s hello everyone and welcome to CCP TV for
s tonight's stream uh we're going to be
s talking to you about the new Microsoft
s Excel add-in that was just officially
s released today after months of
s development and hard work and with the
s assistance of uh some of the internal
s external beta testers that we had to get
s involved with it as well got some really
s cool guests for you here tonight but I
s just want to talk about it for a minute
s because
s um they say don't let your memes be
s dreams and the spreadsheets and space
s thing has been a big meme for Eve online
s for a long time but this add-in is no
s joke it's actually a really powerful
s tool that's going to be that's now in
s the hands of players which they can use
s with Microsoft Excel for a wide array of
s tasks uh in Eve so joining me tonight to
s talk about this is senior game designer
s who worked heavily on this project CCP
s Nomad we've got uh Oz who should be
s known to all of you he's you know one of
s the well most well-known the most
s well-known Eve online Market Trader who
s also has an excellent YouTube channel
s and Discord which you should hang button
s if you want to get some really cool tips
s about how to make some uh big bucks
s trading in Eve online and my very
s special guest is Jacob Nielsen who is a
s product designer for Microsoft Office
s and who also collaborated really really
s closely with us on this plugin tonight
s welcome to the stream everybody and I
s just and I was as this camera after I'm
s just Frozen you're just Frozen again man
s I almost made it to the finish line here
s we go look I've got I've got this was
s happening during setup so I prepared
s accordingly so
s um now you can look at this version of
s the Oz and see if it gets on stock
s market you'll see at some point it looks
s almost the same yeah pretty much I'm
s just glad I got the right oz of if who
s once the camera started freezing could
s it could have gone anyway
s um anyway uh Jacob thank you so much for
s coming when was the first time you heard
s about this thing called Eve online
s I I actually started learning about Eve
s online when I joined the project about a
s year and a half ago
s um so I haven't played the Eve online
s before that to be honest I don't want to
s call myself a gamer at all the last game
s I really played was Halo on the original
s Xbox so that sort of says how many years
s ago it is since I played a game
s well I you know what I never played hell
s on the original Xbox but I did play it a
s bunch on PC so it has been a whoop you
s so
s um uh so did did Eve online come had you
s heard about Eve online at all prior to
s this or was the first thing you heard
s about when someone at the office said
s hey these people in Iceland uh have come
s to us with this idea about making a
s plug-in for their video game do you
s recall when you first had that
s conversation yeah well it was exactly
s that you know a year and a half ago I
s was like yeah interesting I've never
s made a you know Excel add-in on an Excel
s integration for a game before so this is
s really a first and I don't think Excel
s has had it at like an integration with
s any video game is is that correct so
s this not to my knowledge all right and
s um this is something that they always
s can probably speak to as well but Eve
s online has obviously uh really really
s complex industrial manufacturing chains
s uh and a really sophisticated in-game
s Market that you know you know Rivals the
s scale of like some small nations in
s terms of like the volume and the the
s number of Commodities traded and all
s those things on a daily basis which is
s really really nuts
s um once the scope of is it did you at
s all once you began to to learn more
s about Eve online did the the scope of it
s actually seem really appealing and
s exciting to you uh oh absolutely
s absolutely like you know it's it's all
s about data Excel it's all about data but
s especially Eve online is all about data
s and
s um
s I really I was really fortunate that I
s had someone
s that reached out to me that works at
s Microsoft that is actually an Eve online
s player and a really Advanced player and
s through conversations with him he really
s taught me about uh lots of things in the
s eve universe and how you play the game
s as an industrialist and
s that led to many conversations about
s what the add-in should do and I try to
s build prototype that he was using and
s you know saying giving me critique on
s and and so on and I think finally we
s came up with something that even he
s would use in his gameplay
s that's awesome and CSP Nomad speaking
s for yourself uh how did you get roped
s into this
s cool that's that's actually a funny
s story it was the the meeting the
s preparation meeting for the if keynote
s last Fan Fest so that was around
s beginning of April I think and we were
s talking about the elements of the
s keynote or who's talks about what and
s then at some pointy mentioned yeah and
s you will be talking about the axle
s adding to someone
s and I was like hey what now
s and I literally go got goosebumps on my
s skin yeah uh just hearing about it and I
s was so excited that even when I went
s home that evening and I told my wife
s about that same story and I got the
s Goosebumps again so yeah get that and
s like I wanted to be on this project from
s from day one really and that's that's
s how I got involved I remember when when
s I first someone came in and mentioned
s we're doing Excel plugin those into the
s community team area we were like yeah
s but why are you really here and they're
s like no we're legitimately doing the
s Excel plugin once we kind of yeah got
s over that sort of that you know the knee
s Jack oh you know the the spreadsheets in
s space me we were like and started to
s think about it and talk about it and
s we're like holy this could actually
s be really really significant and I'll
s I'll just go to you you've played with
s this a lot already During the debater
s period is that fair to say
s yeah absolutely I mean I'm I'm someone
s who uh who's who spends everyone that
s watches my stream knows that I spend
s more time in spreadsheets than than in
s in the client you know that's and that's
s not that's nothing against the game it's
s just that's that is my that is my game
s that's how you play that and I you know
s when when this was announced at Fan Fest
s I was there right Rick I mean I was uh I
s had a presentation just before and I was
s probably screaming uh the loudest and um
s for me you know the past month have been
s really interesting
