1077s news and announcements yes first thing
1081s first matchmaking that's the big one
1085s yeah so I just had a chat with Fred Z or
1089s delightful technical director who told
1092s me we have designed a brand new
1095s algorithm for our matchmaking
1098s we are currently low testing it right
1101s now what is a load testing we are making
1104s sure that it functions properly not just
1107s in theory but with actual requests
1110s coming in we will when we're satisfied
1114s that it works and that it actually does
1116s better than the system that's currently
1119s in place we will roll it out slowly
1121s which means that probably within the
1124s next two to three weeks we will start
1127s you know with a slider saying that 10%
1131s of the population will now be using the
1134s new algorithm
1135s and if that works well then we'll crank
1137s it up to 30 and then 50 and then at some
1138s point everybody will be on a new system
1140s because it'll be better and then you
1143s will see that happen the first step of
1147s that which is gonna happen within as I
1149s said two to three weeks maybe this is
1151s gonna be changes to the back end so
1154s nothing on the client side you will not
1156s the client by the way for those of you
1158s out there who don't know the client is
1160s is you is not a client as a customer but
1163s a client as the software that you're
1165s running on your machine the back end
1167s being the software that's running on our
1170s machines so that are doing some of the
1173s work anyway
1174s the point is we will be rolling some
1176s changes to our back-end and that will
1179s improve things greatly there's a second
1181s phase that will come later I don't have
1183s a better date for you right now but when
1185s we do will tell you those changes will
1188s be in the flow of the client which means
1190s that when you get into the game you will
1192s notice that it doesn't say create Lobby
1194s anymore it will say look for a game or
1196s something like that I'm not sure the
1198s details of how we'll make it happen
1200s but it's actually gonna change the
1201s experience how you do it will put some
1204s information giving you what already and
1207s we have everything down what's coming in
1210s but yes there's gonna be a post
1213s explaining all the consequences that you
1215s can see from a player side and also
1218s what's coming up next for that that's
1220s great that is correct
1222s what we're gonna do that's it for

1228s so the Game Awards are coming up which
1231s is kind of a big deal for grown-ups in
1234s the game industries and it's happening
1238s December 6th it will be broadcast

1246s exactly who - yay you I'm not sure what
1250s you're trying to but you're not very
1252s good at charades

1390s discord server for DVD we didn't we
1393s didn't oh now we do is so we contacted
1397s the larger community discord group to
1402s actually make the discord server
1404s official and after discussion and after
1407s changing a little bit of the things
1409s because they were doing really good and
1412s that server is already almost
1414s twenty-five thousand strong and yeah
1419s that's a lot of people and we are going
1422s to announce it and send the the link to
1424s join this discord server official
1426s detective discord server right after the
1428s stream I thought it was really cool like
1430s I've always I've admired this discord
1432s actually over time they have teaching
1434s yes
1435s sexual school yeah yeah where you can
1438s actually learn from people on how to
1439s play the game and whatnot they have
1441s tutors that give you tricks you jump
1444s into a killer friend you try a stuff you
1446s you they give you tricks and how-to how
1448s to play the game so that's actually
1450s really awesome so we're we're making
1454s this discord official we're not changing
1457s their activities so we're gonna continue
1459s doing what they're doing before because
1461s they were doing it really good but we're
1464s just gonna try to support more what they
1466s were doing so yeah Congrats to the team

1475s cool okay we have some data to job Oh
1479s people like hard facts can you give them
1483s I feel hard fact we can show them some
1485s artifacts I'm gonna do this even better

