Hello spacefriends and welcome to the Community Beat! Here’s a roundup of some of the cool things that have emerged from the EVE community in the last couple of weeks which caught our eye.
New Take On An Old Favorite
We don’t often get to feature musical content in the Community Beat, but recently a Youtuber called Ghaladen who makes bass covers of popular video game music chose classic EVE track My Other Residency for his special treatment. Be warned though: this is so chill you may lapse into a coma, so make sure you’ve filled up your skill queue before listening.
Voices of New Eden
EVE Rookies founder and member of CSM 18 Kshal Aideron has begun recording a series of interviews with everyday EVE players to chronicle their stories. She's already spoken to several people so check out the playlist, meet these capsuleers and find out what drives them onward in their journey through New Eden.
Cool Spaceships in familiar settings
Appearing recently on a subreddit with an interesting name is this series of beautiful images of EVE Online ships in more "terrestrial" environments created by Fax_Pepper. Accompanying each one is some very cool flavor text in the comments under the post. See if your favourite ship has appeared yet!
skipthepickle's Charity Stream
Streamer skipthepickle is planning a 14-hour charity stream to raise money for cancer research. It will include a lore tour of New Eden as well as giveways! It starts at 19:00 EVE Time (UTC) on Wednesday, 5 February. Tune in and make a donation if you can!
11th Annual Frigate Free For All
Here’s an early heads up that the Stay Frosty/A Band Apart Frigate Free For All will be returning for its 11th iteration on Saturday, March 29. The event will be moving from its traditional home in Ouelletta to a new battleground in Amamake, but you can still expect several hours of system-wide chaos as capsuleers engage in wanton space violence. Stay Frosty/ABA will have prepared over 10,000 fitted T1 frigates which will be given out freely to anybody who needs one so you can brawl all day without worrying about your wallet!
