1231s we've been saying this whole time that
1232s hell is coming now hell is
1236s here something that's always present in
1238s a Diablo title and we wanted to make
1240s sure that for Diablo I returning to hell
1242s was a special moment we referenced the
1244s endgame cinematic with prava and narius
1247s taking the fight to hell at the end of
1249s the game we really wanted to capture
1251s that experience that sensation of
1253s battling throngs of demons
1256s inell in the infernal fors they're going
1258s to go into to this mode battle waves of
1261s demons and be able to kind of change the
1263s shape of the game experience as you play
1266s it those of you who have joined us since
1267s base game and throughout the seasons
1269s will have noticed that we have this
1271s phenomenon in the world that's going on
1273s called hell Tides some of you might have
1274s noticed that hell Tides have been
1276s getting a lot worse lately and now hell
1279s is able to pierce the veil that's
1281s holding hell back from fully invading
1284s sanctuary and starting to take root in
1286s sanctuary and we started by asking
1288s ourselves some questions what is the
1291s state of sanctuary right before the
1293s vessel of hatred happened how has hell
1295s changed now that misto isn't there
1297s anymore what are the demons up to where
1299s is Mesto does he have anything to do
1301s with this or is this just hell rising of
1304s its own accord as the prophecy
1306s proclaimed and so we thought to
1307s ourselves how can we make things even
1310s worse for the people in sanctuary in
1312s this season you'll very much get to dive
1314s into those Mysteries with some unlikely
1316s allies and really get to the bottom of
1319s what's
1320s happening so in this season we play a
1323s lot with the notion of the enemy of my
1325s enemy is my friend how far would you go
1328s to save Sanctuary to save your world
1330s what price would you pay would you
1332s sacrifice your soul for this you're
1334s going to meet a guy named lochran who at
1336s first seems sort of usual but you're
1338s going to quickly realize that something
1340s is off that something is a little
1342s strange with this guy so lochran and
1344s Estelle are your allies and they're
1347s going to help you return to hell both of
1349s them are experts and demons and they're
1351s going to use that knowledge to help you
1353s return to hell and become more powerful
1355s to be able to battle The Infernal
1358s hordes The Infernal hordes is a new
1361s endgame activity in Diablo I it's
1363s primarily a wave based activity you're
1365s going to be fighting wave after wave of
1367s demon forces in hell so if any of you
1369s have ever played wave based gameplay
1371s before you'll know that things escalate
1373s we've got meteor strikes and all sorts
1376s of things that try to keep you on your
1378s toes when one thing the infernal hordes
1379s does differently is the notion of
1382s infernal offers and between each wave
1384s you'll make a choice you'll be granted
1386s an infernal offer and by choosing one of
1388s three of these offers you're going to
1390s change the game mode in some way a
1392s positive and a negative you can imagine
1395s from the depths of Hell these hands rise
1397s out and offer you both a boon and a bane
1400s a kiss and a curse and this is a
1403s Temptation that the fellow council is
1405s making to you and in this temptation
1407s you're offered more power power but that
1410s power comes at a cost and so you get to
1414s choose you know which Temptations you're
1415s going to pursue during your infernal run
1418s and then customize your experience from
1420s there one of the guiding principles of
1422s this game mode is replay it's an in-game
1425s mode that we want to make sure you're
1427s playing over and over again so we really
1429s wanted to create a broad set of enemies
1432s for you to fight during this mode we've
1434s got many demons to choose from in the
1436s Lexicon of Diablo's monster families but
1439s we're also going to see some other foes
1440s you might not expect there are going to
1441s be certain types of enemies like goatmen
1443s who have been banished to hell that have
1445s now rallied to Mesto and fight by his
1447s side and even some unlucky Souls that
1451s marched on Hell from the Cathedral of
1453s Light have now been revived in hell and
1456s fight against you alongside the demons
1459s basically everything that hell has to
1461s throw at you we're throwing it at you
1463s this season The Infernal hordes has been
1465s built with multiplayer in mind but
1467s multiplayer is not required we want to
1469s make sure that solo players still have a
1472s very fun experience in the infernal
1474s hordes now that said if you roll in with
1476s a party you're going to have a lot of
1478s fun this game mode is going to appear in
1480s the Eternal and in seasonal realm and
1483s that means that once the season is over
1485s it's here to stay The Infernal hordes is
1487s unlocked at World tier 3 so really what
1490s you need to do to access it is earn your
1493s way up to World tier 3 and then complete
1495s an eternal quest line that takes you
1497s back to hell and then locks The Infernal
1501s hordes for World Tier 1 and two players
1504s we've built out a seasonal progression
1506s that'll help them become more powerful
1508s in order to be able to confront the
1509s infernal hordes first is you can earn
1511s reputation and that reputation applies
1514s to a reputation track that earns lots of
1517s really cool rewards that'll make you
1518s more powerful as you progress onto World
1520s tier 3 the other thing we've built are
1522s micro dungeons called hell breaches that
1525s offer a glimpse at the infernal hordes
1527s mechanics and they give you a chance to
1529s learn the mechanics before you confront
1531s the infernal hordes at World tier
1535s 3 the final boss in this season is the
1538s Fel Council and the Fel council is some
1541s familiar faces that you might recognize
1543s from Diablo I these were Priests of the
1546s zacharo room holy men who were corrupted
1549s and basically became vessels of hatred
1551s in their own right the council members
1553s in Diablo I tried to help contain Mesto
1558s in in his soul Stone and of course Mesto
1561s being Mesto slowly but surely corrupted
1564s them and eventually they had soulstones
1567s pierced into their hands and became
1569s super powerful but eventually you
1572s overcame them and sent them to Hell
1574s through the course of the story resummon
1576s them they've been reborn slightly new
1579s powers but the same animosity toward you
1582s what's interesting about this boss
1583s encounter is there five council members
1585s but you're only going to fight three of
1587s them at once this allowed s us to then
1590s create many different flavors of the
1593s boss fight for the fellow Council in
1595s fact it's about 10 variations in all and
1598s so every time you go into that Council
1601s fight there's a very good chance you're
1602s going to have a different fight than the
1604s last time you played it we think it's
1606s going to offer a lot of Replay for
1608s players what we also introduced during
1611s these waves are opportunities for you to
1613s earn ether earning ether is the resource
1616s that you gather during the infernal
1618s horde that you can then spend at the end
1621s of the activity there's going to be a
1622s fixed number of waves that you have to
1624s defeat and once you've completed all
1625s those waves then you'll face the Fel
1627s Council defeat them and collect your
1631s treasure so upon defeating the Fel
1633s Council The Spoils of Hell will spawn
1636s and then you consume your burning ether
1638s and opening those chests now the trick
1641s is when you are playing through these
1644s waves that's your opportunity to earn as
1646s much ether as you can different events
1649s are going to spawn all throughout the
1650s waves around the periphery of the arena
1653s and it's your job to try and defeat as
1655s many of those events as possible to try
1657s and gather up all the ether you can
1659s really skilled players are going to be
1661s able to really maximize that ether so
1664s they get the biggest payout possible at
1666s the end after defeating the F
1669s Council so with this Burning ether
1671s you'll be able to get new uniques you'll
1673s be able to get new legendaries you'll be
1674s able to get rare materials things you
1677s might have scoured the whole of
1678s sanctuary for in previous Seasons or in
1680s in the base game but now we offer it to
1682s you here down in the depths of Hell a
1684s lot of these new uniques and
1686s legendaries really build on top of this
1689s idea that they've been forged in hell
1692s and so they're going to have unique
1694s looks that you can then make into
1695s Cosmetics to apply wherever you like
1698s they can also have unique V effects and
1701s sound effects to really create the sense
1703s that they were forged in health one
1705s particular one that I enjoy using a lot
1708s are boots boots you say well these boots
1712s uh not only have been forged in Hell
1714s whenever you use a power with a cool
1716s down they shoot out a ring of fire that
1719s hits everyone around you that's just one
1721s sample of the the types of powers we're
1725s exploring so death in The Infernal
1727s hordes is uh quite a big deal you're
1731s returning to the realm of hatd where
1733s Mesto was born like this has to be a big
1735s deal in the infernal hordes it's it's a
1737s lot like nightmare d
1739s you only get a fixed number of revives
1741s in order to be able to get to the end of
1742s your run so at lower difficulties of the
1744s infernal hordes you'll get a number of
1746s revives shared between your party but at
1749s higher difficulty levels the game is
1751s going to start taking away those revives
1753s and that increases the stakes that you
1755s have if you die too much you'll be
1757s ejected from the mode in the infernal
1758s hordes we created a lot of new ways for
1760s Monsters to Ambush the players and so
1762s I'm pretty stoked to see how our players
1763s respond to these the seasonal quest line
1766s and the Eternal Quest line they have
1767s lots of little surprises and twists and
1769s turns in them and there's even some
1771s surprises we've buried deep within the
1774s infernal hordes that hopefully players
1775s will have a great time

1821s there's a ton going on in yeah Adam

1828s now we've had a ton of live streams
1830s there's been so much going on so it's
1831s just a lot easier to share the load
1833s amongst all the we we just finished the
1836s spirit born uh live stream so it's been
1838s a little crazy and you know Marcus is
1840s here to help out so you guys may see
1842s Marcus Moore here uh hosting some live
1844s streams in the future um but yeah I'm

1847s disappearing today take over exactly

1853s yeah I'm pretty excited about that some
1854s big big shoes to fill there so yeah that
1857s is absolutely true uh in terms of
1860s everything that's been going on in
1861s Diablo we just had our season The
1863s Infernal hordes PTR and we've got a lot
1865s of learnings yeah we and but we we also
1867s do have one additional person but of
1869s course we do Mr Dan dangu from Albany
1871s New York Dan welcome to the stream hey

1877s good to see you see Dan Dan's in like
1879s the Cathedral of light we're in like the
1881s burning house so yeah it's perfect it's
1883s uh it's hot over here exactly it tracks
1885s yeah yeah thanks for joining us today

