s | hello everyone and welcome to another |
---|---|
s | dream here from strange Loop games |
s | um unfortunately and I do kind of start |
s | at apologizing a little bit for the last |
s | week's stream kind of went |
s | away a little bit we were planning on |
s | doing some Avatar stuff |
s | um that'll have to wait |
s | [Music] |
s | update more on that |
s | one two |
s | Discord or social media |
s | um but yeah so for this Friday |
s | that we're here again we have Toby as |
s | you've seen a couple of times |
s | hello and we have prevator which is our |
s | admin from a one of the community |
s | servers that is part of the the our |
s | little program here with allowing people |
s | to go off their servers and their |
s | Concepts and go over |
s | some nice builds their players have done |
s | and talk about how they solve the |
s | government and the Civics and economy |
s | and all of the different topics and |
s | aspects that Eco involve |
s | um so yeah good you can introduce |
s | yourself a little bit and |
s | and I kick us off here |
s | uh yeah well as John's did say I'm |
s | pravato I'm as you can probably tell by |
s | my accent I'm Dutch and I've been |
s | hosting a server since November of 2018 |
s | basically because of someone who invited |
s | me from Minecraft he was like oh hey you |
s | need to play this game it's the next big |
s | thing and I think you'll like it that |
s | was actually in uh well for any small |
s | scale server |
s | that's where I was a farmer at first and |
s | yeah unfortunately the host was a little |
s | unreliable at the time |
s | and from there I did my best to get that |
s | map and continue on from that and from |
s | there I was well just basically hosting |
s | for a few people and over time they they |
s | joins some of course left as those |
s | things go and |
s | yeah now that |
s | we're actually in our 20th or 21 |
s | um |
s | around actually and we've grown a lot |
s | with |
s | yeah I had a lot of people uh join us |
s | this time as well we actually had Around |
s | the Clock activity with some Australians |
s | joining us and uh yeah that was great |
s | fun and yeah I'm really grateful for the |
s | opportunity to be showcasing us |
s | in this round and I hope you enjoy and |
s | yeah let's have some yeah some good uh |
s | stuff going on here |
s | yeah we're very excited to go off our |
s | communities |
s | kind of |
s | um involvement and and the dedication |
s | that a lot of players have |
s | and for anyone that you want to also |
s | participate and do the similar kind of |
s | thing where we go through your server |
s | and show off |
s | a bit of what you've been doing and |
s | your your solutions to the different |
s | difficulties that you may encounter Nico |
s | just hit Dennis up on Discord or send |
s | the mail |
s | and we can probably work something out |
s | and with that I think we we can go |
s | right ahead and transition over into uh |
s | into the gameplay screen here |
s | [Music] |
s | did you have a you want to take us out |
s | on the road or |
s | uh yeah I do have a |
s | um a route I came up with which is |
s | basically just some big loop but uh yeah |
s | well what I do want to uh first state as |
s | you can probably see through the news |
s | there were two players who were doing |
s | the last few days |
s | which were instrumental in actually |
s | making sure that this was actually ready |
s | for um for the stream and now this uh |
s | sand Stark and also uh holy wall |
s | um that's one of the two was |
s | um well will be visiting shortly but uh |
s | through his ashlar builds and well hold |
s | the wall made the electronics for the |
s | lasers and also uh yeah the lights and |
s | the power so uh yeah through their |
s | efforts um the last few days that's how |
s | we actually got to this point so thank |
s | you for those two and uh yeah let's uh |
s | let's go |
s | install this is actually the spawn Plaza |
s | which will be visiting when the meteor |
s | gets shut down I modeled that after the |
s | Lighthouse of Alexandria which |
s | doesn't really exist anymore in real |
s | life but there are historical references |
s | which showcase how it's probably uh has |
s | looked |
s | and I've tried to recreate that a little |
s | bit through the use of ashlar sandstone |
s | that's impressive |
s | it's awesome |
s | and it's basically Ashley with a big use |
s | of the flat roof to uh or make a bit of |
s | window sills and the granite is the |
s | windows |
s | yeah there's a lot of a lot of clever |
s | use of block forms to apply them in |
s | different places that you weren't ex you |
s | wouldn't be expecting to use them to |
s | kind of give you the those shapes and |
s | and |
s | the designs that |
s | looking for |
s | yeah that's actually what I try to teach |
s | the players not to play on on here as |
s | well like |
s | um well usually it's it's a roof but you |
s | can always just use them in different |
s | ways like if you think that some form |
s | actually works better in a different way |
s | than I do encourage people to just |
s | experiment with them and uh yeah then |
s | you get this sort of stuff where you can |
s | just use depth like for the regular |
s | walls the uh on the flat roof right here |
s | well this flash roof this is a full wall |
s | and this is um just to create a little |
s | bit of depth and yeah just create a |
s | little bit more interesting shapes |
s | rather than |
s | yeah just flat cubes |
s | yeah the from there it's actually a |
s | um the bank which is also |
s | something one of our other Portuguese |
s | members partially suggested the other |
s | part was Suzuki which you are seeing |
s | moving around here as well |
s | which is also one of the other topics I |
s | would like to be talking about |
s | because like every server and just |
s | adopting a currency doesn't go without |
s | its problems of course |
s | and well we too had our issues |
s | because normally we had a |
s | predetermined currency we would just |
s | place down a box with a mint in Treasury |
s | and well just basically mint some |
s | currency and have all the processors |
s | just well proliferate all the money from |
s | there |
s | which well we actually did around give |
s | or take 20 rounds but for this round I'm |
s | well quite frankly I just didn't want to |
s | extensively set up all everything |
s | beforehand because well it usually takes |
s | a few hours just to set everything up |
s | and yeah like well why not just change |
s | things up a lot and uh |
s | yeah basically we just had a different |
s | starting point with a blank canvas and |
s | yeah we had a border system from the |
s | beginning which yeah |
s | now of course doesn't really uh allow |
s | for a lot of trades in the beginning was |
s | yeah well it's also um dependent on the |
s | demand of people actually using the |
s | credits so if I was like I'm I'm a |
s | carpenter and if I were to be able to |
s | use mystery Goods then I would I don't |
s | need to mine or I would actually need to |
s | well provide other stuff which the Mason |
s | would actually need |
s | which wasn't always a lot of wooden |
s | stuff which well of course creates a lot |
s | of bottlenecks |
s | until we adopted the mint |
s | and from the mint we well basically has |
s | our current system which we had for the |
s | last 20 rounds or so |
s | and there were also people who didn't |
s | quite want to do that |
s | which unfortunately that creates some |
s | issues |
s | but |
s | yeah ultimately we did get some mods |
s | going which helped a lot in establishing |
s | a Baseline |
s | and from there the other people who |
s | would just be able to um I'll adopt from |
s | there |
s | and uh yeah from there it was uh pretty |
s | smooth |
s | you know speaking about I'm gonna add a |
s | little bit of a text on top of just |
s | clarify that the server is not running |
s | completely vanilla and they it does |
s | contain a bit of a few mod blocks here |
s | and there that are |
s | not really standard |
s | um just to people don't get about |
s | them seeing things that |
s | they're not seeing locally on their |
s | servers |
s | adding that disclaimer up top |
s | yeah I mean like the the colored |
s | concrete you see in the background of |
s | the Capitol building and that's modded |
s | um |
s | for instance and I'm sure there will be |
s | more |
s | but that's the the most obvious one |
s | yeah so |
s | yeah I saw some some Human Arc ways and |
s | some other things that are not |
s | completely yeah you know we got our |
s | or lead artist here that may take some |
s | inspiration from some of them just and |
s | the repertoire of yeah the white Cascade |
s | of blocks |
s | it's definitely something we're gonna |
s | look at |
s | um |
s | after 10 comes out at some point |
s | but yeah colored blocks look look |
s | amazing as well like |
s | we definitely need to get something |
s | something happening with that as well |
