s | so today we're gonna be demoing some eco |
---|---|
s | stuff and talking about our new cultures |
s | so I'm John Kay I'm CEO strange loop and |
s | designer on eco and to my right is |
s | Keegan their artist extraordinaire on |
s | eco who does a lot of our biome design |
s | as well and a whole bunch of other stuff |
s | and we have Craig hi designer slash |
s | programmer who builds out the tech tree |
s | and all kinds of stuff on ego so yeah so |
s | we're gonna be talking about the the |
s | latest bill talking about what's coming |
s | up and answering questions from you guys |
s | so feel free to jump in and ask us |
s | anything as you go we should get the |
s | game plane as well while we're doing |
s | this Hey so we'll just be showing off |
s | you go while we answer questions so go |
s | ahead and send some through well if you |
s | wanna set us up for questions you can so |
s | there's some general concern though from |
s | fans just about the game in general and |
s | specifically the length of time since |
s | the last update so I'll just mention |
s | that we are hard at work on some really |
s | big updates to the game we're not |
s | stopping anytime soon and you don't have |
s | to worry about updates trailing off or |
s | anything like that |
s | the reason it's been a long time it's |
s | because we've been working on some some |
s | massive stuff so we hope you'll be |
s | patient and I think we'll be excited to |
s | see what we're working on when we're |
s | finished with it cool yeah so we've got |
s | our 8.0 builds coming out that's gonna |
s | be a big biome patch gonna play sure so |
s | that's going to be introducing all kinds |
s | of new biomes to the game new animals |
s | and it's gonna look really different so |
s | that's that's the big one we've been |
s | working on |
s | suddenly it's kind of a minor patch that |
s | we're just heading right now so the big |
s | one is to come still seven eight is |
s | about the launch later today I'll just |
s | introduce myself so hey guys my name is |
s | will is that we're not a will faceless |
s | voice asking you guys questions |
s | any questions to the team and I'll be |
s | behind the camera so a question about |
s | transportation stuff specifically trains |
s | rails so are we going to be doing more |
s | along that so trains and Reno's aren't |
s | in the immediate future is something I |
s | want to do eventually we had a big |
s | vehicles patch which was a 7.0 that was |
s | adding the steam tractor in and cranes |
s | elevator and a bunch of other stuff so |
s | probably not get on vehicles immediately |
s | but eventually that's something we're |
s | going to come back to this guy also |
s | mentioned that when you build a powered |
s | car its uses can the steam truck pull |
s | the powered carts are actually chose to |
s | be phased out |
s | so when 8.0 comes out they actually |
s | won't exist at all in the game so their |
s | spot in the tech tree is actually |
s | replaced by the steam truck so if they |
s | see them they come to glows together |
s | that's because that's intentional see a |
s | question here and someone is sleeping on |
s | the server could another player join yes |
s | you can and it will actually interrupt |
s | the sleep of the player so everyone on |
s | the server has to be sleeping in order |
s | for it to advance time so it's primarily |
s | something for like private servers or |
s | small groups of people where everybody |
s | agrees to advance time and then you just |
s | everybody gets in a bed and time will |
s | start accelerating and as soon as one |
s | person wakes up everybody wakes up so |
s | it's kind of an all-or-nothing thing not |
s | really used for public servers public |
s | servers are keeping that approach where |
s | the game is running continuously and you |
s | come back over multiple days you know |
s | just to give time for lots of players |
s | that come in and have these you know |
s | build up economies on their own schedule |
s | and interact asynchronously so we're |
s | still sticking with that with them but |
s | yeah it's sure to make a single player |
s | experience quite a bit different that |
s | you can now you know you're never |
s | blocked on waiting for anything you can |
s | always speed things up |
s | or will spawn the it will spawn only on |
s | new ones currently yeah it's not just |
s | adding biomes like the entirety of our |
s | world generation is getting overhauled |
s | so it will just be a good idea to |
s | generate a new map because the way it's |
s | laid out will be significantly different |
s | yeah there's enough gigantic changes |
s | that it would be pretty difficult to |
s | reverse migrate biomes yeah so we will |
s | migrate existing servers you can still |
s | plan on but they won't have the new |
s | biomes until you refresh |
s | start a new world it's 8.0 in 2019 how |
