What would you like to see, purely hypothetical since in 90% sure they’re not adding upgrades for em.

My ideas are:

-sticky flares, so they stick to walls and objects. Not as strong as scouts though.

-ping flare, automatically and frequently pings nearby items, even through dirt. Could be batteries, core events, salvage mules and their legs, seasonal stuff like the skulls, seasonal things like the rockpox guns or core stones or whatever

-much longer/perma flare, just doesn’t burn out, or takes much longer. Or maybe something needs to happen to keep it burning, like spilling bug blood resets the timer, or you can pick it back up again to refill a charge

-heal-y flares, it just heals or regenerates shields over time, aoe same size as the light source it’s giving out, effect is as potent as current light level from flare, but is still minimal healing at full brightness.

-smoke flares, so the idea for these is that drop pods and resupplies arrive faster or more accurately. They don’t have to produce smoke, cuz gases and cages don’t mix. Would (lore wise) just be a thing for radar or scanners to pick up on. I don’t think these will be very effective considering this would only apply when extracting really, unless it made pods drop faster.

All really cool ideas but I don't believe they'll ever be added. I think the reason why the devs didn't like the upgradable flares, is that new players were stumbling around in the dark with poor qualiry flares before they had gotten the chance to upgrade it. I'm personally glad to see the change but I think ideas like these are awesome to experiment with.
