Hey!

We are planning a mass test on Singularity on Tuesday, September 27th, at 17:00 UTC (= EVE time) to test several technical improvements aimed at improving your audio and visual experience, while drastically improving performance!

What has changes and what exactly is being tested?

  • Sound prioritization has undergone several improvements since the last mass test. Audio in EVE now sounds much clearer and will use drastically less CPU, resulting in more immersive and clearer sound experience, especially during heavy scenes.
  • There has been major refactoring in how we handle controllers for ships, which improves performance. This is most noticeable when many ships are rendered at the same time, like in fleet fights. The memory usage of the client is also significantly improved in these cases. We’ve also improved how long it takes for the client to load and unload ships, which gives a smoother gameplay experience.
  • EVE now fully supports variable refresh rates, which allows the use of Freesync and G-sync. If you have a system, it will be automatically used and ensure a smooth visual experience.

During the test, we will be examining performance in the following situations:

  • Docking, undocking, warping, and jumping of fleets
  • Shooting an Upwell Structure
  • A Fleet fight at a gate

How to connect to Singularity for this test:

  • Change the server from Tranquility to Singularity in the bottom right corner of the launcher and log in as normal.
  • More detailed instructions are available here.

Test instructions:

  • Ensure that Audio is enabled (best to restart if it was not enabled)
  • Please join the chat channels MassTesting (for instructions), MassQuestions (for feedback)
  • Fly whatever ship you want (optimally one, which can fight in a fleet fight)
  • Join fleet W or X (through fleet finder)

Steps (on command by CCP):

  1. Meet in FD-MLJ docked (preferably in a station)
  2. Undock
  3. Warp to and dock at the Masstest Keepstar
  4. Undock and warp to X-BV98 gate
  5. Jump to X-BV98
  6. Warp to a random planet
  7. Warp to the Masstest Tatara
  8. Shoot the Tatara (no other PvP)
  9. Warp to Poitot gate
  10. Fleet W: Jump to Poitot and setup camp
  11. Fleet X: Jump to Poitot and fight

What else should I know?

  • Use the command /moveme to be moved to the start system FD-MLJ.
  • 2M Skill points will be awarded on Singularity for this mass test.
