Well I guess it didn't work for op.
It's possible he didn't realize it. I have a video somewhere of an aquarq tumbling down a hole indefinitely, because it goes past the lowest point on the map and respawn back at the top for the hole, only to roll down again. That should still work.
So this failsafe should bring it back right where it dropped, or straight to Molly/deposit? I dug a hole with c4 and there was nothing.
It should pop at the origin, I think. If that's been mined, it would fall down. Did you check the scanner for it?
If it's legit gone, that's bad.
I didn't check the scanner. It was just a pearl, nothing mission mandatory, so I "checked" terrain with c4 and moved on.
Found a video of it in effect. The light from the pearl as it zooms by makes it look like it's several clips, but it's one long clip of the pearl going past me, and returning to the top of the slope, only to roll back down again. https://twitter.com/JoinDeepRock/status/1157030946765529100?s=20
