TLDR: I hope you like graphs.

This is an analysis of “This Week At Bungie” (TWAB) weekly developer updates by Bungie about Destiny that are posted to reddit by a bot. All info for this was pulled using pushshift.io in conjunction with PRAW. Data was modeled in Python and Excel.

Upvote ratio is the ratio of upvotes to downvotes on a post.

This graph shows rhe upvote ratio of TWAB posts theought all the weeks of Destiny 2

Here’s another one with the weekly change in subscribers along with it

Here are 2 tables that show the most well received and most controversial

These graphs show the relation of comments on TWAB posts to the Upvote ratio.

I originally compared the number of comments on a TWAB post to the upvote ratio, but due to fluctuations in activity on the subreddit, there were no obvious conclusions. I then looked at the percent change in the number of comments. For example, if there were 100 comments on TWAB one week, but then 200 the next week, there will be a 100% increase in comments. This leads to an interesting graph in which you can see the spikes in some of the more controversial TWABs.

I thought this would be interesting to see how the community view of the weekly updates changed over D2’s lifecycle. If you have any questions about the info let me know.