s | much does sleepy in advanced time yes |
s | the goal is to get 8.0 in 2019 probably |
s | early December yeah |
s | biome king desert 8.0 yeah not seventy |
s | one eighteen your honor just give us a |
s | rundown of what's coming for the biome |
s | changes sure |
s | well we've we're basically going to be |
s | adding some entirely new biomes to the |
s | game one of the biggest ones this ring |
s | is a rainforest biome we're also going |
s | through and sort of splitting up and |
s | better organizing the things that we |
s | have I think 8.0 is not going to have |
s | all of the biome update in one it'll |
s | probably be a phase thing where we have |
s | you know some some of the updates and |
s | some of the new plants and animals and |
s | everything like that and then we'll |
s | continue that in another update |
s | afterwards but I can say that yeah |
s | there's going to be a rain forest biome |
s | taiga and tundra will be two distinct |
s | biomes with their own soil types |
s | the other big thing that's happening |
s | with biomes in addition to new plants |
s | and animals is soil and rocks so rocks |
s | will be basically split |
s | into actual different kinds of rocks so |
s | instead of just stone you're gonna have |
s | different types of sedimentary |
s | metamorphic and igneous rocks to start |
s | with just a few it is probably one for |
s | each category to start but we're gonna |
s | have things like limestone so basically |
s | the idea is with all these new biomes |
s | they each have resources that are unique |
s | to those areas that are encouraging you |
s | to exploit resources that are located |
s | within one biome and be forced to you |
s | know travel there and extract it and |
s | bring it back to wherever you're |
s | settling so we really want to overall |
s | the balance of the game in terms of |
s | exploration and and in terms of where |
s | you're building or settlements how |
s | you're thinking about you know taking |
s | resources from the world so there's |
s | gonna be yeah big updates to to a lot of |
s | a lot of the natural world basically |
s | it's gonna get a lot of changes and |
s | improvements Keegan is a hiker and biome |
s | researcher he's designed a lot of how |
s | this stuff works so yeah some pretty |
s | realistic stuff some of them are |
s | probably most realistic biomes you see |
s | and most sandbox games so pretty |
s | interesting they have that coming |
s | through will also have other kind of |
s | natural features like lakes deserts you |
s | know different rivers everything's kind |
s | of getting updated |
s | yeah most everything with the world |
s | generations being updated so it's going |
s | to be a big big step up I think and and |
s | you know it's going to be a large enough |
s | change that I'm sure there's going to be |
s | a lot that we're going to polish and |
s | continue changing once we've got this |
s | initial push out things are going to be |
s | changing a lot in the next you know five |
s | months or whatever at least going to be |
s | a lot that's somebody mentioned Marvel |
s | that's something I was thinking about |
s | too you'd be really cool to have Marvel |
s | especially for like government buildings |
s | yeah Marvel is a metamorphic rock it's |
s | on the list it's not it's not on the |
s | initial push you want to go |
s | absolute basics of sort of geology |
s | having one sort of basement metamorphic |
s | rock which is probably going to be nice |
s | to start out with yeah |
s | marble will be something that we can add |
s | that later on from I believe |
s | metamorphosed limestone so we are adding |
s | limestone so once we have limestone and |
s | you have all these basic building blocks |
s | you can start to place resources such as |
s | like marble you can add marble and |
s | actually have it make sense in the world |
s | you can have it you know beneath a bunch |
s | of limestone as if that limestone you |
s | know was putting the pressure on |
s | entering into marble so so the more we |
s | add the more we'll be able to place |
s | things in an interesting manner and give |
s | players ways to sort of make logical |
s | associations that you look through the |
s | world for for different resources like |
s | that see somebody asks water and water |
s | flow yeah we're actually doing a big |
s | thing with pipes 48.0 so we're kind of |
s | reviving those and making them more |
s | needed in different crafting objects so |
s | you expect to see that you have towns we |
s | haven't set up plumbing for everybody |
s | and kind of water systems for different |
s | villages and things like that so another |
s | interesting public works project that |
s | you have to collaborate on and you know |
s | you're going to be generating pollution |
s | from these so that connects the |
s | pollution side as well is that you'll |
s | have started having this pollution |