1491s this is the escape rate at different
1493s ranks as you can see on this chart the
1496s left side is the percentage of escape
1498s that you have to escape at different
1501s ranks on PS PC ps4 and on Xbox one
1505s they're all very close together so what
1507s do we take out of these stats right
1509s there well if you look at if you look at
1511s these really quickly you notice that I
1512s had lower ranks or rank 20 you have a
1515s lower escape rate and as people climb
1517s the ranks they have a higher and higher
1519s escape rate it sounds logical I think so
1522s right there's a clear drop at 3 what
1524s that you'd expect the killers to be
1526s better to but the thing is the this we
1529s always knew that survivors with better
1531s perks equipped and and better more perks
1535s tend to have a better survival yeah you
1538s can also notice that piece ps4 actually
1540s is a higher survival rate between like
1542s 15 to 12 managers drops quite
1546s interesting at the end well it's like
1549s every other piece of data it's it's it
1552s doesn't tell the whole story it's about
1553s interpreting it and putting it in the
1555s right context and figuring out what to
1557s do so yeah so that was from a question
1559s that was asked from the community who
1561s wanted to know the escape rate and also
1564s ways to know before they say the
1566s variation from the lowest to the highest
1569s is still less than 10 percent or about
1572s 10 percent which is not a great
1574s variation it's not that big and it means
1577s also that the survival rate of survivors
1579s is below 50% yes for all everywhere yeah
1583s whatever you go they get angry set
1585s before their mic reset that's just
1588s before the ok I don't know if it changes
1591s otherwise over a full month or we're not
1592s gonna keep an eye on this as well can we
1595s see the next slide
1595s oh my god we catch so much information
1598s isn't it so this is the escape rate per
1600s map this is very interesting but it's
1602s always been very interesting always but
1604s we know that some of the maps are more
1606s survivor favorable yeah I could see how
1609s the game in the hospital which are our
1611s bottom two would be harder to saw up on
1614s especially since the light is harder to
1615s obscure - Maps yeah as well
1619s is really hard there's no grass yeah and
1622s the hiding is different also
1624s exactly Ron feels completely cornfield
1629s that's the cornfield like if you look
1632s three of the corn maps are on the top
1634s five yeah and then there's the family
1636s residence which I call bamboo corn
1639s because obviously that's still corn I'm
1641s sure yeah that map is hard for a killer
1645s it's not hard I had a good game
1649s yesterday there though but it's really
1651s tough
1651s give me it was the opposite no there was
1653s a miss offering and then the choice of
1657s the choice of uh you know of cosmetics
1660s that were coming with and yeah it was a
1662s was intense
1664s I guess yeah again the deviation is not
1666s more than ten percent
1667s yeah that's it's very very close to the
1670s the average that we've always had in
1672s mind
1672s yeah it's great next slide please I want
1675s to note I was surprised about preschool
1678s preschool wasn't it lower than I thought
1681s yeah percentage the survivor is getting
1684s more per platform so it looks like the
1688s Xbox users as last week have been quite
1690s excited and murdering two people ps4 has
1693s been a little bit you know relaxed but I
1696s don't know what to take of this like I
1698s want to make some wild interpretations
1700s and saying that maybe some populations
1703s are more they're more frivolous with
1706s they're more ease and they don't keep
1708s them forever what kind of planning keep
1713s in mind that the ps4 had the lowest
1715s escape rate yeah even though they're the
1718s ones who have gotten worried the least
1719s so maybe killers are feeling like sorry
1721s if you just bleed out I guess we don't
1725s matter kill them whatever but they're
1726s definitely not worrying them alright or
1728s at least 2.2 percent of the time also
1729s very low percentages yeah
1731s next slide please oh yeah this is the
1734s killer character with the most more ease
1735s on average hmm oh yeah that's uh
1738s so actually we count this as kills right
1741s but like actual like animated kills
1744s which explains why shape and spirit are
1747s so high compared to the rest yes so the
1749s shape has the add-on
1750s yeah right yes
1752s stone and the tombstone which allows
1753s them to stay and kill people yep Stan
1755s Mori so I can see how the shape would be
1758s at the top Spirit has a rancor yeah
1760s which is quite popular way of killing
1762s inflation its future the hag on the
1770s other hand has devouring a hole and the
1772s pig has rbt's so the hag is also I think
1774s one of the favourites in terms of more
1777s ease yeah like the animation is really
1779s really cool yeah rip out those it's just
1783s random apart yes it's great its bits
1787s random studio objects that we have
1789s decided to grab out of some survivors
1791s are just laying around
1792s yeah so I believe is that it we have one

