I don't know where else to post anymore. Long story short, I tried signing into Destiny Item Manager last weekend and inadvertently un-linked my Battlenet (Refl3xes) from my Bungie profile, which is almost 10 years old. Bungie tried helping for a while but stopped replying. Now I'm lost.

EDIT - Well, I am an idiot and basically the whole thing was my fault. Nothing to see here, move along... lol thank you all for the help, I am so happy to have this all sorted out!

Here's what I saw when I tried logging into Destiny on PC - my Planet of Peace emblem is "equipped" but is actually replaced by the warlock default

My battlenet had its own Bungie profile created automatically. All attempts to re-link them properly result in a strange placeholder account appearing as you can see here, the Battlenet shown linked is unnamed and seems to be a placeholder After a week talking back and forth with support "BNGHelp6" on Bungie.net's DM feature, and trying a couple hours' worth of fixes, no luck. Eventually they recommended I make a forum post in the "Help" section on Bungie.net. I told them I had tried this, and then they just stopped responding altogether. I even asked why this isn't a database entry somewhere that can be edited manually - no reply.

Here's what's even weirder - logging in through the Battlenet credentials takes me to my Bungie profile "Refl3xes", even though they aren't actually linked properly.

Now, I wouldn't mind this THAT much except that 1) this will very likely cause future problems if I can't link my accounts and 2) I've purchased 10+ Heart Emblem pins for myself/friends/stream giveaways, and it's my favorite emblem (only one I ever equip since the D1 version came out) - now I can't ever use it again. And I'm very unlikely to ever buy something from the Bungie store again after this.

Before you rightfully call me an idiot for causing this problem through DIM, I'll at least say that at EVERY prompt along the way, I double and triple checked that there was clear option stating something along the lines of "this action can be undone at any time in your account settings" - I had a feeling something weird might happen, and it sure did... Bungie has even said that Blizzard wouldn't be able to help since the problem isn't their end.

Worst case, I would like Bungie to at least apologize for being unable to help and offer a new code for Planet of Peace. I would be okay with starting a new Bungie profile then (although I'll lose my 10 year old account) but I would very much prefer to get mine back.

If anyone can help, maybe even u/cozmo23 or u/Deej_BNG could point me in the right direction... please, I'm desperate here!

Sincerely,

A decade-long supporter of Bungie games who feels very slighted and disappointed now :(

UPDATE - After another Help forum post on Bungie.net, I basically get people suggesting the same 3 or 4 solutions (which I've already tried many times) and then they stop replying. So, yeah, this is kind of frustrating. I submitted a customer service ticket with the Bungie Store as well, with my order number etc. so maybe they can at least offer a new code or refund? Not that I really want a refund, I just want my emblem :/

So, if that imgur picture is the current state of your account, it appears that you have all 3 account types linked to your bungie.net profile. Assuming that the blizzard account linked to it is the wrong one, what appears to have happened that you managed to unlink your "real" blizzard account. This likely happened when signing back in with blizzard, you probably signed into the wrong blizzard account and you were asked if it was your first bungie.net profile, you said no, and signed in with an Xbox or Psn account. That caused the wrong blizzard account to be linked to your profile.

You can't unlink it because you can't unlink something you are signing in with. But you should be able to repair it by signing into bungie.net with the same account you sign into the game with (be sure it is the right one). One of two things will happen. If your correct blizzard account is not attached to a bungie.net profile, it will toss you into account creation. If it does that, select the option that says it is not your first bungie.net profile, and sign in with your Xbox Live or PSN account on the "real" bungie.net profile. That should force it to link the blizzard account, and everything will be on the right profile. If it sends you to some dummy profile, or if the account recovery doesn't work, you'll need to do it manually. You do this by signing out, then signing in manually to the target bungie.net profile with XBL or PSN. Then on the settings page you should be able to unlink the blizzard account that is wrong and relink the correct one (the one that you play on). You'll need to know the credentials of the incorrect blizzard account to unlink it though.

Hopefully that helps.

Hi, thank you for your response - I really appreciate it and I'm sorry that I've come off as so frustrated with this. I'm hoping there is a solution still.

As far as I can tell, I've tried all of the steps you listed already, but to be sure I just ran through it all again. I successfully unlinked the "placeholder" account, and then signed out. I should mention that unlinking this account even required me to "sign in" using the credentials for the correct battlenet. I signed back in using my Battlenet login, and it prompted me as you described - I chose "no, I have another profile" and logged in with my Xbox GT. It gave another prompt to link the two profiles, and it did indeed show my correct "Refl3xes" bungie profile with the right emblem and GT associated with it. After I linked them, it took me back to the home page of Bungie. Sure enough, though, it all ended up exactly the same... there is an account shown linked, presumably the one I Just linked, but it appears without a name and looks like a placeholder. It even has "show on public profile" checked, but when you view my profile here https://www.bungie.net/en/Profile/254/965833/Refl3xes you only see my Xbox GT linked.

That's a link to the current status of my "accounts and linking" page after running through the steps you listed, as best as I could.

If I log out and log in using my Xbox GT, it takes me to that profile. If I do it with my Blizzard credentials, it takes me to that profile as well - but it still shows the dummy profile linked. And I still can't access the emblem, just checked :(

Hopefully that description helped!

I'll look into it more when I get in the office Monday, but I'm curious - what blizzard account are you intending to link to (name#number)? You can direct message me if you don't want to say publicly. If you can still sign into the game on PC and everything is correct, then you aren't signing into bungie.net with that same account. Do you actually sign into the game on PC, or is the Blizzard launcher already signed in when you boot it up? I suspect you have two accounts with very similar logins and identical passwords, or something like that. Because if you can sign in via Xbox, and successfully unlink the unnamed Blizzard account from your settings page, hitting the "link" button from there and using the correct blizzard account should do the trick.

Anyway, if you give me the "correct" blizzard account name, I can check to see where it has been, and I can confirm a few details. I can't fix the the linking state itself (security policies), but I can at least verify some details for you.

*Edit*

Okay, looked into it. Your account used to have a different Blizzard account linked to it. The Blizzard account linked to the bungie.net profile you linked is definitely NOT the same Blizzard account you use to play the game. It has a different id, and no display name (this means it has never been used to play any Blizzard game, it was probably just created in their web UI on battle.net). This means I was correct - you are linking the wrong blizzard account to your bungie.net profile. If you want to relink your Blizzard account back to your bungie.net profile to regain access to the special emblems you have on it, you need to link the one you sign into the game with.

Well, I am an idiot and I've got it all sorted out now. Thank you so much for your help, and especially for your patience considering the issue turned out to be me being an idiot. I'm just glad it's all fixed now!

Don't worry about it - accounts are sometimes super tricky, especially in a multi account world. I'm glad everything is working now!