s um in in in one way I am I'm really not
s the the target group for this right
s because I've I've taught myself to to
s program and to build all these
s spreadsheets I I built the spreadsheets
s for the community for templates for them
s to use and everything uh on the other
s end I was a good person to test it
s because like I was trying to replicate
s things that uh that I was doing uh very
s complicated before through this add-in
s and uh that's I think that's something
s that came to life here very very
s beautifully and you know you've been
s talking a lot about the democratization
s of data and that's I think what uh what
s this this will do this is certainly
s something where you can very very easily
s get a lot of data without having to
s learn how to program or learn macros or
s you know calling Jason uh scripts in in
s Google Sheets or in Excel you know so
s this is a very exciting times and happy
s to be here not not only democratizing in
s terms of accessibility to the data but
s also like I've got this right haven't I
s like the the web version of excel is
s basically free to use with this with
s this plugin
s so you can just set up an account
s download this plugin and start doing
s everything we're going to show you here
s tonight
s absolutely that's awesome
s all right well uh well without further
s Ado let's like jump in and start taking
s a look at some of this stuff so um CCB
s Nomad are you ready to to start going
s through what you've got there in front
s of you
s sure all right now let me see if I can
s get this done with a minimum of
s jankiness for the people who are
s watching the stream here
s wait
s okay hello stream sorry about that
s um there was no sound on that scene but
s there should be now can you confirm that
s you can hear us okay good thank you
s apologize you didn't miss much uh oh I
s just was just making sure was that uh
s c2p Nomad has adequately scaled up the
s um the cell cert we could read what he's
s typing but if it's still still too small
s for people on the stream please just let
s me know in twitch chat we'll see if we
s can boost that up a little bit more but
s go ahead CCP nomad
s yeah so how to get that in uh if if you
s just start your your ex desktop Excel
s you go to insert
s my addings here then to the store
s and then here search for search for even
s line and that's that's it really then
s you add the add-in from here
s it will ask you a couple of questions
s and you end up having it in your home
s bar like so on the right
s from where you can access that add-in
s itself where you can add the characters
s so when you click on it you get the tab
s with the add-in
s I'll just say that also you can get it
s from the web Excel so if you just open
s your browser and write Excel dot new
s then it will open a new Excel workbook
s for you where you you can follow the
s same steps and add the add-in from there
s so after you have the add-in you can add
s your characters So currently I have two
s characters here maybe I'll just remove
s one of them to show you how to add one
s and you get
s the normal Excel normal if SSO login
s that you could be familiar with that's
s not showing on your screen because
s you're sharing because we're all right
s and I did ask you to share the app so
s that's on me but I'm sure everyone
s twitch chat knows what the the eve SSI
s login window looks like it's where you
s put in username and password and it
s shows you the characters on that account
s and you choose which ones you want you
s agree to the Scopes and then you're good
s exactly that yes and from there you can
s select the the characters you want to
s authorize so it's all the same process
s that most of the players will be
s familiar with
s so yeah that's that's how you get that
s in and here
s it has all the functions categorized in
s in three categories whereas public those
s are functions that are not related to
s your corporation or character per se
s this is public information really then
s character which require you uh which
s require to provide a character for the
s functions so for example if you want to
s check the skills of a character then you
s you will find the function here
s like so for example
s each function has a try it out button
s which is very useful
s when you click on it the function will
s be copied to the cell you have selected
s so in this case I'm using the character
s skills
s and there's no attribute supplied here
s that means it's skills for both of my
s characters at the same time so if I want
s only one character
s I can hear
s get all my characters for example and
s provide this function with just one of
s them
s and now I have the skills from one of my
s characters and I will show how that
s works in other sheets that have been
s prepared so you can download the example
s as workbook from the
s help center article about the if online
s excel add-in at the very bottom there is
s a link here
s to the example workbook it's also linked
s in the news item that we released today
s and that workbook contains a lot of
s useful information how to you can what
s you can do with that in do you want me
s to show some of that off or should I do
s that later I don't remember what the
s schedule there isn't really a schedule
s it's just like let's just moved through
s as long as you get to talk about all the
s things and show all the things you want
s to show I'm cool with that so whatever
s order you think is going to be most
s naturally I will just say really quick
s I've seen one or two people on Twitch
s that saying like uh will this work on
s Office 365 I believe the answer that is
s yes
s um uh somebody else had said that they
s they're not able to see the the add-in
s unfortunately we can't really Provide
s support for you right now on the stream
s uh there is a sub Forum on the Eve
s online forums there's also uh we can
s also ask on the Eve online Discord
s someone who's gone before you may be
s able to guide you into what you need to
s be doing so if anyone is watching this
s live and currently trying to like get
s the plugin set up I'm afraid um afraid I
s can't uh we can't give you any help
s right now on Twitch chat yeah getting
s help from from the community is great
s but you can also just send a support
s ticket and then our customer support
s will handle it as well sure
s all right sorry carry on
s yes so so those are like examples how
s you can use the functions from here
s um
s for example what what other stuff I can
s say or I can show like inventory search
s so this function will provide for
s example
s uh here it is supplied with the word
