[2021] If you randomly can't get the two-factor authentication codes needed to log into your BSG account, it might be because you're using a Microsoft-based email account (outlook, live, hotmail, etc).

I've been unable to log into my battlestate account since (at least) Dec. 24th, and here's why: the two-factor authentication codes that [email protected] sends when logging in mysteriously stopped showing up. After two and a half weeks of going back and forth between three tiers of Microsoft support (as well as BSG support), I think we found the issue.

Microsoft has an algorithm that automatically detects spam and filters it accordingly. I never really paid any mind to it - I just knew to look for the 2FA emails in my spam folder whenever I needed to log in. Apparently, if enough users receive mail that's filtered into spam from a specific sender, microsoft starts automatically sending spam complaints to the sender. This got my account put on a no-send list with BSG, and I'm hoping to resolve the issue soon so that I can finally buy a copy for my little brother.

In addition to this, when Microsoft starts sending spam complaints, they can also block mail from the sender without notification and without any way to un-block them without reaching out to their backend support team. If this happens to you, you'll have to go through three tiers of support before you'll be able to ask them to reverse the process.

It's been a nightmare trying to fix the issue. I had been blocked from receiving emails at two levels - one on Microsoft's end, and the other on BSG's end.

If you're using a Microsoft account, seriously consider putting the '[email protected]' account on the safe-sender list. Alternatively, you can try to have your email changed to something less sneaky such as gmail.
