillbilly now just
2248s causes the point yeah with the chainsaw
2251s sure let's try that okay you have a
2256s video yeah I guess visual aids
2258s it's one of the like very early
2262s yeah that's the end of the video yes

2271s start playing out like in aura
2275s put a type we don't get the the model
2277s right away so that's that's the region

2311s actually that was a very scary looking

2316s intensity of on really yeah

2321s was the previous ball time so when we
2323s started playing this killer we we
2326s connect things that we already have in
2328s the game so we really basically we used
2330s the same same system as the grower time
2332s to test it out

2337s should I add to this maybe that the next
2341s change added positive effect of the turf
2344s oh yeah yeah did one other thing like at
2348s some point the killer wasn't a good
2349s place but because like the killer felt
2351s it was fun it was fun going to stab
2354s people multiple times
2355s yeah and you're in the frenzy and you
2356s keep stabbing the same yeah so that was
2359s the issue like we we tried so much to to
2362s make it that it becomes obviously on fun
2365s and not strategy for the killer to
2369s tunnel because that was the issue on the
2372s server side like people are saying is he
2373s is just me I mean exactly so we that's
2378s when the like that the killer instinct
2381s came in or journey we tested out with
2383s the aura
2384s actually but we found that was way too
2387s precise like he was just giving away
2389s like directly where the person was so we
2392s like that beeping
2393s so it would give like a slight chance at
2397s these two the survivor and we also knew
2399s that the perk distortion was coming in
2401s so if the four survivor had the perk
2403s right at the beginning that match is
2405s sort of make the the power of the killer
2407s somewhat interesting so we that's one
2411s thing that will be look troupe like that
2414s next if we ever like look at Freddy for
2418s example or do other killers we'll try to
2421s stay away from incorporating the aura
2423s affecting their power making it more
2425s like it's a an individual playing that
2428s it's not affected by burns yeah but it's
2430s always a bit of a tricky bit because for
2433s instance you know that the hag was
2437s introduced at the same time as a hex
2439s totem yeah and some obviously her perks
2442s have to do with that but she was the
2444s first one so the hex featured a ruin
2447s became a much bigger thing now and then
2450s it sort of skews some of these things
2452s that were done at the beginning with
2453s that feature so yeah that's something we
2455s see afterwards I mean just a quick thing
2459s so gab is asking me to say the
2461s optimization pass is an ongoing process
2464s the first step of the pass is the Unreal
2467s Engine update and there will also not be
2471s and the upcoming changes for the Legion
2474s are not going to be a patch it's an
2476s ongoing process yeah there's gonna be
2478s tweaks that are being done in the future
2481s and the same way to be your the reason
2484s obviously why we don't release all the
2486s change at once is because we want to
2488s monitor what's gonna have some thing is
2490s the first week of a new killer is is
2493s it's not correct that's it and people
2498s need to learn to play the killer that's
2500s not what I said
2501s you said there won't be a patch
2504s dedicated to optimization it will be an
2506s ongoing process and then you made a
2508s thing that pointed up so I didn't know
2511s what you meant

2522s something done about the brightness so
2524s yeah the lighting was also changed so we
2526s talked a little bit about the sound at
2527s the beginning there was chewed up

2537s lighting it's gonna be put back as we go
2541s forward just gonna be tweaks here and
2543s there when it's critical and when it's
2544s needed some of them are just changes
2547s that we said there okay we haven't full
2555s upcoming Legion changes yeah sure please
2558s so again it says drastic because we're
2560s gonna go slowly obviously but so the
2563s next change is that
2564s so when canceling in the power so the
2566s kiddo can cancel the crazy at any time
2569s at the moment it depletes your whole
2571s gauge so we're gonna just remove the
2573s debating factor so you're just gonna
2574s stay if you had still three second you
2577s cancel you you you keep your to safe or
2579s whatever yes exactly and the other thing
2583s is that like one of the aspect that we
2587s weren't really sure was like what
2590s happens if like the server is already
2592s injured we sort of somewhat thought like
2595s it would be like an interesting strategy
2596s that players like survivor wants to keep
2599s injured and like keep the risk take the
2603s risk right now a lot of people are
2606s saying whether you get hit
2607s well yeah healthy or injured it's the
2610s same effect exactly yeah which so it's a
2612s bad perception yeah it's a bad
2614s perception on the killer side and we we
2616s understand that so we're gonna make it
2618s that nothing drastic but when you once
2621s you hit an injured survivor with the
2623s deep wound effect it starts with a
2625s little penalty so you instead of thirty
2628s seconds you started with twenty so you
2630s basically get one extra it on him yeah
2634s so you need three hits instead of four
2636s today we'll see if that works yeah Oh

2643s there's the pickup some people say that
2645s up animation yeah the pickup learn
2646s emissions seem slower it is slower but