1889s uh and the season five PTR we've got a
1891s lot of learnings um this was our second
1893s PTR for Diablo 4 so we have a ton of
1896s feedback to get into but we also have uh
1898s some notes from the community on the PTR
1900s overall and some learning So Adam do you
1902s want to walk us through that yeah most
1903s definitely you know this is now our
1904s second PTR that we had we had one for
1906s season 4 and of course one now for
1908s season five and um you know we've
1911s learned a lot from these ptrs ptrs are
1913s incredibly important uh they're huge
1915s they're really beneficial for the whole
1917s entire team here
1918s and I one thing we heard a lot of
1921s feedback at least from the season 5 PTR
1923s is is uh is obviously as as you're
1926s playing through a PTR it's a non-final
1930s uh thing that you're playing it's still
1931s very early on there are going to be more
1933s bugs more issues uh just pres in the PTR
1935s because we are getting something out
1936s there a little bit earlier just so we
1938s can get feedback in on it but one thing
1940s that I think we uh most definitely heard
1942s from the community is hey the tools
1944s within PTR uh at times haven't been the
1948s the best or the most efficient for for
1951s players that need to actually test uh
1953s the content that we actually do have and
1955s so uh one thing that we did want to at
1958s least address and highlight and and
1961s acknowledge is that you know we do plan
1963s on making the PTR experiences better uh
1966s in the future we do plan on uh equipping
1969s more tools uh for players out there so
1972s they're not having to sit there and
1974s grind out you know maybe like all the
1976s the the new legendaries or
1979s especially like season for example we
1982s gave a a character copy feature uh in in
1985s this one and then of course we had the
1987s Boost feature which came back from
1988s season 4 uh and when you boosted your
1990s character a new character you would end
1991s up getting some of the new uh
1993s legendaries or uniques uh within uh
1995s season 5 what happened though is that it
1999s wasn't all of them and then we had
2000s players within season 5 having to
2002s actually go out and spend their time
2004s that they they probably could be testing
2006s other things like trying to those items
2008s and obviously that's like not the most
2011s efficient thing to do so uh we do want
2013s to we hear everyone we acknowledge it we
2016s we we do want to make the PTR experience
2018s better so I will say that like in future
2020s ptrs and you'll see this gradually over
2022s over the next couple ptrs it won't be
2024s all of a sudden like things will be
2026s completely different but uh do I I do
2028s expect like and and players should
2030s expect like that we will have uh better
2033s tools for them uh to to properly test uh
2037s as we gradually go through ptrs in the
2039s future and we appreciate everyone like
2041s letting us know like we most definitely
2043s hear you guys and we most definitely
2044s want to make that experience better from
2046s that but ptrs have been great um huge
2050s thanks to everyone for jumping in and
2052s and checking it out for sure so yeah
2054s definitely yeah that feedback is so
2055s important so you know yeah um increasing
2058s uh you know how great these ptrs are is
2060s really really important and I know for
2061s the season 5 PTR one of the huge
2063s features that we had in there was the
2065s infernal hordes itself um so for
2067s everyone who didn't get a chance to jump
2068s into the PTR uh Mr Dan tangu can you
2071s kind of walk us through what the
2072s infernal hordes is and what players can
2074s expect yeah absolutely I'll give you all
2076s a quick recap so um The Infernal hordes
2081s is a wave-based activity uh with Pusher
2084s loock choices in between each of those
2085s waves so imagine waves of monsters
2088s coming in uh lots and lots of monsters
2090s in fact and you also have uh some events
2093s many events that you uh can also
2096s participate in now in between uh those
2099s waves uh you're going to be uh making
2101s What's called the uh infernal offer and
2105s you're going to pick a boon or a Bane
2106s and that's going to change your gameplay
2109s for the rest of the run so it allows you
2111s to customize what your infernal run is
2113s going to be like um and so uh we
2117s probably see right here yep we've got a
2120s infernal offer that comes up so you're
2121s going to select one of those and that
2124s will then change of course uh the rest
2126s of the Run
2128s now um when you complete the required
2131s number of waves then you're able to go
2132s confront uh the fell Council who you can
2134s see here and the fell Council as you saw
2137s from the uh video that just came on
2140s right before this live stream our uh
2142s former servants well actually current
2144s Servants of Mesto uh that you defeated
2147s in Diablo I and have now returned and
2150s you must fight them once more and uh
2153s once you beat them uh you're going to be
2155s able to spawn what's called The Spoils
2157s of hell and these are chests uh that
2160s contain a lot of great goodies uh and so
2163s with that burning Aether you've been
2165s collecting all through the course of the
2167s uh mode you're able to choose what kind
2169s of spoils you want you've got uh Spoils
2173s of legendaries and uniques uh and
2175s there's some absolutely uh great new
2178s uniques and legendaries in uh season
2181s five and you can probably Farm about
2183s half of them uh over half of them from
2185s The Infernal hordes uh you're also able
2187s to to spawn uh Spoils of materials and
2191s buy into that and that will get you gem
2193s shards that will get you Angels breath
2196s and of course that'll get you master
2197s working materials which you absolutely
2200s need to complete your items Journey uh
2202s you can also uh cash out and get a bunch
2205s of gold which you know uh for those
2207s folks who are rrolling their items in
2209s order to Masterwork them or to enchant
2211s their items is going to be hugely
2214s beneficial and then finally uh there's a
2216s special bonus chest higher tiers where
2218s you can get a guaranteed role on a
2221s greater affex item and so um since
2224s that's one of the the main chases in the
2227s you know the the final steps of the
2229s endgame you know we wanted to make sure
2231s there was an opportunity for players to
2233s really you know um get a little more
2236s lucky with it so um final thoughts on
2240s the infernal hordes remember that it
2242s unlocks at World tier 3 uh you need an
2244s infernal compass in order to unlock it
2247s and there there's eight levels of
2249s difficulty for
2250s it and so yeah that's a quick recap
2253s awesome uh thanks for walking us through
2255s Dan uh super excited to jump in and try
2257s to grab some of those uniques now I know
2259s uh considering the infernal hordes was
2261s such a big part of PTR uh we did have a
2263s lot of community feedback with regards
2265s to you know getting into the mode you
2266s know some of the pacing so can you walk
2268s us through some of those learnings we
2269s had uh based off the PTR feedback oh
2272s absolutely so uh there was a lot of
2274s feedback that came in and so much so
2277s that we weren't able to address it all
2279s uh but we did distill down some big
2282s trends and feedback that we were able to
2284s tackle and so the first off is that uh
2288s we wanted to improve access to the
2290s infernal hordes so um yeah it was just
2294s too hard to get into the mode regularly
2297s to test it and folks who wanted to get
2299s into it very quickly couldn't get into
2301s it either so we've pretty much
2303s overhauled access to the infernal hordes
2305s at this point compasses still exist but
2308s the drop rates on those have been
2309s boosted quite a bit you we want you to
2311s earn around four or five compasses an
2313s hour so that you can do about four or
2315s five hour uh runs per hour um so you
2318s know you've got you know 50% chance to
2320s get them from item chest and Hell Tides
2322s unless it's one of those item chests
2324s that cost you know 250 sinders in which
2326s case that's a 100% chance I mean you put
2328s in the time we'll just give it to you
2331s and then you know nightmare dungeons
2333s Whispers there's about a 75% chance to
2335s getting get one from a dungeon complete
2337s there
2338s you know Compass tiers at really high
2341s levels um we wanted to make sure drop
2344s naturally from high tiered activities
2346s like nightmare dungeons in the pit uh
2348s and we've also given you a path to just
2350s crafting these outright with the
2352s occultist with sigil power and forgotten
2353s souls and then finally you know uh it
2357s was a bug that the first compass that
2359s dropped from the Eternal Quest it was
2361s actually a world tier three and if you
2363s were playing World tier four sorry World
2365s tier 4 uh yeah had to switch back to
2368s actually get in the infernal hordes and
2370s that didn't feel great so we updated
2372s that as well uh moving along the next
2375s big thing that we focused on was combat
2378s uh the pacing of combat wasn't hitting
2380s our goals and you know we had done a lot
2382s of internal testing on it um and you
2386s know folks who weren't as in-game
2388s focused gave us a lot of feedback where
2391s you know oh this is super intense could
2393s we dial it back a little bit so we did
2395s but then we put it out on PTR and clear
2398s all said hey no we want more so we're
2401s giving you more um the first thing that
2403s we did though is we fixed some bugs uh
2406s that that actually had a really big
2408s impact on the experience there was a
2410s boss a boss Health bug man that is hard
2413s to say boss Health bug that caused all
2415s the bosses to be super tanky and at tier
2418s eight there were some folks who were
2420s spending almost an hour's worth of time
2422s in The infernals Horde and that just
2425s that's not what we wanted so uh we fixed
2428s those bugs and retuned everything so you
2430s know it's a much tighter experience at
2432s this point uh similarly there was a bug
2435s where difficulty wasn't scaling
2436s appropriate in multiplayer so we fixed
2438s that uh and then some tuning things so
2441s uh the pace of mini events are pretty
2444s much uh rapid fire at high tiers now you
2448s know and so you're going to be spinning
2449s a lot of plates in this mode uh the
2452s monster spawn rates have also been
2453s increased to you know really capture
2456s that feeling of being overwhelmed and
2458s then finally we reduce the wave timer
2459s down to 60 seconds um which you know
2462s just creates a much punchier experience
2465s for players and of course retuned
2467s everything and then on top of that we
2470s said you know what let's just make it
2472s easier for players to pick up burning
2473s ather to increase that pace so the pets
2476s now pick up the burning Aether as
2478s well and that's not all uh now of course
2482s you know we're all playing this for the
2484s rewards right and so it was really
2487s important for us to improve rewards
2489s across the board you spend time with the
2491s mode you want to be rewarded
2492s appropriately and we weren't hitting
2494s that Mark in the PTR so uh we raised the
2497s minimum amount of burning Aether earned
2499s from any single run first off every
2502s single source of Aether got boosted by
2504s one ather and then we added Aether drops
2506s to the Fel Council so that um you're
2509s also getting uh you know a lot of bang
2512s for your buck just by defeating the boss
2514s as well and that actually scales per
2515s tier as well next next up we retuned all
2518s the costs of The Spoils of hell so you
2521s know the greater equipment that one with
2523s the greater ax in it used to cost 250
2526s Now it only cost 60 similarly we retuned
2529s The Spoils of equipment and The Spoils
2531s of materials so now they only cost 28 or
2533s a piece and then finally we retuned all
2536s the rewards that were inside you know
2539s the the chest as well so you know at
2541s your bare minimum level when you first
2543s start playing The Infernal hordes and
2545s you're not sure exactly how it works we
2547s still want you to feel rewarded just for
2549s the time that you invested and so the
2551s rewards at that bare minimum feel pretty
2554s good now but you know if you are
2557s spending a lot of time with it you know
2558s how to optimize this mode we wanted to
2561s make sure that you know the rewards
2563s reflected that too so that that higher
2566s you know um sealing of rewards has been
2569s raised as well so you're playing at tier
2571s eight you are going to get significantly
2574s more rewards than you would at tier one
2578s awesome awesome yeah that's quite a bit
2581s that's a lot of stuff I just want Dan
2584s your shirt is amazing I was interrupt
2587s but I didn't want to while he was
2589s talking now I just want that shirt and
2591s I'm very jealous that I don't actually
2593s own that shirt so I will message you
2596s after the stream to let me know where I
2598s can get this shirt yeah I think someone
2600s on the team made it so I was like yeah I
2603s I needed a new shirt for the live stream
2605s so that is her art 100% yes now we know
2608s okay now I know and it is totally
2611s awesome I had to wa it is Aaron I
2613s totally know we will be touching base
2616s after the stream yes um yeah Dan that's
2619s a ton of changes uh it sounds like we're
2621s really cranking up the intensity for the
2622s infernal hordes um really really cool to
2625s see uh super excited to jump into it uh
2627s so I know for the infernal hordes that's
2629s one part of the season that's coming but
2631s there was a lot that players didn't get
2632s to experience in the PTR uh that will be
2635s coming with the season so can you kind
2636s of share what's going to be new for
2637s players uh coming into season 5 yeah
2640s absolutely so the PTR was really focused
2643s on features that were on both the
2645s Eternal realm and the seasonal realm and
2648s we have a number of seasonal exclusive
2650s features that yall haven't had a chance
2652s to play with yet so we're going to tell
2654s you about them now uh first up we've got
2656s the seasonal progression so you're going
2658s to see uh what we call the reputation
2660s system uh in some footage here in just a