s | yeah and then there's actually the fish |
s | tank which is inspired by a Canadian |
s | built as I recall is actually something |
s | uh Satsuki came up with |
s | which uh well basically in previous |
s | rounds we had one big Palace on Mega |
s | project actually |
s | but I felt like there was pretty much |
s | just me dictating like this is what |
s | we're gonna do and yeah it didn't really |
s | sit well with me that |
s | um it didn't really have a lot of |
s | community involvement that way so this |
s | time we actually uh well opened up the |
s | um built process to um to people and |
s | well basically you said well what sort |
s | of building would you like to see what |
s | sort of building |
s | um do you drive by every day what sort |
s | of building do you think is actually |
s | representing your country |
s | um well for instance which is also part |
s | of wow the uh that Tower came to be |
s | hmm |
s | oh wow yeah that's basically how um we |
s | actually uh actively try to incorporate |
s | uh Community feedback into our rounds |
s | which is also why we had a more freeform |
s | route this time because normally we had |
s | a straight grids instead of just a |
s | well instead of a map like this |
s | um yeah it's a little bit of a hotspotch |
s | of stuff here and there |
s | and it's definitely not a straight grid |
s | like you would see in uh in American |
s | cities now it's a little bit more like a |
s | European city and uh |
s | yeah it's a little bit more organic |
s | which is also why our current round is |
s | called the living City because I do |
s | think that a city is more than just a |
s | collection of buildings it also has well |
s | recreational facilities stuff we'll see |
s | in the next update with museums and that |
s | sort of stuff the cultural aspect I do |
s | think a city needs more than just a few |
s | buildings a few houses some workshops it |
s | needs something to feel a bit a little |
s | bit more alive in that case |
s | yeah I was actually checking out your um |
s | your website last night and I noticed |
s | you had like a road map for that sort of |
s | stuff that kind of coincides with the |
s | stuff that we're going to be releasing |
s | so it's kind of cool just seeing |
s | um like what you're planning with the |
s | release of |
s | um like the cultural uh settlement stuff |
s | and boats and everything like that so it |
s | was really nice to see |
s | you're kind of thinking ahead |
s | yeah I mean I do like to be prepared and |
s | I don't really like to improvise so uh |
s | yeah that too was a bit of a challenge |
s | uh this round |
s | but uh yeah I mean you do need to be |
s | able to try new things in order to uh to |
s | improve and work on yourself so yeah so |
s | I do embrace the the change that was |
s | necessary for that |
s | yeah and I think that's that's also part |
s | of why we're trying to expose as much |
s | configuration settings and kind of the |
s | the a lot of the utility tools and |
s | everything that we tend to connect the |
s | vanilla side and you know the old |
s | experience for players |
s | we also want to empower server |
s | administrators such as yourself to |
s | really be able to to go out and flex |
s | around with the settings and making sure |
s | that each server might be its own unique |
s | experience but also so that even the |
s | same server running different Cycles |
s | giving that kind of replayability by |
s | being able to do different types of |
s | scenarios fairly easily |
s | yet still be you know a significant |
s | enough change that all I don't want to |
s | just get back into it but from a |
s | different angle or even if it's as |
s | simple as just picking a different |
s | profession but also you know a |
s | completely different map a completed |
s | different kind of biome settlement or |
s | different resource air cities or |
s | whatever else people come up with |
s | yeah for sure I mean we do actively |
s | um |
s | yeah and of course invite people that if |
s | you like what you see and like well |
s | 10.0 will make it easier for uh well |
s | people to just do their own thing like |
s | um as you can see from this map this is |
s | actually our Australian group |
s | which work together as a collective |
s | which I'll be touching on later as well |
s | but basically because |
s | yeah usually people just work well of |
s | course we all are expected to work |
s | together in some capacity but |
s | now of course there are also groups of |
s | people who like to say well |
s | we know each other we would like to work |
s | together as a single group |
s | and that does also create its own |
s | challenges |
s | because uh well people do want to be |
s | able to actually compete with that sort |
s | of stuff |
s | and well that did expose a little bit of |
s | a bottleneck in the way we |
s | well just placed out our people because |
s | well everything is basically around this |
s | area this is actually the most of the |
s | entire world with a bit of oil here and |
s | yeah some bills here and oil fields way |
s | over here actually |
s | but as you can see there's so much empty |
s | space |
s | which if this was 10.0 then first of all |
s | the map would actually look a lot |
s | different because |
s | yeah we would actually not have close |
s | continents but would actually like more |
s | of something like Indonesia with the |
s | archipelago which which basically means |
s | that all the towns or groups of people |
s | regardless of what they want to be doing |
s | and they can just settle on their own |
s | separate islands and ultimately we do |
s | would like to create a global government |
s | of course again |
s | but uh |
s | yeah that's just something to work |
s | towards instead of just assuming that's |
s | Everyone likes to have the same laws the |
s | same Financial system just basically |
s | just create a lot more autonomy for |
s | um different groups which is well |
s | basically what we would like to invite |
s | people that if you like the idea of |
s | working with us then by all means |
s | contact us after the Stream |
s | and uh yeah actually |
s | um from here there's also all smaller |
s | builds from one of our returning players |
s | uh this is actually more of a Dwarven |
s | inspired built |
s | unfortunately he didn't really have too |
s | much time to be finishing everything he |
s | did once but usually he does make a |
s | mountain or Dwarven inspired structures |
s | basically the uh if you are a lot of the |
s | Riggs fans the sort of stuff that you |
s | would see in Moria for instance that |
s | sort of stuff is the sort of ability |
s | would be going for and I think he was |
s | actually going to next round so uh that |
s | was definitely some stuff to look |
s | forward to well in this end as well |
s | [Music] |
s | changes to the street lights and |
s | Lighting |
s | I like it when it's going into the Dusk |
s | and you can |
s | idiots of it |
s | [Music] |
s | yeah it's uh it's I think it's actually |
s | going sun down at the moment so uh yeah |
s | the lights will be a little bit more uh |
s | pronounced as the as the stream Will Go |
s | On |
s | so uh yeah I do like the the ambience |
s | that's the three lights give |
s | yeah it is nice and we're |
s | I'm looking at some changes to power |
s | requirements and just power production |
s | in general but |
s | um it's hinged a little bit on |
s | getting some new Assets in so it might |
s | not make it then so I'm not gonna make |
s | any promises |
s | um but I do want to kind of shift out |
s | because right now power in general when |
s | it comes to lights is a bit expensive |
s | um |
s | it's also a little bit too easy to |
s | generate the necessary power if you will |
s | so it's kind of a weird inverted Edge 22 |
s | where everyone kind of houses their own |
s | power generation when it really should |
s | be more of a collective requirement |
s | um rather than like everyone everyone in |
s | his aunt has has their own wind turbine |
s | on their own |
s | combustion generator just to keep stuff |
s | going |
s | and I do want that to kind of transition |
s | more into a community type project where |
s | it's a little bit more requirements to |
s | do that |
s | but at the same time you're also not |
s | gonna need as much of Machinery in |
s | comparison so like lights might use a |
s | lot less power but they might yield a |
s | bit more in terms of both like XP and |
s | general but |
s | best general effects |
s | um |
s | tweaking around that power stuff |
s | yeah that's actually uh something that |
s | will well once we get to my build I'll |
s | be able to touch upon what's we did but |
s | we did have a um well we do have |
s | um a mod which actually is like the |
s | water wheel but just for the um |
s | electrical variant actually |
s | uh which is basically our way of |
s | creating uh water power instead of |
s | having all these wind turbines which you |
s | would normally have |