s | output from like normal everyday kind of |
s | objects that you have to make and build |
s | pipes and deals it or you can just leave |
s | it and don't pollute the area or it's |
s | basically a problem you have to solve |
s | with your village and governments I |
s | assume they were talking about the way |
s | water flows in the world yeah speaking |
s | of water there is a lot of interest in |
s | both I have something on the list we |
s | don't have it for the immediate update |
s | but definitely it's gonna be a big |
s | transport option where you can just |
s | instead of building a road you just get |
s | a boat and sail across the ocean that's |
s | something that's always been a huge |
s | transportation yeah and speaking of this |
s | update somebody is asking what else is |
s | going to be in 7/8 or some of the cool |
s | features we can talk about besides sleep |
s | it's really just sleep as the main |
s | feature everything else is kind of minor |
s | quality of life stuff we'll post the |
s | patch notes so yeah so most of the past |
s | couple months we weren't got an 8.0 but |
s | we wanted to get a quick kind of mini |
s | patch out before that one happens so |
s | it's not representative over the last |
s | two months there's just a small change |
s | that we are we're pushing out while |
s | we're working towards 8.0 is electricity |
s | switches gates XOR and NAND nor is it |
s | are part of the plans yes actually we do |
s | have test objects for that already right |
s | now but they should exist they're all |
s | hidden yeah we have these little secret |
s | objects right now that are not finished |
s | but like here's a switch for example and |
s | you can you know set this up oh it's not |
s | I'm not authorized on it right now to |
s | open doors for example or do other kinds |
s | of things so it's kind of like redstone |
s | if you're familiar with that but it's |
s | basically the same way of setting up |
s | mechanical objects and then we have a |
s | whole object but working on the loop |
s | tool connected the economy so you come |
s | up with this and you have to pay a toll |
s | to hit the switch for example and that |
s | will open a door to a toll bridge for |
s | example or let you into a house so you |
s | can start having these kind of complex |
s | machines that are actually part of the |
s | economy see people asking about fps yeah |
s | performance is something were kind of |
s | just working on continuously so we're |
s | gonna keep having patches that focus on |
s | that you know we have people work you |
s | know in performance 48.0 so just kind of |
s | something's gonna have constant |
s | improvements especially there's any |
s | slowdowns or things where it's it's a |
s | chain or disconnect |
s | people those are top priority so expect |
s | to see that keeps getting better |
s | interested in more use for gold or |
s | copper well I can definitely say that we |
s | have a lot of ideas and plans and |
s | designs for improving mineral processing |
s | and earth resources so we're kind of |
s | starting with the base of the pyramid |
s | you could say with with the biomes |
s | update you know where we're focusing on |
s | what are the resources that we want and |
s | what are the primary reasons we want |
s | them for the technology so we're |
s | starting to work out a lot more of that |
s | with the biomes update as we consider |
s | things like rocks and earth resources |
s | which include all the different types of |
s | ore copper ore we're actually looking at |
s | adding new types of ore as well but |
s | we'll definitely be looking at how each |
s | one of those is used in the tech tree |
s | especially you know in the coming months |
s | as we implement more of them as natural |
s | resources things like copper I know are |
s | going to be getting a lot more use for |
s | piping and things like that water piping |
s | so there's there's a lot of there's a |
s | lot of yeah plans we have for for the |
s | use of earth resources for sure question |
s | for crane okay what do you feel about |
s | the current profession specialty balance |
s | are you satisfied with it or what are |
s | your ideas hence the balance between |
s | them and making them work in coal |
s | valuable well feel like the first part |
s | is kind of like answer dry the second |
s | when they're not obviously they're not |
s | pretty guilty well balanced I mean and |
s | so I've always been in the cooking was |
s | like sort of up there and we've been |
s | trying to slowly move the other |
s | profession sort of in line with that |
s | rather than taking cooking down we do |
s | have a lot of skill changes coming into |
s | eighth so I wouldn't expect any like |
s | huge balance related stuff in |
s | seven-point-eight because all that stuff |
s | is going to be kind of shuffled up by |
s | the skill changes that are coming after |