2663s second and the reputation system is
2666s something that we had in season 4 and
2669s actually earlier in some events and we'
2671s brought it back here because it serves
2672s as a great backbone for the season and
2675s we've evolved it in some significant
2677s ways uh so first off how you earn
2679s reputation is a bit different now it was
2682s really important for us in season five
2683s to give you more of a play uh give you
2686s more choice in how you wanted to earn
2688s your
2688s reputation so previously in season four
2691s you earn reputation through just playing
2693s hell Tides as you should cuz we made a
2695s lot of improvements to Hell tides in
2696s season 4 but here we wanted to broaden
2699s it out a bit more so you earn reputation
2701s in season five by just defeating
2704s powerful Servants of Hell uh Elites
2707s hellborne Champions bosses so on and so
2710s forth right and so that gives you a lot
2713s more choice to say Hey you know I can
2715s earn reputation in Hell Tides or I want
2717s to earn it in the infernal hordes or
2719s honestly I want to take a break and do a
2720s stronghold you'll get reputation there
2723s too um another small tweak that we made
2726s that's pretty important is that when you
2728s pick up reputation um you actually get a
2731s small boost in XP as well so as you're
2735s continually filling out your reputation
2737s track uh you're starting to level up
2739s just a little more quickly than you did
2742s before now um another thing that you
2745s might have seen are these big green
2747s tiles in the reputation system and those
2750s are seasonal quests so we made it very
2753s clear that hitting certain tiers of your
2756s reputation system now unlock the
2758s seasonal quests and it actually starts
2760s to weave The Narrative through the
2762s progression a bit more which uh we
2764s really like the feel of and we hope to
2766s build on in the future and then finally
2769s you know again it's all about the
2770s rewards right so there's lots of great
2773s returning rewards in the uh reputation
2775s system you're going to be able to earn
2777s you uniques specifically class-based
2779s uniques they're going to help you uh
2782s figure out what you want your build to
2784s be early on in the season you're also
2786s going to be able to get get other
2787s powerful equipment big drops of crafting
2790s materials and of course at the very end
2792s of the reputation track will be a
2794s resplendant spark that you can use to
2797s ultimately craft a Mythic
2800s unique um next up we've got the seasonal
2803s quest line you know I was teasing it up
2805s a little bit with the uh reputation
2807s system there uh so the season of The
2810s Infernal hordes has a rather unique
2812s narrative flow uh because we have an
2815s eternal quest line that
2817s introduces you know a big new feature
2820s that takes you back to hell right and so
2822s we wanted to make sure that was
2824s available to everybody not just seasonal
2826s players and that also starts at World
2828s tier
2829s 3 now those of you who played the PTR
2832s have already seen it that's the one that
2833s features lcan helping you to to get back
2836s to hell and confront the infernal hordes
2839s but we've developed an additional
2841s secondary well not really secondary an
2844s additional seasonal quest line named of
2847s lambs and wolves uh which we're kind of
2849s teasing right here and new NPC name
2852s Estelle is guiding you to become more
2855s powerful before you join lran to uh
2858s Journey Back To Hell now this one's
2860s going to be a little closer in tone to
2862s the iron wolves um uh quest in season 4
2866s but it's going to be a bit more
2867s expansive than that and like I said it
2869s weaves in and out of the seasonal
2871s progression so how do they relate to one
2873s another well the seasonal quest line is
2876s exclusive to se season five and so you
2879s are able to uh get a really more
2883s complete picture of the story by playing
2886s both uh the seasonal quest line and the
2889s Eternal Quest line you can kind of think
2891s of the seasonal quest line as almost
2892s like a prequel to you Unlocking The
2894s Infernal hordes and uh but we also
2898s wanted to make sure that our Eternal
2899s players don't get left out this is an
2901s eternal mode that we're introducing
2902s after all with the infernal hordes and
2905s so you know the infernal or rather the
2906s atal quest line here which is uh named
2910s eyes of the enemy um is going to be
2913s available for all players and won't go
2915s away after the season ends so it's going
2917s to be there forever so if you decide
2920s sometime down the road that you want to
2922s check out the infernal hordes and say I
2924s don't know season six you can do that
2926s right and so uh yeah that's where we
2930s ended up with the uh quest lines this
2932s season and then the final thing I want
2935s to introduce are the hellbach dungeons
2937s which we've gotten a few teases of
2939s before but we can go into more detail
2941s here so these are all new micro dungeons
2944s uh to show that hell has started taking
2946s root in
2948s sanctuary now since the infernal hordes
2950s is an endgame activity World tier 3 plus
2953s we wanted to make sure we had some
2954s content that targeted our world tier one
2956s and two players and so you go into these
2959s it's going to be a great source of
2961s reputation it's going to be a great
2963s place to get some powerful items and um
2967s it's a pretty cool place to just kind of
2970s experience what the gaml is going to be
2972s like down the road now originally we had
2975s kind of patterned these off the uh
2976s danheim tunnels you know uh if you all
2979s remember those uh but you know with the
2982s introduction of Hell tide and in season
2984s 4 we had to change change up change it
2987s up a little bit because I don't think
2989s that alone would have sufficed and so
2992s what we did is we pulled in a lot of
2993s elements from The Infernal hordes and
2995s we're using this as an opport
2997s to introduce those elements so you see
2999s right here we've got a simple infernal
3001s choice that shows you know that
3003s basically says okay do I want my boss to
3005s be a little simpler or a little more
3007s difficult and you get to choose
3008s hopefully the person playing chose the
3010s more difficult one I didn't see but um
3013s you're going to be rewarded a lot more
3015s for taking that risk of making the boss
3017s more difficult and you're going to be
3019s earning burning Aether and at the end
3020s they're going to be some spoils that you
3022s can spend on and like I said you'll get
3024s some really powerful gear that should
3026s help you on your journey toward uh
3028s encountering the uh infernal hordes so
3032s uh if you want more details on these I
3034s recommend that you you check out our
3035s blog that came out two days ago and uh
3038s yeah thank you Dan that's awesome I I
3042s gotta say uh chat got pretty excited
3044s when you mentioned domain tunnels they
3045s kind of blew up there so definitely
3048s definitely a fan favorite everyone
3049s remembers the dopamine tunnels yeah
3052s right right the uh and it it's it's
3054s great that there's now like
3055s opportunities for players within like
3057s tier one and two to actually be able to
3059s have other options of leveling up and uh
3062s with the with these uh new help breaches
3064s it's yeah it's a good way the new
3067s content exactly yeah then you get into
3070s those infernal hordes in World Tour 3
3071s and enough away you go yeah that's
3073s awesome uh Dan thanks so much for
3075s joining us uh as Dan had mentioned we
3076s did publish the season the infernal
3078s hordes blog a little bit earlier this
3079s week we are going to have patch notes
3081s that will publish following the Stream
3083s So for any details we reveal across the
3084s stream you can check those out for more
3086s information Dan's going to join us
3088s towards the end of the stream for our
3089s Q&A so if you have any questions please
3091s drop those in twitch chat and we'll be
3092s pulling them uh to get into those
3094s towards the end of the stream so we just
3096s touched on a ton of stuff that's coming
3098s in season The Infernal hordes itself but
3101s based off the PTR we also have a ton of
3103s changes coming across sanctuary and to
3105s walk us through from the other end of
3107s the stream Mr Adam I get to pretend like
3110s I'm I'm I'm the person on the panel uh
3113s uh I'm going to you designed and did all
3115s this EXA
3118s we have a a fantastic uh design team
3120s here and I am uh going to bring in my my
3123s inner Colin finer uh to to talk about
3126s some stuff but yes as Marcus mentioned
3127s there's a lot of changes a lot of the
3129s stuff that we actually did talk about in
3130s the blog and some of the stuff that
3132s people heard from PTR but there have
3133s been changes even since PTR and we have
3136s a few new things in here that will also
3138s uh squeak in here as we're we're talking
3140s about it but um one big topic I know
3142s that everyone brought up after PTR and
3145s that we even brought up even during our
3146s PTR stream was hell ties specifically um
3149s one big topic within hell Tides was
3152s banful Hearts uh if you guys remember
3155s back during the PTR stream we talked
3156s about how uh season 4 everyone had a
3159s plethora of banful Hearts I mean it felt
3162s like everyone was always carrying about
3163s 100 to 150 at any given time and you
3166s could deposit as many to your heart's
3168s desire and still always have that same
3170s amount U we wanted painful Hearts to
3172s feel a little bit more special uh and so
3174s during the PTR we actually did take the
3176s number
3177s down in terms of how many you would be
3179s able to earn uh we did hear everyone's
3181s feedback people were like that that
3183s feels kind of crappy so we most
3186s definitely uh readjusted the drop rate
3188s of binful Hearts to really kind of close
3191s that Gap in between season 4 and season
3193s 5 PTR we wanted to make sure that was
3196s you know it feels better like you won't
3199s have 150 on you at all times most likely
3202s but you still have plenty now to to be
3205s able to uh summon the maiden as well so
3208s some of the changes that we have coming
3210s up for baneful hearts and and the uh
3212s rates that will help with this is we're
3215s uh bumping up the drop rates off of
3217s Chess within uh hell tight specifically
3220s um players will also be able to get a
3221s guaranteed heart drop off of Hell TI
3223s commanders now um and then one big thing
3226s is uh within World bosses Yeah we
3228s actually have an image of like where
3229s you'll be able to now get your your hard
3232s drop rates guaranteed uh is World bosses
3234s sometimes World bosses actually do spawn
3236s Within a hell tide zone and we thought
3238s it would be kind of cool that you know
3240s hey you killed the world boss there and
3242s a hell tide happened to be present in
3243s that specific Zone where the world boss
3244s is now you'll just get a guaranteed
3246s three within that that world boss kill
3248s which is kind of nice so um we're also
3251s bumping up the drop chance uh to like
3253s local events uh Mastery chest within
3255s hell tide and of course harbingers
3257s within it as well and then one big
3258s change that we're doing within this as
3260s well is uh the blood Maiden within World
3262s Tier 1 and two uh in season 4 and even
3265s season 5 PTR you would have to deposit
3267s uh three hearts uh just like World tier
3270s 3 and World tier 4 We're actually
3271s tweaking that down to just two so for
3275s World tier one and two so uh there'll be
3277s one less like alter pedestal for you to
3280s deposit a heart for for uh to summon the
3282s blood Maiden within World tier one and
3284s two which should help out with you know
3285s just makes your farming a little bit
3287s quicker in the early levels exactly
3288s exactly and it doesn't feel like you're
3290s needing to put in that many for those
3293s earlier levels that much easier to chain
3294s a ton of blood means back to back to
3296s back exactly yeah so uh next thing we
3298s did want to talk about is uh uh within
3300s hell Tides as tortured gifts uh the
3302s another change for World Tier 1 and two
3304s uh there will be less sinders required
3306s to open up uh the torture gift chest
3309s within uh World Tier 1 and two so it's
3311s dropping from 100 to 75
3313s specifically um and then uh this is
3316s something we talked about in the last
3317s stream where it was like really
3318s difficult for players to actually kind
3320s of go through a hell tide and complete
3324s uh you know a a full-on like you know
3327s Treo Whispers like progression line
3329s within a hell tide uh so now you'll
3331s actually be able to earn all 10 Grim
3333s favors within a hell tide for sure uh
3336s when it's in one Sub Zone um and
3338s actually deposit that within the tree of
3340s Whispers and get the the the whisper
3342s cash out of it uh I know sometimes it
3344s would take like PE sometimes two hell
3346s ties to actually do it or you would have
3348s to leave the hell tide and go to a
3349s non-el tide zone to kind of finish it
3350s off and stuff and so we wanted to make
3352s sure that was more efficient uh
3354s specifically within hell tides and and
3356s then this was a big thing big one uh so
3360s you know we talked about during the
3361s season 5 PTR stream that we were uh that
3364s profane mind cages were a season four
3365s mechanic it was it
3367s was and so it was uh it was removed from
3372s from season 5 heard the feedback and
3375s people were like wow we really miss mine
3377s cages bring them back what's going on uh
3380s so we did bring them back and we brought
3381s them back like in like a cooler form so
3384s now you can actually stack up so one
3387s profane M cages are coming back for
3388s season 5 you can actually stack these
3390s now up to 3x in season 5 this is season
3394s only so this is only on the uh the
3396s seasonal R specifically but now stacking
3398s up to 3x does actually boost up uh
3401s monster pretty significant yeah so
3404s you'll end up uh you could knock monster
3407s levels up you know 30 levels if you
3410s wanted to uh and you will benefit or
3413s maybe suffer suffer quite a lot uh but
3417s uh it does give players the option now