s | so um that is uh well basically just |
s | communal power which everyone can use |
s | and everyone uh basically just saying |
s | contributes to |
s | yeah hydroelectric is something that we |
s | really haven't touched on which is |
s | an interesting subject and |
s | probably something that we'll we'll look |
s | into later on |
s | um I mean we do have the mechanical |
s | water wheels so we do have some you know |
s | we've got Hydro mechanical Power I guess |
s | if you will |
s | um but General hydroelectric is uh |
s | it's an interesting and also somewhat of |
s | a |
s | um environmental Gray Zone if you will |
s | in terms of how much it's impacting the |
s | environment versus how much it's offset |
s | by the fact that it's a lot more |
s | environmental friendly |
s | um |
s | because as with any power generation of |
s | any type it does have an environmental |
s | influence |
s | yeah for sure |
s | solar panels on the roof |
s | yeah we did add that to have a little |
s | bit more variety because uh yeah as you |
s | can probably tell there's a lot of |
s | consumers but very few producers in the |
s | visible range because uh yeah like in |
s | real life people generally don't really |
s | like to have all these big wind turbines |
s | in their face so we have one in the |
s | background which can barely see from |
s | here |
s | and there in the background is actually |
s | my build which has the uh a little bit |
s | less obtrusive water turbines |
s | but uh yeah I mean |
s | um |
s | dams generally do have issues with the |
s | wildlife and that sort of stuff so I can |
s | definitely see that that too of course |
s | has drawbacks |
s | but also I'm really looking forward to |
s | uh yeah basically the architectural |
s | challenges that brings because you can |
s | of course build a lot of cool stuff when |
s | you can build all these high structures |
s | and have the water just there |
s | basically just stream and that sort of |
s | stuff that's really interesting |
s | also noticing a lot of um |
s | non-standard Vehicles over here |
s | that too was part of what we did include |
s | because we do also have uh the supercars |
s | there's also uh Logistics truck in the |
s | background so uh yeah that's why I |
s | mentioned there there were definitely |
s | more mods going to be displayed at some |
s | point and uh |
s | yeah they are uh spell around the map so |
s | you know it's it's looking really |
s | impressive I'm looking forward to |
s | getting 10 out as soon as we humanly can |
s | and I I have |
s | a whole bunch of things with plants too |
s | sort of sort out and balance before |
s | that's possible and we also have some |
s | stuff with the avatars and |
s | settlements that's gonna need to go |
s | through the whole play test Cycles to |
s | get done but |
s | um |
s | I can see things like worlds where you |
s | have these huge big buildings |
s | on the horizon look really really |
s | impressive moving around I mean it looks |
s | really impressive as is right now but |
s | um you know once you kind of see them |
s | poking up on the horizon and |
s | off as far as you can see |
s | um it's gonna be super impressive |
s | yeah for sure I mean once we get up |
s | there which is actually accessible |
s | through An Elevator Shaft |
s | uh you'll be able to see a lot of the |
s | surroundings as well but like Satsuki is |
s | built is not visible currently but if |
s | this were to be 10.0 then it would be |
s | visible and you would be able to see |
s | basically the whole town from the uh |
s | from the high vantage point so um yeah |
s | that's definitely something to look |
s | forward to that's crazy |
s | easing around with some other vehicles |
s | there |
s | yeah it's a free advertisement for the |
s | mod maker |
s | yeah but I I think it's quite fun to see |
s | what people do |
s | um different mods that kind of roam |
s | around and and being shown off like this |
s | because it really shows you the power of |
s | the users and the players and and what |
s | essentially you know the only thing that |
s | limits them is their imagination |
s | um and they can do some really really |
s | cool stuff |
s | yeah I mean it's like the um the |
s | well-known plastic thingies the Legos uh |
s | I mean that's also uh just your |
s | imagination which is the limiting factor |
s | so we do try to facilitate as much as |
s | possible to help give people as much |
s | Choice as possible so that if they want |
s | to build a particular stuff then well |
s | usually it's like April can you add that |
s | um yeah sure and yeah that's basically |
s | how we add a lot of mods over time |
s | and yeah |
s | that's how we enrich the world's every |
s | cycle |
s | time and time again |
s | yeah so here we see a building in the in |
s | Black concrete or in black bricks I |
s | believe it is |
s | looking pretty |
s | it's looking pretty intimidating to be |
s | fair |
s | yeah it's uh it is and this is actually |
s | just the the surface part of his build |
s | and there's actually of the Mason uh |
s | sand Stark and yeah he too is uh ssap is |
s | telling in the background uh wait until |
s | he did see the underground because uh |
s | yeah as you can tell this is just a part |
s | of his stockpiles |
s | which is let's see four this is eight |
s | and I believe there are at least on our |
s | eight well four on top of that on top of |
s | the uh on the roof and there are another |
s | four below us |
s | so basically around 16 large lumbar |
s | stockpiles just for this Warehouse |
s | that's wild that is a lot of block space |
s | yeah yeah as you can tell it's all all |
s | getting used |
s | that is that is a significant block |
s | space |
s | and this is actually also a mod this is |
s | actually a greenhouse so that we can |
s | just creates all sorts of plants |
s | wherever you you want to instead of uh |
s | which biomes fit which plans |
s | so uh yeah like I mean this is far from |
s | a rainforest but so we can still |
s | um grow them anyway |
s | yeah it's a nice mod that one |
s | yeah there's a that one is is really |
s | technical yeah in terms of how much it's |
s | kind of manipulating and changing out in |
s | the background |
s | um just to give you that opportunity to |
s | kind of ignore the the constraints |
s | magically add a layer of |
s | unrestriction in the space of the |
s | building |
s | um and since it's the sense that you can |
s | enclose it |
s | it as that module module ability of just |
s | building it dynamically the way you want |
s | it to |
s | yeah it's actually more of an evolution |
s | of sorts you know of the uh the plant |
s | spots because that's tends to just |
s | create them in a fake version and Bonsai |
s | versions for normal trees but this |
s | actually allows you to grow them to a |
s | full size and actually just Harvest them |
s | or wherever they want to yeah |
s | you know that is pretty cool speaking of |
s | speaking of plants |
s | uh Toby do you do you have any |
s | any notion on when we might |
s | look into adding them for |
s | all the um all the new uh pottery |
s | the the small yeah |
s | also like adding adding the plants to |
s | the other yeah the devices add more |
s | vases and pots and stuff like that |
s | because the pots have got to kind of |
s | we got two of them and |
s | they're kind of boring but yeah I know I |
s | know I I saw some requests on Discord |
s | that they wanted the ability to kind of |
s | put the flowers especially |
s | um in the vases and kind of the core |
s | more with it |
s | that's definitely something that we |
s | wanted to do |
s | yeah and |
s | um new flowers for instance because |
s | usually there are just plants you see in |
s | uh |
s | in in the world itself but other than |
s | sunflowers or orchids there's not a lot |
s | of flowers you can actually put into |
s | those spots yeah and I think we can |
s | definitely definitely look into adding |
s | some more General Mist plants |
s | partially just to make the world look |
s | more alive and and look more vibrant |
s | um |
s | but also just you know people like to to |
s | decorate and |
s | having more options to decorate is not |
s | bad |
s | yeah |
s | yeah definitely |
s | can I finish avatars first no no no no |
s | no |
s | we want more flowers not bad yeah |
s | everything and we want it now yeah |
s | that's fair finishing off finishing off |
s | clothing restrictions you can have pants |
s | on your head and your shirt on your legs |
s | that's fine we just want more flowers |
s | thank you |
s | yeah and the formal clothing I mean |
s | we're politicians soon so politicians |
s | need something of a badge of office |
s | that is true yeah we we don't really |
s | have |
s | I think we have one that is like kind of |
s | kind of formal ish where but it's one of |
s | the um one of the current like starting |
s | vests that has a built-in shirt that do |
s | look a bit like this this kind of 19th |
s | century almost steampunk ish |
s | um mayor |