2697s for that so when you go inside a locker
2700s you hide from auras but it felt that he
2704s give too much of an edge in some
2706s situation so we're gonna make it that
2708s once you're inside a locker you you you
2711s cannot be detected by aura but you also
2713s don't see auras so you have to draw back
2716s you have this false protection but you
2719s have the drawback of not being able to
2720s see and you're also if somebody is on
2722s the hook you won't see them or down just
2724s get out of the locker and do your thing
2728s so yes in the end actually I mean some
2732s people are very successful with the
2734s Legion right now as killers and some
2736s people are not at all successful with
2738s the Legion I think it's it's a it's a
2741s weird one it's sort of not obvious how
2745s to use the Legion properly but talking
2748s with other designers it was also the
2750s hardest one that we did like it was so
2752s out of the box compared to anything else
2754s we did like that the spirit was was was
2758s that easy was a bit problematic but
2760s because she was like the first killer
2762s that was so connected to gameplay and
2765s VFX and sounds like ugh this was
2768s technical problems yes
2770s no no no but like we needed to make it
2772s the timing of the VFX or the sound needs
2775s to be exactly this like it's just not
2777s just not not to like oh just put a
2780s motion trail you just usually via fix
2782s it's there to to make
2784s yes yes and people don't complain when
2786s it's good but when it's bad like this
2789s yeah but in this case like it was super
2792s important like her or phasing needed to
2795s be that specific time and like we we
2798s just had a like a lot of fish off making
2800s this our but in this case like the
2803s direction we started to take was not
2806s easy and we that's we're still proud of
2808s what we ended up with but it's it was
2811s like a challenging one there now I don't
2813s think we'll do any other like very hard
2816s they cab so out of the box we always do
2821s it sure we're never gonna do something
2825s as complicated as the spirit was
2827s visually of course we will yeah which
2833s leads me to actually talk about the
2835s visuals for the region because it's it's
2837s a strange one the fact that it's another
2838s character with four characters and and
2841s how it was depicted because it's a very
2843s mundane contemporary like everyday kind
2847s of character but at the same time it
2849s needed to be iconic like all of our
2851s characters oh yes generally like between
2863s like when releasing this chapter we're
2866s really thinking about creating like a
2867s connection between the survivor and the
2870s killer sometimes there's a little bit of
2873s a disconnect between the two just for
2875s baby belonging to different worlds but
2878s so we really wanted to create a
2879s connection between both of them and so
2882s they have a kind of like contrasting
2884s design features it's like visually and
2887s starting with the survivor so for for
2892s Jeff we wanted to sort of address as
2895s like sort of a stereotype now that like
2898s on the surface somebody
2899s the really kind of scary or threatening
2901s but Jeff is really like a soft heart is
2904s threatening person he says ooh yeah
2907s he's a big song yeah it's a big big
2909s softy and but in contrast the legion is
2912s super like it it could be anybody yet
2916s they're so like dark on the inside them
2918s and you know as you mentioned earlier
2920s they're they're all Psychopaths yeah
2923s some had to be motivated a little more
2926s than others yeah can we get the first
2929s thingy please wonderful so oh okay
2935s so what we see here I think is the very
2939s first concepts for Susie yeah I think by
2944s far right now the most popular
2946s oh yeah of the four we have an issues
2951s okay good
2952s and so what's happened there yeah Suze
2957s is a member of the Legion gang she's a
2963s and she's supposed to be sort of the
2967s nerdy but crazy character amongst that
2971s group of friends so she has like brace
2974s face mask yeah but that's a detail that
2977s a lot of people missed but that's so
2979s good I saw this there's actually what's
2982s holding our masks together is not like
2984s twine or his stitches it's actually
2987s braces yeah yeah they're like teeth
2989s braces and her mouth is actually like a
2990s like made of like or like she's
2996s definitely almost like porcelain a bit
2998s dirty and and she's holding like her
3001s ruler that's was like sharpen and has a
3004s common type thing yeah and got her dyed
3009s hair so yeah it's a it's a popular one
3011s so really quickly when I'm amongst the
3014s players and one of my
3015s - next one so this is Joe and Joe was
3023s supposed to be like a like a bike bike
3028s messenger like like urban guy yeah
3032s you've got like a like cool urban design
3035s features sort of like contemporary
3037s clothing and like a cool backpack and
3040s she has a really cool like cover in the
3043s knife so yeah it was super fun to work
3048s on man looks awesome in game - yeah so
3051s yeah okay I'm just looking at questions
3056s no someone was saying by the way spirit
3059s visuals clap and a half for you guys oh
3062s so there's so much there we go
3067s yeah so this is Joe now we have here
3070s yeah now we have Frank and Julie who are
3073s the the the defaults the the main Legion
3077s characters so Frank was a like he took
3082s another year in high school so he's a
3083s bit older and Julie's like his is
3086s girlfriend
3087s so that the idea here was actually that
3090s they have when they're going on like
3092s their killing sprees that they're
3093s wearing similar to love it's I shouldn't
3098s be screaming okay but yeah it's it's
3101s really really and one of the things I
3103s like and it's funny cuz at first I
3105s wasn't sure because they're very very
3106s similar obviously yeah but the fact that
3108s you could switch from male to female and
3111s still be the exact same character in
3113s essence yes I thought was pretty cool so
3116s yeah it's cool that we were able to
3118s exert change the proportions of the
3120s characters mhm and even though we
3125s managed to do something that's that's
3127s very visually striking it's it we
3132s shortened the time you know from the
3136s first time we showed something to the
3138s first cosplay it was really really short
3141s there was a couple hours before someone
3143s at the around
3144s so Doughboy yeah it's cool that people
3148s catch down so quickly
3150s was there any specific inspiration
3153s behind making the legion a group of four
3155s the specific number
3158s not necessarily although it's a it's a
3160s good number in that but but the idea was
3167s always to to have essentially that thing
3170s of it could be anyone and in a sense it
3173s is and and sort of a murder there's not
3179s a murder-suicide pact but it's
3181s definitely like err what are those
3182s things that went way too far and sort of
3186s it's it's it was within them didn't like
3190s me personally I don't think I'd be
3192s convinced into stabbing someone even
3194s with friends but but they definitely
3197s turn into that thing and sort of got
3199s into it even though something had to be

3348s the end she's the one who's gonna stab

3923s the engine update a lot of them are not
3925s mixed properly so some sounds of way too
3927s loud injured and footsteps or too low
3930s we're doing a passive mixing it's gonna
3932s be fixed there's a bad crash on ps4 we
3935s know we are working on fixing that along
3938s with the crash on certain maps that
3941s people are trying to get resolved right
3943s now the achievement deranged pursuit is
3947s in fact bugged because the text does not
3950s represent what you're supposed to do so

779s just talk a little bit about a certain
781s podcast that we saw yesterday about
784s about the writing you didn't see it but
787s community teams saw it we got a lot of
790s feedback from it we brought it back to
792s the team that's all we're gonna say
794s about it today because the subject of
796s the stream today is PTV so yeah we're
799s gonna start about this guy