3419s to use uh that and so profane M cages
3421s are back and in a kind of a cooler form
3423s for season 5 which really cool and we
3425s really appreciate the feedback we heard
3427s from players regarding hell tides on on
3429s that um next overall just general game
3432s updates that we do have uh one big thing
3434s that we're doing is uh we are boosting
3437s uh legendary drop rates off of really
3439s pretty much almost like all most content
3441s like hell Tides nightmare dungeons
3443s infernal hordes uh for any Monster uh
3445s that is 100 or higher so you'll be able
3448s to see and just obtain more legendaries
3450s that way uh less rares things like that
3453s uh separately enchanting one big thing
3455s we heard is you know people were somwhat
3459s you know blocked a little bit with
3460s angel's breath um and so we did remove
3463s Angel's breath as a cost towards uh
3466s enchanting it's no longer required uh
3468s we've actually now kind of just swapped
3470s this over to the respective legendary
3472s Salvage so for instance armor it would
3474s be coiling Wards weapons baleful
3475s fragments and then obstru Sig sigils
3478s that tongue twister there OB sigils
3481s abstruse sigils uh but uh you now have
3484s the ability of being able to do
3486s enchanting just note that of course go
3488s cost are still associated with
3489s enchanting uh but now it's a little bit
3492s a removing a little bit of that friction
3494s with with the Angel's breath requirement
3496s and then this is something that we had
3497s talked about beforehand which is just
3499s crowd control uh overall within season 5
3501s is going to be a lot better I know uh
3503s crowd control can be sometimes painful
3505s either knock down
3507s knock down and Frozen for a million
3509s years cry and then dying horribly and so
3513s CC duration has been essentially just
3515s pretty much reduced like across the
3517s board to like 1.5 seconds Max and then
3520s uh one cool feature is you can also spam
3523s potions now while you're CCD uh really
3525s good for like like you know people in
3527s hardcore or like maybe it's like it
3529s creates more desperate moments of like
3532s I'm still dying don't matter what but
3535s you now have the ability of able to
3537s potion specifically um if you are CC
3540s which is really nice we were talking
3542s about like
3544s charging when they St you and they do
3546s the poison AOE as a keyboard Slammer
3548s myself thank you yes exactly um next
3552s update we have is World bosses so uh
3556s funny enough uh this actually fell into
3558s season 5 PTR but that we forgot to
3561s actually put it in season 5 PTR notes
3563s nor and we actually forgot to actually
3566s mention it we got a lot of reports of
3567s people going like hey why are World
3569s bosses like tankier and harder to kill
3571s fight back now what going on uh so they
3574s actually had a feature called resilience
3575s on there essentially resilience uh
3577s normalizes damage across like all World
3579s content so it's like if you shared World
3582s content so like if a bunch of people are
3583s all coming into a world boss you're you
3586s should expect to find that the world
3588s bosses will be a little bit more tankier
3590s a little bit longer in terms of the
3592s experience that you're having as you're
3594s you're fighting against them um uh and
3597s less you know like hey I blinked and
3600s it's gone oh oh sweet the boss was here
3602s for 3 seconds nice yeah EXA three man
3605s mine they barely even spawn in it was
3607s actually present in PTR and we actually
3609s got a lot of people that were going like
3610s hey I think this is a bug and uh it
3612s actually wasn't a bug it was just
3613s something we for we forgot to actually
3615s mention uh in the in the patch note so
3618s that is our bad but we do want to make
3620s sure that everyone's aware that world
3621s losses now have a feature called
3623s resilience and that will end up helping
3625s out with those encounters specific
3627s separately for bosses um Pit Boss damage
3630s has been reduced pretty much across the
3632s board um and then uh one big thing that
3635s we did want to call out is uh we we got
3637s a lot of feedback within you know um
3640s season 4 and and of course the PTR for
3643s season 5 uh we we well we saw some
3645s people uh address the changes that we
3648s were having there um but Pit Bosses had
3651s uh this tendency within season 4 to have
3654s like very sharp damage
3657s uh where it would scale up really hard
3659s and there there were times where you
3660s would run into a specific pick boss and
3663s you um could potentially just get one
3665s shot based off of like those they're the
3669s shadow boss like like that
3671s would one shot you and laugh as they
3674s left and you died yeah so now uh there
3676s is a feature within season five where
3678s those Shadow Pit Boss like aexes will
3681s appear and they will actually leave kind
3683s of a stacking debuff onto uh players uh
3686s now so uh and it can go up to three
3688s times and then obviously when it gets to
3690s the max you have a very good chance of
3692s getting like heavily like like punished
3695s punished for for taking up to three
3698s debuffs uh from that end this is really
3700s to um allow a little bit more
3703s flexibility for players you know based
3705s off of the feedback we heard regarding a
3707s lot of the one shots and things like
3709s that uh you now have the ability of
3710s being able to you know take a couple of
3712s these debuffs and maybe not like
3714s completely get punished from that it's
3716s less about like the Perfection kind of
3718s involved but more so um uh being a
3722s little bit more forgiving in some of
3723s those uh opportunities now if you are a
3725s person that just like like face tanks
3728s things and goes in and immediately takes
3730s 3 debuffs uh you're probably still going
3732s to uh learn that you know that damage is
3735s still going to be very sharp with the 3D
3737s so um but it it is something to to help
3740s out uh in regards to that to be clear
3742s how that debuff works is every time that
3743s you get hit with one of those Shadow
3745s boss mechanics you'll take the debuff
3747s and it increases all of your damage
3748s taken so the regular boss is going to
3750s hit you harder and the shadow bosses are
3751s going to hit you harder too ex so you
3753s know you just don't want that to ramp up
3755s too much because then everything is
3756s going to be more punishing exactly
3757s there's a few people already asking
3758s about those uh debuffs in chat so yeah
3761s it just increases all your damage taken
3762s so basically you know you get some
3764s freebies of getting hit by them you
3765s really don't want to but then after that
3767s you got to watch out because then it's
3768s about as hard as season 4 was exactly so
3772s um and then another big thing so this
3773s was something that was actually not
3775s present in in the PTR but it's something
3777s that we've heard a lot of feedback about
3779s and actually a ton of feedback about uh
3782s and this is group play in uh in pits uh
3785s in season 4 the way that it worked was
3787s uh if you were in the pit and you were
3790s the party leader uh you had three
3792s friends that joined along you would
3794s essentially get through the pit you
3795s would get all the masterworking
3797s materials uh for yourself 100% of them
3800s and then everyone else around uh that
3802s joined you would only get about like 50%
3805s and uh it felt pretty punishing uh for
3808s for people to really kind of join up
3809s with friends and run through pits and we
3812s heard a lot of feedback of like hey it'd
3813s be great if like if I'm just joining my
3815s friend we can all just get you know uh
3817s 100% of the pit material rewards and so
3820s that is being tweaked for season 5 now
3822s the whole entire party itself will end
3824s up receiving uh 100% of the uh the the
3827s materials that you end up receiving at
3828s the end of the pit um so we appreciate
3831s the feedback thank you guys for for
3832s letting us know and and this is
3834s something that wasn't in PTR but will be
3835s for season
3837s 5 uh next up we have endgame bosses um
3841s so this is something of course we talked
3843s about during the PTR and we do want to
3844s highlight again because I think this is
3846s amazing and will save a whole lot of
3847s time uh you can now resummon endgame
3850s bosses uh immediately after you end up
3853s killing them so as you're going through
3854s the different boss ladders and stuff you
3856s can uh just resem the alter will
3858s reappear as you can see in the footage
3860s and uh throw in the the the mats and Bam
3864s again you're fighting daral which is
3866s nice no more exiting the dungeon
3868s resetting the dungeon running back and
3870s then having to do it over again this
3872s should save up a whole lot of time this
3874s should help a whole lot with farming as
3876s well specifically for gear and you'll be
3878s hearing a lot about all this new
3880s gear from from Adam here in a second um
3883s but there were some additional changes
3885s as well to some of the endgame bosses
3886s that we do have um like for instance the
3889s first one we going talk about is the
3890s Beast and Ice the Beast and Ice of
3891s course had required a Sigil to actually
3894s summon uh you would to actually create
3897s the dungeon to to go in to fight the
3899s Beast and nice there's no longer a Sigil
3901s that will be required um and also the
3903s Beast and nice is now way close to the
3904s dungeon it's going to be a short Dungeon
3906s Crawl similar to the other endgame
3908s bosses so you're not having to you know
3910s go through a lengthy dungeon D just to
3913s get to the likewise no more sigil dust
3915s will be required for summoning the Beast
3917s and ice and then of course we thought
3918s about internal players in this situation
3919s because some of them have actually
3920s crafted a bunch of uh sigils and now
3923s since sigils are no longer uh required
3925s uh you can still use those leftover
3927s sigils to immediately resummon the Beast
3930s and nice without needing the the mats
3932s that were that are still required for
3933s the Beast and ni so it's kind of a a
3935s nice benefit to them and then of course
3937s Von also got some updates um Von
3939s required a bunch of different body parts
3941s and now uh Varon just requires malignant
3943s hearts and of course we thought about
3945s eternal players in this specific
3946s instance Eternal players can convert
3948s their old part uh their old body parts
3951s uh two hearts yeah uh by going to The
3953s Alchemist that's a magical Alchemist I
3957s uh but uh if you ever need a spare heart
3959s you just go to an alchemist that's just
3960s how it works swap it out yeah that's
3962s just how it works um but yeah some
3964s changes coming to that uh and then
3966s separately endgame bosses uh for for
3969s endgame bosses the boss ladder uh bosses
3972s um they won't be dropping rare items
3974s anymore they're actually just going to
3975s drop additional gold and of course you
3977s you'll have your opportunity of getting
3978s legendaries and uh uniques and Mythic
3981s uniques from from them so uh but now we
3984s just remove the rare item drop uh drops
3986s from them so it it takes up like less of
3989s the uh the drop chances that you could
3992s get in terms of uh their their specific
3995s tables and then on tormented bosses
3997s tormented bosses now drop five time as
4000s five times as many boss mats as before
4002s and of course uh all tormented bosses
4004s have a better chance of dropping a
4006s Mythic unique um so we are boosting up
4009s the the Mythic unique drop there there's
4010s actually specifics on all this stuff in
4012s the patch notes that people can read
4014s afterwards and we've also reduce the uh
4017s the stigi and stone cost for uh the
4020s tormented bosses before it was two and
4023s now it's dropping to one so it should
4025s help out with players wanting to
4027s experiment or try out uh some of the
4030s more difficult uh and game bosses that
4032s are available which are their tormented
4034s versions and then uh one big thing that
4036s is happening and this is uh this is
4038s something that was kind of mentioned in
4039s the blog but uh and people will see more
4042s specifics in the patch notes uh
4043s experience is changing um uh in terms of
4046s like the XP bonus from killing higher
4048s level monsters it's no longer capped in
4051s um I believe it's now well it's it's
4054s used to be 10 level more it's still
4057s capped shall I say it's capped to 30
4059s levels that's actually in correct on the
4060s slide but um it used to be 10 levels
4063s it's now 30 levels and that's across all
4066s World tiers so uh if you have for
4070s example if you are a level 5050
4072s character and you kill a level 80
4075s monster
4076s in season 4 you would only get uh level
4082s expence now you'll get up to that level
4084s 80 experience so uh it should help out a
4087s lot if you are willing to go through
4088s more challenging content bam you get
4090s more XP for it so which is really cool
4092s and it's also really nice that because
4094s it it plays really well into the
4096s stacking profane mine
4098s cages available because that can
4101s actually also increase monster level by
4103s 30 levels as well so it's kind of a um
4106s a cool little H add-on you could say
4108s from that so yeah pretty sweet uh yeah I
4111s think that's it for General game updates
4113s yeah
4116s but yeah as I talked about a bunch yeah
4121s it's all on the patch notes you guys
4122s will see the patchet afterwards um but
4124s uh yeah yeah really amazing to have all
4126s those changes uh chat was absolutely
4128s lighting up regards to all the you know
4130s changes of the pit and of course even
4132s though we've shown the the boss
4133s summoning reset again they got just as
4135s excited so so awesome to see and I you
4137s know we really appreciate everyone's
4139s feedback during PTR and hearing
4141s especially about the hell tide stuff and
4143s you know we totally hear you guys and we
4144s want to make sure that you know people
4146s got to experience still still enjoy hell
4149s TI to the the
4152s fullest you know what I mean exactly
4154s exactly no it's really cool to see those
4156s profane mind cages coming back but yeah