s | yeah I want to talk about that great |
s | like sure |
s | so just in essence we're going to try |
s | and we've always been trying to get the |
s | other professions to sort of interplay |
s | with the other professions more in a |
s | similar manner to how cooking does with |
s | the other profession so like right now |
s | if you want to be like whatever a Mason |
s | you still need to go buy food from the |
s | cook because the cook gives you your |
s | skill points to increase your skill so |
s | essentially we want to make housing was |
s | like basically the beginning of this |
s | we're trying to sort of get the other |
s | professions to play an integral role as |
s | cooking and so we have some plans for |
s | like just like disposable used items |
s | from the other professions to sort of |
s | try and tie them into like progression |
s | for everybody as far as the skill system |
s | goes we're reworking essentially on all |
s | the skills work pretty much every skill |
s | like the base level skill in the game |
s | which would be like the efficiency |
s | skills the speed skill and stuff like |
s | that that are like inside the |
s | specialties are all getting baked into |
s | the specialties themselves so when you |
s | take a carpentry you will just have |
s | efficiency and then you will by doing |
s | actions related to that profession |
s | you'll level up your specialty this is |
s | gonna be huge change the skill system |
s | where your actions will affect what |
s | you're doing or so you choose your |
s | specialties but then you like increase |
s | that specialty by doing yes and I like |
s | crafting and yeah it's basically doing |
s | anything related to profession so if |
s | you're like a wood cutter you cut trees |
s | down to gain experience so the main |
s | worry here would be that we've always |
s | been trying to keep it so that people |
s | who can't play as much can still |
s | contribute to the game so essentially |
s | what's gonna happen now is your |
s | specialties will matter more when you |
s | take like say you take carpentry your |
s | efficiency will immediately jump up to |
s | currently extended 50 percent that may |
s | change before the release but your as |
s | soon as you take carpentry you'll be |
s | good at it and then by doing it a lot |
s | you'll get even better so even somebody |
s | who like can't log on every day can |
s | still work with the skill at a degree |
s | that's a lot better than other people |
s | but you still have someone to work |
s | as you play this is kind of addressing |
s | an issue where if you wanted to be as |
s | efficient as possible the best way to |
s | play would be to unlock the skill and |
s | then wait until you get full efficiency |
s | yeah so now the only way to get |
s | efficiency is by actually doing it so |
s | you're not incentivized to sit there and |
s | wait so that kind of addresses that |
s | issue so you're still getting your skill |
s | points are still as you're getting XP |
s | while you're doing so multiplied by your |
s | your housing and food value so it's |
s | still a huge impact this you know these |
s | personal quantities here yeah yeah so |
s | basically what the old nutrition system |
s | still works pretty much exactly how it |
s | is like you'll your skill rate will |
s | still increase the rate at which you can |
s | get new specialties and then it will |
s | also influence the rate at which you |
s | gain experience for doing the actions so |
s | if you have like a really nice house and |
s | you eat really well you'll gain |
s | experience to get higher efficiency |
s | faster while doing those things yep and |
s | how do you think this will affect the |
s | society and like the distribution of |
s | skills will people be able to experience |
s | more aspects we came by testing out |
s | different skills I feel like for the |
s | most part it will remain roughly similar |
s | another thing that's happening with this |
s | is we're allowing some of the previously |
s | like profession blocks things to be done |
s | by other people but since their |
s | efficiency looks to be lower it won't be |
s | as good so if they want to try and |
s | experience those things while not being |
s | in that specialty they might be able to |
s | do that yeah I think that a lot actually |
s | was I'm just giving everyone more more |
s | things to do so we can ask you about the |
s | proceeds because you can actually get |
s | them in a game right now so for all of |
s | the seeds just all of them we're gonna |
s | move them to a new system where instead |
s | of whacking like the branches off trees |
s | or when you cut them down they leave |
s | debris you're gonna harvest the debris |
s | for the seeds and that will work with |
s | all the trees as opposed to just the |
s | original world graphics being seven |
s | eight |
s | yes I believe so yeah so they're kind of |