s | presentable thing but but you know |
s | having more clothing is definitely |
s | something that will will continue to add |
s | once we are once we're done with the |
s | base of the Avatar and all that it's |
s | implemented and working going from that |
s | to getting a lot easier yeah |
s | um |
s | which is also something that I I talked |
s | about a little bit on the modding |
s | Discord for it but |
s | I believe we will have a full set of |
s | kind of examples for clothing and how |
s | you how you mod them and Implement them |
s | um with a little bit more of a methier |
s | description and kind of instruction of |
s | you know step to step guide on |
s | how to add clothing yourself so mothers |
s | can go in and then kind of do that in a |
s | bit more |
s | instructive manner than kind of guess |
s | working their way at the moment |
s | yeah I'm excited to see what people make |
s | with that we're gonna provide a lot more |
s | information so |
s | but we're not here to talk about |
s | advertising |
s | I'll disabled |
s | the this basically you had the magic |
s | happens of the nation this is actually a |
s | lot of open space |
s | or rather open layouts with a lot of |
s | example colors of what sort of colored |
s | bricks he was able to make or is able to |
s | make but uh |
s | yeah that's that is that is actually |
s | very clever use of space Sage where I |
s | personally just tend to do like large |
s | doors in between |
s | but this is this this is causing some |
s | weird |
s | psychedelic like Carnival mirror room |
s | type of effect where all the piddlers |
s | are kind of getting you lost in |
s | transition if you're running around |
s | yeah I mean it's it's a little bit of a |
s | hack because well it creates separate |
s | rooms but also not because uh yeah it |
s | counts as a separate room but as you can |
s | see uh yeah there are no doors or well |
s | not closed off rooms anywhere yet they |
s | come the separate rooms because yeah |
s | we do have some internal restrictions |
s | that we we have for the direct block |
s | types that kind of ignores being a room |
s | um which we could potentially expand |
s | over into pillars and then kind of |
s | blocks that doesn't make sense for them |
s | to actually block off rooms but at the |
s | same time |
s | we don't really want to do that because |
s | it limits players creativity so much |
s | and it's one of those things where we |
s | kind of sacrifice it because people |
s | build really cool stuff and we want to |
s | throw it |
s | um even though it does kinda |
s | go into the whole like you know falling |
s | into between between that you know |
s | exploitive use of |
s | different block forms and then more into |
s | the whole clever use of game mechanics |
s | Racing for it where it's a little bit of |
s | a gray Zone in terms of what |
s | what is really intended for them but at |
s | the same time |
s | it's also one of those things that we |
s | kind of don't want to impede on because |
s | um it would limit players so much that |
s | they might get discouraged from building |
s | these things so we're kind of keeping |
s | our hands off approach there |
s | yeah I mean I can you can only |
s | appreciate that stuff is pretty much |
s | left to our creative interpretation |
s | because |
s | yeah I mean to restrictive tends to suck |
s | the the fun out of things a lot quite |
s | fast so uh |
s | yeah that's why I can definitely |
s | appreciate uh |
s | just having the the freedom to explore |
s | within reason of course to create stuff |
s | that uh |
s | works for the players |
s | yeah yeah this is actually in the uh |
s | aquarium it's also a sand Stark |
s | um build |
s | this huge open space is where he has his |
s | uh workshops for electronics and Glass |
s | Works and the cement which basically |
s | single handle almost single-handedly |
s | provide all the asphalt we see in our |
s | worlds today |
s | [Music] |
s | well we affectionately call him the uh |
s | the calorie monster because uh yeah he |
s | tends to take up a lot of calories |
s | across a map |
s | and once he joins the map then we know |
s | well better hope that we have enough of |
s | our |
s | vegetables and meat because it will be |
s | empty when once he gets going |
s | it is a lot of blocks dog that's for |
s | sure |
s | yeah I mean this is uh two months worth |
s | of uh digging and this is uh more of his |
s | large Lumber stockpiles it's pretty much |
s | uh yeah yeah it's my game is a little |
s | stuttery from all the stuff here yeah |
s | um on since you you said that you've |
s | been running the server basically since |
s | you know forever |
s | um almost feels like |
s | um |
s | and like how long do you usually run the |
s | Cycle Sport you run the 30 days or |
s | extended or because we do have a couple |
s | that it does like six months plus |
s | um and it's actually intermediates |
s | because we usually run for 60 days |
s | which still is the first three to four |
s | weeks is uh well the usual decking up |
s | and this second half is pretty much just |
s | doing stuff like this and actually using |
s | all the high-end stuff to build |
s | beautiful structures with which we tend |
s | to have a full month for |
s | yeah it is |
s | it is quite impressive |
s | that is that is for sure |
s | I'm just gonna say we need to get those |
s | fish animations |
s | um yeah I'm I'm choosing not to see them |
s | until we get them sorted |
s | yeah what the scene cannot be unseen |
s | oh yeah I need to change this as well oh |
s | that's on that |
s | and I mean we we did fix the Slender Fox |
s | um so that one isn't showing up anywhere |
s | fixed yeah fixed |
s | I don't think there was anything wrong |
s | with it |
s | I liked it |
s | was fine on a distance but when you |
s | weren't prepared and you walked around |
s | and you saw that that horrible monster |
s | just next to you it |
s | it could freak me out sometimes |
s | like there's something significantly |
s | wrong going on here there's some |
s | Twilight stuff |
s | yeah and I think it's probably best to |
s | uh have a little tour of what our |
s | government is like uh because there's um |
s | quite a bit more they were show as well |
s | and uh yeah I don't want to be thinking |
s | up too much of you guys time as well |
s | yeah no time time does kind of run away |
s | um definitely so uh yeah |
s | yeah like this is one of our uh well one |
s | of my Minecraft uh inspired builds I |
s | transferred over to uh El Eco style |
s | blocks |
s | and uh I like that to be able to mix |
s | them together |
s | um we use design or whatever I use the |
s | design elements from the uh from the |
s | capital as well to basically just tie |
s | them together a little bit better |
s | I don't like the use of that what is |
s | that good stuff that's it that's the |
s | curtains used on vertical right yeah |
s | we need long banners |
s | that's what we need |
s | yeah |
s | the curtains does work for it |
s | um |
s | we have some patterns |
s | yeah or painting yeah but we only have |
s | short ones like they're they're |
s | horizontal but they're you know they're |
s | not really |
s | all |
s | yeah that shouldn't be too hard |
s | wink wink nudge nudge |
s | yeah |
s | let me get everyone on blocks |
s | wall blocks more forms more everything I |
s | think I think people would be like even |
s | if we did nothing else or like four |
s | updates than just blocked forms I think |
s | people will be would be ecstatic |
s | it's just like no yeah like some some |
s | minor bug fixes and it's just blocks |
s | I'd be okay with that as well yeah it'll |
s | be fine with that |
s | no but we we have a lot of we have a lot |
s | of things planned |
s | um and a lot of things to do |
s | um and it's kind of |
s | just the starting point to |
s | do some pretty cool stuff |
s | oh yeah for sure I can't wait and a lot |
s | of my players can't wait either I'm sure |
s | it'll be uh quite a rush to be able to |
s | uh you know experience it in a very |
s | different way so yeah |
s | um there was a couple and something that |
s | keeps popping up here in chat every |
s | every now and then is there's a question |
s | for if it's built by multiple people or |
s | a single individual or like a group or |
s | section but I think it's generally |
s | spread out of all the people on the |
s | server doing their own thing |
s | connection |
s | yeah it's it's a mixture like uh this uh |
s | this area which will be visiting soon is |
s | uh was built by a group uh this was |
s | built by me uh this is one person |
s | uh this is |
s | two to three persons and this was uh me |
s | and sand Stark this uh all the |
s | government structure so that's it it |
s | depends but generally speaking people |
s | just do their own stuff and uh well |
s | others just want to uh also help bring |
s | the city alive a little bit more and |
s | then they just collaborate and uh well |
s | built uh alongside me because I do like |