4165s regards to uh updates uniques some bugs
4168s fixes a ton of class balance changes uh
4172s who better to walk us through Mr Adam
4173s Jackson yeah let's do it so we got a lot
4175s to talk about today I'll try and go as
4177s quickly as possible um so yeah firstly
4179s you know thank you all for your feedback
4181s and comments you know we got a lot of
4182s class related feedback on the PTR a lot
4185s of balanced feedback a lot of just how
4186s it feels to play Things um and we
4188s actually reacted pretty heavily and did
4191s a lot of changes between PTR and season
4192s 5 launch uh some of which I think some
4195s people know and some things are going to
4196s be new for you today so uh really yeah
4198s we have a lot of things that that
4200s changed uh in many ways honestly it's
4203s going to feel like almost from a balance
4205s perspective and kind of a what your
4206s class can do in your journey it's going
4208s to feel almost like a very different
4209s game compared to what you experien on
4210s the PTR I'm going to go through a lot of
4212s like the systemic reasons why and then
4214s some specific things that we did to
4215s every class as well as of course
4217s updating all of our uniques and kind of
4219s the impact that you can expect from that
4221s so uh lots to talk about so first we're
4224s going be talking about bug fixes um
4226s we've got quite a few to go through um
4228s that I think are pretty notable again
4229s we're going to be doing the class
4230s balance updates after that and then the
4232s unique changes so those will be the
4234s three things I'm going to be covering
4236s today so uh firstly as usual you know
4238s we're going to be publishing the patch
4239s notes right after this so you can read
4241s all of them I'm not going to cover
4242s everything today but just some of the
4244s more notable ones uh so first uh is one
4247s on the Necromancer that we've heard
4248s about for a while now it's a shielding
4250s storm uh this is a legendary that when
4252s your bone storm damages enemies you get
4254s a barrier equal to your Max life uh it
4256s used to be based on your base life
4258s instead of your max life and now we
4260s finally fixed that uh to be clear this
4262s is a pretty huge buff um we may have to
4265s re re-evaluate the power of this a
4266s little later but we're going to see how
4267s it goes but now that barrier is going to
4269s be very significant as you're hitting
4271s enemies with this
4272s aspect uh next we got a couple on the
4274s Barbarian uh the first one is the
4276s Twister glyph this is a paragon node
4277s glyph it wasn't properly giving you a
4279s bonus multiplicative damage when casting
4281s dust lbls so dust double builds will be
4283s a little bit stronger we also an issue
4286s with the tempering earthquake duration
4288s um beforehand there was a bug where it
4290s was actually lowering the DPS of
4291s earthquake CU it was increased the
4292s duration and then your DPS would go down
4294s so we fixed that so it's now actually
4296s just going to make you hit
4298s harder uh next one uh I'm going to call
4301s our one of our content creators Woody
4303s Joe uh here this is why we have PTR uh
4306s he found a neat little oversight that we
4308s had with a passive called trick attacks
4310s and I'm actually going to go over this
4311s in a little bit of detail
4314s because seems
4316s 39 rank offensive passive is pretty good
4320s so uh a little bit of background to this
4322s basically we changed how this passive
4324s trick attacks what it does it went from
4326s something that was more utility based
4327s where it was around CC and we turned it
4329s into damage but we didn't update under
4332s the hood for like tempering and where it
4333s can appear from a utility to a damage
4336s recipe of where it would show up and so
4338s it was appearing on utility which is a
4339s lot more uh common than damage and then
4342s you could get it to silly ranks like
4343s this so to fix this um right now or on
4348s the PTR I should say it was on this
4350s recipe called Alchemist control where it
4352s was with chilling weight and Shadow
4353s crash which are also like CC based uh
4356s passives um for season 5 launch we're
4359s actually going to be disabling this
4361s recipe from dropping you won't be able
4362s to see it for a patch uh while we fix
4365s this bug and what we're going to do is
4368s once we reenable the The Alchemist
4370s control WP to drop trick attacks won't
4372s be on here anymore what we're actually
4373s going to be doing is we're going to be
4374s taking flurry size from another recipe
4377s called Rogue Innovation here um we're
4379s going to be moving flurry size which is
4380s more of a utility based thing and moving
4383s that over to Alchemist control and then
4384s just removing trick attacks from
4386s Alchemist control so the net effect of
4388s this will be that now both recipes will
4391s have or yeah both tempering recipes will
4392s have three different options of what you
4394s can have there and Rogue Innovation will
4395s actually have a little bit of a buff
4397s here too because instead of having four
4398s things to you know roll for your tempers
4400s we're only going to have three so it'll
4402s be a little bit easier to get what you
4403s want
4406s uh next we're going to be talking about
4407s uh some generic class balance updates so
4410s kind of to set you up a high Lev theme
4412s that we're going to see in our feedback
4413s from PTR was barbarians are really
4415s really good and oh every other class is
4417s kind of a little bit weak it feels like
4419s compared to barbarians so uh we did a
4422s lot of things to address this so first I
4424s want to go into detail a little bit of
4425s how we feel about barbarians and where
4427s they're at and what we want to do um we
4429s feel like one of the bigger reasons why
4431s barbarians are so strong is that they
4432s kind of have two class mechanics
4434s compared to other classes right they
4435s have the expertise system which is like
4437s a normal class mechanic where you know
4439s they have this fantasy of leveling up
4440s their weapons and then they get bonuses
4442s but then they also get more item slots
4443s compared to other classes so they get
4445s more access to more legendary
4447s Powers um as far as how we tackle this
4450s we don't want our only solution to be to
4452s Nerf barbarians right like a common
4454s thing that we hear is like hey they have
4456s more item slots maybe you should just
4458s get rid of the item slots so that
4459s everybody has parody right like that is
4461s a way to make parody but you know it
4463s takes away from their theme of being a
4464s master of weapons and it's not very fun
4467s um so that's not the only thing that we
4469s want to do in this situation uh the
4471s other thing is that we want to keep
4472s their class identity right um another
4474s common suggestion we hear is well just
4476s give all the other classes more item
4478s slots so that they're the same as
4479s Barbarian right and similarly kind of
4481s like how necromancers have minions we
4483s don't want to give every class minions
4484s just because you know they don't have
4485s access to the cool thing that
4486s necromancers do we don't want to just
4488s give every class you know more slots so
4491s that they're exactly the same as
4491s Barbarian we want to really try and keep
4494s what makes them feel special as a
4495s special thing and find other ways to
4498s kind of bring parody to the classes so
4501s here's kind of our strategy of what
4503s we're thinking of with barbarians we
4504s have a few different things that we're
4505s going to be doing uh one is we're
4507s actually going to be adjusting how much
4508s damage all the classes get from their
4509s core stat and this is going to bring
4511s other classes up to the level of
4512s Barbarian I'm going to be going over
4513s that in a little bit uh we are going to
4516s be reducing the power of Barbarians as
4518s part of our solution but again I want to
4519s point out it's not the only thing that
4521s we want to do and then we also want to
4523s Target the other class mechanics and
4525s really bring them up to the level of the
4527s Barbarian effectively having too and
4529s making the other classes feel cool in
4531s the way that makes them thematic and
4532s awesome uh we already actually
4534s experimented with this in season 4 this
4536s was an intentional thing that we did and
4537s we wanted to see how it went with the
4539s Necromancer uh if you remember we buffed
4541s minions very heavily and we also buffed
4543s the Book of the Dead their class
4544s mechanic very heavily uh not just
4546s numbers but also in the cool Factor
4548s right you have mechanics like you know
4549s your minions can throw bone Spears or
4551s you know your Golem can do bone spikes
4553s everywhere and make enemies vulnerable
4554s we want to do this kind of treatment to
4556s the other class mechanics uh just to be
4559s clear we're going to be probably doing
4560s this after the vessel of hatred
4561s expansion launches so it'll be a little
4563s bit so we are doing some things in the
4565s meantime to catch them up but you can
4567s expect uh in the future we're going to
4569s be doing kind of a big overhaul to the
4570s other classes similarly to the Book of
4572s the Dead and so their cool factor and
4574s their power level is going to be going
4577s up so let's talk about that course stat
4579s update that I talked about uh previously
4581s so basically what we're doing here is
4583s we're going to be changing the amount of
4584s damage that every class get gets from
4585s their core stat so if you didn't know on
4588s live right now when you log into the
4589s game you get about 1% more damage per 10
4592s stat of your class so as an example you
4595s know the the I don't know pick one the
4598s Sorceress you know with intelligence you
4599s would have 10 int and then you get 1%
4601s more damage if you had 100 in you'd have
4603s 10% more damage and so on so now it's
4606s going to actually depend on the class
4608s what that ratio is of how much damage
4609s you get per your core stat so the
4611s Barbarian is going to be staying exactly
4613s the same uh 1% more damage per 10
4615s strength the Rogue is going to get a
4617s little bit of of a buff here because
4619s they do have a little bit more uh slots
4620s compared to other classes so they're
4621s going to be getting 1% more damage per
4623s nine decks and then the other three
4625s classes the Sorceress Druid and
4627s Necromancer are going to be getting 1%
4628s more damage per eight core stat so you
4631s know without doing a lot of math the
4632s tldr here is barbarians are staying the
4635s same uh Rogues are going to get a bit of
4636s a bump a bit of a buff and the other
4638s three classes are going to get even more
4640s damage so as you get that core stat
4641s which you get very commonly you know in
4643s gear and Paragon and other places you're
4645s just going to be doing more damage it's
4646s just a passive way that we're going to
4648s be catching up the classes uh stat-wise
4652s so next let's move on to kind of our
4654s class updates so I'm going to be going
4656s through all the different classes and
4657s talking about kind of what our updates
4659s are going to be for them um some of the
4661s things you can expect uh that are
4662s different from PTR to
4665s launch so Barbarian um you know
4668s currently Barbarians in addition to
4670s having more item slots I have some of
4671s the best key passives in the game like
4673s in season 4 and on live um one of the
4675s bit the very main ways that we're
4677s targeting bringing them down is reducing
4679s the power level so that really their key
4681s passes are comparable to other classes
4683s uh we on the team felt like you know
4685s they already have all these other things
4686s are really strong going for them they
4688s don't need like overly sted way powerful
4691s key passives that do like you know over
4693s 100% multiplicative damage when the
4695s other classes are doing way less um so
4698s you did see that on the PTR we did see a
4700s lot of feedback on like why are we
4702s bringing down walking Arsenal to have
4703s parody when you know it wasn't even
4705s really meta compared to the other key
4706s passes and I just kind of wanted to
4708s bring some light to this of how we think
4710s about it um the reason why we brought
4712s Rocky and Arsenal to be level with the
4713s other ones when we brought them to be
4714s equal to other classes is that you know
4717s we want all the key passes on Barbarian
4719s to have parity with each other if we
4721s just brought down the other key passes
4722s that were way overperforming and didn't
4724s bring walking Arsenal down to be even
4726s with them then really walking Arsenal is
4727s just going to be the best mandatory pick
4729s and every Barbarian Build is going to
4730s have to interact with this system and we
4732s did we really wanted them to be equal
4734s with each other so that you know there's
4736s actually a choice when you get to your
4737s key passive of which one to take so I
4739s just wanted to clarify that of you know
4741s what our thinking was
4743s there but you know it's not all doom and
4745s gloom for barbarians uh you know we did
4747s hear feedback of like man it really
4749s sucks you know I understand that they're
4750s being brought down and it's fair but you
4752s know we want to have some things to look
4753s forward to so we did introduce a number
4755s of Buffs coming in between PTR and live
4757s so that you have some things to look
4758s forward to and new build paths or your
4761s you know underperforming builds are not
4763s being brought down as well um so I'm
4765s going to give a couple of examples here
4766s one is Hammer the Ancients uh we
4768s increase ex damage Baseline by 10% uh
4771s and we also adjusted the of ancestral
4772s Force legendary uh one of the trouble
4775s troubling things that this build has
4776s problems with is like single Target
4778s damage against bosses and things you
4780s know it does really good in AOE and
4781s brings down enemies but EX single
4782s targets a little bit lacking so we're
4784s upgrading this Legendary Power so now
4786s it's going to be doing more damage
4787s against bosses so it'll kind of help you
4789s with that single Target
4791s issue another one is upheaval uh
4793s upheaval builds can rejoice and also a
4795s little bit of a preview of kind of how
4797s we're changing uniques which I'll be
4798s going over a lot more later uh but we're
4800s increasing upal damage by about 15% and
4802s we also uh rounded out hellhammer now
4804s it's quite a bit more powerful I can
4806s point out a bunch of things here of How
4808s It's better but you can see uh it gives
4810s more skill ranks of upheaval compared to
4812s before uh the damage of its burning on
4814s the ground just Baseline went up it also
4816s has scaling on the burning damage so you
4819s know before the burning damage wasn't
4820s really a meaningful part of the unique
4822s um one of the things you're going to see
4823s with uniques across the board is they're
4825s going to be a lot more about the
4826s Thematic of what the unique is and
4828s that's where their power is going to be
4830s so here the burning ground actually will
4831s scale with your strength at a pretty
4833s significant degree so you know it'll
4835s actually be doing meaningful damage
4836s hopefully um you can also see X inherent
4839s AIX now is damaged to burning enemies um
4841s instead of overpower damage so it's
4843s going with that theme of hellhammer
4844s burning the ground it's also giving you