820s the level team so so I've been taking

824s recently level design you've seen a lot
826s of stuff getting better getting improved
829s one of the biggest things we have in the
831s PTB is actually the change to hooks and
834s hook offerings yeah so basically I'm
836s here to clarify or to to show you an
841s illustration of how hook distribution
844s works and how offerings will be
846s affecting hook offerings as affecting
850s hook distributions as of as of the PTB
852s cool so we're trying out these new
854s systems it gives us a lot more
857s flexibility and a lot more control over
858s the procedural generation results so but
862s what is procedural generation like for
865s people who don't know what it is for
867s people who don't know what it is
868s procedural generation is essentially
872s randomization to managed through rules
876s so it's not just randomization its
878s randomization with rules okay
880s right so that so that one one one
883s randomization will have an effect on
886s some other randomization down the line
889s has no control of that so how things
892s spawn in the map doing that that's gonna
895s be everything more almost everything
897s yeah and and different objects have
899s different rules yeah all part of the
901s things so just to make sure that
903s everyone was on the same page when we
904s were talking about we're changing that
906s and is gonna improve our high quality
909s okay yeah yeah yeah we've already seen
912s changes to pallets in the past changes
914s hooks as well but this is the next step
917s so as you know previously a books were
920s not managed through a density or minimum
924s distance right which is basically
926s they're the closest they are yeah so
928s that's what I'm gonna talk about today
930s is how what that is and how that works
932s but previously we did not have that kind
936s of control it was just a number and then
939s basically that was leading to a lot of
941s and inconsistencies so you were choosing
944s a number and it was filling in some
946s spots that were open for looks
948s yeah but previously even the distance
950s between hooks weren't prescribed okay
953s using a density or anything so you could
955s have closed each other stuff like that
959s so for players what does that what do I
963s players see different from what it was
965s before
965s well actually this might be a good
968s opportunity to get straight into the
969s meat of the talk all right so take this
974s thing that you could write under so this
979s is this is art this is abstract art can
983s anybody guess which map it is oh my gosh
985s oh no okay so so ha a second I know I
990s know the color schemes here wait wait
993s wait wait okay
994s nobody knows well it seems like it's
996s gonna take a little time for them to
997s respond by the way here we go okay so
1000s this is the cult our map this is a kind
1003s of top-down view just a couple of BML
1006s which means a couple of little points
1010s that I have to make first of all it's
1012s not it's not the right scale so you can
1015s see it's kind of stretched horizontally
1016s so instead of squares there are more
1018s like rectangles so that's that's all I
1021s had to say okay so this is the layout
1023s for the Cole tower as you can see all
1025s the different elements are there those
1026s are the different tiles next slide
1028s please
1028s so we don't really need to know anything
1031s about those tiles just yet
1033s actually we don't need to know anything
1034s about those tiles the only thing that's
1036s interesting to us right now is talking
1037s about hook distribution so this is an
1039s real-world example of one example of the
1044s coal tower spawning right now every tile
1047s has hooks on it this is these are all
1051s the available or potential hooks in the
1054s entire map as the process begins
1057s selecting hooks cool so this is actually
1060s all the spawn points these are all the
1061s spawn points for hooks in the map so if
1064s we spawned all the put all the actual
1066s hooks right now it would look like you
1068s spawned all the hooks in the map that's
1070s exactly with
1071s oh great yeah just to make sure because
1074s people think that that's what appears in
1076s every game know that those are oh this
1079s is our first line first line yeah this
1081s is the first line so the point not
1083s necessarily potentially hooks are gonna
1085s be yes these are potential hook
1087s replacements okay next slide so we see
1090s the one in green this is the one which
1092s has been randomly selected to begin the
1095s process of placing books next slide so
1100s this is the area of effect of the hook
1102s which is what we call the minimum
1104s distance and that's what we use to to
1107s regulate which hooks spawn or not so
1109s this green hook gives as you've seen has
1112s a minimum distance which it will cancel
1114s out other hooks within that minimum
1116s distance which is represented by the
1117s yellow circle right next slide
1120s yes the circle so as you see this
1124s minimum distance radius has canceled out
1127s a potential hook spawning location next
1130s slide this process is essentially
1133s repeated a few different times until all
1137s of the hooks have been selected yeah
1143s we're just going through it so this is
1145s some simulating what what happens okay
1148s the last one and there we go so now this
1151s image shows at the end of the hook
1154s selection process which hooks have been
1156s eliminated due to the minimum distance
1158s rules and which hooks have been chosen
1160s to spawn in this case we see that we
1163s have eight hooks which have been chosen
1165s to spawn on the map is it a numbers
1173s strict by map no as you see yeah the
1177s entire process was was handled by the
1181s minimum distance between hosts
1183s represented by the circles any hook that
1186s was inside the circle was eliminated as
1189s the process goes on so eight hooks seems
1192s like a fairly good number seems like
1194s everything is spread out quite nicely
1197s however there's some natural variation
1200s which you can
1200s expect to happen based on rotation of
1202s tiles and position relative position of
1205s hooks and stuff like that so we'll be
1207s natural to get a kind of a variation on
1211s the number of hooks
1212s but generally they should be spread out
1215s across the map fairly evenly to give
1217s killers opportunities to get two hooks
1220s with buddies on their backs okay next
1225s slide now I want to talk about what
1229s happens when you use offerings this is
1232s the exact same slide as we saw before
1234s but if we're using in this case we're
1238s going to show the example of a survivor
1240s offering next slide so as as mentioned
1246s in the patch notes the survivor offering
1249s increases the minimum distance between
1251s hooks which means the chosen hook will
1254s eliminate or tend to eliminate more
1258s hooks as you can see here there's an
1261s extra hook can you go back and forth one
1263s or two times so so you see here this is
1267s before the offering this is after the
1270s offer so because of the offering we've
1272s already removed one extra hook now let's
1274s go through the process again and see
1276s what happens so this is relatively the
1280s same we're gonna keep in mind that we
1282s had eight last time right yeah keep it
1284s in mind so this guy is eliminated many
1286s more you're going and one more area so
1291s now with the increased minimum distance
1294s between hooks we see that what happened
1297s is that many more hooks got eliminated
1299s from the process in this case we're
1302s actually ending up with a total of 6
1304s hooks instead of 8 okay so if for
1307s survivors put each other so this is one
1311s survivor lastly what happens well the
1315s minimum distance increases so and is
1318s there a minimum
1320s so as mentioned that yet saves your
1323s number as mentioned in the patch notes
1326s what happens that every map has a
1328s minimum and maximum number of hooks and
1331s it can have this is to preserve a kind
1333s of fairness across the board so I
1337s believe if I'm not wrong the coal tower
1340s has a minimum of 6 hooks so no matter
1342s what happens the will be 6 hooks that
1344s spawn now how this hat is handled is
1347s that essentially if we finish this
1350s process and we see we don't have the
1351s minimum number then we'll force one of
1354s the hooks to spawn Oh a question from
1359s the side a basement and the basement
1362s right well basements eliminate hooks as
1365s well in this case is the basement the
1367s the big blue you know in this case it's
1370s just like simplified version to show you
1372s what happens but one can imagine another
1374s circle around the basement
1375s alright yeah basement could be in the
1377s coal tower so just yeah counter 104
1382s oh well captain it doesn't actually
1384s count as a hook the basement is special
1386s it just denies in the same way as any
1392s what you're showing us is the purpose of
1394s an example yeah so it's not necessarily
1397s the same number minimum or maximum
1399s number for every map and not necessarily
1401s the same there's some natural variation
1404s there that that well that happens that
1408s one may actually a very let's go to the
1410s next light oh that's it well that's
1415s pretty much how it goes so as you've
1417s learned hook offerings will either
1420s increase or decrease that minimum
1422s distance which will have a tendency to
1425s eliminate or allow hooks to spawn the
1431s belief
1432s the thinking behind this is simply that
1435s you have a distribution of hooks that
1438s have a natural variation to it so you
1440s can expect one or two or three hooks
1443s more or less naturally but then when
1446s you're playing offerings they will tend
1448s to remove hooks or tend to add hooks but
1451s there are tendencies based on the based
1454s on the density and not a straight
1457s removal of a number of hooks as we had
1459s in the past okay all right as well that
1463s you are now forcing hooks bonds
1465s depending on where to face yes wait well
1467s yes so in the bottom preschool we had a
1470s lot of rapport where the school is
1472s essentially really difficult to get
1476s anybody out of once they're slow right
1478s it's there if the basements not down
1480s there so - to handle though that dead
1485s zone we forced a hook to spawn near one
1489s of the entrances of the school to allow
1490s people to to have a chance to to to get
1494s to hook even though it's we previously
1497s did this on the Thompson house as well
1498s then we're not I think we did a few
1500s patches ago we added one to the top but
1502s it's not forced okay because that was
1504s wonderful
1504s I like crawling in the corner and they
1511s knew they wouldn't have the time
1512s together to get them to hook so yep yep
1516s extra hook spawning spots around certain
1519s buildings well that's actually speaking
1522s of which the farmhouse we added more
1525s potential hook spawns around the
1528s building just to increase the available
1532s pool of course so the density is more
1535s there can be a little bit more around
1538s the house or not it gives more it gives
1542s the possibility more possibility for
1544s hooks to spawn around the house because
1545s there are more available hooks around
1548s the house I see a lot of questions about
1551s the
1552s the game for hooks yeah is there
1555s anything happening yeah absolutely so we
1557s have in the works right now a system
1560s where we will be scaling the distances
1565s like that you know the distance that we
1567s calculate like we showed you the minimum
1569s distance that you know eliminates hooks
1571s these distances the way they're
1573s calculated will be scaled by verticality
1576s so it means that we can we can we can
1580s prescribe settings that that will
1582s account for specific like go down go
1585s down stairs to get one or hey there's a
1587s hole in that and something like that
1590s something like just the fact that
1591s they'll be on different heights will
1593s mean that they're their distance will be
1595s calculated slightly different - okay so
1597s that allow hooks to to spawn closer
1599s together one on top of the other though
1602s they're they're kind of you know close
1606s to each other vertically so it'll it'll
1607s it'll make it appear like they're
1609s further apart to the system so for us it
1612s was a big thing to change the system for
1614s the hooks so please give us feedback on
1617s what you think as husband yeah
1622s a little wine on placement right so I
1627s mean obviously one of the the big things
1628s we've improved recently was the
1631s interaction systems of the game to be a
1634s little bit more robust mostly for totems
1637s so previously totems were really hard to
1641s place because if you were to put them
1643s next to a wall they would have to be
1645s fairly far from the wall or from a
1647s corner so that they were really hard to
1649s hide but we've updated the interaction
1652s methods for that object which means that
1655s we can now stick them much closer and
1657s put them into spaces nooks and crannies
1661s etc yet allows us to place them to
1669s better place them in the environment so
1671s to hide them better and I don't know if
1673s I can say this is not a patch notes but
1675s also upcoming we're working on the whole
1677s line of sight oh can you totem line of
1679s sight this is this is quite interesting
1681s I think wills
1682s yeah I think a lot of people have been
1683s asking for totem placements and for
1684s better spawning of survivors to not be
1686s able to be next to totems or whatnot
1688s yeah I think this is actually really
1690s interesting would you have to talk about
1692s it very well it's really simple among
1695s other things we have an upgrade to the
1698s the totem spawning system which is
1700s almost identical to what I showed you
1703s for the hooks right it eliminates
1705s potential spawns etc for now so right
1715s now
1716s totems are are really the system has
1719s problems placing totems because there
1722s are four survivors and we don't want
1724s totems to be anywhere near survivors but
1726s if you spread four survivors across the
1728s map it eliminates a lot of potential
1729s spawn points so it's a kind of natural
1731s friction that we have right now but what
1733s we've implemented to help that is a line
1736s of sight check so from well not from now
1739s on obviously but in the near future what
1742s will happen is that totems will will be
1745s eliminated from the spawn pool if they
1748s are visible from survivors spawn point
1751s anyway and when you were sayin visible
1753s reason because people are gonna say you
1754s know but there's a camera pen so I know
1757s I don't but that's what everyone's gonna
1758s say - thank you so my question for you
1760s is how what does line-of-sight mean from
1763s one episode is we're doing a ray cast
1765s which is a technical term for we're
1767s drawing a line from point A to point B
1769s and essentially each survivor spawn
1771s point will be drawing a line to every
1773s single totem to see which ones are
1774s visible which ones yeah so if there's an
1776s actual blocker if I can't see it because
1778s it was like a wall or whatever then it's
1780s safe it will stay but if I see it and
1782s it's within using the point we're using
1785s to to do the raycast or the line drawing
1787s from the spawn point to the totem is
1790s situated somewhere above the head of the
1792s survivor approximately like the highest
1795s point that the camera can be is so
1796s you're saying it's simple now to
1799s a little bit move okay oh yeah so you're
1802s recapping yes yeah so we can place them
1804s more efficiently now because they're
1806s they're more permissive because the
1808s procedural system has been changed no
1810s sorry because the interaction okay
1812s zone is more robust but the second point
1816s the line-of-sight rules basically allow
1819s us to eliminate totem spawn points from
1823s the spawning pool based on their
1825s visibility based on their visibility to
1829s the survivor respond quite well is there
1831s anything else you wanted to bring today

