Hi and welcome to the Frontlines Wargame on Singularity!

A testing period for new features on Singularity should be familiar to everyone, however with Frontlines being such a significant undertaking we’re holding a wargame to encourage more sustained engagement with the feature while in testing and thus obtain more feedback than usual!

This wargame will be confined to the Amarr/Minmatar warzone in order to concentrate activity in one place and make it easier to monitor. For the purposes of the test we will simply regard the Amarr as the Blue Force and Minmatar as the Red Force. Hopefully this will make it more attractive to players who have strong connections to their Caldari or Gallente identities who would rather not fight for those other guys, even if it’s just on the test server.

Singularity

Singularity is our public test server which contains the in-developement versions of upcoming features and changes for players to test out prior to their deployment to the live server (Tranquility).

Accessing Singularity is quick and easy and the necessary steps can be found here. Updating your launcher for Singularity only adds the necessary game files to your EVE folder; it won’t affect your Tranquility installation so you can still easily switch back and forth between servers.

Singularity also has its own set of rules which you should familiarize yourself with. One notable exception is that since this is an extended playtest of a specific feature which will rely heavily on PvP, the “Combat by consent only” rule is suspended within the Amarr/Minmatar warzone.

The last mirror from Tranquility to Singularity was on 16 September, so your character’s location, skills and assets on the test server will reflect those of your character on Tranquility as of that date.

Please refer to this news item for some information on how Faction Warfare gameplay has changed.

Timeline

  • 25 October - Frontlines Wargame announcement and forum post (the one you’re reading now).
  • 26 October - Singularity will be taken offline at 13:00 UTC so we can prep the warzone. Singularity will reopen at 14:00 UTC which will be the official start of the wargame.
  • 4 November - Wargame ends at 14:00 UTC when Singularity will be taken offline and we begin to analyse the result.

The Battlefield

As mentioned previously, the wargame will take place in the Amarr/Minmatar warzone. Immediately prior to the start of the wargame control of the systems in the warzone will be reset to a balanced initial state to level the playing field for both sides:

initial_setup1920×1435 241 KB

For the Red Force, the constellations of Tiat, Essin, Angils, Huvilma, Hed and Aldodan plus the system of Ezzara (35 systems) will be placed under their control.

For the Blue Force, the constellations of Tandoiras, Sasen, Jayai, Eugidi, Vaarma and Semou (35 systems) will be placed under their control.

As this is on Singularity, each constellation contains at least one station that is fully stocked with all items for 100ISK each so access to materiel for your campaigns will be very straight forward.

Participation

Players who were already members of the Amarr or Minmatar militias on TQ as of 16 September should be able to just log in and go to work. :crossed_swords: FW players in Cal/Gal militias or players who aren’t involved in FW on Tranquility can log in on Singularity and enlist with either the Amarr or Minmatar militia in a matter of minutes.

For individual capsuleers enlisting in their preferred militia:

  1. Log into Singularity.
  2. Type /moveme in any chat window and then click on the “Move to” button beside either Amarr or Rens depending on which team you want to join in the window that pops up. You will then be teleported to the system you chose. If it does not work straight away give it about 10 seconds and then try again. (If you are the first person to visit the system since the last server reset it might need to be “woken up” by the server.)
  3. Dock up in a station owned by your preferred team faction.
  4. On the station services panel on the right locate the Factional Warfare icon and click it.
  5. On the Factional Warfare window that opens just click the “Enlist me” button at the bottom. Click the confirmation. Congratulations! You’re now a militia pilot. Make your way to the warzone!

fw_enlist1861×900 250 KB

For those who wish to enrol their entire corporation or alliance the steps are the same as above, you just click the appropriate button in the FW window. This action can only be performed by the CEO (corporation) or alliance executor (alliance). If you want your corp or alliance to be in FW on Singularity at the very beginning of the test you must enrol it prior to the server going down at 13:00 UTC on 26 October. Otherwise your corp/alliance will not be placed in FW until the next scheduled Singularity downtime at 05:00 UTC on 27 October.

Please be aware that in order to join a militia the character’s standing towards that Empire must be 0.0 or greater. In case of a corporation or alliance, the average standing of all members must be 0.0 or greater.