s | partially in 7a demographics so |
s | demographics is a feature where you can |
s | define sets of players so there's a |
s | default one which is citizen which is |
s | players who have spent more than two |
s | hours in the game and then when you you |
s | can designate that group in law so for |
s | example by default only citizens can |
s | vote so we have this you know it's going |
s | to be a pretty flexible system so 7e |
s | I'll have the very beginnings of it but |
s | the idea is that you can define all |
s | kinds of things about players like |
s | players who have as much property or |
s | contributed this or you know whatever |
s | you want basically and then have rules |
s | affect different people differently so |
s | somebody has like specialize in a skill |
s | maybe they're in a special like lumber |
s | person group and then they have |
s | different ability to force because |
s | they're more efficient and chopping them |
s | down things like that so let you have |
s | much more specific settings in your laws |
s | will we be able to artificially engineer |
s | a biome by say directing water to a |
s | desert then yeah that's interesting |
s | question and that should just work again |
s | change the moisture that will slowly |
s | change over time so what happens now is |
s | it will work but you won't see the |
s | species that would occur there unless |
s | they could get there naturally which I |
s | mean like if you create a rain forest in |
s | the middle desert you're not gonna get |
s | your rainforest plants species won't be |
s | able to populate there if you manage |
s | don't like connect that with another |
s | rain voice they'll slowly move into that |
s | area one of you can't you can't even |
s | plant them in there and like oh yeah you |
s | should actually be able to do that if |
s | you do a farming plan of a species where |
s | somewhere where they can grown a |
s | population grow naturally someone asked |
s | if recipes will still be unlocked in the |
s | new prevents you |
s | system or is a room like everything it's |
s | still logged correct it's a combination |
s | of both it's a little bit more free now |
s | but there are definitely some stuff |
s | that's going to be locked but yeah it's |
s | definitely less so than it was before |
s | see someone asked government and |
s | contract screen still looks daunting |
s | anything to adjust that so government is |
s | going to be the next big update after |
s | biomes so I haven't talked a lot about |
s | that but we're going to be doing some |
s | really cool stuff with like Constitution |
s | so you can have you can actually design |
s | their own government and create like how |
s | to elections work how who can vote for |
s | what what actions require votes what can |
s | just be done by Fiat you can have like |
s | impeachable roles and then how does the |
s | impeachment process for so it's gonna be |
s | this really flexible system so you won't |
s | start the game and go with the |
s | government but you will actually have to |
s | build up different parts of it so you'll |
s | need to create like a building that |
s | gives you access to elections and voting |
s | and you'll need to make a building then |
s | let you have you know a constitution |
s | that like she designs the government |
s | itself so that's gonna be really big |
s | change I know we do want to make it |
s | really easy to use but your point about |
s | about it being daunting that's something |
s | we're gonna have like you know make it |
s | really streamlined to use lots of help |
s | while still being really powerful so |
s | just given a lot of players kind of |
s | design these crazy like communities that |
s | they're they're creating Weaver's came a |
s | lot of about 78 ladders yes ladders are |
s | coming in so that can really change how |
s | you move around your environment that's |
s | going to be good he else keeps asking |
s | about vehicles too so I don't think |
s | there was any major updates to vehicles |
s | there's a nice shot fix and bugs |
s | wouldn't fly up into this guy so I mean |
s | to fit the physics with vehicles is |
s | something we're constantly looking out |
s | right like it's gonna get better yeah I |
s | don't know if you have any plans to |
s | anymore |
s | not only immediate horizon I think |
s | there's definitely yeah like like we |
s | were talking about earlier votes there |
s | are definite plans for more vehicles in |
s | the game but just not immediate horizon |
s | yeah another big update and change to |
s | existing vehicles and new vehicles salt |
s | it's all on the fire plan the chorus was |
s | asking about electricity they would love |
s | to be able to sell power to a city that |
s | would be pretty awesome I feel like at |
s | Enron level corporation yeah I mean I |
s | think power is definitely one of the |
s | things that's in in our minds and most |
