Actually emergency rations is a very inefficient way of getting food. You're using 8 plots to produce a rations pack that provides 500 food. Another much more efficient option would be to make ratatouille. Two plots (1 blue pepper and 1 spice) are all that's needed and it provides 212 food.

One other issue though is that both e-rations and ratatouille require purified water which may not be available. The easiest solution for food is to grow any vegetable plant and turn them into energy bars.

difference - ratatoule need a fridge to not spoil (it does very fast spoil) emergency rations don't spoil and you are able to store them in your inventory or any box.