Objective

The objective for both sides is very straight forward: control as many systems in the warzone as possible by the conclusion of the wargame (14:00 UTC on 4 November). That side will be declared the winner.

Rewards

We measure contribution by individual pilots and corps to the success of their faction in Loyalty Points accumulated.

  • All capsuleers who accumulate any Loyalty Points for either side of the wargame during the testing period will receive a medal added to their character sheets on Tranquility as a token of gratitude for your participation.

Additionally the top 10 individual and top 5 corporation accumulators of Loyalty Points on both sides of the wargame during the testing period will also be rewarded on Tranquility:

Individuals will each receive:

  • 1,000 PLEX
  • 3 single-run Navy Faction BPCs (1 x frigate, 1 x destroyer and 1 x battlecruiser) from the faction of their choice (Amarr, Caldari, Gallente or Minmatar)

Corporations will each receive:

  • 30 single-run Navy Faction BPCs (10 x frigate, 10 x destroyer and 10 x battlecruiser) from the faction of their choice (Amarr, Caldari, Gallente or Minmatar)

Only Loyalty Points gained through plexing will be counted. LP earned for PvP kills or running FW missions will not be counted to avoid farming.

If a player or corporation switches teams during the event and accumulates enough Loyalty Points to otherwise be eligible for prizes for both sides they will only receive the rewards for the side they gained the most Loyalty Points with. It is possible for an individual to earn rewards even if they are a member of a corporation which also qualifies for rewards.

Bugs and Feedback

You may encounter some bugs as a lot of new content has been added to Singularity in addition to the Frontlines feature. The best way to report bugs to us is by pressing F12 in the game client and clicking the Report Bug button and filling out the fields you are provided. Alternately you can submit a report at https://support.eveonline.com with the information, however the in-client report is the most valuable to us as it includes information about the state of your client in the submission.

For general feedback about the wargame or your experience with the Frontlines feature please leave your comments on this post. The development team will be checking it regularly throughout the testing period.

Conclusion

We understand that there is a lot going on right now in the respective warzones on Tranquility with the faction campaigns that are currently underway and we appreciate any time capsuleers can dedicate towards helping test the Frontlines feature on Singularity as well. For those of you who make your lives in New Eden outside of Factional Warfare that have had your interest piqued by the recent goings-on in low security space, this wargame will be a great opportunity for you to dip your toe into a new and exciting space vocation in New Eden!

Combative capsuleers,

The Uprising expansion – a major new narrative-driven update for EVE Online – is coming in November and brings with it the biggest overhaul to Factional Warfare that New Eden has ever seen. The arrival of Frontlines will be a big change to how the empires' militias compete for control of the warzones on Tranquility.

To encourage participation during the testing period on Singularity and thereby obtain as much valuable feedback as possible on this new feature we are hosting a Frontlines Wargame on the Singularity test server with some cool rewards to be granted on Tranquility for individual capsuleers and player corporations who distinguish themselves!

The wargame will commence at 14:00 UTC on 26 October when Singularity becomes accessible to players after the initial state of the Amarr/Minmatar warzone on Singularity is set up and it will conclude at 14:00 UTC on 4 November when Singularity will be taken offline and analysis of the outcome will begin.

There will also be a livestream on CCP TV today, 25 October at 16:00 UTC where CCP Aurora and CCP Swift will go over all the changes coming to Factional Warfare and the content first shown at EVE Vegas last week. For details about the wargame refer to this forum post.

THE THEATER OF WAR

The Frontlines Wargame on Singularity will take place in the Amarr/Minmatar warzone only. By confining the wargame to a single warzone we hope to maximize participation in one place and make monitoring the progress of the event easier.

Factions don't matter for the purposes of this contest, though, and so within the context of this wargame on Singularity the Amarr militia will simply be regarded as the "Blue Force" and the Minmatar will be the "Red Force". So, if you're a proud Gallente or loyal Caldari on Tranquility, you don't need to feel bad about fighting for the Empire or the Republic on Singularity.

On the day the wargame commences, control of all systems in the warzone on Singularity will be evenly divided between the militias.