s rifter and it returns all the types that
s have rifter in its name right so that's
s one way of searching for particular
s types
s but also is important about this add-in
s that it is built utilizing the entity
s data cards so every entry here
s is actually multi-dimensional data in
s one cell that you can access by clicking
s on its icon
s where it shows a little model window
s with all the information
s contained within that cell and that you
s can then extract into other cells next
s to it
s so for example we have this rifter
s absent hero skin whatever that is or
s maybe blueprint will be better to show
s and I can
s have access to all the attributes of
s that particular cell which in this case
s is specific item type
s so I can have its volume for example
s which is 0 1 cubic meters for a
s blueprint obviously
s so that way you can build
s uh the stretches you the way you want
s you have access to all the information
s and that's the information is nested
s within cells so for example
s this one
s if we extract the type from it okay so
s this is type already
s maybe I'll later show another example
s what does it mean if for example I get
s for a blueprint
s function that shows a blueprint so
s character blueprints that's okay
s so my characters have just one blueprint
s I those are just testing characters and
s that blueprint have for example
s all the information that you would
s expect a blueprint to have
s so I have the material efficiency time
s efficiency type and so on
s I see it's also got like a new like hit
s the location and things like that so
s um yeah you can also make a spreadsheet
s to track your own assets
s absolutely so I've made a few examples I
s will just show them
s um so this this shows all your
s characters so basically this call is
s active character without any character
s provided it will show you all the
s characters that you have authenticated
s and for all each of those characters it
s shows a few different values
s like total assets isk file is wallet how
s many skill points how many skills and so
s on here if you want to
s go deeper into the skills of specific
s character you can choose one of the
s authorized characters
s and it will populate with all the skills
s of that character will group them and it
s will even show you a chart
s um
s showing where those skill points are
s nice yeah someone asked in twitch that
s can you also use this to see how much
s time you got left to go on like Amiga
s for certain characters and stuff or no I
s was going to say or is literally the
s first question I pull out of twitch that
s the one that the answer is like no
s that's the one thing we didn't do all
s right no well there's your answer anyway
s yeah so you were asking about assets
s yeah so for example this call here even
s line character assets uh will return
s all the assets for example in this case
s it is from all the characters that have
s been authenticated because I haven't
s provided any particular character in the
s function call
s so you can tell those are Noob
s characters because they don't have that
s much so you could throw in a character
s id into that and it will just narrow it
s down by that character and you could
s have a separate tab for every one of
s your characters and just like click on
s it and yes definitely and it's not only
s that the character id that you can
s provide you can provide the character
s entity right which is this very thing
s so you can refer to this cell
s when when making that call
s so you don't need to know the IDS
s necessarily you don't need to operate
s with IDs you can always use the entities
s themselves in most of the functions
s that's cool
s so yeah so the last one I'm sorry go
s ahead yeah I'll show just the last one
s about Manufacturing
s um
s okay if I make it bigger it doesn't fit
s but we'll manage
s so in this one this is a calculator of
s profits for manufacturing that takes
s into consideration all the parameters
s that that really matter
s so so here let's say we we choose a
s blueprint Let It Be caracal and then it
s calculates automatically all the profits
s that I can I can get from it based on
s all the inputs that I can provide I can
s see here it's got It's got the material
s efficiency and time efficiency the
s blueprints take into account what kind
s of structure it's built in manufacturing
s system cost what tech level the rigs so
s it the the quality of the blueprints the
s quality infrastructure that you're using
s and I assume incorporates your your
s skills as well yes absolutely and this
s will show you our result
s where the red line shows the sales price
s for this item and the bars show the
s actual cost which is the material cost
s the job installation cost and the market
s related cost altogether and this shows
s three different scenarios where the
s first bar is your scenario that you are
s experimenting with the middle one is the
s worst possible scenario as in
s unresearched Blueprint and you are doing
s that in in station with with no bonuses
s and this is the best possible scenario
s so you can see that there is space to to
s improve right your own efficiency you
s can make money producing this very item
s if if you want it it's just a matter of
s comparing which attributes I want to
s improve like in this case the best
s scenario has the fully researched BP so
s maybe I can get that too and maybe I
s should do that in sotio instead of write
s a rule that gives me better bonuses and
s so on so forth
s and when you do all the calculations and
s you finally come a positive for the what
s you need for example this one the
s building is in cheetah which has 23
s percent
s uh industry cost index
s don't build stuff in GTA have such I
s every time I do an Abyssal run I come
s back and I'm like oh I got a red Mac
s blueprint copy I just right click buy
s all from G to throw it in the oven pull
s it out again I'd even think about it I'm
s such an idiot yeah so for example if we
s change it to the Dixie just for example
s it drops to six percent
s so that's already tells you that you
s just saved like 18 16 of
s of the value of the item in in profit
s potentially
s and here you get a bit of material bill
s of materials that you can just select
s and copy and paste it to the multibuy in
s the game by the stuff that you need to
s to manufacture the item you could draw
s that even further I imagine and sort of
s rather than doing minerals here from the
s build materials you could take that into
s or
s bring in your mining skills for your if
s you've got mining Ops and things like