4846s uh skill ranks of wall up a passive so
4848s that's more multiplicative damage you
4850s also get upheaval size so now you're
4851s burning ground and your upheaval is
4853s going to be bigger so there there's just
4854s all kinds of new things going on it's
4856s going to be a lot cooler a lot more
4857s powerful um and hopefully a lot more fun
4860s yeah Hull Hammer looks absolutely insane
4862s yeah and 300 strength also by the way no
4865s big deal 360 strength yeah no big deal
4867s no big deal um it's going to be pretty
4869s good uh so next the sourceress uh we got
4871s a whole lot of feedback that you know
4873s the Sorceress isn't powerful enough
4874s compared to other classes we got so much
4877s I I'm going to stop us right here we got
4879s so much feedback about the just a little
4881s bit and the Druid and the Druid and
4885s I will just note like we hear you guys
4888s we absolutely do okay now you may
4890s continue so uh for the sorcer
4893s specifically we heard feedback that
4894s they're not powerful enough so we did
4895s quite a few things to address it um
4898s firstly they've got a lot of large Buffs
4899s to their uniques um I would say even
4901s more than other classes your uniques are
4903s going to feel really good uh is the Hope
4905s and I think we've hit it and I'll be
4907s going over some of them a little bit
4908s later um we also buffed all of their
4910s core and Mastery skills by about 15 to
4912s 20% so just Baseline remember this is an
4914s addition to the core stat buff all of
4916s your core Mastery skills are also
4918s getting buffed Baseline by a pretty
4920s significant degree so you're just going
4921s to hit
4923s harder um we also did multiple defensive
4925s Buffs you know we heard a lot of
4926s feedback that they have trouble
4927s surviving in situations that the other
4928s classes can kind of get away with um
4930s these are some examples we did more than
4932s this but ice armor your base shield
4934s amount is going up from 40% to 56% of
4936s your max life uh snow veiled aspect this
4940s one was updated from PTR to launch so on
4942s PTR it was that your ice armor gave you
4945s Unstoppable and gave you armor and on
4947s launch you're still going to get
4948s Unstoppable but you're going to get
4949s damage reduction which you know anyone
4950s who knows how the defenses in this game
4952s work is way more significant than just
4954s getting armor yeah when you hit that
4955s armor cap it's kind of like you just
4957s want to gobble up Dr like Pac-Man as
4960s much as you can get more the better and
4961s this is going to give the Dr is going to
4963s be huge very big um also we did multiple
4966s Buffs to the Paragon board again this is
4969s not covering everything um but one of
4971s the things is that you know we put a lot
4972s of caps to make sure that some Paragon
4974s noes just didn't go of control compared
4975s to everything else but we heard feedback
4977s that you know those caps were a little
4978s bit too punishing so we increase them an
4981s example here is burning Instinct where
4983s you know on PTR it capped at 40% more
4985s multiplicative damage and we increased
4987s that up to 80% so now your burning
4990s damage that's based on your crit strike
4992s uh multiplier is going to be going up
4994s your total amount is going to go up but
4995s then also the rate that you get it it
4997s used to be 1% per 50 int now it's 1% per
5000s 20 in so you going be getting more
5002s efficient Bane for your buck for your
5003s int and a total cap that's much
5007s higher uh so Druid similar to sorceress
5010s surprise surprise got a lot of feedback
5011s that it's not powerful enough compared
5013s to uh the Barbarian or other classes so
5016s we've got a lot of multiple quality of
5018s life and damage Buffs coming in again
5020s these are just some examples um also you
5022s got remember the uniques are going to be
5023s coming in as well uh Boulder damage went
5026s up we increased the damage uh across the
5028s board of their like core skills mostly
5029s and we missed Boulders so we're you know
5031s increasing their damage a bit uh we also
5033s got a lot of feedback that you know we
5034s came out with this really cool unique
5035s for cataclysm that made the lightning
5037s bolts smart and Target enemies and then
5039s a lot of people were like hey why why
5041s does it have to like get a unique to
5043s make my skill be smart and we agreed so
5046s we just made the skill smart Baseline so
5048s now those lightning bolts from the
5049s ultimate will just Target enemies uh
5051s Perfect Storm the storm key passive is
5053s getting ex damage boosted from 30 to 40%
5056s um seismic shift this was an aspect that
5058s we think is really cool where your Earth
5060s Spike kind of goes in a line and does a
5061s bunch of Earth spikes uh used to have a
5063s kiss curse mechanic and it no longer
5065s does so before it used to like give you
5067s this big bonus of you know way more
5069s resource redu uh gen and more damage on
5071s it um but it added a cool down and now
5074s it just doesn't add a cool down so you
5075s can spam it and cast a bunch of Earth
5077s spikes everywhere should be a lot more
5079s fun um also similar to the Sorceress
5081s we're buffing their uh little bonus cap
5083s on their legendary Paragon nodes so an
5086s example here you know they went from 40
5087s to 60% so you've got thunder struck earn
5090s Devastation and survival instincts um
5092s we've got a little visual there at the
5094s bottom note but you can see that that uh
5096s top end of the damage is now 60% so it's
5098s going to be better than PTR um also we
5101s came out with that new unique I mention
5102s for cataclysm uh it used to be on the
5104s gloves on PTR which a lot of people
5106s which we agreed with you know it kind of
5108s felt bad that you know you've got the
5109s two storm related uniques on the same
5112s slot you can't take them together um it
5114s was competing with unsun Aesthetics
5116s wraps uh this was the lightning storm
5117s unique um but now it's going to be on
5119s the rain slot so now you can take them
5120s both together so they're not competing
5122s with each other
5123s anymore um next is the Rogue so uh to be
5127s frank the Rogue is we feel like it's in
5128s a pretty good spot so we didn't do as
5130s many changes compared to other classes
5132s we did still do a few that I'll mention
5133s today but they got the least changes uh
5136s the first one is flurry so as you know
5138s if you played the PTR flurry got some
5140s pretty dramatic updates right both of
5142s their uh their enhancement and both of
5144s their choices that you could pick on the
5146s base skill got changed and and made a
5148s lot better um we saw that you know a lot
5151s of the output of flurry was related to
5153s doing the mechanics that the enhancement
5155s and the advanced flurry were requiring
5157s to do like casting it a bunch of times
5158s in a row and stuff like that and we
5160s wanted to move some of that damage from
5162s those enhancements and things into the
5163s base skill so the enhancement and the
5165s and the advanced for still going to be
5166s pretty potent but we lower their damage
5169s and instead just juice the base skill
5170s even more and what this is going to mean
5172s is really just that you're going to be
5173s more consistently doing that damage and
5175s you're going to be less reliant on doing
5176s the stacking mechanics to get
5178s it uh next wind force uh you know this
5181s one has had a troubled history of just
5183s trying to find ways to make it really
5184s good and useful um instead of knocking
5186s back enemies when it procs it's going to
5188s knock them down now so you no longer
5189s have to worry about like knocking
5190s enemies out of your CC you know or you
5192s want them to be grouped up next to you
5194s and then you're just knocking one of
5195s them or a few of them away now they're
5196s just going to go in place um we have a
5198s before and after here again a little
5199s preview of what we're doing with our
5201s uniques um but yeah windforce uh you can
5204s see some of the things here as a preview
5205s it's going to give you move speed
5206s Baseline which is uh pretty interesting
5208s as a stat on a bow um you've got chance
5211s for double projectiles for your barrage
5213s you've got uh a couple a couple passive
5215s upgrades there and then as you can see
5217s the damage went up but also now it
5218s knocks down enemies instead of knocks
5220s them
5222s back last but not least the Necromancer
5224s uh we've been hearing a lot of feedback
5225s that blood Necromancer players are a
5227s little sad they just aren't really
5229s catching up to the other versions of
5230s necromancer so we've buffed up a bunch
5232s of their tempering recipes and the
5233s damage on them we're also buffing their
5235s legendary Paragon nodes here's some here
5237s that we did a blood bath this one just
5239s makes your overpower damage go up it's
5241s being doubled from 35% to 70% so that's
5244s pretty me uh blood begets blood that
5247s damage bonus when you're picking up
5248s blood orbs is being doubled and the
5250s maximum amount is being doubled so
5251s you're getting more per stack and uh you
5253s need less Stacks to get to your max
5255s damage so pretty good there and then
5258s last but not least here a lucky hit uh
5260s we've heard a lot of feedback from
5261s Necromancer players that you know they
5263s kind of rely a lot on the miasma corpse
5265s explosion to get their lucky hit procs
5267s off and that their other skills don't
5269s really compete and so they can't really
5271s have fun with lucky hit based builds you
5272s know more generally so we just lucky hit
5275s on a bunch of different skills so you
5276s could see there what all the numbers are
5278s um again those will be on the patch
5280s notes but really they're just going to
5280s be lucky hitting more often and getting
5282s cool procs
5284s more all right so next uh let's talk
5286s about uniques a little bit right we've
5288s got super cover super um as we promised
5292s you know in the PTR stream uh you know
5295s we said that you know we had this kind
5296s of different philosophy when it comes to
5297s uniques and we went to detail there and
5299s we updated our uniques coming into
5301s season 5 but we didn't update all of our
5302s existing uniques in the game yet so
5304s we've done that past now um we've
5306s updated nearly every unique in the game
5308s and I'm going to do a little bit of a
5309s recap of kind of how we thought and then
5311s giving you some examples of what we did
5313s so these updates are fairly dramatic um
5315s they're going to be showing you three
5316s from each class as well as three generic
5318s ones to give you a really mey idea of
5320s the different categories and ways that
5322s we thought of updating uniques and kind
5323s of you know what you can expect uh for
5325s your builds yeah and I know um and
5327s Marcus is going to remind us about this
5329s at the end as well but like you'll be
5331s hearing it a lot but I will say uh we
5334s are showing three here in three for
5335s every class and three generic ones but
5337s every single unique is actually uh in
5341s the patch notes uh and we have a before
5344s and after in the pat notes so you guys
5346s will have easy access and you can easily
5348s compare the two compare the difference
5350s so after the stream you'll be able to
5352s compare and so we're just only covering
5353s a small amount here we'll see everything
5356s just a little sample serving the pat
5358s notes are absolutely massive so you'll
5360s have a lot to lot to snack on there yeah
5363s um so yeah um so one of the things is
5366s your general power level of unique
5367s effects is up and by unique effects I
5369s want to be clear that is like the thing
5370s at the bottom that is like you're you
5372s know deals 40 to 60% more multiplicative
5375s damage or whatever that number is going
5377s to be up on the higher end so instead of
5379s 40 to 60 you know it'll be 40 to 80 or
5381s 40 to 90 or 40 to whatever right so that
5384s power level is just going to be
5385s generally up almost across the board and
5388s then really what we targeted for these
5389s updates is the stats on the uniques so
5392s the stats are going to pretty much break
5393s every rule that that uh we had in the
5395s game before when it comes to being a
5396s cool item so some things that you're
5398s going to see and I think I got an
5399s example of most of if not all of these
5401s but you're going to see uniques that
5402s have different inherence compared to
5404s other stats so you know your boot
5406s inherent you know could be something
5408s that's not even related to boots or
5410s movement anymore it could be something
5411s else or sometimes we had more inherent
5413s stats so something that didn't exist
5415s before you know some items can have two
5417s inherence instead of just one which is a
5419s pretty big difference we have uh a lot
5421s more that have stats that break normal
5423s slot rules so you know things like
5424s movement speed on bows or cooldown
5426s reduction on weapons stuff like that um
5428s uniques also can now have tempering
5430s affixes right none of them really did
5431s this at the in season 4 but now that
5433s tempering is in the game and uniques
5435s have to compete with these really great
5436s tempered items uniques can have that too
5439s um they can also have much higher
5440s potential stat values compared to normal
5442s item so you know if a normal item has 20
5443s to 40% more damage a unique can be like
5446s you know 1 to 300% more damage or
5449s whatever right and we even do this with
5451s the tempered affixes so youi can have
5453s Juiced up versions of tempered aices
5455s that make them solve those problems much
5457s quicker um also we've introduced a lot
5459s of stats that really have powerful
5461s effects on them sometimes even a single
5463s stat on a unique can have the impact
5465s that a Legendary Power normally would on
5467s an item as far as what it does to a
5468s build and we'll have a couple examples
5470s of that where like a stat on an item is
5472s actually giving you a new effect that
5475s that didn't exist before that you could
5476s do yeah that's awesome um yeah so again
5479s we're going to be going through you know
5481s three examples uh per class and three
5483s generics and I'm going to just try and
5484s quickly go through and kind of point out
5486s some of the the key things that are kind
5488s of neat about the items so we're going
5489s to shotgun this a little bit and yeah
5491s you're going to see some cool items so
5492s let's get to
5493s it yeah so first penitent Greaves uh
5496s this is a generic unique uh you can see
5498s here this one now has two inherence as
5501s opposed to one um another thing that you
5503s can notice is that normally you know the
5504s inherent the evade grants more move
5506s speed is only for one second and this
5508s one is not only has two inherence bugs
5509s for two seconds so you'll evade and like
5512s you know boost around at crazy Sonic
5513s speed for a couple seconds which is
5515s pretty neat and now you can run through
5516s enemies while you do it um we've also
5520s got some neat stats there of like crit
5521s chance against chilled enemies and chill
5523s potency there that are that are new to
5524s the game here fist of Fate this one a
5526s lot of people saw uh a little bit early
5528s and they were very happy about so one
5531s thing I think that's kind of cool is
5532s that um with our uniques we're really
5534s trying to like double and triple down on
5536s the fantasy of the item so you know

