Hey Guys,
Before I start:
Firstly, I want to clarify that I have no malicious intent and it was a person around me that leaked my rework. I did not intent to do that.
Secondly, BSG did a very nice job on the red dots rework making PK-06, Kobras bad as they are IRL, making the western sights better with clearer dots at the same time. Hell, they even rescripted how the HHS-1 works and I am sure it will be one of the better optics in EFT. There is no need to hate anybody from the DEV team.
Now...
Sometime around the beginning of 2021 I heard of the upcoming optics overhaul. Back then was also when I found something that allowed me to experiment by myself with reticles and scopes in overall.
Also, I have been searching for posts of other redditors who disliked how the combat optics are represented in EFT and found this and this guy's other posts: https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/el98so/ncstar_ado_p4_is_bad_yes_it_is_because_its/
So I started with ACOGs as they are the most misrepresented here, even with the 12.11 rework (https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/ob7ehm/the_acog_is_good_now/).
Here, the beauty of a 4x ACOG IRL is its HUGE field of view and a very nice sight picture but a small eye relief, which can be a pain in the *** when shooting from various positions.
Now - the TA01NSN in EFT has its correct reticle with amber illumination of the center cross. However, it is not scaled correctly at all.
TA01 but with red illumination
These were the references with which I started the rework.
Notice, with a small eye relief You have to get close to a 4x ACOG with Your eye BUT thanks to that You have a big sight picture. I tried to recreate that as much as I could.
So I came up with this what You saw accidentally:
Better? Sure, however I overdid it with the smallness of the reticle :P
Then I did this - I was not happy so I tried harder...
Then I started doing other optics, getting reference materials etc.
A real NCStar ADO P4 reticle from the post I pasted above. So I did it:
Then I dealt with the TA11D 3,5x ACOG
This one has a bigger eye relief IRL than the 4x and a reticle that I love. So I decreased its size to be less obstructive. You saw that as well earlier.
Next came the BRAVO and HAMR scopes:
BRAVO 4 - I decreased reticle size and gave it a bigger, nice FOV as IRL.
I like this one - that is one helluva clear optic! Also decreased reticle size and increased FOV.
SpecterDS4x - I found out the reticle was not correct and did one myself in CorelDRAW.
I also changed zoom levels to be more accurate - the 1x is a real 1x and not the 1,5x.
9x reticle differing from the 2,25x - changed zoom values as well.
Next LPVOs - didnt have to change much here, only the zoom levels for a real 1x and 4x (or 6x in VUDU) as well as the distance to eyes. IRL LPVOs can be shot NEARLY efficiently like a red dot on 1x magnification and they usually have generous eye relief, thus no need for them to be as close as they are in the game now. The vanilla reticles are one of the best in the game here though.
Sniper optics were next - in all of these I changed the distance from eyes to the scope to be closer to see reticles better. I increased FOVs and changed reticles according to references:
I adjusted zoom levels as well.
Leupold Mk4LR 6-20x - adjusted reticle, FOV and zoom levels as well as mouse sensitivity.
March Tactical 3-24x - adjusted reticle, FOV, zoom level, sensitivity.
Final words - as I said BSG did a nice job on holographic sights and red dots, big props to them btw., so I won't show anything I changed because they did it good. They also changed ironsights so these are more pleasant to shoot.
The focus here is rather on combat optics and sniper sights - I tried getting them as close to real life as I could. Some things are not possible, like variable zoom and brightness adjustment. These will come to the game at a later stage 100%, they need to be coded into EFT. Its not an easy task.
I wanted BSG to see this as references for their future changes.
OF COURSE I can help them if they want to. I know they can do this alone. They are a fantastic team.
Ask in the comments if You need to.
Cheers and long live EFT!
