Since yesterday, out of a sudden, i have a quite strange and annoying problem.

whenever i do a hyperspace jump, GPU workload is at 100%, providing just 10fps-20fps.

short before the hyperspace jump finishes, workload and framerates turn back to normal (>80fps stable VR, >60fps stable UWQHD).

same thing happens in the loading screen (rotating ship).

this happens both in vr (Oculus Rift S) and 2D.

i didnt change anything (hardware/software)

my configuration:

i7 7700K @ 4,6GHz, ASRock Z270m Pro4, 16 (2x8) GB DDR4 3200 CL16

Zotac RTX 2080 Ti AMP Extreme Core (1965MHz @ 1,0V / VRAM 7850MHz)

3 SSDs (2 SATA, 1 M.2)

Soundblaster X3 USB Soundcard

Oculus Rift S

Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS

LG 34UC87-B (34" 21:9 3440x1440, 60Hz)

W10 Pro, all drivers up to date

CPU Tmax is 65°C (CPU cooler is a Noctua NH-D15S with 2 NF-A15 Fans)

GPU Tmax is 74°C (when 100% workload, usually ingame around 65°C)

Elite Dangerous quality settings is set to ultra / VR ultra. i have no framerate problems inside/around stations or on/near planets.

does someone have an idea, what is causing this and how i can get rid of it? despite it is not gameplay critical, it annoys me a lot in 2D and in VR 10fps is really, really uncomfortable.

pls help^^

Was there ever a fix for this?

It's 2023, and I have a top of the line RX 7900, which has GPU spikes when jumping systems.

During supercruise, GPU is around 60%, when jumping, spikes to 80-90%.

Resolution is 3840 x 2160, Ultra. frame limit set to 144hz.

I'm happy to send a ticket if needed, however I wanted to do a web search on the issue first, which let me to this post.

Hi there CMDR,

Unfortunately there can be a number of causes for this - I do apologise. I've seen that we've received a ticket from you, so we'll be in touch shortly via email with some further steps :-)