s | to build a lot and yeah others do too so |
s | you've also got like a a few guides on |
s | your website for um |
s | like building tips and that sort of |
s | thing |
s | yeah yeah I do have like two builds I |
s | think but I'm |
s | I do want to create some more because uh |
s | once 10.0 is uh actually released I |
s | would like to create some more thematic |
s | builds but would I already hinted at |
s | with the Indonesian archipelago I would |
s | actually want to create something akin |
s | to Venice with the the Doge's Palace the |
s | Arsenal and that sort of stuff and yeah |
s | it would definitely help if well people |
s | would |
s | know how to build like a Renaissance or |
s | new classical buildings which would |
s | actually fit in the in a city like that |
s | yeah that's why I will be posting more |
s | guides and in the future up to 10.0 |
s | yeah we can we can you can have your |
s | town and set up |
s | the building code in it and just |
s | about have an audition on people |
s | immigrating to it where they they need |
s | to be able to build a small little Hut |
s | in in the steam you're looking for to be |
s | able to join it |
s | yeah I mean we had a two towns actually |
s | in 9.0 where one was pretty much similar |
s | to this and the other was almost |
s | entirely Asian architecture inspired and |
s | that's definitely that appeal a great |
s | deal to be able to see the correct |
s | characteristics of all the Asian |
s | architecture and I was like yeah I do |
s | like that |
s | so how is how is currency and kind of |
s | like the the trade routes and everything |
s | late came because I know |
s | like the economic attempt to to kind of |
s | peek out at around two three weeks |
s | and about |
s | um |
s | as you get a bit of a lower player |
s | an account and |
s | um either people kind of accumulate too |
s | much wealth or there's not enough |
s | things to kind of do where government |
s | tends to be one of the rotating features |
s | to make sure that coin kind of gets |
s | dispersed in between players |
s | um |
s | anything in particular that you've done |
s | towards that |
s | kind of Regulation or taxation or |
s | no and I re reclaim currency versus |
s | um handing it out or providing it |
s | through different kinds of |
s | Municipal stuff or |
s | uh yeah we actually do have a separate |
s | loss for that which is why I've gone |
s | ahead and |
s | yeah enters the uh the capital building |
s | and uh |
s | I'll be um |
s | checking the loss if I can |
s | actually enter them I think I might |
s | actually need to wait for the elevator |
s | but let's try this |
s | yeah I need to try that first |
s | yeah I was trying to a different thing |
s | and yeah |
s | I should have just called for the |
s | elevator and uh that would have been a |
s | lot more convenient |
s | nah |
s | but uh yeah because of how compact this |
s | build is I do need to close this door to |
s | be able for the elevator to come down |
s | all the way |
s | let's see if it's we open up the other |
s | one |
s | it got stuck on the door on top I think |
s | yeah I actually uh didn't need to open |
s | it I think if you if you close the first |
s | door |
s | and then open the second door instead |
s | you might be able to get over there |
s | yeah it should be good now yeah it's |
s | coming |
s | we open up the second door it popped |
s | towards you shouldn't this |
s | thing that's kind of yeah there we go |
s | little jump |
s | it's um a little finicky sometimes but |
s | yeah it does work |
s | eventually |
s | nope you can't come |
s | yeah there's uh for |
s | um |
s | actually in each corner is a different |
s | elevator so she isn't too locked out for |
s | uh for anything and that's of course the |
s | levels though |
s | now let's see if this is the right one |
s | notice the statistics that's not the |
s | right one |
s | yeah so this is actually the uh the main |
s | Hub of our |
s | um legislative branch this is actually |
s | one of the Prime reasons why people can |
s | actually earn money regardless of |
s | whether or not they are |
s | growing profession is actually earning |
s | enough money because as you can see |
s | um every time people want to claim stuff |
s | in within the roads then of course we |
s | don't want that so |
s | now we actively prevent that but this is |
s | actually one of the sections where |
s | whenever you place a road or asphalt or |
s | a stone ramp then you basically just get |
s | a paid |
s | um just over the market rate plus labor |
s | because of course you do expand calories |
s | when placing them or digging stuff or |
s | actively replacing Old Stone roads for |
s | asphalt |
s | so this is where |
s | it is a good way to earn money |
s | regardless of whether or not your stuff |
s | gets sold |
s | and through them well we also have a |
s | progressive wealth lacks like if people |
s | get too much money or somehow get a lot |
s | of money from say the lasers or the |
s | community lab because that's usually |
s | something that we can see is a huge sum |
s | that you get at once |
s | and we do like to have money circulating |
s | all the time |
s | which is why we |
s | try to collect the tax |
s | so that the treasury doesn't empty |
s | because we did have |
s | at some point an empty treasury because |
s | we only had this road law and well much |
s | like a wallet in real life |
s | if you only spend and you don't get any |
s | money back and don't have a salary or |
s | benefits or whatever then your treasury |
s | is anti and you cannot pay anymore |
s | so in order for the government to have |
s | their own wallet and also have a healthy |
s | way of both spending and gaining money |
s | and this is what we came up with which |
s | is basically |
s | well |
s | a ballpark estimate of when you get a |
s | lot of this sort of money then you get |
s | this sort of tax per day |
s | and well it's probably a lot of a lot |
s | higher numbers than people are used to |
s | because we are actually modeling our |
s | money according to the um |
s | so that's why you see a lot higher |
s | denominations than well sort of like a |
s | Euro or dollar or something like that |
s | yeah and then but the economy and on its |
s | kind of whole concept is interesting |
s | because as long as the factors are equal |
s | it doesn't really matter what you set |
s | the actual value to because the value is |
s | going to be the same |
s | so if you have stone for you know one |
s | dollar or if you have stone for ten |
s | dollars as long as the equivalent |
s | products are scaled accordingly in the |
s | similar fashion |
s | that stone is valued at the same |
s | which is a very interesting concept when |
s | it comes to economy in general |
s | um |
s | and and this is also something that is |
s | interesting and very intriguing for us |
s | to see when it comes to different |
s | servers because I do I do kind of hop |
s | around a little bit every now and then |
s | between different servers to kind of see |
s | what people's economies around are |
s | looking at and kind of Market flows and |
s | different materials availability on |
s | servers |
s | but also you know what they denominate |
s | their currencies at |
s | what they value things for |
s | which is all really really fun to see |
s | all the crazy things people come up with |
s | in terms of the economy and especially |
s | with the laws impacting on it |
s | yeah I mean we did use well usually we |
s | just had a manual calculation for |
s | pricing but yeah that was quite quite |
s | hard to actually Implement and for all |
s | the new people who joined us they were |
s | like well we cannot work with this uh we |
s | want our own system |
s | and we did have that for a while and uh |
s | until we had a mod called trade |
s | assistant |
s | which basically just automates the |
s | calculations we usually did through by |
s | hand or through through Excel which some |
s | people were very interested in |
s | because they usually just enter the |
s | formula into Excel and calculate it from |
s | there or equal calc for instance that's |
s | also a way some people have used it |
s | but uh well through |
s | um trade assistant you basically just |
s | set the price you want to buy stuff for |
s | you set up what sort of stuff you |
s | actually want to sell you set up what |
s | sort of margin you want to use on your |
s | products and from there you just tell |
s | the program to run and it will |
s | automatically calculate based on the |
s | cost of materials and labor and the |
s | profit margin what the price should be |
s | and that will create a healthy way of |
s | creating profit without having stuff |
s | like 200 logs for one unlock or |
s | something |
s | by a slice like that so you can actually |
s | see a certain proportion where you also |
s | get the sense that you aren't working |
s | for someone else but also just getting |
s | value for your own labor instead |