5546s 0.1 to 8.7 and everything on it is like
5549s has a huge range of what you can roll so
5551s like a a greater AIX fix of Fate could
5553s be like a best and Slot item for a lot
5555s of builds the lucky hit chance on this
5558s yes this is the one that people point
5559s out that we it's just crazy I talked
5561s with our one of the people on our team I
5563s want to shout out Alex on our team who
5565s did a lot of this work and uh we had a
5568s choice here like are we going to go
5569s crazy or or go conservative like you
5571s know let's just go crazy like this might
5573s be insane it might actually best and
5574s slot and break stuff but it's really
5576s cool so yeah greater AIC G fist of Fate
5579s there is going to be really cool uh next
5581s the grandfather uh Mythic unique example
5583s here you know a lot of people had issues
5584s with the ignored durability loss uh you
5587s know where you would like Masterwork hit
5588s that or something and then you're not
5589s getting anything we just moveed that
5590s into be a you know a baseline inherent
5593s AIC now so you don't have to worry about
5594s that and then replaced it with something
5595s useful with a Max resource and I I will
5598s note like even in season 4 because that
5601s durability loss was kind of uh was
5603s actually his
5605s uh stat item sometimes when you found a
5608s greater AIX version of a
5610s grandfa it would actually apply to that
5612s that that is now yeah that's all gone
5615s it's just inherence can't be grater
5617s which is something that we thought of a
5618s lot with this so yeah so now let's go
5621s into the classes uh Barbarian this is
5623s Battle trance this one exists already on
5625s live um probably the the two big things
5628s here one is you know you have two
5629s different passives now that you get um a
5631s lot of times we're adding skill ranks to
5633s passives cuz that's a way to add
5634s multiplicative damage or just Buffs to
5636s really cool effects on a on a unique via
5639s their stats the other thing to point out
5641s here is the actual effect before it was
5643s giving you increase attack speed to all
5645s of your other skills when you had frenzy
5647s Stacks now you're going to be getting
5648s damage and attack speed you know we
5650s heard a lot of feedback from players
5651s that it they would hit attack speed cap
5653s and then this unique wasn't really doing
5654s very much for them so now you're also
5656s just going to get damage in addition to
5657s making it easier to hit that cap for
5659s your other skills so it's just you know
5661s more stats stronger um next of the
5664s ravenous uh couple things here one is
5666s it's giving you skill ranks of Ren which
5668s is pretty significant and remember that
5670s two to three might not seem so
5671s significant but when you greater AIC
5673s that and then Masterwork it like your
5675s potential of more damage on this goes up
5678s very significantly um we're also giving
5680s you skill ranks and brawling skills
5681s still um thing to point out here is your
5684s Rens duration this will also just
5685s increase the throughput damage of it has
5687s been doubled so that's just more damage
5688s on Ren in addition to the skill ranks
5691s and then also at the bottom small little
5693s detail but before you could only uh
5696s apply that special effect of your
5697s brawling skills applying your Ren bleed
5699s every 4 seconds and now it's every
5701s second so now if you're able to spam
5703s brawling skills you're just going to be
5704s applying Ren bleeds to enemies and you
5707s know stronger Ren bleeds like crazy so
5709s it's a pretty big power
5710s boost next the fields of crimson uh the
5714s thing I really want to call out here I
5715s mean there's a lot of things that are
5716s kind of unique and different but is that
5719s uh one kind of rule that we had with
5721s item stats that we're now changing and
5722s breaking is we never really buff to
5724s things like enhancements or um like the
5727s ab like the different Choice upgrades
5729s that you could do for a skill um this
5730s one actually Buffs enhanced ruptures
5733s explosion size so you know normally when
5735s you rupture an enemy it does that
5736s explosion this will make that explosion
5738s be way bigger so it's kind of a neat way
5740s that we can manipulate uh player power
5742s via
5744s stats uh next let's move on to the
5746s Sorceress so the staff of endless rage
5748s we actually have a combo here that we're
5749s going to show a little video of before
5751s and after with this uh Fireball builds
5753s um the staff now does some and the
5755s gloves would be doing some unique things
5757s to Fireballs one is but plus Fireball
5759s projectile speed so this is actually
5761s going to make your Fireballs fly through
5763s the air faster or bounce quicker and so
5766s you'll be able to get through them and
5767s they'll you know finish their path
5768s faster you've got the tempering recipe
5770s now so it doesn't compete with your
5771s chance to cast twice and you can see
5773s there it goes up to 75% just on that one
5776s stat so it basically almost solves it
5778s for you by itself which is pretty huge
5780s you've got some massive skill ranks to
5782s Fireball so now again way more
5784s multiplicative damage than before um and
5786s then you know can see at the bottom that
5788s the the upper end of that damage is
5789s going up per the same as most of our
5792s uniques and next this combos with the
5794s gloves of the Illuminator a couple
5796s things to to kind of gloat on here is
5798s the Fireball Fireball attack speed is
5800s going up by a much bigger amount than
5801s other classes or than normal attack
5804s speed sorry on other slots also you get
5806s Mana when Fireball explodes uh I played
5809s with this build and I think it was
5810s season one and I constantly ran into
5812s Mana issues cuz you always want to spam
5814s this as much as you can so when you
5816s think of this stat you know you can
5818s grater this you can temp or Masterwork
5821s this and you kind of combine you combine
5823s you combine this with the attack speed
5825s here and then you combine it with the
5826s projectile speed yeah and you get a lot
5828s more Fireballs remember every time that
5829s it explodes which when you when it
5831s bounces it's exploding yeah and when
5833s you're splitting and getting more from
5835s multiple projectiles you're getting more
5836s bounce explosions so it's giving you a a
5839s resource engine you're essentially a
5841s fireball machine gun isett so we've got
5843s a little bit of a season 4 to season 5
5845s comparison here of what it looks
5847s like a little video so in season 4 you
5849s can see you know every third cast gives
5851s you three but season five you're going
5853s to randomly get three three and then
5856s sometimes even more when it combines
5857s with a double projectile bonus so you
5859s can actually really fill up your screen
5861s with with Fireballs everywhere and every
5862s one of those bounces is giving you Mana
5864s back to to cast more that's ludicrous so
5867s it's it's pretty cool it's its own
5869s little engine uh next we've got blue
5871s rose um probably the cool thing to point
5873s out here is there's a chaps for ice
5876s spikes to explode twice so this is also
5879s something that we haven't really done
5880s where we have these we call them sub
5882s Powers internally but you know these
5883s things like dust lels or ice spikes that
5885s are like powers that generate when you
5887s cast a skill that are usually through
5889s legendaries or uniques we generally
5891s don't manipulate them too heavily like
5892s this but we're going to be experimenting
5894s more with that in unique uh stat affixes
5896s so here you know your ice spikes can
5898s actually like double proc so they get
5900s you know double explosions and then any
5901s other things that would proc off that
5902s would be uh which is pretty
5906s neat all next let's move on to the Druid
5909s um so waxing gibbis uh this is the shred
5912s to Druid unique um so what we did here
5915s that I want to point out you know in
5916s addition to the fact that you need to
5917s get a bunch of skill ranks to shred and
5919s toxic claws which is a bunch more
5921s multiplicative damage so power level is
5922s going up significantly um is blood how
5925s grants stealth for a few seconds so
5927s what's really cool about this is you
5929s know we basically added a new mechanic
5930s via a simple item stat in this unique
5932s and it combines with the unique effect
5934s right so before on live you know you
5936s kill enemies with shred you go into
5938s stealth and then you come out you
5939s guaranteed crit so as you're killing
5940s enemies over and over you're just
5941s critting constantly as you go in and out
5943s of stealth but you couldn't really do
5944s that against bosses you had no other
5946s ways to get into stealth but now we've
5948s created an alternative way where if you
5950s cast blood howl or get the blood howl
5951s effect in other ways you'll go into
5953s stealth and get this proc and now you
5955s can get this you know against single
5957s bosses or in situations you couldn't
5958s before so we've given you a potential
5960s way to create your own engine which is
5962s pretty neat to get those infinite crits
5965s uh next great staff of the Crone I
5967s believe we showed this one earlier to
5968s people but uh what just wanted to point
5970s out you know what was special about this
5971s um storm strike chaining to additional
5973s targets you know things like this again
5975s it's a single stat that does something
5977s that kind of really changes how the
5978s unique works right it's going you're
5980s going to get all the different procs and
5981s different effects by changing to more
5982s enemies more often um you can also see
5985s here that the upper end of that damage
5987s that you could get is going up from 150%
5989s to 200 so it's just
5992s better and last not least we got Storm's
5994s companion this one I again wanted to
5996s highlight another new thing that we're
5997s doing um and I want to call out here is
6000s the lucky hit chance for the pack leader
6002s Spirit Boon so normally we never really
6004s manipulate class mechanics um but here
6007s you know this pack leader this isn't
6009s like a passive or in the skill tree this
6011s is in the spe Boon your class mechanic
6013s and this increases that lucky hit chance
6014s to get a reset on cool down on the cool
6016s Downs of all your companion skills so
6019s again this is something that you know
6020s normally we don't get to manipulate and
6021s now you'll be able to to do and I think
6023s it'll be pretty cool we have also
6025s decided that pack leader is two words
6027s instead of one yeah yeah everything's
6029s getting updated yeah everything
6032s everything's up everything's
6035s changing all right moving on to the
6037s Rogue uh Eagle Horn uh let me see what
6040s did I want to I think just pointing out
6041s here this was about uh moving the the
6044s tempered recipe the penetrating shot
6046s projectiles can cast twice again another
6048s example of that we're also giving you a
6049s bunch of skill ranks to penetrating shot
6051s again this is a way that we're adding
6053s just like raw power and damage in ways
6056s that aren't in the unique effect so
6058s these stats on these things can be very
6060s strong out the gate and then again
6061s tempering and masterworking just makes
6063s these go go really really
6066s high uh next word of a con this one was
6069s a really H silly fun one that we liked
6071s um you see there the one I want to point
6073s out well one is the ultimate damage
6074s actually ultimate skill damage for the
6076s Rogue uh is kind of a premium because
6078s they have that Paragon node that makes
6079s it turn into multiplicative damage for
6081s all your skills so that's actually
6082s pretty meaty um it's also way higher
6085s value than normal also the chance for
6087s rain of arrows waves to cast twice so
6090s normally we don't do you know chance to
6092s double cast on ultimates but again
6094s uniques get to break the rules so now
6096s you've got you know Juiced up Rain of
6098s Arrow's cooldown reduction they can cast
6100s twice and they hit way harder on the
6102s rain of arrows themed unique so again
6104s really trying to bring out the theme and
6106s the the fantasy of these uniques in the
6108s stats in the effects to really create
6110s something
6111s special and next SA to Signet I was
6114s running this in season 4 I'm a little
6116s sad that I'm going to be doing something
6117s else in season 5 uh but I loved my stun
6119s grenade build but here you can see a
6121s bunch of grenade damage obvious theme
6123s for the grenade build we're also giving
6125s you a lot of your stun grenade size here
6127s and then again a new AIX that kind of
6129s creates your own engine you're getting
6131s plus one energy when a stung grenade
6132s explodes and this is each individual
6134s grenade right so you usually release a
6136s cluster of these things so now again I I
6138s spent a lot of my time in season 4
6140s trying to solve resource and get ways to
6143s to cast us a lot to throw out those stun
6144s grenades and now this kind of crate
6146s helps its own engine um also one thing
6149s to point out here is that it's no longer
6150s just a flurry unique um it's casting a
6153s core skill throws sling grenades so it's
6155s a lot more generically applicable you
6156s can use this with you know all the
6158s different core skills not just
6160s flurry U next Necromancer um the big one
6163s I wanted to point out here we're going
6164s to be showing both of the blood surge uh
6166s uniques and how they've been updated and
6168s they combo with each other uh we have a
6170s stat here that blood surge drains more
6172s times from Elites so to be clear this is
6175s the drain not the explosion um but the
6177s drain does feed into the explosion
6179s damage and there's a lot of like Synergy
6180s and Things based on draining enemies so
6183s now you know one of the problems that
6184s blood surge has always had is you when
6186s you're fighting a single Target or a
6187s boss you know you only drain one enemy
6189s and then you're not getting your like
6190s explosion damage up but now you're going
6192s to be draining multiple times from those
6194s Elites so you're going to getting you
6196s know more life back and other procs when
6197s you drain but also your explosion will
6199s be uh more significant now against
6202s them um next death speakers pendant this
6205s is the other blood surge unique um we
6207s also added another thing that combines
6208s with the other unique where you're
6209s getting Essence per enemy drained right
6211s and so now as you drain enemies for the
6214s explosion you're going to be getting
6215s more Essence back to cast the skill and
6217s spam it more we're also giving you a
6218s bunch of ranks to blood surge which you
6220s know just makes sense so you know 50%
6223s you know before masterworking in
6225s tempering multiplicative damage is
6226s already a giant buff to this but then
6228s also you can see that you know the
6230s numbers also went up on this as well so
6231s it's just going to be uh going to be
6233s pretty
6235s significant can't wait and last but not
6237s least uh Greaves of the empty tomb this
6240s is your sever unique lots of stuff to
6242s point out here one is you have multiple
6244s inherence so you know normally you can
6246s only get three max of eight charges you
6248s get more here we also had a fun little
6250s thing where your aade now leaves behind
6252s desecrated ground because this is the
6253s desecrated ground unique uh we also have
6255s chance for sever projectiles to cast
6257s twice we have sever size here um we also
6261s give you ranks to Reapers Pursuit so
6263s this is about just like moving and
6264s grooving like going around um one thing
6267s I want to point out here as well is this
6269s new aspect of creeping Mist that came in
6271s and you can combine this with the
6272s Greaves of the empty tomb so this new
6275s aspect um you know we heard that necro
6277s players want mobility and boy did we
6279s give you Mobility so what this does is
6281s when you evade during first of all you
6283s get evade cool down reduction so you
6284s evade more um but when you evade during
6286s blood Mist you travel twice as far and
6288s both when you enter and exit blood Mist
6291s it reects your evade cool down and one
6294s of the things that makes this crazy
6295s where we might actually be crazy and I
6297s hope we don't have to revisit this but
6299s we're going to see is that that reset of
6301s your V cool down counts for all of your
6302s charges of evade so what this means is
6305s and we have a video is that you can
6306s evade five times then evade in blood
6310s mist and then evade five more times so
6313s see here then you're evading in blood
6314s mist and you're leaving behind that
6315s desecrated ground everywhere around you
6318s know y it's like an ice skating R so
6320s every time you cast blood Mist you're
6322s going to be getting 10 of
6324s it's silly and hilarious um but we're
6327s putting it in the game and I hope we
6329s don't regret it necros are going to be
6331s zooming yeah they're going to be zooming
6333s with this so yeah so that's kind of our
6335s preview of our uniques and kind of
6336s what's coming into the game again we're
6338s pretty excited about it I think it's
6339s going to be pretty cool yeah but yeah