VICTORY CONDITIONS

As this is just a wargame which is primarily to help with testing this new feature, you're a winner just by taking part. That said, we realize EVE players won't be content with mere platitudes, and so the militia with control over the most systems in the warzone at the conclusion of the testing period will be declared the winner of the wargame.

There will also be compelling rewards for individual capsuleers AND corporations for both sides who distinguish themselves in the warzone during the wargame period, regardless of the final outcome.

We appreciate any time capsuleers can dedicate towards helping test the Frontlines feature on Singularity. This wargame will be a great opportunity for you to dip your toe into a potentially new and exciting space vocation in New Eden!

For those participating in the wargame who would like to provide feedback on their experience, the team would welcome contributions to this thread on the official EVE Online forums.

We look forward to seeing where the first Frontlines emerge on Singularity! Let's make Frontlines the best it can be.

DYNAMIC BOUNTY SYSTEM CHANGES LIVE

Additionally, an update to the Dynamic Bounty System (DBS) mentioned at EVE Vegas has gone live today on EVE Online’s Tranquility server! The minimum payout for the DBS has risen from 50% to 100 %, meaning that ISK rewards for pirate hunting in Nullsec will now be higher.

Until 30 November, there will be a bonus 10% payout - making the minimum payout 110% for the whole month - which represents a significant increase in payout for blasting NPCs, so get out there and bring in some bounties! Changes will take place during the DBS updates, so solar systems with modifiers below the floor may take some time to adjust.

Whether you´re participating in the wargame on Singularity or checking out the new DBS changes on Tranquility it's an exciting time in space.

Not exactly. Since this is just on Singularity it shouldn’t be a big deal to leave your old corp and join the militia of your choice. When Frontlines arrives on Tranquility the situation will still be as it is now where you have to join a militia corp in order to earn LP for participating in FW content. The “allegiance” system we’ve referred to previously will come later.

about 2 years ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

No you’ll have to join either the Minmatar or Amarr militia since this wargame is confined to that warzone to make it easier for us to manage and not spread pilots out too much. Remember this is just taking place on the Singularity test server, so changing corps there shouldn’t be too big an issue.

about 2 years ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

That’s a cool suggestion and I’ll definitely consider it!

about 2 years ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

Currently there is only one medal planned for anyone who participates regardless of which side they compete for.

Ok noted. I’ll have a think about whether there’s something additional we can provide for people who achieve a certain LP threshold but remain outside the top 10 but still did more than maybe run one plex and call it a day.

about 2 years ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

Thanks that exactly the kind of thing we’d like to hear about if you can report it via the F12 menu when playing on Sisi.

about 2 years ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

I’m uncertain. I don’t think they’ll be there tomorrow but Sisi may be updated with additional content before the conclusion of the wargame.

We’re only counting LP from plexing, not PvP or FW missions as per OP for just this reason. On Sisi with consequence-free shopping we figured some people would try to farm or do things they’d never dream of doing on TQ.

SOUNDS MADE UP

about 2 years ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

That’s still TBD. CCP Delegate Zero will need to divine the most appropriate source for the medal(s). Since the decorations will be coming on TQ I expect that dedicated FW players who aren’t ardent Minmatar or Amarr loyalists would prefer a more “neutral” medal than getting one from either of those Empires but I’m sure we’ll come up with something that all players who engage in the playtest can be proud of.

That’s something we hope to permit in the future but when Frontlines comes to TQ it’ll still require you to join a militia corp as has been the case for a while. At least on Sisi it’s not too big a deal to drop corp and join a militia to try out the feature.

The wargame concluded today at 14:00 UTC. Thank you all for taking part and leaving your feedback here and this thread.

I apologise for my presence in this thread dropping off during the second half - we’ve all been heads down at CCP working on things related to the launch of Uprising on Tuesday.

Congratulations to the Red team for winning the wargame, gaining two systems from the Blue team!

image435×556 52.7 KB

We will now begin our analysis of the results and will be posting the standings for individuals and corporations soon. Since the destroyer BPCs won’t even be available on Tranquility until Tuesday more news and potentially the rewards as well will follow later next week. When ready the info will be posted in this thread.