s | yeah and I think a very useful mode yeah |
s | there's a lot of a lot of nifty tools I |
s | mean I'm I I would be first one in line |
s | to admit that I usually run everything |
s | in Excel but then again I work with |
s | Excel and do everything else in Excel so |
s | yeah it just kind of makes sense for me |
s | um |
s | but it is |
s | it is tricky |
s | um without something like that |
s | especially for |
s | you know your average user that don't |
s | really |
s | want to spend too much time thinking |
s | about maybe the economy side of it and |
s | just like to you know they just like to |
s | hop in and do the mining and do some |
s | hunting whatnot and sell some stuff and |
s | be able to kind of afford and just |
s | upgrade their house |
s | um going into the whole intricate depths |
s | of how much cost goes into making like a |
s | steam truck maybe something that they're |
s | not completely either comfortable with |
s | digging into or |
s | they just don't feel like it's worth |
s | their time to do and having tools like |
s | that and it evens the playing field if |
s | you will a little bit |
s | um |
s | it's definitely cool to see people I |
s | know |
s | make those happen and be able to |
s | integrate them in in very different ways |
s | some some I've seen on websites some are |
s | using the web plugin so you just pop |
s | into like the the government interface |
s | and access it on on the server locally |
s | um |
s | yeah it's once again just shows how |
s | powerful the modding system is for it |
s | uh yeah for sure |
s | um while looking at the time I think we |
s | need to change the um |
s | schedule a little bit because uh yeah |
s | we're already running a close to an hour |
s | and uh before we get uh yelled at by |
s | Dennis |
s | um we might actually need to uh get to |
s | the meteor and we can recover the a few |
s | other things after that because |
s | otherwise we'll be sending here all |
s | nights and I'm not quite sure if people |
s | uh wants to be |
s | hearing me talk all the time so |
s | not sure if that's something you can you |
s | guys um yeah as well or yeah just go for |
s | it |
s | um I think it might be might be good I |
s | know our previous one of these took went |
s | on for almost two hours |
s | um and I believe that |
s | it while while you know we could |
s | probably have spent another three hours |
s | on it and just going over amazing bills |
s | and just keep talking with with their |
s | Community |
s | um I I do think that we need to uh you |
s | know speed things up a little bit |
s | keep people in the motion |
s | um yeah while we're while we're on our |
s | way there |
s | um |
s | you |
s | have different groups and you have solo |
s | players and and |
s | stuff like that in the enroll and I'm |
s | betting that you also run into the |
s | pretty common denominator of you know |
s | groups kind of having that vertical |
s | scalability or the intestive amount of |
s | odds available to them versus someone |
s | that doesn't |
s | um and so on was there anything in |
s | particular that you did in terms of like |
s | property ownership or taxation for |
s | skills or |
s | kind of breaking into that group versus |
s | solo dynamic |
s | uh well actually we didn't really do a |
s | lot of well things to curtail at this |
s | round because well we were a little bit |
s | new to um well having a 24 7 activity a |
s | new group just joining and all that |
s | stuff so we didn't really |
s | um anticipate a lot of stuff which we |
s | usually would have but uh well what we |
s | do plan is to actively limit the amount |
s | of professions each person can |
s | take up when they are working together |
s | like normally you would get a few |
s | professions per player like two or three |
s | and you would be able to work together |
s | with one older person and that's |
s | basically the hard limits that we would |
s | want for our Capital City to have so if |
s | you were to be an engineer you could |
s | split three and three or a baking and |
s | cooking that sort of stuff that's |
s | basically what we would want but if for |
s | instance a group of seven like we are |
s | what what I'm looking at right now uh |
s | yeah that's basically pushed away a lot |
s | of demand for single players and while |
s | we don't really want that for our next |
s | runs |
s | which is why we are strictly adhering to |
s | uh yeah making sure that solo players |
s | can bands together in the same town |
s | and just making sure that they can |
s | compete whenever they join |
s | probably put on a fair warning here that |
s | will be blowing up the meat here so if |
s | anyone is |
s | not wanting to see that |
s | together |
s | probably tune out |
s | um as it's a little bit of a spoiler but |
s | I don't want to see it |
s | I like the media I think it should stay |
s | where it is |
s | yeah I mean let's see if it's actually |
s | in range because it tends to hide during |
s | the moments when you don't want to |
s | yeah uh yeah like I uh yeah I expected |
s | it's not in the targeting window all |
s | right it'll show up here in a minute |
s | yeah and I mean one other thing that we |
s | do wants to implement more |
s | uh |
s | and and um in future rounds especially |
s | but which we have applied in previous |
s | rounds as well as an apprenticeship |
s | program where a new player would be |
s | partnered up with one of our veterans |
s | um someone who can teach the new player |
s | the ropes which also means that |
s | regardless of when you join in in the |
s | server uh whether or not that's in the |
s | first day the first week after a month |
s | you can still partner up with a veteran |
s | player and well basically we try to |
s | alleviate the um the notion that if you |
s | don't join within a few first few days |
s | then you're out of luck and your best |
s | joining a different server |
s | which we don't really like and we try |
s | our best to make sure that yeah people |
s | are included regardless of when you |
s | actually join |
s | yeah I've seen I've seen a couple of |
s | people that have voiced concerns with |
s | you know asking when servers are being |
s | reset because they don't want to join |
s | late or they feel irrelevant when if |
s | they don't come in on day one day two |
s | sort of thing I'm kind of in the |
s | opposite camp |
s | I kind of enjoy coming in in like day |
s | four or five like just cruising in there |
s | um just picking like hunting or |
s | something that just allows me to gather |
s | raw materials and then immediately have |
s | Market access to like iron tools and a |
s | steam track that fits me quite perfectly |
s | um yeah for sure I mean it does have I |
s | mean it does have its perks to be |
s | joining late because uh well usually |
s | after a few days there's currency so you |
s | can actually trade without having to |
s | look at what people might actually be |
s | needing because uh well when your |
s | profession doesn't overlap with the |
s | person you want to buy from yeah in the |
s | first few days that's a problem when |
s | there's a common currency a common |
s | pricing system well you don't have that |
s | problem anymore and you can just buy |
s | stuff what you need we also just provide |
s | money to start with which you don't have |
s | at the start |
s | and of course you can uh |
s | much more easily get something like a |
s | steam truck because then we have new |
s | modules which will drastically reduce |
s | the price for new guys Which is far less |
s | than the early adoption VR will you join |
s | us you usually have |
s | yeah modules are still something that's |
s | probably gonna end up on the on the |
s | shopping block eventually for our rework |
s | but |
s | um because I'm not I'm I like the idea |
s | behind them but I'm not entirely |
s | liking our current implementation of |
s | them |
s | um they were kind of a very drastic |
s | change |
s | um and one of the big concerns of |
s | um that I see from from my end at least |
s | is the kind of the cost investment for a |
s | player that's starting out on a |
s | profession |
s | to be able to kind of compete in |
s | previously that was mainly to limited to |
s | time and kind of your skill gain with |
s | the old skill tree and the bonuses were |
s | kind of like directly tied to your |
s | profession skill |
s | um where now they're a craftable |
s | entity that you need to pay for to be |
s | able to kind of compete on the same |
s | level of the economy market |
s | um |
s | but it's right now they're kind of in |
s | the opposite spectrum and I do want to |
s | kind of end up somewhere in between |
s | we have the lasers and once again you |
s | know if |
s | if you don't want to see the laser pew |
s | pew boom firework |
s | [Music] |
s | um |
s | advice to tune out otherwise |
s | um enjoy the laser show |
s | yeah I'll just do a countdown from 10 |
s | and then just press activate button |
s | because it tends to have a window of |
s | activation |