6400s able to go in and choose the rewards
6401s that they want to choose not necessarily
6404s what somebody else gets to first or what
6406s the party leader wants so every
6408s individual party member will have their
6410s own choice of

6504s with that system at least for now um but
6507s no you're going to be what we what I
6509s wanted to say or be clarify on is that
6510s you can get tempering affixes on uniques
6513s like they they'll just drop with those
6515s affixes or whatever but you can't like
6517s go to the to the blacksmith and
6518s manipulate them in that way you can't
6520s temper them Goa cool cool thanks for

6525s Adam uh it's doy has a question for
6528s danant tangue are there any plans to
6531s continue iterating on the infernal
6532s hordes in the future since it's a
6534s permanent addition are there going to be
6536s more Boons and Banes

6542s and yeah just to reiterate what you had
6544s pointed out there uh this is an eternal
6547s realm feature that's going to appear in
6550s the game forever more and so this is
6552s just the first version of it I mean you
6554s think back to what hell tide was in the
6556s base game and how we've iterated on that
6559s over time to get it to where it is we're
6561s going to continue investing similar
6563s levels of effort into the infernal
6564s hordes too and so uh Boons and Baines is
6568s something we heard a lot about uh
6570s feedback uh during the PTR and so we
6574s absolutely want to make more
6576s improvements to the the Boon and bins
6578s and so stay tuned um that's not going to
6581s hit in season five uh but we'll we'll
6584s figure out where we can get it in in
6586s future Seasons awesome great to hear
6588s that we're going to continue tinkering
6589s on that feature in the in the seasons to
6591s come uh got a really interesting
6594s question from manoor imp with regards to
6597s those Mano imp we know Mano imp uh with
6599s regards to the damage increase per class
6601s resource sure uh they're asking is the
6603s spear born getting 1% damage at seven
6605s points if it's their main stat uh just
6607s because they have a lower amount of
6608s weapons yeah uh TBD TBD I don't want to
6612s go on a MTH on Spirit born yet but uh
6615s they'll be getting similar treatment to
6617s all the other stuff all of this is kind
6618s of Evergreen so awesome awesome uh luk

6629s you consider removing the Paragon

6665s through the reputation board and then uh
6667s get another resplendant spark really the
6670s question be honest really that's truly
6672s the question we get yes you can you can
6674s get character specific so you can yeah
6678s nice um systematic 5K Adam Jackson will
6683s existing uniques be updated with these
6685s new unique changes yeah we we get this
6687s every round that we update them it's the
6689s same rules as always which is the unique
6691s power when we update that is your your
6695s existing uniques will get that right so
6696s when we increase your damage range or
6698s whatever that's going to get but the
6699s stats those are going to be Legacy on
6702s any items that exist so you're going to
6703s have to reform your unique to get the
6705s new stats that are on them and that's
6707s kind of the way that they're going to
6708s work going forward unless you say
6710s otherwise yeah it's it's it's just how
6712s things work under the Hood um for when
6714s when we do changes on them so yeah

6762s is something where if we add like new
6764s tempers or new affixes or whatever we
6767s will probably need to go back and update
6769s uniques that that we wanted to apply to
6771s and and make it you know work again um
6774s our hope is that these uniques are going
6775s to be pretty like future proof in that
6778s they're going to be very meaty in the
6779s amount of power that they give you um
6781s they're also extremely thematic but I
6782s think we do reserve the right like hey
6784s if we find a new idea for uh existing
6787s passive or existing temper that that is
6789s introduced to the game and we want to
6790s put it on we we can do that um I will
6792s say also one thing that we want to do
6794s more is like just come up with really
6795s crazy new ones that aren't even really
6797s tempering recipes but just like crazy
6799s effects right like blood how grants
6801s stealth or you drain more with your you
6803s know blood surch stuff like that so I
6805s would expect we'll probably be updating

6827s greater a I know there was a lot of like
6829s feedback after season 4 regarding um uh
6833s tempering and potentially bricking items
6835s and one update that we talked about
6836s during the PTR stream and I want to
6838s mention it wasn't in PTR but is in uh
6841s season five specifically is uh gritter
6845s affixes will actually get additional
6847s temporary roles on them based on the
6849s greater AIX you know quality of of what
6852s they are so uh for for um like like
6856s greater aics one star ones you'll end up
6858s getting one additional temporary roll um
6860s and then a Grows by how many Star that
6863s there are so that is going in season
6865s five so and I we mentioned it last
6867s stream I just wanted to reiterate it cuz
6868s I actually forgot we should have mention
6870s it yeah great great to mention that Adam
6872s that's awesome uh we got a easy one here
6876s from Z weapons uh what is a Mythic
6878s unique there was a purple
6881s item yeah you can tune into to our last
6883s stream for it but yeah basically what
6885s was Uber uniques is what people call
6887s them um it's basically like you know the
6889s the really best items in the game that
6891s have like perfect stats and everything
6893s we rebranded them to Mythic uniques they
6895s now have their own special color special
6896s beam when they drop they just got a
6897s whole treatment to really make them feel
6899s like the the penultimate items that that
6901s they are in the game yeah yeah that's
6903s awesome uh Sophie
6905s 0257 uh are they going to make it so
6908s that we can pre-download the update or
6910s will it be available only on the 6th
6912s that's a great question based off uh
6915s feedback from season 4's launch the
6917s patch will be available to download
6919s roughly an hour before season of The
6921s Infernal hordes launches so that season
6922s goes live at 10:00 a.m. and roughly an
6924s hour before you'll be able to
6926s pre-download the patch to get into the
6927s game and get ready for the season yeah I

6929s going like why not multiple days and
6931s things like that we're getting there

6955s begin which is roughly like 10: a.m.

6960s just jump in without needing to download

6969s masterworking and brackets higher cost
6971s but you know you can choose upgrades and
6973s tempering to make these systems have

6984s know feels really bad for players like I

6997s thinking about that's a little lighter

7006s talking about moving towards but nothing
7008s like of overhauling the system and doing

7086s gameplay but I'm not exactly sure if
7088s there's a ton coming
7089s out so we can actually uh there are a
7094s couple of um new uniques in Hell uh that
7098s you can earn that will have all new
7099s looks to them that you can Sol the use
7102s cosmetic yep bam there you go Dan the
7104s Savior from Albany there you go fro
7108s Bolson uh hot pancakes are there still
7111s plans for rare and magic items I guess
7114s in terms of like a rework or changing
7116s their functionality in any way yeah I'd
7118s say nothing to announce today for that

7128s and D's uh can we expect skill trees or
7131s support gem to change the way skills
7134s work can we expect skill trees or

7139s works I mean we're not doing any skill
7141s tree overhaul right now in season five
7143s um I do think we have talked a bit on
7145s the team about having a desire of the
7148s the upgrades for skills being like more
7150s impactful and really impactful um
7152s nothing to announce today but it is
7154s something that is on our radar and I
7155s think is cool I think one example that
7158s that we talk about a lot on the team is
7159s like the kick upgrade for the Barbarian
7161s where normally you know when we
7163s originally designing kick it was this
7164s idea that you have this like skill where
7166s you hit enemy you care about the
7167s geometry of the place around you you
7169s want to hit them into the wall and then
7170s they get knocked down take a bunch of
7171s damage and all this stuff um that part
7173s hasn't really played I think as well cuz
7175s the pace of our game is so fast but one
7177s of the upgrades for kick um especially I
7179s remember in the early beta like way
7182s before maybe it was Alpha even um kick
7184s you know it converts kick from this
7186s cooldown based geometry skill into just
7188s a Powerhouse where it just spends all
7190s your resource and does a buttload of
7191s damage to an enemy
7193s um and it was like one shotting World
7194s bosses and stuff back then like it was
7196s it was hilarious I think I remember that
7198s but the the the the skill still has that
7200s upgrade but I referenced that upgrade a
7202s lot because I think it's really cool
7203s when you can convert a skill to like
7205s used to be cool down and now isn't or
7207s used to be about this utility and now
7209s it's just damage or vice versa where it
7211s like really changes what a skill does um
7214s we think it's really cool uh it
7215s definitely would be a lot of work to
7217s like do that to every skill but I think
7219s it's something that's worth talking
7220s about and pursuing so it is on our radar
7222s something to do but nothing to announce