2096s on PTV with the Myers stock regarding

2105s like a hag camera problem little to eye
2107s nurse mask clipping and some stuff with
2110s her bra doesn't have you know darken

2120s I've been working on fixing these things
2122s so that being said some things that we
2126s did on the PTB worked they were not all
2129s bugs we have some changes that we want

2139s of the changes in the patch notes had

2146s that we're trying let us know what you
2149s think about it so what was both wild for

2155s them when we
2155s get to where the wild things okay that's
2156s fine that's wonderful I'm glad that you

2161s yeah all right so I think just basically
2164s like my personal highlights that I
2166s wanted to go through it so if you
2169s haven't carefully read the PTB patch
2172s notes it's cool you're probably gonna
2173s get the highlights right here the thing
2176s that stood out to me the most while
2178s reading them pretending not to know what
2180s they already were was the vault changes
2182s yes so we have when you run up to a
2188s window in dead by daylight and you press
2191s the spacebar one of three things is
2193s going to happen which is kind of
2196s complicated in hindsight but that's kind
2198s of what we got if you weren't holding
2200s shift
2200s you're gonna very slowly and quietly
2202s creep over the window and that hasn't
2204s changed so we're calling like the Slovak
2206s let's call that the Slovak yeah now if
2208s you were holding shift what is that what
2210s does that call though when you're
2211s holding shift oh I don't want to get in
2213s we're doing this right now but it is
2214s okay if you hold shift and you do a
2216s thing any of them we call them rushed
2218s actions it's true so you can rush action
2219s into a locker I checked into a lock
2221s normally these are things that result in
2223s a loud noise notification bubble and the
2227s killer has the understanding where you
2228s are yeah yeah so if you rush a window
2231s but you didn't run at it well enough you
2235s get a medium vault this is the only time
2238s we have like a medium speed action in
2240s the game it's a little bit confusing and
2242s if you watch people stream dead by
2243s daylight they're probably gonna say they
2245s got a slow ball because they were
2246s angling for the really fast one then
2247s they got angry cuz it did they say it
2249s this low both of death or yeah or you
2251s know no there you go yeah crazed like it
2253s yeah so so yeah it's you know medium
2257s vault aka full vault which by the way
2259s back in the day used to be the slow
2262s animation used for the medium you just
2264s made it even more complicated than I was
2265s gonna make edge that's it anyway this is
2267s the animation that changed there was a
2269s change made to this type of vaulting the
2272s medium votes
2272s the medium vaults it was slightly sped
2275s up the animation was changed and we were
2277s using a slightly different system when
2280s you see just to make sure
2282s 0.1 second yes so that's a small change
2287s from one second to 0.7 seconds to adapt
2290s to the enemies yeah and the idea was to
2294s make it feel a little smoother to give
2296s you a little bit more momentum as you're
2298s exiting that vault a lot of people have
2302s experience I'm sure bolting the window
2304s your feet have land on the other side
2306s you're your man is not moving or a woman
2308s is not moving and then you get hit
2311s through the window and you go hey if I
2312s had kept moving at the speed I was just
2314s moving I probably wouldn't have gotten
2315s hit so hopefully that'll help with that
2318s it's using some new vaulting technology
2321s that we developed on the Legion which is
2323s kind of cool yeah so the idea for this
2331s right by the way was not to just
2332s straight buff survivors the idea was
2335s this is an animation that happens quite
2336s often in her game taking vaults taking
2338s windows and if it feels frustrating it's
2340s not fun for anyone I believe that we
2342s wanted to add something because more
2343s smooth and accurate for what we've got
2346s for the game is supposed to be applied
2347s for the killers and the survivors in the
2351s in the end in the end grand scheme and
2353s ultimately the fast vault is the most
2356s efficient and best way to get away from
2359s a killer as it pushes you further away
2360s from the window yep any finishing
2362s in-game just to confuse people more
2364s unfortunately it's currently titled
2366s running vault which is bad because you
2369s used the Run button to do this and so
2371s you can do you press your Run button in
2372s vault and not get a running vault I
2374s regret this this is kind of my fault

2426s similar and there's just a tiny hiccup
2428s at the end actually I was talking to a
2431s programmer about the hiccup and the in
2433s the new thing it's actually above it is
2435s a buggy we're looking to fix that as
2437s well so it should feel really smooth
2438s when you hit the ground you can keep
2440s going and there shouldn't be a hiccup
2442s this is gonna be coming at a later date
2443s though I don't believe this will be
2445s going out with this patch I have no
2446s dates to share yeah I have only the fact
2449s that I talked to a very clever
2450s programmer who identified the issue and
2452s said he was working on wonderful yeah