s that and you can figure out exactly what
s your actual profit margin is going to be
s if you if you mind your own or because
s everyone knows that mining or is free so
s you can take that into account
s um uh Jacob like when it came to all of
s this stuff like what was the actual
s nature of the collaboration between
s CCP and Microsoft on this like what did
s it was a typical email exchange look
s like or you know uh how did it actually
s work how much how much teaching CCP
s about Excel was involved and how much
s teaching uh Microsoft about evils
s involved
s you know I think the the main thing that
s we did for this was to make something so
s um we started out
s doing a few basic demos that were then
s shown at The Fan Fest last year and that
s was just you know a small script that
s demonstrated
s the capabilities of excel that we we
s thought could be useful for for this
s island mostly the data types that that
s Daniel was is showing us right now and
s it's sort of a central piece of of the
s whole experience and then after The Fan
s Fest
s we really we worked on a on a proof of
s concept prototype that
s interfaced with the the eve
s API and brought the real data into into
s the whole experience and at some point
s the CCP team completely took over that
s that code base and evolved it into what
s you're seeing right now and from that
s Daniel has has really created something
s incredible Excel spreadsheets we showed
s some examples of what could be done but
s it's you know this is completely uh
s taking it so much further in in what is
s possible with the building blocks of of
s the add-in yeah I've just taking it
s further is right I know someone in in
s chat when Daniel was showing the um the
s sheet uh with the the build graphs on it
s they're like watch witchcraft is this
s but one thing I glossed over at the
s start yeah it was just like
s um you're the product designer at at
s Microsoft for Microsoft Office what what
s is that job actually entail what's your
s like what's your day-to-day look like
s well my day-to-day is uh trying to learn
s a lot about the needs of excel users or
s more generally spreadsheet users or
s users that work with data so I spend a
s lot of time connecting with customers
s and in this particular case it was not
s only you know players of Eve but it's
s also a CCP and the team there to really
s understand what what is this from or
s should this be from a user experience
s perspective but also from a from this
s business perspective and then it's
s really like working with feature Crews
s within the Excel team to come up with
s solutions that cater to those needs and
s figure out a way that we can build that
s and and and bring it out to to Market
s you know in parallel with this project
s we also worked on the programming
s interfaces in Excel that allows the
s add-in to actually deliver or return the
s data types onto the Excel grid that was
s not something that was completed or done
s there was a there was a feature crew of
s Engineers uh working hard to to realize
s that within within Excel that's cool is
s that something you'll be able now to
s deploy it otherwise apart from just what
s you've done here with the eve adding oh
s yeah it's been out there for a while and
s and available to to developers to use to
s create these data types that are really
s uh quite quite unique and some some
s quite an innovation in the category of
s spreadsheets because uh you know
s traditionally and from the beginning
s spreadsheets has been been about putting
s numbers and text on a grid and then
s connecting that with formulas but what
s data types brings to the spreadsheeting
s experience is really these sort of Rich
s values complex objects that can be put
s into a cell and and treat it as as
s values that you can expect as you saw
s Daniel do extract uh specific values
s from it and and so on and also in in
s some cases
s complex nested values within within
s those data types or list of things like
s for example the materials on a on a
s blueprint and things like that
s um and I assume over the years we
s mentioned before that this is the first
s um video game that you've sort of
s Microsoft Excel has like collaborated
s with but there's no doubt a whole bunch
s of other uh let's say drier
s um applications and and other data sets
s that you've probably collaborated with
s before did you just how would you
s characterize working with a game company
s uh versus you know a more I won't say
s the word professional because we're all
s professionals here but let's say like a
s more mainstream utilitarian
s um uh third party
s well I think it's been fascinating to be
s introduced to a world that was
s unfamiliar to me
s um I've I've not worked with a game
s company before I don't want to say that
s it's particularly
s different in the in the approach in how
s the people that I've worked with at CCP
s has thought about this this whole
s project in terms of formulating the
s goals and how they've thought about what
s should go into the add-in and and so on
s I think you would see that uh other
s places as well there's just one thing
s that really comes to my mind for this
s project is that I think that in terms of
s a mission of what the add-in should do
s and and also our mission at Microsoft
s which is really this the reason why we
s go to work is to empower every person on
s the planet to really achieve more and
s that's that's been one of the guiding
s principles of developing this add-in and
s really something that the team at CCP
s has been putting a front and center and
s this is really let's make sure that more
s players of Eve can get access to the
s data and do more with that data and also
s make the game
s more approachable
s for for those players and especially new
s players that may not have the developer
s skills to build uh
s one of the very elaborate solutions that
s are out there outside of the of the game
s today yeah that's that's something that
s Oz mentioned actually when he was uh
s speaking earlier is that how you know
s this this
s add-in isn't really going to be super
s useful to him because he's he's got the
s ability to create all his bespoke tools
s himself but it just lowers the barrier
s of entry for for everybody else and it
s means that all the people who who didn't
s know I mean so us for example the adam4
s eve website that you often show during
s your during your live streams every time
s uh sure your your regular viewers are
s very very much used to seeing it but
s every every so often Oz will come and do
s just a guest stream on the CCP Channel