s | no um then |
s | 9 8 |
s | 7. six five four |
s | three |
s | two |
s | one and activate |
s | now let's go for a good view |
s | is that just one |
s | three fireworks for everyone |
s | I think it was uh multiple stacked there |
s | in the same building but they could kind |
s | of overlapped so you didn't see them |
s | right |
s | um and |
s | on the offset now that we have fireworks |
s | and |
s | fancy things going on in the background |
s | is there anything in particular like get |
s | back on improvements that would help |
s | um either management or |
s | tools to be able to create Concepts |
s | I know |
s | a port from our side |
s | um |
s | going forward I guess it's kind of |
s | tricky to say since we have Tannen and |
s | it's so much so much of a change so it |
s | might be a tricky thing to kind of come |
s | up with anything but |
s | um |
s | I think it's it's more of an open |
s | question to everyone and you know invite |
s | you to come over into Discord and |
s | op ideas or if there's anything in |
s | particular that |
s | um you guys want to see in terms of like |
s | utility Tools in particular |
s | um |
s | and just come over and discuss and talk |
s | about it |
s | um |
s | we might we we try to cater off as much |
s | as possible and and just make sure that |
s | everyone has what they need |
s | um to get |
s | be able to create such a gaming |
s | experience that they like out of eco |
s | um |
s | yeah |
s | well I mean just off the top of my head |
s | I |
s | don't don't really know of things that |
s | would help go and live because I still |
s | need to |
s | actively start up the play test for 10.0 |
s | so then I'll be able to tell well what |
s | sort of stuff I'll actually need or |
s | would like to uh to see improved I mean |
s | yeah |
s | that's that's for sure |
s | yeah I mean the all the first thing that |
s | did come to mind was the amount of claim |
s | papers we got and I do would like that's |
s | to either be configurable or something |
s | like things you can craft for instance |
s | like something requiring multiple people |
s | to get because uh well I mean if you can |
s | see how big these sort of claims are |
s | um I think the number was 15 when uh |
s | when it was announced and yeah I mean |
s | this ball alone is 80 plots yeah if you |
s | go by the gardens |
s | and that's another 128 plots that's over |
s | 200 plots and if you go by 15 per person |
s | yeah you can see how many people you |
s | need just to be able to claim this one |
s | build yeah I would definitely want to |
s | see something configurable so that I |
s | wrote skills by the amount of tiering |
s | for instance like the towns get a |
s | certain amount cities got a bigger |
s | amount federations got an even bigger |
s | one something like that or just uh |
s | configurable like uh having the ability |
s | to if you want to create a small |
s | Homeland then you you say okay well |
s | I only want a small village on the scene |
s | that's enough for me others would like |
s | like to say hey I want to create a big |
s | Capital but I want to be able to earn |
s | more of my papers per |
s | for citizen that joints so I would like |
s | some fine-grained |
s | um |
s | you've got plenty plenty of |
s | customizability when it comes to that |
s | probably sneak in that it'll work kind |
s | of in that regard |
s | as papers are generated based on |
s | citizens and they apply in in different |
s | tiers so a town gets a certain amount of |
s | paper per citizen |
s | and then the more citizens to join the |
s | more paper the town is going to get and |
s | then if the town bands together the |
s | country that country is going to get |
s | papers for each citizen that is included |
s | in its up here town |
s | but I'll go over that on a more in-depth |
s | like property and ownership |
s | stream for settlements as we go along |
s | I'll keep doing the streams during our |
s | play test as well |
s | um |
s | so there's plenty of plenty more |
s | information as well as kind of |
s | me doing streams are going to be broken |
s | down into the briefings of different |
s | functionalities and in depth of the |
s | mechanics just to be able to allow |
s | people to reference the videos directly |
s | or if there's something if there is a |
s | topic that people really want to see |
s | being on these streams please do reach |
s | out as well |
s | um |
s | you know going in in depth of explaining |
s | how laws works or how to create a |
s | certain amount of |
s | restrictions of different types or or |
s | whatever people come up with where |
s | um I'm a go through video tutorial if |
s | you will |
s | might that be helpful |
s | and on that on that note we also have |
s | the whole law help slash law examples |
s | over on Discord |
s | which allows players to kind of bounce |
s | back and forth with ideas for loss and |
s | they're usually really helpful with |
s | cooking up |
s | or trying to debug why your law is not |
s | doing the way you know going the way you |
s | want it to |
s | uh yeah well one thing that did pop my |
s | mind just now uh perhaps an option to |
s | either have a linear scaling or an |
s | exponential scaling for lands papers so |
s | that people who wants to have linear |
s | scaling can have that and people who |
s | want to have more papers as their tier |
s | go up and configure that as well perhaps |
s | that's an option to consider that's an |
s | interesting idea um at the moment it's |
s | hard set to in the configs for each you |
s | know just a |
s | uh denominator for each each tier |
s | settlement |
s | um but yeah I'll go over all of that in |
s | depth in the Stream |
s | yeah |
s | looking pretty |
s | yeah it looks like my game froze a |
s | little bit there yeah |
s | it's uh just showing off satsuki's build |
s | because otherwise I'm pretty sure I'll |
s | be yelled at by her as well |
s | but uh yeah as you can see this is the |
s | the main architect in the architectural |
s | and Asian architectural style |
s | wow yeah those builds are |
s | that's epic yeah |
s | yeah Satsuki ends the build really |
s | really elaborate and be nice buildings |
s | we really need to get you some paper |
s | building materials |
s | it's on the cads |
s | yeah and maybe also equalizing the |
s | amount of forms Composites gets in |
s | comparison to say ashlar because uh yeah |
s | Composites sometimes feel a little uh |
s | yeah half instead of The Full Experience |
s | Ash law brings relatively anyways |
s | yeah that's definitely something we want |
s | to do like it kind of feels like |
s | um each block set has kind of been a bit |
s | of a experiment and |
s | um like at that time like what's |
s | possible |
s | um but now we kind of want to go back |
s | and unify a lot more of that stuff |
s | and add some new forms as well |
s | yeah I mean I do like the the Greek |
s | style that the ashlar tends to bring to |
s | the table |
s | yeah yeah I think I think the block sets |
s | in general has been |
s | um you know looking back over over kind |
s | of the the development and the um |
s | a growth of eco |
s | [Music] |
s | as you kind of go along in the |
s | progression and as things have been |
s | added they've become more elaborate more |
s | polished |
s | and the quality has just been upgraded |
s | and improved with each each iteration of |
s | the new type of blocks |
s | um so the human blocks for instance have |
s | been you know their their really really |
s | really old |
s | um |
s | and while they've only been kind of |
s | touched up to to fit into the themeology |
s | of the rest of it |
s | um |
s | they are also part of the the oldest |
s | blocks that we have and something that |
s | we do want to kind of expand on |
s | and the dock set is a good expand a good |
s | example of that where human blocks is |
s | finally getting a couple block forms |
s | um |
s | a couple and they're like tripling in |
s | the amount of blocks that the human has |
s | um oh yeah I can see that the UI will |
s | have problems with that because uh yeah |
s | let's for an example |
s | um if you can see the amount of uh this |
s | is a mod and this is also a mod so yeah |
s | the UI has a little uh lack of space at |
s | the moment well we'll have to scale it |
s | to also take up the right side of the |
s | screen |
s | [Laughter] |
s | we did have some some Creative Solutions |
s | to how we want to improve that UI but |
s | um |
s | it's also going to be one of those |
s | things that we have it on the board and |
s | plan for it but it's not something that |
s | we're working on at the moment since we |
s | kind of want to get yeah we want to get |
s | update 10 out of the door |
s | um and then we'll probably come back and |
s | go over some of the things that are |
s | coming |
s | I mean you can only do so much at the |
s | same time so yeah unfortunately |
s | resources are limited and time I there's |
s | only 24 hours in a day |
s | um unfortunately unfortunately so |