s | of the developers Minds is something |
s | that will definitely get focused in the |
s | future as well and a big update we can |
s | turn them on and off yeah yeah that was |
s | always the original goal is to have |
s | power be something you can connect to |
s | the economy so definitely want to make |
s | that something you can charge for and |
s | have your kilowatt hours or whatever it |
s | is |
s | so in general kind of this comes down to |
s | like the design direction of ego and the |
s | things that we still want to add to it |
s | before considering at one point oh and a |
s | lot of that is the kind of community |
s | based systems like building a power |
s | Network building a sewage system |
s | plumbing system building like a library |
s | or something for the community so these |
s | projects that take a lot of |
s | collaboration they take a lot of |
s | resources and they're just challenging |
s | to organize that you have to you know |
s | use laws use taxes use all these things |
s | at your disposal in order to make them |
s | possible so we want to keep fleshing out |
s | those kind of aspects of the game and |
s | that's that's kind of the the idea of |
s | what we have to look forward to as we |
s | move forward any code satsuki |
s | was interested in non-player body |
s | corporations and public property |
s | including mints and dance so |
s | corporations yeah so we're introducing |
s | the title system it's going to be an 8.0 |
s | so players can have right now there's |
s | one title in the game |
s | we're a leader but we're gonna be |
s | changing that so that you can create |
s | your own and define how they relate so |
s | you could make a new title which is you |
s | know the Duke and the Duke has access to |
s | these specific deeds that I give them |
s | rights to so you'll be able to select |
s | them in the property rights for example |
s | now they'll be part of the government |
s | system where you can have these elected |
s | titles so that fits a lot of the |
s | corporations where you can have you know |
s | kind of this this entity which is |
s | consists of other people right now we |
s | just have like voting and things are |
s | specifically for the government but I do |
s | kind of want to extend those controls to |
s | corporations and then we have bank |
s | accounts another another big feature |
s | that's coming it's already in you know |
s | and the idea with that is that right now |
s | everybody has one bank account in the |
s | future you'll have multiple and you can |
s | define who has access to them and then |
s | you can have a government specific |
s | accounts as well so you could have like |
s | an account just for taxes that only the |
s | tax Minister titled has access to so you |
s | can have these much more complex kind of |
s | systems that are all going to be |
s | designed by the community and you'll |
s | kind of unlock these as you create |
s | building so in order to get the title |
s | feature you have to build this like |
s | title building in order to get the bank |
s | count feature you have to build a bank |
s | and then they have all these rich |
s | interactions between them so there's a |
s | lot more just like civic creation the |
s | ability to kind of guide this this |
s | community that you're growing one step |
s | at a time it's the you know bank |
s | accounts |
s | Suzuki also says that at the moment |
s | servers without a good background |
s | economics have trouble with making |
s | currency liquid in the market so how can |
s | we address that interesting I suppose |
s | they were asking like just the ability |
s | to like trade currency is less when |
s | people don't understand economics I mean |
s | I would say that that is kind of like an |
s | opportunity in the server if people are |
s | using currency efficiently you playing |
s | that server and use it efficiently and |
s | you're gonna have this advantage to get |
s | more economic activity there but we do |
s | want to add more tools for just |
s | understanding how the economy works |
s | one thing we just marked for the task |
s | today is like on the economy viewer you |
s | can see who has enough money to actually |
s | buy your goods before you go all the way |
s | there who has a source page for it so |
s | just thinking well you know kind of area |
s | on the side of giving lots of |
s | information and letting players to make |
s | decisions about that I think makes the |
s | economy a lot easier to kind of |
s | understand and plan for but it is very |
s | much a tool that players build you know |
s | they decide how much stuff is worst and |
s | so on and are there improvements |
s | scheduled for the laws web interface yes |
s | definitely yeah that's definitely in |
s | need of documentation and that's |
s | something that I'm actually the feature |
s | I'm working on right now is laws and |
