So, pre-existing builds are allowed? There are an awful lot of people who used spawned in resources to make some massive and gorgeous builds already. I mean, I don't have a chance in any way, but I hope they take that into consideration for others who just are starting since the announcement.
Correct, main reason being that there's not really any good way for us to validate that a build was made in X timeframe. A rule like that would only hurt legitimate contestants who play by the rules, while giving bad actors the ability to lie and cheat using old builds. So instead we decided to make it more open ended.
I think they should specify their definition of “one build”. Is it one unit = one house or can it be a village?
Really just one cohesive idea/game world. Can be a city if you want, or a sculpture, house, whatever! It's pretty vague and open ended for a reason, we want people to get creative :)
I feel like allowing friends to help is going to hinder a lot of the solo builders. I don't want to see the biggest builds being picked over the smaller ones due to pure grandeur.
There's not really any good way for us to confirm whether or not somebody built something solo or not. So trying to regulate this didn't make much sense, it would be too easy to cheat. But this is why we only give out the prizes and allow entries from one contestant, to hopefully somewhat de-incentivize large groups trying to work on a build and split the prize.
