My friend bought me a copy of the game, but bought the CIS/Russia version. I'm in the US. Im getting error code 208 when logging in to the desktop client. Would upgrading to the EU version allow me to play the game, or would i need to go through support to have them change to "Other" region version?

You will need to pay the difference in the cost of the versions. The "Other" version will allow you to run the game anywhere (and in the US) except in Europe. The "EUR" version will allow you to launch the game anywhere on the planet Earth