s and he'll he'll do his normal show but
s just on this platform and just just
s because it's got It's the CCP Channel a
s lot more people sort of come in
s um because you're a little skin goblins
s than you want to go netskins probably
s but they're always captivated when they
s actually start watching your stream
s particularly when you show off that
s adam4 Eve utility just like how powerful
s it is and the number of people who just
s don't know that it exists right
s automatically gives a massive advantage
s to to people who know how to exploit the
s tools that are already in the ecosystem
s the really really good array of
s third-party tools that are that by
s developers have been making for years
s and even have done a fantastic job but
s this is this is a a just a spreadsheet
s you click on add a plugin and then a CCP
s Nomad we're showing you before you just
s have a bunch of stuff on the side and
s you can just begin to play with it and
s just kind of unfolds in front of you
s just what you can do with it
s I just said that last week on my stream
s I think
s using tools like Adam adam4 Eve or even
s even achieve assets uh
s you're probably above 80 of the player
s base already it's almost cheating isn't
s it just by first of all knowing it
s exists it's so it's so powerful that
s that you can you can make very good
s money and Eve online just using those
s tools and now it's it's going to be very
s interesting to see what this
s democratization is going to do
s um to to profits in in trading in in Eve
s because the question is are you know how
s how little effort is too much because I
s think now nobody has an excuse there's
s really no excuse left to not build a
s spreadsheet and uh and and and really
s maybe we can drop that that 80 number
s down to 50 of people that are now using
s the data yeah I did fish this one
s question out of chat before I don't know
s if anyone in the chat is in the Stream
s excuse me is in a position to answer it
s but it was uh from Chris matica who just
s said is there will there also be an API
s for LibreOffice or is it exclusively for
s Microsoft Excel I'm not familiar with
s LibreOffice Microsoft Excel I assume
s it's uh like a competitor or something
s like that
s um I I don't believe we haven't we
s haven't been working with anyone from
s that end to develop that uh some people
s have also asked about Google Sheets
s plug-in I believe there's actually one
s something similar to this floating
s around which is community made but I
s don't know any details on that
s but I'm going to keep this one to excel
s anyway
s um CCP Nomad did you manage to get
s through everything that you wanted to
s I thought you can be frozen there for a
s second uh then you moved your eyes uh by
s the way uh kaldari Prime Capone Club
s wants you to start recording audio books
s so you can you can listen to your dolls
s at tones on the way to work probably
s um that's nice of you yeah did you get
s it there was there was one more question
s in chat that I thought was very
s interesting oh yeah if you guys spot
s anything just like call them out yeah
s they fly by but one of them uh I I read
s and I was curious about it that's
s um
s we know a lot of things this add-on is
s going to make easier
s um that before you had to use the the
s API for
s um or or various other ways is there
s anything that this add-in can do that
s wasn't possible before and this question
s you know I can't answer it but maybe
s Jacob or Nomad maybe you guys can think
s of something that is now possible that
s that wasn't even possible before
s well one of the things that wasn't
s available in the easy API was actually
s the information about blueprints like
s the only way to get blueprints from that
s API was through the static file download
s and as part of this we I believe the
s team enabled an API for blueprints which
s is used by by the ad and I don't think
s the add-in is is using the static file
s download anymore
s yeah that's a good point
s yeah that's that that is correct so some
s of the data isn't available in ESI and
s we made it into the add-in I also want
s to say that there's some very you know
s we started out making some really simple
s functions like for example the product
s search that Daniel showed earlier and
s things like that and then talk about the
s end of the the project we got into
s making something that was more and more
s complex and also is very very complex
s when you play the game so for example
s this is not only about getting data but
s there's also some functions that there's
s some some computation for example the
s blueprint explosion function that can
s take a a set of types and actually
s qualities and then compute you know what
s is the complete material need for for
s this and like
s um what is the excess materials that you
s you will have at the end end of this so
s give that a try it's it's it's a very
s fairly complex
s and I think in in many regards like the
s functions that I in the ad add in Now is
s really just a
s sort of version one oh like it's it's uh
s it's just the beginning of what can be
s done uh with with this and and hopefully
s you know we'll continue to add new and
s interesting things to it
s cool uh let me see I just wrote another
s question here
s um oh yeah just first to address
s something I mentioned this at the top of
s the stream earlier in the Stream but
s maybe it was missed but there is there
s is you can actually use this in Office
s 365 for free uh this plugin you just
s need to go there and make an account I
s Believe In the case
s um
s oh damn
s somebody asked if they can use this to
s pull solar system data and things like
s that I I don't believe so right because
s this is all bound to endpoints that you
s can access through the character
s so solar system data depends on what
s data we are talking about you could you
s could do things like um like the mining
s index strategic mining index yes yeah
s those kinds of things right I think this
s person was talking about like oh can I
s make a uh a spreadsheet to to identify
s kills and things like that but I
s I doubt that is taking into account here
s no no they wouldn't be so you can't you
s can't make an XL version of um Ezekiel
s um
s let me see there is a question though on
s on push capabilities from nickpaw and
s um you know one one of the very cool uh
s things is the the order stream so you
s can actually there there are some
s functions in here at least one that I
s know of that updates every few minutes
s um Based on in-game data so that's
s highly relevant for for Traders like me