1817s I mean it's not just ours so if you want
1820s this to become the game that you want it
1822s to be then you let us know and look at
1826s the numbers so inside the survey there
1829s was also like a part about the the
1831s hallowed blight event yep
1833s and our take on it I mean I'm not gonna
1835s go in numbers but our take on it is that
1838s bugs and gameplay issues had either
1843s effect that the the satisfaction with
1846s the event was not so great for bug and
1848s gameplay issues yeah
1850s however we have a crazy high number for
1855s automatics so the animation that were
1858s included in the event and also the
1862s journal entries so all the Lord of all
1864s the lore things that were coming with
1866s the event yeah and I knew that well I
1869s was very hopeful that people would
1870s appreciate them but the the stats on
1873s this really blew me away I'm happy that
1875s people really got off and really enjoyed
1878s it the take that we have on this
1881s feedback actually has like everything
1883s that's feedback has been
1885s sent to the the event team and we are
1888s very aware of what went well and what
1891s went less well yeah so it's so learning
1897s all the time we try something new what
1899s we do and we learn from it we learn from
1902s the reaction keep trying new things yes
1904s great some of these cool automatics
1907s probably also also even during the event
1910s there was a lot of feedback and I think
1912s that I was in here but I think the team
1915s had a really good response so yeah yeah
1919s yeah thank you and thank you for the
1921s feedback because that's why actually
1923s there was a reaction sharing because
1926s there was feedback like that as well
1930s questions and then sir soap oh yes
1934s before well actually we're getting to
1938s that yeah last week we had we had
1941s planned an entire video Q&A and we
1944s realized that from the questions we had
1946s that we didn't have enough answers to
1948s actually make an entire thing about it
1950s so we selected a few questions from the
1952s Q&A that we're gonna answer here life
1955s today so and maybe a few from the chat
1959s also I don't know if you have a screen
1962s on that with the mods so we can start
1965s with the ones that are yeah written
1967s there yeah yeah I don't have questions
1972s in the mods yet much love so there were
1979s lots of ideas from the community on how
1982s to fix or rework Freddie a question from
1985s winters will Freddie ever get his rework
1988s similar to what the community suggested
1990s or even get a rework at all so a great
1993s question I know we've talked about
1994s Freddie quite often and I know that we
1996s hear about feedback from Freddie quite
1998s often as well so what I wanted to
2000s address today in regards to this
2002s question were what we're trying to
2005s address with it with the changes for
2007s Freddie we're trying to stop making
2008s changes we are making changes we're
2010s looking at what kind of changes we can
2012s do but specifically what we believe the
2015s community is looking for
2016s Yeah right and the KVS that we are
2018s trying to work with when we do this
2019s change and also before we go into
2022s details for Freddy can you explain a
2024s little bit what's the process because
2026s people are like whoa why why is it not
2028s done already and they're asking that
2030s over and over again and it's difficult
2033s to explain that sometimes we go all the
2036s way up to prototyping and then we decide
2039s - okay no scratch that we're going back
2041s to the drawing board so can you explain
2044s us what's the the process when we design
2047s in you or we've redesigned a new feature
2049s like that yeah okay so nobody la it's
2053s quite interesting we'd like to try a lot
2055s of things notice so we can do some
2058s really wacky things at the same time
2059s some of them don't work
2061s you might not even see I mean they
2063s probably haven't even seen or heard of
2066s tried a lot of things that actually
2068s stayed hidden forever great or it wasn't
2072s good enough it wasn't for us yeah yeah
2080s some fun things like that or you know
2082s like Myers could kill people as a base
2085s thing as its power and then we decided
2086s to scrap that so we go through learning
2089s processes right for killers themselves
2092s it takes a little bit more time to go
2094s back to the drawing board and really try
2096s to iron out something that makes senses
2098s and it's fun we always have to keep in
2100s mind the community and how they're
2101s playing with the killer how they're
2102s enjoying the killer and what they don't
2104s like otherwise we'll just be giving
2105s something that is not enjoyable by
2107s anybody yeah going from the theoretical
2111s phase so basically the paper phase and
2112s like ideas and whatnot and going into a
2114s realistic production sometimes can come
2117s up with revealing a lot of issues that
2119s we did not foresee because it looks so
2121s great on paper yeah and then you end up
2124s playing it and then you're like hey you
2126s know why we can keep that part but the
2128s rest needs to go yeah and so what does
2130s that mean when we go all the way up to
2132s creating a prototype and having to go
2135s back yeah so I'd like to do a little
2137s segue and if we can put this a response
2139s and paws and answer the next question
2141s you can do what you want
2143s so I'll ask the questions we're gonna
2145s come back to worry about it they're not
2147s done with that yet but I feel like it
2148s I'm gonna
2149s the next question and I well technically
2150s you answer the question which was will
2152s you do a rework or yeah that's it and
2156s the answer is yes we are reworking it