s | government so we'll have a lot of |
s | changes for that we're gonna have it so |
s | you can mess with them in-game as well |
s | we have it so it mins can like set up |
s | laws and government if they wants it can |
s | build scenarios there just give me tons |
s | of power to serve room ins and letting |
s | them have these kind of different |
s | scenarios but then making the vanilla |
s | experience where you're creating them |
s | yourself really engaging also so the |
s | players have to really work together to |
s | do this so yes definitely some are |
s | focusing on will there be improvements |
s | to the contract interface along with |
s | government yeah that's not something I'm |
s | doing for 9 oh right now but it is |
s | something I want to revisit it'd be |
s | great to hear people's ideas on how to |
s | improve that but basically I want |
s | contracts to be used a lot more |
s | frequently so one way to do that is to |
s | make them more powerful and also to make |
s | them easier to use and understand so a |
s | contracts pass is definite |
s | in the cars I think that's one of the |
s | more interesting things about the game |
s | is just the ability to like buy and sell |
s | labor not just goods and jacob we have a |
s | bug-fix question is the contract or |
s | things now previously Darren's diversity |
s | currency reset you need users currency |
s | this limits the usage of the contract |
s | board yeah pretty sure that bill got |
s | fixed thank a few weeks ago that should |
s | be inseminate |
s | I see somebody asking there they wanna |
s | hear more about 7/8 |
s | so yeah the big the big feeders |
s | inseminate our sleep ladders performance |
s | fixes bug fixes ones the other big one |
s | we'll have to pull up the the change |
s | list so there's a lot of like little |
s | stuff in 7a so this is yeah kind of |
s | point of this stream is to talk about |
s | that but also kind of the direction that |
s | you go while we're working on next and |
s | we don't participate in the discord |
s | channels quite a bit so if you have like |
s | feedback feel free to message us in |
s | there or chat to our moderators but we |
s | do read all that feedback and a lot of |
s | it does end up getting implemented so |
s | it's great to have that Emma graphic see |
s | demographics thank you I guess we also |
s | have item filters and 7/8 oh yeah |
s | filtered through fun one with show |
s | everybody so we can still have audio on |
s | the stream people there might be worth |
s | just reiterating but you know the big |
s | reason that 7/8 is not a huge update |
s | despite the number of months that have |
s | passed since the last update is because |
s | we're putting in a lot of big overhauls |
s | 40 point out so for anybody who's new |
s | that's that's why it's been so long it's |
s | where we're doing a lot of big stuff for |
s | the the update that's gonna come after |
s | seven eight yeah just a few disseminate |
s | updates for new and improved chat |
s | commands things like slash time slash |
s | fast-forward and then ran improvements |
s | like Avatar animations they're changing |
s | their hair and clothes updated meteor |
s | intro things like that so we'll have a |
s | full changelog up we can read all about |
s | the little pieces |
s | I think cover them okay when I asked |
s | that we could show the 7.8 you know I |
s | think you just jump in there it's kind |
s | of risky to do midstream maybe we'll |
s | leave that are there any plans on |
s | splitting land claim vertical to make |
s | skyscrapers in housing I think that's a |
s | colicchio thank you tower yeah a little |
s | bit idea that's a tricky one to have |
s | like vertical like 3d property |
s | definitely something I'd like to do |
s | though some things I've already kind of |
s | been toying around with are the idea of |
s | collateral so that to support loans |
s | based on your houses so that you can |
s | take a loan where if you fail to pay |
s | back the loan then your property goes to |
s | you the person you owe it to so as far |
s | as that goes that something to keep |
s | looking at we also want to do like a |
s | rental market so you can like |
s | property people through the contract |
s | system and then have like share like |
s | residency the idea of residency so if |
s | you're a resident in a particular |
s | district that might give you privileges |
s | as far as laws of government go it is is |
s | it possible later to index shops |
s | immediately to the Treasury connect |
s | shops to the Treasury and not sure of |
s | the name each one down we had a question |
s | from lo what are the plans for the mod |
s | kit will he go support custom scripts in |
s | unity and how will clients download mods |
s | and future is there any plan for |
s | changing the current system will it |
s | remain the same or have a different |
s | approach we're continue to expand it we |