s when you're monitoring
s um orders and prices across you so you
s don't have to the way I do it now is I
s have a in in my spreadsheets I have
s buttons that I click and then a hundred
s functions run right in the background
s for here this is actually one thing that
s um that is less less tedious now in this
s atom
s uh Ludwig Van wrecked oven says this is
s great for someone like me thank you
s thank you I'm glad I'm glad that's
s exactly what we want to hear
s um uh let me see uh seems to be Nomad
s Did you sort of get through everything
s that you wanted to show on on your
s sheets there or did you have some other
s things up your sleeve you just want to
s know whether or not I we should move on
s to what Oz was cooking or if you still
s want to talk about
s uh we we can move to us I I think it's
s best if people explore that example
s sheet themselves yep
s um and build their own
s Contraptions yeah and then share them
s please please do share your stuff when
s when you build it uh this is an
s inspiration for us because this whole
s thing started as being inspired by third
s party tools that that we all use and
s love when we when we play if
s so the more new stuff we see made by you
s guys in in the X11 will inspire us more
s to to add more functionalities
s so yeah we can move towards all right
s cool so what do you what are you going
s to be uh doing for Usos
s yeah so I'm going to start with a a
s completely blank sheet and I'm going to
s build some of the the backbones that I
s would use to start a trading spreadsheet
s like I have before in using using other
s tools and using API calls
s um so uh you know feel free to um uh
s conflict if you can keep an eye on chat
s and and pass the questions because I'm
s going to be uh basically live coding
s here oh sure your and your little feed
s here is a little bit janky let's see
s let's see if it clears up while using it
s sorry about this folks no worries is
s that is that better now uh no no it's um
s at least on mine as human stream two
s it's a little bit uh
s small a bit like no no it's not so much
s the matter of the zoom it looks like
s what am I trying to say this looks
s artifacting a little bit like it's uh
s it's being heavily compressed doesn't
s matter carry on we'll we'll uh
s so
s um uh first of all you know uh I'm gonna
s throw some shade on Nomad here but this
s is how you spot the professional Excel
s streamer I made everything black Nomad
s because I know people scream at me all
s day before having a light spreadsheets
s so this is for um for our basement
s dwelling friends
s um the the dark the dark spreadsheet so
s um everything that that I would do
s um starts with wallet transactions right
s so we we would want to
s um pull in the water transactions and
s with this add-on it's it's so super easy
s because all I can put in here is um I
s put in Eve and I see basically all of
s the functions that uh that I have
s and I can uh over here pull go to my go
s to my character and go to wallet
s transactions and if I uh put this this
s custom function in there uh and I
s actually leave everything blank then
s what this is going to do this is going
s to pull in all uh transactions uh that
s are relevant for the characters that
s I've loaded in here now this is these
s are um you know some of my uh this is my
s streaming character and two hours as you
s can see here
s um and this automatically now pulled in
s all of the wallet transactions for uh
s the last month I believe is this is is
s what it does without without any um
s without any uh additional variables in
s there so
s um this is this is great but you know as
s if if you're building stretch
s spreadsheets a lot you already can see
s okay what is you know what is this this
s only has like the item name so the
s reason for this is because you can use
s this card right here this actually has
s contains all of the information
s um yeah let me see we might have to redo
s the screen share just due to the fact
s that um because of the way I think I
s told you to I asked you to do this yeah
s people aren't getting the cards showing
s up in the Stream let me just confirm
s okay they're not seeing the drop downs
s and things like that uh I can share I
s can share one entire screen if you want
s me to yeah let's let's try and do that
s let me bring it let me bring it back in
s here and we'll monkey around a little
s bit
s all right we're back here you want me to
s stop and uh and share the entire screen
s yeah actually you know what chat let us
s just do this under the cloak of of um
s uh of an offset screen because it's just
s gonna get really ugly for a minute so
s don't go anywhere we'll be right back
s [Music]
s [Music]
s [Music]
s oh
s [Music]
s [Music]
s foreign
s the card comes up and then we're back in
s yep I think stream can see that now we
s should be good all right thank you for
s bearing with us uh twitch chat while we
s got that sorted out you should be able
s to see all the drop downs and pop-ups
s and stuff now please Oz carry on
s yeah perfect so
s um this uh is all the wallet
s transactions that I pulled in with one
s formula so it just took me 10 seconds
s right the great thing that I can do in
s in here now is I can pull in all the
s information for the transactions that I
s want to see right and it's it's even
s easier than uh um than than building the
s spreadsheet myself because I can now say
s okay give me the type which Returns the
s actual item right I can say give me the
s uh the the
s unit price right
s um
s if I give that the right um
s the right type of uh of of a formula
s right there or a format I can pull in
s the owner right so it'll return the
s character immediately of this
s transaction it I can also do something
s like quantity right and immediately I
s would have a sheet
s um that is you know very very useful and
s very customized for how I want to look
s at my transactions and the great thing
s is I can actually now pull all of this
s down and it will
s replicate down right so
s um this takes me literally two seconds
s to pull together a transaction sheet
s that I used to pull out of Chief assets
s just like this and here it's even easier
s to uh to customize it right so these are
s transactions now
s here's the thing that blew my mind uh
s the first time I used this because not
s only did I pull in the transactions here
s I uh I connected the type right so in
s this case the uh this looks like it's
s just the item but it's much more than
s just the item because since I can
s connect the type to the transaction I
s can now also pull in all of the