s | there's only so much that you can do per |
s | person |
s | um |
s | but we got a lot more planned then and |
s | it everyone on the team is super excited |
s | too |
s | keep on hammering and keep on improving |
s | stuff after 10. |
s | I'm not say good to you |
s | we got a lot of good feedback from the |
s | um like when I showed off the doc blocks |
s | the first time we had like |
s | uh through the survey and also just |
s | through Discord about kind of what |
s | people want from block so it's probably |
s | once we get to the stage where we can |
s | work on that as a demon |
s | um we'll have a look at like the UI as |
s | well as the |
s | the forms that are included |
s | that'll be fun yeah and I think |
s | probably round up with that and in |
s | that you know if you have suggestions |
s | tips or you know just want to see |
s | different things just you know make |
s | yourself heard and give us a shout over |
s | on the on Discord in the end |
s | um we also have the suggestion board on |
s | on our other GitHub repository but |
s | you if you just |
s | give some push and |
s | drop some some notifications and just |
s | some ideas over on either in Dev hangout |
s | or you know wherever you're gathing |
s | around |
s | um we usually see it even if even if we |
s | might not respond to everything and I |
s | think that's also important like you |
s | know just because no one is directly |
s | responding to your message or |
s | um you know you're not seeing a |
s | confirmation right away |
s | most of the time we still see it it gets |
s | either mental note or someone writes it |
s | up in |
s | in an idea board so |
s | it the animal doesn't get lost it might |
s | not be worked on at the time it might |
s | not pop out in the way you thought it |
s | might be |
s | um |
s | but we always appreciate all the ideas |
s | people are coming with and most of the |
s | time they're really really good ideas |
s | and |
s | um |
s | people write out |
s | quite elaborate and kind of thought out |
s | like whole concept for some of them |
s | um |
s | and we always appreciate this |
s | yeah of course and uh yeah I meanwhile |
s | this is not my build a long house |
s | instead of the usual classic uh stuff I |
s | usually built I wanted to do something |
s | uh I'll focused on around my Carpenter |
s | professions so that's why I went with |
s | something entirely different for me |
s | [Music] |
s | that's cool yeah |
s | yeah I had a bit of a poke around in |
s | that one before as well so |
s | a nice looking building |
s | yeah it's it's this server is up now |
s | right or is this |
s | well I mean it's it was on day 58 and we |
s | ended well pretty much just froze it at |
s | uh around a month ago |
s | by late March because we also want to be |
s | conducting a play test at some point but |
s | yeah we need to discuss this in the |
s | community when we want to start that |
s | because we want to make sure that well |
s | well we were warned of course how |
s | playable it will be and uh |
s | um the people on our server have been |
s | instructed about how playable it will be |
s | and uh well how to uh conduct of course |
s | but uh well when we start that that's uh |
s | you know probably in after the weekend |
s | or so I'm not sure yet |
s | yeah I think it's important to drive |
s | home that |
s | the play test is gonna be very rough |
s | as the amount of work that has gone into |
s | 10 is |
s | to proceeding nine by quite a |
s | substantial amount it's probably like |
s | twice or three times the update |
s | um and |
s | it's |
s | um |
s | we are mainly initially looking for |
s | feedback on things like mechanics and |
s | um how to kind of go through step by |
s | step on the government systems and the |
s | new Civics and making sure that that all |
s | works |
s | um but you know out of out of like a |
s | usability state |
s | um from like are you coming into a town |
s | um how the experience is to transition |
s | from a town to a nation and and all of |
s | the intertwining factors |
s | um it has a brand new interaction system |
s | under the hood so there's there's a lot |
s | of mechanically upgrades to it that you |
s | might not see |
s | um but it is a crazy sized update and |
s | the play test for it is |
s | um it's not your average like minor |
s | update small changes play test |
s | so the um the initial weeks might be a |
s | bit bumpy |
s | um and we don't necessarily guarantee |
s | um |
s | migrations in between changes or updates |
s | are internally in the play test which is |
s | really cool |
s | but I believe Dennis is on the |
s | on the the top of his game to making |
s | sure that these playtest builds are |
s | kind of keeping it somewhat smooth |
s | yeah I did instruct my people as well |
s | that's uh well basically we were simply |
s | focusing on learning the mechanics and |
s | not focusing on all these extensive |
s | builds yet because well because of all |
s | the migration issues I don't really want |
s | to uh to say like hey you're building |
s | yeah that's gone now I don't really like |
s | telling people that so I prefer to just |
s | prevent that and just manage the |
s | expectations correctly from the start so |
s | that people know what they're getting |
s | into and that they don't have to expect |
s | a smooth operation like this yeah |
s | I'm getting getting chased on by Dennis |
s | here that we're yeah that was what I was |
s | gonna say as well that we do need to |
s | wrap this up now yeah |
s | um but yeah I think from for me I'm |
s | quite happy it's been been a blast |
s | um |
s | picking out these different builds and |
s | and hearing about how you solved |
s | different kind of scenarios and |
s | different different difficulties and |
s | management and dealing with the economy |
s | um |
s | yeah Kobe do you have any any heart |
s | warming closing out words and statements |
s | from Australia |
s | now that it's Saturday morning |
s | I'm going back to bed |
s | also that's uh nauseating |
s | now um thanks for having us on the |
s | server like it's my pleasure I'm really |
s | good there's like a lot of cool stuff |
s | going on here I'll definitely be popping |
s | back in |
s | so many cool servers to pop into but |
s | I will pop around yeah yeah I mean if |
s | you want to take a holiday and see |
s | everything that we have I mean we |
s | skipped a few things by all means I mean |
s | it's a dedicated service so uh yeah |
s | it'll be around so |
s | yeah nice I guess um last thing like how |
s | can people |
s | um like join the Discord and |
s | come and come and join the server how |
s | can they find you |
s | yeah so I actually uh send uh commands |
s | right there that's the um Discord that |
s | dot DG and then uh |
s | this is actually our Discord link and |
s | the equal dots uh |
s | ah let me type that then what's two ends |
s | yes it's Suzuki also sent the Discord |
s | link over on the twitch chat as well but |
s | um yeah it's a little Funk can you |
s | because of the chat X but it's |
s | eco.profitor.nl |
s | um colon |
s | 2053 that's our IP so if you want to uh |
s | visit the the whole world because there |
s | are still a few things that we haven't |
s | even touched on due to time constraints |
s | and by all means uh you're all welcome |
s | too and of course if you want to talk to |
s | us about having your own group and when |
s | 10.0 thing drops yeah just contact me |
s | is also one of our Discord moderators |
s | over on |
s | go official Discord so we could probably |
s | find him in red there too okay if you |
s | have any other questions |
s | do not disturb uh |
s | hold you back because that's usually |
s | because I don't really like all this |
s | freaking sounds Discord makes if I don't |
s | do that yeah |
s | yeah |
s | thank you for showing us around and |
s | you're welcome |
s | yeah I think that's it for this Friday |
s | um |
s | we'll cook something else up for the |
s | next one we'll see if if the Avatar is |
s | done by then or |
s | where we're looking at |
s | um not making any promises no I I think |
s | it if if Avatar if the Avatar stream |
s | isn't ready to go then I'll probably go |
s | over the property and then plots and |
s | then like the settlement stuff because |
s | that's something that I believe is one |
s | of the high peak |
s | uh oh yeah sorry correction on that |
s | um that would be Thursday in that case |
s | because |
s | um |
s | I'm not gonna be available on Friday |
s | just to just to clarify that so that |
s | would be on Thursday evening last night |
s | um |
s | I might might drag you in here as well |
s | Kobe we'll see |
s | [Laughter] |
s | um but yeah thank you for so much for |
s | showing us around and |
s | as I mentioned in the beginning if you |
s | want your community server to be shown |
s | off and go over some of the concepts and |
s | everything just give Dennis A nudge and |
s | uh |
s | see you on the next stream |
s | see ya take care everyone |