2464s little bit of work was done on chests in
2466s this patch and we're not talking about
2467s dedicate we're not talking hey all right
2471s so I saw someone drinking water it's
2475s good stuff that's good stuff so in the
2478s in the recent event the winter event yes
2481s people were getting goodies out of
2483s chests it's true goodies that they had
2485s not seen in many ages we're talking
2487s about not talking about firecrackers no
2489s we're talking about ultra rare items
2491s coming out of chests that was that was
2494s done on purpose
2494s yeah and people reacted pretty well to
2498s bed they wanted to go over to chests and
2500s see what they might find I think I felt
2502s a lot of excitement from players mad by
2504s were found in these looking for party
2508s stars and they just got this useless key
2510s but whatever it's cool it's fun so so we
2514s took another look at the rarity
2515s distribution in chests well I mean I
2517s think we it with you you did it for the
2519s base game yeah I helped so that I know
2523s he brought that into this patch which
2525s means that the rarity distribution in
2527s chests has been changed permanently so
2529s it's not just for events it means that
2531s you can go over to a chest and there
2533s will be a chance a small chance we're
2535s not I don't think we're even gonna
2536s reveal what the chance is today but
2538s there's a small chance no Joel ultra
2539s rare stuff no chance to reveal it but oh
2541s there's a chance for it to ask
2543s and now I'm confused okay so so there is
2547s now a chance to pull ultra rares out of
2548s chests and I think this is a good time
2553s to make a slight diversion into spicy
2556s upcoming changes yes absolutely so I I'm

2590s often talked about what we wanted to do

2596s so luck currently increases your chance
2599s to be able to jump off a hook yeah or
2601s get out of a bear trap yeah we'd like to
2603s we are those days I mean once upon a
2605s time had affected skill checks but that
2606s was that's long gone that was once part
2608s of time yeah so so what the way that
2611s luck will affect chests in the future
2613s yeah well yet again I'm not here with
2614s dates just what plans is that certain
2618s thresholds of luck will get you into new
2621s rarity distributions in your chest so
2623s you bring enough luck you're gonna start
2625s getting higher quality chests with
2626s better stuff and so you get better
2627s chances of finding good stuff and who's
2629s offering that includes offerings perks
2632s that increase your luck so add the ante
2634s you know it's planners instinct it's
2637s salty lips
2638s it's the chalk yeah salt to it all that
2642s funny fun stuff yes and the idea being
2645s that would have different chess rarities
2646s achieved by using different luck items
2650s and combining them together
2651s yep you might even see different
2655s rarities of chests by default in the
2657s game but that's what we're exploring oh
2659s like like a golden chest that has like
2661s my deal or something like that Matt left

2669s audio fixes and volume mixing yes I'm
2673s not even the expert on that I just know
2674s based on the feedback

2677s people care about a lot yeah and so we

2682s to improve audio and volume mixing so
2686s we'll be sending out a survey on Friday

2698s of audio in the game so you guys can pay

2703s too loud or this is too low or footsteps
2706s are so you guys can give us feedback on
2709s that and then we'll bring that back to

2778s point six meter characters have this 32

2783s there is a different turn radius it's
2785s probably going to be more of a like a 24

2851s right words so before the patch yeah in
2854s the game it would take two seconds to
2855s crouch her on crouch yeah there was an
2858s add-on called combat straps which is a
2860s common it was common and it was
2863s unusually strong I guess were unusually
2866s swingy for a common supa dupa because it
2869s would have the time required down to one
2871s set down to one second to run crouch
2873s opening up a completely different play
2875s style yeah
2876s or depending on your perspective closing
2878s off the play style if you didn't have it
2880s depending on whether you're a glass half
2882s full or glass empty or throw the glass
2884s on the ground kind of guy so so yeah so
2888s instead what we did is we brought the
2890s baseline down so it's 1.3 seconds inside
2893s of - yeah and the effect of combat
2896s straps will now remove that 0.3 seconds
2899s to bring it to one second so you could
2903s say that combat straps was nerfed but it
2905s wasn't because the end result if you put
2907s combat straps on is the same as before
2909s yeah waiting now if you don't have it
2910s you'll be better off yeah it's more
2912s similar to what a common would be at
2913s this point
2914s before I suspect it's still good and
2917s that people who are gonna be working on
2918s this might still want combat straps the
2920s pigs won't be having such a miserable
2921s time without it if you're used to that
2922s play style yeah
2923s hit us up the common straps are still
2925s useful for you or if they're just
2926s irrelevant at this point another piece
2929s of feedback we've gotten about the pig
2930s for a long time was her point game the
2934s business deviously yes so that has been
2937s increased hopefully that'll work out for

2962s was a associate contentious change I
2964s would say it was controversial even in

2970s self care says that you unlock the
2973s ability to heal yourself at half speed
2977s the new self care says you unlock the
2980s ability to heal yourself but dot then
2984s all of the healing that you do has a 25%
2987s speed penalty yeah so you heal yourself
2990s and others at reduced speed
2992s 75% 80% or more - 25 how you vote the
2996s glass again yeah so this is it's
2999s interesting right it made one of the one
3002s of the pros one of the things in favor
3004s of this change was that it was making
3005s people really eight this perk and think
3007s about it and possibly shake things up
3009s but you know a lot of people also didn't
3011s like the new gameplay or they were
3013s afraid since this is a very popular perk
3015s if everybody was forced to use this
3016s version what if I could have would there
3018s be would it tank the the altruistic
3022s nature of survivors and so on so we had
3025s an interesting discussion about this
3027s recently and thought well we we do like
3029s the new version we also don't want to
3031s take away the old version so a decision
3034s was made rather we're not going to put
3036s this version of self care out of life
3039s strip in this patch so in this PT be the
3042s one that you saw the self coverage
3044s you see will not be going live no with
3047s this release I'll live with this release
3048s but but there's another dot yeah what we
3052s would like to do is bring this in as its
3054s own perk in a future release as well for
3058s like another character or something as a
3060s general pool perk at that general pool

3104s roulette have some fun but the thing
3106s that is very sure for us right now is
3108s that this version that you saw on the P
3110s TV is not coming live that's the only
3113s sure thing right now yeah things are
3115s subject to change this is also why we
3116s this is one of those items on our list
3119s that was marked an apt B as something
3121s that it was subject to change or be
3122s removed mind you we have looked at the
3125s reddit and they have seen it on online
3126s where people are saying oh my god this
3128s is great oh my god I would hate this you

3358s speaking of highlights surveillance no
3361s highlight at the beginning of the game

