The planets are balanced fine. If you choose larger planets for no reason, you'll just evade any ecological impact as few players cannot cause big issues on a big planet. The memory requirement also is very moderate. Just 8-12 GB for 16km², minecraft with mods eats more.

I wasn't referring to the creation of the world, but the running of it. The creation of a world always takes ALL RAM and CPU you have, no matter how much. The more you have, the faster the world can be generated.
