How about new gameplay loops and proper content ? Don’t wanna bitch but damn waiting until summer for a content patch is kinda insane.
Seasonal events like this are comparatively small tasks, so we try to pepper them inbetween new seasons, rather than leave you with nothing at all. That said, we're confident our upcoming content will be worth the wait.
And as others point out, if the base game doesn't do it for you any longer and the only thing keeping you around is new content, other games are available - I've heard a rumor about some kind of new diving game in Hell? It's supposedly great fun. You can always come back when the new season does drop, if you still feel like it at that point. DRG isn't meant to be a chore to play.

We are indeed focused on Rogue Core - and on DRG. We can be (and are) doing both. When and if DRG actually goes into this "maintenance mode" I hear bandied around, you will hear it from us, on official channels, not from rumors - and there are no plans to do so at this point.
Our Seasons so far have been paired on purpose - 1 & 2 were connected, and 3 & 4 were connected. And they have never been intended as major game overhauls - if that's what you hope for, then you will likely keep being disappointed.
I still can't wrap my head around the fact that you guys are managing to develop a new game AND keep maintaining DRG with such a small team (and doing a great job at that). Props to you guys.