3374s saying that surveillance was active at

3380s auras but it was a mistake in the patch
3383s notes and we just wanted to make sure
3384s that it was understood it was not a
3386s channel to the perk it was just a
3388s mistake in a bachelor can't regress the
3390s zero hmm yeah so big thing with
3393s surveillance is going over the changes
3395s and it's gonna increase the audio range
3397s of which where you can hear the actual
3400s generators so normally you can hear them
3402s within 60 meters now then you're like 24
3404s meters so this should be a lot more
3406s audible to a killer and that has
3410s happenings from the beginning of the
3411s game you don't have to kick a generator
3412s to get this effect that is happening at
3414s the very start after that once you
3415s started regressing the generator it will
3417s turn white and then when it's finished
3418s progressing it will turn yellow for a
3420s period of time now for those of you at
3422s home who know about discordance right
3425s discordance also turns the generator
3426s yellow but when there's two people
3428s working on it now if you're following
3430s the only time that it can
3431s yellow is that after it's been worked on
3433s so these two perks will overlap a little
3436s bit but they give you the same
3437s information yellow means generator being
3439s worked on yeah okay I get it
3441s even I can remember that you guys don't
3446s know all the perks and all the numbers
3447s by heart I used to I screw up it I'm so
3451s manyy okay I proved thyself
3454s now this one's I'm hearing a lot about
3456s this one so there's a lot of confusion
3458s running around currently about the
3460s change to prove thy self thy self a
3462s leader like what the actions are doing
3464s what is it Dwight do doesn't it Stan why

3476s first off we changed Dwight's two perks
3479s to prove myself and leader these two
3482s perks were buffing either Dwight himself
3484s depending on how many people were around

3492s it is we have changed the perks and
3494s selves so that proved thyself is now
3496s affecting repair and leader is affecting
3498s everything other all the other actions
3500s with the exception later when you're
3502s seeing all the other actions does that
3504s include volting no Jesus no I don't
3506s think so
3507s it used to back in the day I think we
3509s changed how we I think due to the way
3511s that we change the vaults it might end
3513s up happening that stuff like resilience
3516s proved thyself or leader that used to
3519s affect the whole thing is no longer
3521s affecting vaulting of course with the
3522s change that we've currently done then I
3524s believe that they won't be being
3525s effective and we eventually verify that
3527s it still has anything or not it's it's
3530s an interesting it's an interesting topic

3551s somebody else went along and did
3552s vaulting which was not one of those and
3554s realized hey this is making my vault
3557s faster and we looked at that and said
3560s yep and we identified the issue that was
3562s happen we said yep and then we took a
3564s look and said it would it be improving
3566s the game to fix this right now and we
3568s sat around and looked at it and thought
3569s no not really
3571s so we is this is I guess an example of
3574s tech that we thought was good for the
3576s game so we left it yeah I mean we
3577s weren't gonna start shouting from the
3579s rooftops hey this thing does this didn't
3581s want to emphasize the fact we did it
3583s right it in the Berk Brazilians have
3585s vaulting in the Berk so it's not working
3586s right now will be a bug but is it is it
3591s supposed supposed to act effective
3594s leaders numbers got real big now to the
3596s path of a point where it really thought
3598s it may no longer be safe or cool it
3602s might be toxic or bad so we'll have to
3607s get back to you on that one when we've
3609s made a mall but spine show resilience
3611s and our other flavorful perks that do
3614s that might regain the ability to do so
3617s that is to me well if resilience has
3620s volting in the description that's that
3623s would be a bug yeah but then you guys
3625s will have to decide what you still want
3627s the the perks to affect the vault I
3630s would expect resilience to be put back
3632s the way that it was can't it'll be to be
3634s fun fun a little bit of a fun bonus to
3637s your vaulting and spatula and spine
3639s chill all right these are broken they
3640s should be fixed the uncertainty is with
3643s new leader with its bigger numbers it
3645s might not be safe so okay we covered the
3648s vaulting yeah so can we go back to
3650s proves I saw of course we never left so
3654s intense proved thyself can we talk about
3658s the the action speed debuff or the not
3662s the actions people the efficiency debuff
3663s going work and co-op on a generator coop
3665s coop efficiency penalty or whoever I
3668s don't think we have the proper name I
3670s think we have about three or three names
3671s running around that we call this thing
3672s black yeah the coop efficiency debuff
3675s when more people are working on a
3677s generator each person is a little bit
3679s slower yeah such that if if two people
3682s are on a generator and each one has
3684s minus 10% so it's not a big difference
3686s it means that they are doing 180 percent
3689s instead of so that's why when two people
3691s get on the Jenner
3691s your bars starts beating it becomes red
3694s yeah now because you personally are
3697s going night was perfect okay so this
3701s feature we have talked about it before I
3703s wasn't working so we fixed it yeah this
3707s thing bounced around in the passionates
3708s the few times was supposed to be under
3710s bug fix that I haven't found it's not
3712s it's under your banner graphic yeah
3715s because we're like well it's it's a it's
3717s a fix that affects the game balance so I
3720s went back for three times always been in
3722s the game it's just fixed from a previous
3725s but yes it broke
3726s now it's fixed so it seems really
3731s dramatic but if you are repairing a
3735s generator by yourself it doesn't change
3737s the game if you are repairing two people
3739s on a generator you each get slowed by 10
3741s percent yeah if you have three people on
3743s a generator you will now notice probably
3744s a difference that you'll be going slower
3746s but even then since you're three people
3747s on a generator you're still faster or
3749s else we're all still faster than one
3751s person it's just slower than it was
3752s before
3753s as everyone developers now that's that's
3755s clear we jump on proved thyself proved
3758s thyself right so it's coming in yeah and
3761s it's it's let's say almost cancelling
3765s out the video right so let's just put it
3770s this way let's compare to the previous
3772s patch if you put on proved thyself and
3775s you go and you do a generator with your
3777s buddies you are not doing it any faster
3780s than you were in the previous patch so
3783s the perk was not doing anything to it oh
3785s no you mean if everyone on your team is
3789s playing prove myself and gives the buff
3792s to two other people well though it
3794s doesn't stack on itself
3795s okay so proved thyself you can only have
3797s one instance up I mean the new one the
3799s new one we should talk about the old uh
3800s old one okay
3802s no in fact let's say that you were using
3804s proof theyself old yeah okay let's take
3806s a situation where you have three people
3807s and they're all using proved thyself on
3810s the previous patch and this patches on
3811s the PTB mm-hmm the people on the PTP are
3813s going to be repairing slower not faster
3818s with proved thyself with
3819s okay yeah I just wanted to make sure
3821s that with seeing as we seeing as we
3823s fixed the multiple repairer efficiency
3826s issue they are now going to be doing it
3828s slower than they were before so I guess
3830s we've seen immediately everybody jumped
3832s on to the social media and wrote oh my
3834s goodness it's Jen rush time as I know
3836s it's now slower than it was before and
3840s between ptb and live there will be some
3844s issues straightened out with new proved
3845s thyself that'll actually slow it down a
3847s little bit more than what it is on the
3848s PTB yeah so there was issues where so
3852s right now what book myself does do for
3854s those of you at home for each other
3856s person working on the generator never
3858s than yourself everyone will be working
3861s on the Jenner who would get a bonus to
3863s the repair speed now if that means that
3866s there are three other people other than
3867s myself and I'm the person who's using
3868s the perk it means that everyone's
3870s getting a 30% increase but to the repair
3873s speak including me including yeah so
3876s everyone's getting a 30% increase
3877s because naturally using the repair
3880s efficiency debuff everyone's getting a
3882s negative 30% efficiency right now these
3886s don't cancel each other out they get
3887s really close right we could we could we
3890s could fudge the numbers that a lot of
3893s people are confused can we rewind and
3895s try to think of it so you're preparing a
3898s generator alone without a perk yep how
3901s long does that take it's gonna take you
3903s eighty seconds unless you can take two
3905s people together with the new debuff on
3908s or you go up actually 0.44 for repeating
3911s 44.4 sec okay 44.4 so it's still an
3914s advantage to work to on a generator oh
3916s yeah three people together on a
3918s generator Jesus amazing I don't remember
3922s 30-something it used to be 26 some odd
3924s now it's gonna be like 33 someone so
3927s okay so it's slower than the previous
3929s patch now yeah three people working on a
3931s generator with proved thyself on it will
3934s be almost the same 20 something seconds
3938s that it was before okay a little bit
3941s yeah it was before yeah as three people
3945s so like yeah we looked at the numbers
3947s and we're like do we want this to
3948s completely cancel out the efficiency
3950s penalty and
3951s we didn't really want to push it further
3953s I I can't rule out the fact we might do
3956s it at some point just for the sake of
3957s consistency that what that would mean is
3959s that if you throw us proved thyself on
3960s and you go and you do multiple person
3962s repair you'll see a neutral bar saying
3963s hey you are not being slowed down by the
3965s fact that you are doing a multiple
3967s person repair it's not there yet so you
3970s currently doesn't quite cancel out the
3972s the penalty yeah so right now you can
3975s get a total of thirty percent increase
3976s maximum when using prove myself even if
3980s everybody's talking about that yeah you
3991s can when you can you can trust your your
3994s your bar color if your bar color is red
3996s that means that you personally are
3998s repairing it less than a hundred percent
4000s speed if your bar is yellow that means
4003s you personally are repairing it more
4004s than 100 percent speed so if you know
4006s you and your buddies are all on the
4008s generator your bar is red you know that
4009s that means you're not doing it like I
4012s just want to reiterate how you are not
4014s repairing faster than you did in a
4016s previous batch with that being said
4017s though there have been videos that we're
4020s taking on the P TV should we say that
4022s the man say whatever you want my friend
4025s Chuck dollar toast alert oh yeah totally
4027s put up and yet shown that we can just
4031s destroy generators I think it took about
4032s 14 15 seconds yeah there was a bug with
4035s proved thyself and the percentage that
4037s was being applied to you when you were
4040s using a tool kit which was knocking you
4042s even above the amount that you should be
4043s getting so the actual speed will be
4046s lower and it should not be higher than
4048s what you can currently get online so
4049s that is going to be fixed before it's
4052s out on life yes okay thank god yes yeah
4058s I didn't want to get into it but yeah
4059s there's a bug with proved thyself on the
4061s PTB where it's it's affecting other
4063s modifiers he said locally so it's it's
4065s not multiplying things incorrectly it's
4067s not supposed to so yeah so if if you
4069s were trying to check out and push the
4071s limit of what was possible on the PTB
4073s you'd probably stack as many repair
4074s speed a lot of fires as you could and
4076s proved thyself was interacting with
4078s those in an incorrect manner it's
4080s going to do that once it yeah okay we
4082s have a four minute left so not is there
4086s anything else you guys want to add on
4087s the PTB guys in chat we're talking ptb
4091s today that's the main the main
4094s discussion so that's why these guys were
4097s here with us I got through my bullet