2166s the name I just can't there have been
2168s many awesome ideas that seem to just
2171s fall through the cracks the hatch closed
2175s mechanic D s rework wiping away the hack
2178s traps while crouching over them etc will
2181s we ever pull the trigger on any of these
2183s or are there any new mechanic ideas that
2185s we can expect yes so new mechanics goes
2190s without saying if we decide to find
2191s something cool we want to put it in the
2192s game we will try it and I believe
2194s whether you'll see it or not that's also
2195s part of the question and the answer leo
2198s as for like the hatch closed mechanic I
2200s think this is a great example of some of
2201s them we did prototype we even show it
2203s and we played it with you guys you guys
2205s got to see it and then it never ended up
2207s in the game no right we removed it as we
2209s knew and we saw that there was a lot
2211s more to the endgame than just the
2214s hospitals yeah and it didn't answer all
2216s the questions so we wanted to have a
2217s more holistic and more full approach if
2220s you will to looking at the endgame
2222s because it's very tempting sometimes to
2224s have some knee-jerk reactions and just
2226s do a quick fix on something but then it
2229s in that case we felt it would have made
2232s the end game different not better
2234s necessarily yeah exactly there were
2236s there were some easy wins that we got
2238s from it but it caused other problems as
2240s well yep so we wanted to look at the
2241s endgame so right now we are prototyping
2243s an end game as well I can't go into the
2245s details at the moment yeah does that
2247s mean that the hash those things never
2249s coming back we don't know yet because
2250s the design is not to finish exactly Mike
2252s darling we might find out at the end
2253s that the actual hatch closing does not
2255s fit with what we go for as an endgame
2257s proposal right ideally we want to look
2260s for something fun then we can all play
2261s together and we all enjoy and it would
2263s keep in in mind the spirit of dead by
2266s daylight because if we lose that and
2267s we've got problems I can go but that's
2269s the part of the Rd researching and
2271s developing our products and our ideas so
2275s the best example might be des right the
2278s sizes right yes I subtract it's been how
2280s long have you been
2281s talking about the yes Freddy and in-game
2284s a while and these things take time and
2289s maybe maybe we communicate too early
2292s about it maybe but we also want to share
2294s it with you guys so we can cons to this
2298s but I always will want to push on the
2301s side of transparency I think it's served
2302s us well so far and we'll keep doing it
2305s obviously but also it shows how long the
2308s process can be on our side so what
2311s happened with the S I know we talked
2313s about it once but let's just revisit it
2316s like like quickly so when you design
2320s something you have objectives to
2322s actually get from the change right yeah
2325s so what happened with the S so like D S
2328s on its own was so we know that when you
2330s use the size it's like we feel great as
2332s a survivor it gives you a very visible
2333s feedback you know that you've done an
2335s impact in the game and you know when
2337s this perk works whereas it doesn't work
2339s the things on the killer side though is
2341s that for people can use it and it's
2343s gonna use as a chase extender there
2344s isn't much of a downside or drawback
2346s these are things we'd like to address
2348s with the perk itself and so that we make
2350s it more fun for everyone and it's going
2352s directly against the the really limited
2355s time you have to get control over to
2358s Matt buzz killer yeah exactly so so when
2361s it goes off it makes a really big
2362s difference as well when we had tried as
2365s they change with that one that nobody
2368s saw it was looking really good on paper
2370s yeah yeah but an actual game played well
2374s so the change was that so instead of
2376s dropping the survivor when they used the
2378s slicer strike what would happen is it
2382s would stun the killer in place and then
2384s someone else would have an opportunity
2385s to blind the killer you'd be able to
2386s wiggle journey many times as well it
2388s seems to have made start with friends
2390s groups stronger obviously it might be
2392s less useful as a solo situation and
2396s still usable by multiple people
2398s I wish didn't respond to that question I
2401s didn't make the mechanic better no and
2403s the feeling of playing it was also very
2405s I don't know how to say it it wasn't as
2408s as satisfying I wasn't satisfied for
2411s either
2411s so at some point we scratch the idea yep
2414s and now back to the drawing board right
2417s exactly yeah
2418s was there anything you wanted to add on
2420s the yes question about Freddy is well
2423s let's talk about Freddy me are we give
2425s it aside for the moment I think we're
2426s good with explaining in the whole
2428s process and and decisive strike I mean
2431s crap mechanics but I think yeah there's
2436s other decisive strike ideas that will be
2437s coming and we want to try them out with
2439s the community as well soon
2440s yeah not soon soon but you know in our
2442s careful soonish I apologize I need to
2445s find another way for my okay everybody
2447s the other thing is for Freddy we wanted
2450s to identify sort of some of the issues
2452s that people have said in the community
2453s so the things that we've garnered from
2455s reddit again have you not been following
2457s some people are screaming like Oh
2458s survivors Opie who would have thought
2460s and I'm like did you not see that most
2463s survivors actually died is the earlier
2466s answer
2467s stats yeah cool thank you so Freddy
2471s we've heard some feedback from the
2472s community
2473s things like he's two weeks take two week
2475s it takes too long to be able to hit
2477s somebody his power doesn't help him in a
2479s chase
2479s he's got no mobility or map pressure
2482s like other killers such as the hillbilly
2484s the hag in terms of what they're
2486s teleporting you can't see him as a
2488s survivor and you can't really do
2489s anything about that which is you know
2494s yeah you can hear him and you can see
2496s the the environment movement right it's
2498s not as easy as other killers any of us
2500s pretty much and on the sorry I'm sorry
2505s sort of side as well you have the or
2507s vision on sleeping survivors and it
2508s feels inescapable the rng skill checks
2511s so you can you're not guaranteed to get
2513s out you have to try to get an orange e
2514s to do it I which is problematic for the
2515s killers as well to a certain extent and
2517s the dream world brain vision hurts oh
2521s yeah so all these are the things I was
2524s awesome but not playing it actively and
2527s trying to yeah so what we're trying to
2530s do is we're trying to address these
2531s things with what we're going to be
2533s trying in the prototype yeah we'd love
2535s to hear your feedback more I mean like I
2537s check it out online to see oh my gosh
2542s yeah so ultimately we're trying to make
2544s sure that we go in line with what the
2546s community has been giving us is feedback
2547s so we can all have a Friday that we love
2550s in a door to die to and you guilt with
2552s so are we are we testing do we have a
2555s prototype right now we am will be
2557s prototyping this when we continue to
2559s prototyping this okay as the months go
2561s on I don't think we'll see it before the

