Hello guys!

Let us introduce ourselves - we are Dead by Daylight community moderators.

We're helping hard working developers at BHVR Interactive to keep this forum nice and clean.

So we've talked to the team and put together some basic rules for DbD discussion board.

Forum Rules
  • Please refrain from harassing and insulting other community members.
These posts will be deleted and repeated offenders will get banned.
You will get one warning before you are banned.

  • Follow the thread's topic. If thread gets heavily derailed, it will get locked.

  • Please create threads which have a clear topic. For example, thread with a name "Green salad" and description "That is all", will get locked, because it's meaningless and has nothing to offer.

  • You can't discuss your or any other person's gamebans/forum bans on the forums in any way. All ban appeals go strictly to support.deadbydaylight.com

  • Please do not make light of serious issues (e.g. “This is cancer/aids”)

  • All kinds of discussions about premeditated attacks on any of our outlets (spam, witchhunts, DDoS, etc) are not allowed. If you're trying to gather a group of people with malicious intent of spamming and/or attacking us on the media, you will be banned.

  • No naming and shaming. We understand that there are always going to be trolls and such in the game, but please abstain from creating a thread with public shaming. If the matter is truly outrageous, you can always contact any of our community moderators and discuss the issue:

    MandyTalk
    Gay Myers (Luzi)
    Djent_Lady (EN/RU)
    PSfix (EN/RU)

You can also contact support for game issues: support.deadbydaylight.com

  • Do not encourage DC. Posts like "If I see you playing as Jake with a toolbox, I disconnect" and such will be removed. Do not spoil the game for other community members.

  • Don't try to bypass Steam Censor Filter. Repeated offenders will get banned.
We would like to point out, that you are absolutely free to talk about anything you'd like as long as it's related to the game and the discussion is kept civil and constructive.

What does this mean - "procedurally generated maps?"
Originally posted by Dave Richard BHVR: Procedurally generated means the map are dynamicly beuild out of rules. We are not going as far as generating the terrain. We use a tile system which ensures the game is balanced and the maps are different everytime creating uncertainty about where the objectives are and what the exact layout is.

Basically, there is no way to learn the maps = stress!
Will there be an AI?
No, all roles are filled with real players, to ensure that you have the most terrifying experience.

Where are my Anniversary Rewards?
Family Shared accounts are not eligible for the anniversary rewards. The game-owning account is granted these rewards.

Do you always need 5 people to start the match?
Originally posted by Dave Richard BHVR: The ranked mode (main mode) requires 5 players. The kill your friends mode (which is for funsies) can be played with 2 to 5 players. The game auto-balances to the current amount of survivors.
What about dedicated servers?
DbD uses P2P (peer-to-peer) connection, meaning that person playing as a Killer will be hosting a lobby anyone can join from all over the world.

Will there be a first person view for survivors?
Originally posted by Dave Richard BHVR: Now for first person survivor: I think it would be fun to play the game in first person as the survivor, some sort of hard mode. In the same vein I think it would also be nice to play it without some of the UI. It's something the team have looked into before. We`ve tried many crazy things during production and even encountered some bugs that looked like cool modes.

That said, the reality of developing games is that we have to chose what we build in the time we have left. So for now, these options are in the backlog, meaning that we might implement them later, but not now. We're focusing on what makes the game fun and balanced.
How do I get my free PAYDAY 2 masks?
Just join DbD official group:

Buy the Deluxe version:
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/102104/

What about game modes, leveling up and Ranked games?
Use "Survive with Friends" mode for that.

Will DbD have controller support?
Yes, it already has.

Will I be able to upgrade my Standard version to the Deluxe?
Official response from Mathieu: "No. Probably not."

What about localization?
English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Russian and Chinese languages are available in game.

About Ranks:
Rank is a personal score that is used for competitive matches, matchmaking and ranking on leaderboards. The game contains 20 ranks and every season the rank will reset. There is one separate rank for Survivor and one for Killer.

A season is one month. As a new season begins, ranks are reset. Players start at Rank 20 and the top Rank is 1. If a player goes below zero in their Pip count, they will go down one Rank.

To go up in Ranks, the player needs to earn "Pips". Each Rank requires different amounts of Pips.

Gaining Pips

Earn points to fill your ranking bar
Pass a threshold to earn a Pip
You can earn up to 2 Pips in a match
Each category has a threshold
Bloodpoints collected beyond the threshold will be banked but will not continue to count towards your ranking
Collect enough pips to rise up a rank

Losing Pips

Fail to earn enough Bloodpoints and you lose a Pip
Lose enough Pips and you will drop a rank

Season End

A season lasts one month, and every month the season ends, resetting the Rank. The player is awarded one pip per Rank accumulated.

So, basically, if you were Rank 1 Trapper, you will be Rank 14 Trapper in the new season, based on this table:

Rank Pips to Level Up 20 - 16 3 15 - 13 4 12 - 1 5
Season ends on 13th of each month.

Where are the 5-Packs?
It was an exclusive deal, it ended on May 31st.

Wouldn't this game get repetitive?
Originally posted by cbessette_BHVR: Each game, the level is procedurally generated following a preselected map layout which means the objectives and key gameplay elements are never to be found exactly the same places from game to game. The map layouts determine the shapes and the sizes of the levels to be generated and everything within it is randomly distributed. That's a key point of Dead by Daylight, since fear is such an important element of the game. Keeping it unpredictable is crucial and a big part of what makes it so unique.

Watch out for the BAN HAMMER! Hello good people of the fog,

I am happy to announce that we have now given our mods more tools to detect, chase down and punish evil-doers.
For the good people of the fog, looking for more exciting games with fun, serious players this is great news.
The bad people trying to cheat, hack, stream-snipe, grief and ruin other people's enjoyment, you will be banned.

Some of the bannable offenses:
-Streaming hostile, hateful behaviour.
-Stream sniping
-Achievement hacks, in any way, shape or form.
-Illicit ways to obtain inventory items
-Using third-party site or software to join specific games
-Being a bot

Anything that goes against Steam guidelines, obviously.

Of course, we will make sure to have proof, not just heresay or reports. And by the way, streaming or uploading a video of yourself doing one of these things will be considered very valid proof.