s information of the actual item that was
s in that transaction so this is a rabbit
s hole that that uh that is now
s associating different tables with each
s other so having done that I can pull in
s the average price right I can pull in
s stuff like the the icon I can pull in
s the volume of the uh the item so
s um this becomes just very interactive
s very very easy to use and again I can
s just you know pull this down and
s immediately
s have a sheet that is a very powerful
s transaction sheet now transactions is
s one thing that I use a lot right for for
s trading obviously for this what you
s could you know there's a myriad of
s things that you can do with this now
s this would you know this was this would
s totally be uh way more than we can cover
s today but I could now based on this I
s could calculate the average price I used
s to buy to buy the uh the item at Etc
s everything that I used to do but this
s gives me all of the raw data that I that
s I need to do any any type of shenanigans
s that I want to then do with the data the
s other thing Nomad alluded to earlier
s let me make this also a little bit
s bigger here
s [Music]
s you guys can actually see this so the
s the other thing is I can't see the
s sailboat is is that
s oh no that's that's just because I oh
s good I'm just making sure as if this is
s because you know this is something for
s Jacob because yeah I I I have to do it
s like this because Excel uh doesn't have
s a a dark mode you know I'm hoping every
s it has the dark mode for up here but it
s doesn't doesn't have the dark mode for
s down here so uh this is how I have to do
s the work around for it don't waste the
s opportunity to get your wish list in
s right yeah exactly I don't get to sit
s with Microsoft every day
s um taking notes here okay thank you
s thank you this is this is coming from an
s Excel streamer
s when you're done I have a trick that I
s wanna uh when when we're done uh yeah
s but I I'm all ears I'm all ears so uh
s Nomad alluded to this earlier but you
s know pulling in assets is also
s fantastically Easy Eve character assets
s you know I can
s do this and it's going to pull in every
s single asset that I have and yes this is
s the US this is a lot of assets
s so um again this is pulling in uh this
s this card so I can have a look at this
s card and I can look at all of the items
s that I can pull in here and again I can
s link this again to the type which will
s then open up a whole nother
s um a whole another set of
s um of of additional columns that I can
s pull into the spreadsheet but for assets
s um you know again let's uh let's pull in
s something like the the owner is very
s relevant because I have you know three
s characters here and I didn't specify the
s actual uh character in the formula so it
s pulled in the uh the assets for all of
s my characters I can pull in the uh the
s location that's important you know all
s my stuff is a cheetah but if I wanted to
s find out how much is in the Triple T
s that I need to evacuate or it's probably
s too late now then this would be an easy
s way to do that and again I can take this
s I can pull this down and there you have
s it again this item again is the location
s from the location card I can then pull
s in things like the region ID for Jita
s right and so bam I've got the region ID
s all this all the stuff that in the in
s the old times you had to pull out of the
s sde I I used to I have like 20
s spreadsheets that just have static data
s that I refer to all the time right and
s those that's something that I can that I
s can now do with this super easily
s because I can uh very easily go in here
s and and pull the uh this this data right
s here the only reason this throws an
s error is because this is an enormous
s Freight container that obviously doesn't
s have
s a region code
s um yellow Hollow asks can you also do
s the same thing with like Corporation
s assets
s yes so um it's it's the same thing right
s here
s um instead of a character I can put in
s Eve I I would have to I would have to
s delete this other stuff so I don't
s confuse it but if we um if we have if we
s go down here we have exactly all the
s same formulas
s um for corporations so orders assets
s transactions wallet Journal all for
s corporations you can you can you can
s pull in so if I uh this is a holding
s Corp so who knows if we have Corporation
s assets but I'm willing to try
s um
s and I we probably I probably have to
s specify yeah I have to specify either a
s search string or or an uh or or a
s corporation ID but in there in theory
s yes
s it works absolutely can you do contracts
s as well I suppose if their contract so
s character was made
s uh I haven't tried contracts because I
s don't know
s I'm I'm the yeah no matter feel free to
s answer we've added contracts yesterday
s I believe I believe we've added I did
s say contrary in that version I'm not
s sure about the public
s but I think yes
s one one thing that I that I do want to
s show is somebody asked earlier in chat
s about
s um uh trading history you know Market
s history that's that that's the big the
s end point that was you know that was
s missing for a long time that uh that you
s know we were all crying about
s um and we can we can pull we can pull a
s lot of uh uh history in into here uh now
s this is this is just very complex you
s know people when when people ask and
s chat you know can you pull in market
s prices and everything
s a market price in Eve right is not a
s singular thing it's a very variable
s thing there are regions there are points
s in time there are stations there's no
s such thing as a price for an item
s because there's a reason why all Traders
s only look at the the percent price as we
s nickname it right the percent price is
s the top five percent of sell orders uh
s aggregated because the cheapest item on
s the market doesn't mean anything to me
s when I want to buy 100 billion of it
s right I I need to have things at scale
s so the way that the the add-in and you
s know Nomad and yeah I hope you guys have
s to jump in because I'm I'm talking about
s your your product here but
s um the the market history is something
s that um that it's done differently but I
s want to show it because I know a lot of
s people are curious about it so if we
s pull the market history in here then
s um I can I have to specify here a a
s region and an and a type ID otherwise
s this would be way too big right
s um and of course this being me I I know
s this by heart but I don't blame you if
s you don't know the the forge region
s close my heart right and uh and let's go
