So i've been playing for about 2 years here and there and am currently 220, obviously not that high of a level but I know what i'm talking about when it comes to this game. Usually it's the same thing, I join and a greenbeard asks me loads of questions about this or that. I'm always happy to help so thats not the issue. The issue is the greenbeards that ask me about what I run for my builds and then proceed to question me about it and why I don't run what they run. The main 3 examples are the Engi turret, the breach cutter, and armor breaking. I always say that I run the MK2 turret with stun and defender system as it's (in my opinion as well as many other Engi mains opinions) the best turret setup. As soon as I say this they always hit me with "oh, why? 2 turrets are better" to which I explain that defender system is just superior to hawkeye as defender system gives the 100% dmg bonus and better stats. As for the MK2 it doesn't chew through ammo as much and is easier to manage on higher hazards (4 and 5). "But I run gemini and I never have a problem!" okay well if it works for you then use it, I just told you what I run personally. As for armor breaking since armor shares a seperate health pool from actual hp it doesn't really net you a faster kill time, lot's of the vets know this, it's just a bad upgrade in general. As for Engi's secondary, I run the PGL because I enjoy the swarm clear potential. Once you get your dmg to 130 and get incendiary compound you're pretty much set as this'll clear swarms very quickly. But then I get told the breach cutter is better in every way, I disagree. I'm not saying the breach cutter is bad, far from it. What I try to get across to them is the BC is more for single target dmg, can it clears groups? Yes, if you aim correctly and kite them good enough. But if swamr clear is what you want, just use the PGL, all you have to do is shoot in the general area of a group, fire and you're done. That's all. I enjoy it. And then they try saying it can barely damage a praetorian, why yes it can't, because it's not made for single target dmg. On top of that when I do decide to run the BC I always get asked "why don't you run triple split line!?" Because I enjoy plasma trail for the extra dot damage. "But triple line increases your damage!" No, it doesn't. All triple split line does is increase the height of your beams hit box. There's no increase in damage. There are multiple other things that some green beards try to argue with me about and it does indeed irritate me. Well, that's the end of my rant. Any vets have any stories similar? Rant away.