Prize fulfilment:

  • PLEX for individuals will be credited directly to the PLEX vaults of the top 10 characters from each side.
  • BPCs for individuals will be contracted to eligible characters in Jita 4-4
  • BPCs for corporations will be contracted to the eligible corporations’ CEO in Jita 4-4

Once determined, we will be reaching out to winners via evemail to find out which faction they would like their BPCs to come from.

And in response to a suggestion from @Madamal_Yiryi_Dethahal earlier in this thread, instead of issuing a single medal for all participants we will mint 3 medals and award them to the top third, middle third and lower third respectively of LP accumulators during the wargame so that those who put in a sustained effort get more recognition.

I mean everyone will still be getting medals, this was just supposed to be a nice thing for people who spent more time on the event.

@Urban_Merchant @Nessi_Narana Ok let me look into this.

@Alen_Asques I’ll DM you to get a look at your screenshot.

almost 2 years ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

Wait are you guys referring to Victory Points or Loyalty Points? Because VP should be in the millions but this contest was based on Loyalty Points as outlined in OP which should only be in the 10’s or 100’s of thousands.

almost 2 years ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

I omitted Tribal Liberation Force and 24th Imperial Crusade from the leaderboards above since they’re NPC corporations, and I can’t award BPCs to their NPC CEOs. So rewards for corporations are only relevant to player corporations. The NPC militia corporations were well in front of any player corporations, of course.

This is why individual prizes were included in the wargame so that players who were members of NPC miltias could have a shot at rewards as well.

It’s just hitting 5pm on a Friday here in Reykjavik so I won’t be able to do any further follow ups on this until Monday since people I’ll need to run things by are leaving the office for the weekend.

I will continue delivering awards as per the leaderboard posted above since they have already been announced and partially distributed, but I will find out if there was some error with the collation of the data next week and if so I’ll ensure that everyone ultimately gets the rewards they’re entitled to.

almost 2 years ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

Unfortunately I can’t confirm that’s the issue, or even if there is an issue right now. But because people seem to be so surprised by the rankings rather than just say “all results are final” or something like that and move on I’ll get one our data folks to step me through the process and see if we can either identify an oversight or just come back to you with a thorough explanation of what the methodology was to clear things up.

The last thing I would want is to leave people with bad feelings.

almost 2 years ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

Hey folks, I haven’t forgotten about you but I have been sucked into the AT black hole this week. I will get you a response as soon as I can.

almost 2 years ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

Hey there,

Sorry about the prolonged radio silence on this issue. Regretfully I don’t have more news right now. It’s unlikely we’ll be able to dive deeper into it until the new year.

Just wanted to touch base to let you know we haven’t just closed the book on this and moved on and if we’re yet able to determine there was some mistake with the data we pulled for the rewards in this event we still want to rectify that.

over 1 year ago - CCP_Convict - Direct link

Hi everyone,

I have a reponse from analytics. They confirmed the criteria they used for the leaderboard published at the conclusion of the event on Sisi are as follows:

Find the LP earned by each character:

  • Filter it to only between 202210-26 1400 and 2022-11-04 1400
  • Filter it to only Minmatar/Amarr

From that, we went and answered all questions:

  • Top 10 Characters for Amarr
  • Top 10 Characters for Minmatar
  • Top 5 corps that earned most Amarr LP
  • Top 5 corps that earned most Minmatar LP
  • List of all character IDs that earned any LP

So the leaderboards will stand as they are. Apologies to anyone who feels that they were entitled to rewards that they didn’t receive but we will stand by the results as determined by our analytics team. Since there have been concerns in the community about our ability to deliver accurate results for the final standings we will reconsider running events like this on the test server in the future lest they lead to further consternation amongst players.

Aside from that I personally apologise for how long it has taken to declare an official result. As the organiser of this event this was solely my responsibility.

BPCs and PLEX have already been delivered to the previously established winners. Medals are still outstanding but we still intend to deliver those according to the tables published earlier in this thread.

I will also be relocating this thread from the Announcements forum to the Test Server Feedback forum as a significant amount of time has passed since this event was held.

Medals have just been delivered to characters identified in the results post! My apologies again for the extreme delay.