4103s including vaults other than that if you
4105s stand with and range you increase other
4106s people's actions and it's not including
4109s generator repairs no repairs are
4112s included in that perfect ammeter all
4114s right so just to sum it sum it up well
4120s we haven't we had a couple of questions
4121s but we kind of answered them as we went
4123s along we had a question about the fact
4126s that this is a very strong legion buff
4127s that was included in the PTB and any
4130s questions about counter play what can
4132s you do about this change which is in
4134s fact the very same question we asked
4136s ourselves and decided that we didn't
4137s want to go forward with said change well
4140s there there was another question about
4142s the amplified effects of self care and
4145s we had asked ourselves the same question
4147s and decided we're not currently going
4149s forward with this version of self care
4151s and a question about survival rates
4154s which is always a really interesting
4156s question but I didn't bring enough stats
4158s on survival rates to make any strong
4160s points so we'll have to leave that for

1218s thyself equipped does not gain any
1220s repair speed bonus for each survivor
1222s working on the same generator we know
1223s about that and yeah when a survivor
1226s disconnects their icon there's not
1228s update to disconnected status known
1231s issue right now the blood web doesn't
1235s refresh properly when switching
1236s characters while on the level of prompt
1238s that is a known issue right now there is
1243s a prestige exploit that's being used
1247s right now I just want to do a little
1249s public announcement here to let people
1252s know that it is something that if you do
1255s it you are most likely gonna get back so
1260s let's put it out there app now you tell
1262s me no worth it you can do it I'm not