2579s entire killer power an entire mechanic
2582s there's not something that we just want
2584s to do really quickly change the thing is
2586s that if you change something about the
2588s power than all of the add-ons need to be
2591s looked at all the perks that may have an
2594s impact on it need to be looked at all
2595s the survivor perks that may work with or
2598s against that it's it's a it's a big game
2601s is getting intensely connected from
2606s everywhere you don't say like every new
2613s perk that we create needs to be like
2615s even for QA its it needs to be tested
2617s against every other perk and in
2619s combination with all the other person
2621s powers it's just batshit crazy that's
2624s the proper correct okay we are we
2629s getting pop vinyl killer survivors I
2632s mean I saw the yeah yeah there was a
2635s really cool little petition that was
2640s signed by 2500 people more than that I
2644s will tell you that was specifically for
2647s Funko and I will let you know that Funko
2651s is aware of that and the petition so
2655s that's all I'm gonna say about that for

2729s for specific cases because they need to
2731s stay general and cover a larger base
2733s honestly however you could report that
2737s in game under this category all we hear
2741s from you is only sent to the support
2743s service actually our first rule is used
2747s in game report user and game report
2750s that's what I do use the in game report
2752s that's the first rule after that you can
2755s provide additional information to the
2757s support service so you can send images
2760s and videos for that kind of thing is
2764s there a way to link them up to link them
2766s up like your in-game report and support
2769s in the Senate I'll give you something