s | added a bunch of dynamic dy from on so |
s | that you can inside of a modded object |
s | you can just say the the things you want |
s | to get for the object and it'll render |
s | them in the client so you won't need to |
s | create any script you just say like the |
s | how the players like the currency you |
s | have the player select a number so |
s | that's kind of the direction I'm going |
s | right now is having these auto-generated |
s | UI I'd also like to get modded UI in |
s | their passing script is more difficult |
s | because you get the security problem or |
s | you will get past like malicious scripts |
s | but we have thought about having some |
s | kind of like layered scripting sandbox |
s | or something where you can have more |
s | flexibility in there |
s | yeah modding is always gonna be a huge |
s | part of eco it's something we want to |
s | fully support especially as we continue |
s | to grow the engine you know we're making |
s | a ton of investments into the core tech |
s | here because we want to you know keep |
s | growing and expanding it over the years |
s | so there's it's gonna be lots more to |
s | come there and it's really great to have |
s | feedback from autres you got a cool idea |
s | from FNG Maison he says go the full Syfy |
s | route and allow you to have an |
s | electricity back to currency |
s | Cheng's get Bitcoin in there that'd be |
s | pretty cool to have like half the power |
s | the worlds we use on like bitcoins and |
s | it pulled into the planet yeah that |
s | would be interesting |
s | Maison has another good question rental |
s | properties such as rental factories |
s | would there be the possibility for |
s | workers to seize the means of production |
s | huh yeah it's not about like how would |
s | revolutions work in the game how do we |
s | want like should there be a way to |
s | circumvent the existing government and |
s | that's part of the feature that's always |
s | been on our docket of being able to |
s | break laws but I was singing in the |
s | system where the this is all just kind |
s | of you know not developed you have this |
s | concept stage where we have a you know |
s | the size of the ear government building |
s | if someone builds a bigger one they |
s | would be able to like take over it so |
s | there's like a way to seize control in |
s | that way because right now like laws are |
s | unbreakable you know you can never |
s | change them you know without like it in |
s | commands or something so things like |
s | that I think it'd be pretty interesting |
s | to get a lot of the game |
s | get anything else you want to talk about |
s | art what is this coming off the top of |
s | my head |
s | one thing I'll mention that's a big |
s | thing that will that will be a big part |
s | of a point now is also not just more |
s | animals and more plants and biomes but |
s | also animal behaviors getting a good |
s | update put into it we're adding a lot |
s | more complexity behind the way animals |
s | behave in the game |
s | getting getting them access to a lot of |
s | their estates and animations that we've |
s | actually had for a while but just |
s | haven't plugged into plugged into them |
s | with a iron or whatever yet so yeah |
s | that's another thing that's going to be |
s | coming is going to be really nice |
s | working on animal animations are going |
s | down to play well just like things like |
s | different types of behaviors that the |
s | otter for instance is one that right now |
s | is really really simple in the released |
s | build but what could be getting a lot of |
s | updates like it'll be able to crawl and |
s | land and flow that's back and we'll have |
s | activities like diving for food we're |
s | going to be adding states like that that |
s | are individualized to each animal so |
s | that you can really you know start to |
s | see more of the behaviors you would |
s | expect when you're looking at different |
s | species and that's something that can |
s | really be just continually improved upon |
s | over time give the creatures a lot more |
s | life and not about their animal |
s | interactions with the player well I mean |
s | there's not I think hunting is getting |
s | some updates as well he was also working |
s | on improving different things that |
s | happen when you want to think into one |
s | of the states for example is like an |
s | alerted state so that you know when |
s | you're sneaking up on something once it |
s | sees you will get go into an alerted |
s | state and then run so improving those |
s | and their timing so that hunting becomes |
s | you know more interesting and realistic |
s | it's as part of it as well for sure cool |
s | let's wrap it up and call the stream |
s | through today excited for the 7a release |
s | and lots more to come |
s | so send us your feedback and suggestions |
s | and we'll see in the game |