1380s okay so Wednesday Wednesday January 30th
1384s and 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time is
1387s the beginning of the new year event the
1389s Chinese New Year event the moon rise
1390s cool yes okay so it starts on January
1394s 30th and it ends when
1397s it ends on February 13th also Wednesday
1400s that's two weeks later cool all right
1404s what what's gonna what's the point
1407s what's happening oh my gosh there's so
1409s much please take me to it so we put
1413s together again an event where people can
1415s play there's gonna be special rule
1416s special thing is happening and rewards
1418s that you can earn by doing these fellow
1420s special mechanics awesome rewards I am a
1424s huge fan I think it's up to everybody to
1425s decide how many show some cosmetics and
1428s some people have seen them cuz they go
1430s diggin files but let's show them for
1432s real please so actually so this is the
1439s mechanics for the thing not the
1440s cosmetics no sorry that's the first one
1441s wrong image that's fine so for the
1448s mechanics the way that you get points in
1450s the event is that we have this new
1451s object response in the world that are
1453s called the vessels these are the lunar
1455s vessels and that the survivors are
1457s trying to grab these and escape with
1459s them so you're gonna see them in there
1461s and more of them are going to spawn
1463s based on how many offerings that you
1464s play so there's two normally but for
1466s each offering that somebody brings
1467s another one is gonna be in the trial so
1470s that's that's the survivor side you're
1473s trying to grab these and get out now the
1474s killers can stop you from having this
1476s because they once they hook you you lose
1479s yours and it goes back to where it's
1481s spawned so that's the trick is that
1482s every time that you grab it you're going
1484s to have to watch out for getting hooked
1486s I'd be go to that so this is what
1490s happens when you grab it is that it
1491s shows up on your UI you can see it in
1493s the upper right that you you have one of
1495s these vessels that you're holding and we
1498s can go to the next slide you can see
1502s kind of subtly is that there's a sort of
1504s glow with his particles around the
1505s character because he's carrying the
1506s vessel wait someone's asking if we can
1508s lower the background music there seems
1511s to be background music that's in the way
1513s of of course dulcet tones Wow
1516s do go on so killers can tell who's
1519s carrying one of the lunar vessels or not
1521s and if they hook somebody who has the
1523s vessel it gets destroyed from that
1525s character and put back on one of its
1526s holders so the survivors have to watch
1529s out they sort of a wrist
1530s reward effector here where you grab it
1533s and you're trying to escape with it but
1535s can you get out before you get caught
1536s it's it's pretty tough so can you grab
1539s it just as the exits open you can grab
1542s it at any time the exception is that the
1545s killers also have a way to destroy them
1548s so we're gonna go to the next couple
1549s slides so this one you can barely see
1552s there's a character there in the
1554s background you can dis a little glow on
1555s that character it's right next to the
1557s rock you know you can see yeah you can't
1559s see it with this this monitor but if you
1561s check on the stream I'm sure you can see
1562s it okay but there's a glow in that
1564s character it's pretty easy to tell when
1566s somebody's carrying this vessel so it's
1567s you got to watch out for that okay and
1569s we go to the next one now that these
1572s characters are put onto one of the hooks
1574s the vessels been destroyed from them you
1576s can also see the ACE is wearing one of
1578s the new outfits that we've got for the
1579s event so this is the lunar version of
1583s aces outfit so it's not gonna suck bad
1589s if you're fighting to get your vessel
1591s and you get it stripped from you at the
1594s last minute yeah don't let that happen
1596s okay
1596s that's the answer is that we are we are
1598s definitely pushing people to take this
1600s extra risk for saying that you don't
1602s have to do this but if you want to make
1603s a lot of progress in the event the best
1605s thing you can do is grab the vessel and
1606s take that risk onto yourself and say
1608s people might catch me but I've got to be
1610s really careful and I'll let that happen
1612s if you take the risk early you like you
1614s know you have a vessel but if you take
1616s it late I mean maybe they're already all
1617s gone mm-hmm we can have to go to the
1620s next slide
1620s thus Franklin's demise one of my
1623s favorite perks no work on the lanterns
1626s it doesn't these vessels are not
1627s considered I don't in the sense that
1630s like yeah we want you to be able to have
1632s both like a medkit yeah and one of these
1634s at the same time it doesn't take that
1635s slot it doesn't show up in your hand or
1637s anything we did toss that around when we
1639s were doing early development but we
1642s ended up not going with that direction
1644s because we thought that it just was more
1646s fun to still have your toolboxes and med
1648s kits yeah no that makes sense now this
1649s is a version of a vessel that was read
1654s above Martez what's the reason that it's
1657s read is because somebody's on a hook now
1659s when it's in the state sees a new
1660s interaction for the kill
1661s here and that is destroyed so when when
1664s there's somebody on a hook all the
1666s vessels turn red and their killer can
1668s destroy them and that's how the killer
1669s gets their points the event survivors
1671s are trying to escape with the vessels
1673s and killers are trying to destroy them
1678s many questions but I think it's gonna
1681s make it it's gonna make it really
1685s intense it's gonna make very well very
1687s intense fights it is very intense to
1690s make sure that everybody can also be
1692s getting progress even if they don't
1693s escape or even if they aren't able to
1695s destroy the vessels a very important
1697s point yeah every time that a generator
1699s is done all the survivors get a small
1702s number of points ah and every time the
1704s third killer hooks somebody the killer
1706s gets a small number of points so if
1708s you're playing the game just playing the
1710s game yeah normal let's say you didn't
1712s even pay attention and you didn't know
1713s an event was going on which I impossible
1715s is there's so much cool stuff going on
1717s of course however you might still
1719s collect enough points to get a few
1721s things right just by playing the game
1722s whether you succeed or fail you will get
1724s a small number of points slowly with
1726s each game assuming you're doing
1728s generators and hooks which I hope that
1729s you are but if you if you check out the
1732s vessels and you try to escape with them
1733s you have a big payday waiting for you
1735s and you can make a lot of progress yeah
1741s some people are already trying to devise
1744s strategies how to screw everyone out of
1746s everything that sounds like that's great
1751s I mean that's good there is a very
1753s competitive aspect to this where the
1754s killer has you know they're competing
1755s for the same resource I mean so my
1757s results not a game where both sides are
1760s trying to help each other that's and
1762s that's definitely one of our targets for
1764s this event is to make something that
1765s sort of goes on top of the normal DVD
1767s gameplay yeah that you're already trying
1769s to catch people you're already trying to
1772s figure out how you can hide it from the
1774s killer and not get caught yeah and now
1776s we can say there's another thing you can
1778s do there's a new dimension a new
1779s optional reward for people who want to
1781s take that on yes many questions are
1786s popping up later mods actually tried to
1790s wade through that and find the
1793s once oh yeah I got a few questions about
1796s who voiced the Legion yeah I don't know
1800s that one

1902s those who aren't paying attention it
1904s starts next Wednesday the 30th and it is

1963s right can each each time that you finish
1965s it you get one of the coins you get one
1966s of the golden coins one golden coins is
1969s one piece one one cosmetic okay you can
1973s spend it on whatever you want from the
1974s event you can get the nice Huntress
1976s oh and you can get work day nine coins
1978s exactly okay so technically you could
1980s get all the pieces of all the outfits
1982s you can that if you get all nine coins
1984s that's three pieces for three outfits I
1987s assume this would require quite a
1989s dedication during the event yes it
1992s certainly does I think you'll find that
1994s the first couple are much easier to get
1995s the first one kind of takes a hundred
1998s points the second one takes two hundred
1999s points the next one takes three hundred
2001s points and so on exactly and so on but
2004s we do have some very dedicated players
2006s so I assume certainly be able to get all
2009s yeah we expect quite a few are going to
2011s be able to get all of them what happens
2014s when you completed the quota what points
2016s is there to continue to run the the
2018s blessing so you can still play the
2020s offering and if you do you will still
2022s get the special blood points that you
2024s get when you pick up one of the vessels
2026s or carry one of the vessels for a while
2028s or escape with one you get special blood
2030s points for all of that and that all
2031s comes only if you played the offering
2033s that's still true it's still a good way
2036s to get blood points do you have to play
2038s both sides or can you collect all the
2040s points by playing just survivor or just
2043s kill it you can play it either way you
2046s don't have to play both sides the points
2047s they're all kind of funneled store the
2049s same moon in the end so there's just one
2051s moon
2051s all right I've actually tried to work it
2053s so it's balanced based on whichever side
2055s you play neither should be faster Oh

2401s still be possible to spend for the short

2408s when you get them well you have a little
2410s leeway so they'll expire on February

2418s two-week period after that if you
2420s haven't spent them they're still there
2422s for or excels they're not gone all is

2428s map so this is the thing that's based on
2431s offerings the more offerings that are
2433s played the more them there will be so by
2435s default there's two and then one more
2437s for each offering so it goes up at the
2438s seven okay

2447s escape either way you escape it's yeah

2451s uh do you blow with the lantern when

2462s blocks the effect 99% of the time
2467s so maybe in some instances that's a

2471s wave violence I've seen a hint of a glow
2473s through it once one out of a million
2475s times it definitely does happen so
2477s you're not completely safe but it's
2480s still a good hiding spot all right fair

2483s can you take multiple vessels at the

2487s so there's no way to escape with more
2489s than one no nope you don't like you so
2491s greedy survivors can only hold one
2492s killers can break as many as they can
2494s get their hands on okay and if I
2499s remember once the survivors hooked even
2501s if they're unhooked the killer still has
2502s a small window to destroy a lantern
2504s right so you're at the amount of time
2506s you have to destroy the vessels is based
2508s on it how long they're on the hook
2509s so looking does it take for a killer to
2511s destroy a lantern it's pretty fast
2513s yeah second two second three seconds
2516s these things matter yeah I don't I
2520s didn't do the timing okay it's probably
2521s less than three seconds it's pretty

2523s yeah can you drop the lantern to fool
2526s the killer into thinking you're in the

2574s game so it's you can destroy as many as

2579s destroy one you have to go hook somebody

2589s find them first so it's very challenging

2593s it's worth a good number of points then

2623s that this one actually is built in that
2625s direction that it actually encourages
2627s people to just play the game and if you
2628s just don't care about the event and want
2630s to play DVD it's still gonna be fun

2640s objectives this is something that we
2642s think is good for us and for the game to
