New patch that posted to day is causing a disc write error on my copy of the game. I tried restarting the Pc, tried logging in and out of steam, tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling, tried verifying the files. None of it worked. Any suggestions?

This is the issue. I wont tell you what to do, as this isnt "PC advice" but in general, nowadays, all you need is windows defender. If you have an anti virus, then you need to go in and make sure the game files are not blocked or quarantined. If they are, you need to release/unblock them. It is NOT enough to close down the anti virus, as it will still keep the files blocked
