[2021] Update on mod support?

Any news with mod support rolling out? I know they're working on new weapons and stuff right now but I was super excited when they first announced the mod support update and super let down when they postponed it. I'm really hoping that its not just shelved while they work on the next update. New guns are great and all but with mod support the modding community could be building the guns they want to see in games. Feel like I'll be playing Dying Light 2 before DRG gets mod support and DL2 still has no release date.