s with titanium 34 as everyone knows
s um and we can uh
s that was uh this is this is the the
s German way to write the formula there
s you go and
s um so immediately
s um I have pulled in with these two
s variables that I know by heart but which
s was this you you can very easily pull it
s in with with other information uh as
s well I have pulled in the market history
s for tritanium in the Forge right so
s um
s what I can do here now is I can look at
s the history and I think this this helps
s a lot if I look at the card information
s now for the market history then we see
s here that the in this case the history
s is not linear but the history shows the
s average pricing over time with high low
s so everything that you can get from the
s um the the market history endpoint as
s well you can you can get here it's just
s um a little bit more difficult to to
s display it so if we were to pull in the
s entire Market history right now you see
s what happens here this now pulls in a
s card for the market history for uh for
s every single day of the last I I don't
s know month or so no it's much longer
s than that right
s so um
s from here I can then again drill down
s and get the highest price uh get the the
s the lowest price for example uh and what
s this now does is this shows me a nice
s little table of the high and low price
s of titanium in the Forge over the last
s um you know X time period And so this is
s um
s the data is all there it's easy to pull
s in what you do from it is going to be
s amazing to see over the next few weeks
s right people like like like me uh and
s and a thousand others that do this even
s better than me are going to jump on this
s uh create great templates and I think
s the real power in this is going to be
s when we all exchange our templates
s um you know or or sit on them like
s goblins and use them for profit
s amazing stuff
s because does that conclude what you
s wanted to show on the screen there yeah
s sure the um maybe one one absolute last
s thing would be yeah I don't think
s anyone's gonna have any problem watching
s more of this okay so you know I mean you
s you cut me off it's it's as as usual you
s kind of like you just cut me off yeah
s uh so um Market orders is another big
s thing for Traders right if you want to
s see your orders so you can pull in
s character
s um orders right here also the history so
s expired orders or um
s um or canceled orders but the
s interesting thing is just orders and now
s I can put in a character id here of the
s RS but I can also just leave it blank
s and it pulls in just like it did before
s it pulls in all the orders for all the
s characters now you can see that this
s account isn't extremely active right now
s um but these are the orders that this
s account right here has has going uh at
s the at the moment again this is a card
s so one order means one card what I can
s do here is I can look at the card again
s and see all the informations about that
s order but the magic of excel comes to
s life when I actually say well I need to
s know again what type is this so what's
s what's the actual item I would like to
s know uh what the the price is that I
s actually have on this order I also need
s to know the volume remaining that's very
s interesting right the total volume isn't
s as interesting as the volume remaining
s and I would like to know this little
s field which I appreciate this was
s probably
s a challenge on how to display this but
s there is buy order is an elegant way of
s saying is this a buy order or a sell
s order
s um and so this way we draw this down and
s you can see here it says false false
s false that just means
s um these are all sell orders so that's
s that's all that means
s and if you you know if you use this as a
s raw data and you you build stuff on top
s of this probably you just rename it for
s your own uh for your own spreadsheets
s and so you can see here that I have you
s know these items for this price at this
s remaining quantity
s um and they're all sell orders and then
s I can start uh uh I can you know by
s freehand uh improvise uh formulas right
s so I can go in here and I say okay price
s times quantity is the total value of
s this order right we we we put this down
s uh you know put a nice little uh sum on
s top of this and boom I've got uh 31
s billion sell orders outstanding right
s now right I also need to know where they
s are now you guys know me these are going
s to be all in Gita but for everyone else
s this is not going to be the case oh look
s oh a couple oh oh you better get on
s to it
s yeah um so uh
s this is uh this is asset safety
s so I feel compelled to be the professor
s here and just teach you a little trick
s or your demo is fantastic and you're
s really showing the capabilities of the
s whole thing but there's one thing I want
s to show you because you're doing this
s copy down which is very common for Excel
s users yeah that you want to do that but
s how about you just uh Delete all of the
s things that you copied down except for
s the first line where you have the
s formulas yes there good and then you go
s to each of the formulas
s uh so uh what you have there and it says
s what does it say a A6 dot something and
s then just after A6 you put in a part
s sign pound sign
s yeah okay hash right hash yeah yeah
s um and you just hit enter on that
s uh you can do that on the other phones
s as well the the the the the the neat
s thing about this is that if the list in
s column A changes in the length like
s there's more orders are coming in or
s fewer and so on that will actually
s dynamically update and this is a feature
s of dynamic arrays in uh
s I hope that I know that there's Excel
s Engineers on this uh listening to this
s twitch and if they haven't left and
s started coding up why Excel is not
s inserting that uh or you know
s automatically but let's see maybe we'll
s do that someday coming today was already
s worth it now this is already this is
s already the best day of the week by the
s way you can you can do the same in
s column F where you have multiplication
s oh yeah yeah I just I just have to do uh
s right there yeah just delete yeah delete
s that part and just do the first row the
s first cell with pound signs in both
s like that
s no D6 hash right multiplied by whatever
s that is C6 hash yes
s perfect and put the hash here yep yes
s look at that I I get to learn something
s yeah so um you I I think you guys can
s see that this this is
s when you get started in this it's a it's
s a it's a rabbit hole because you can you
s can build this out to whatever you want
s it to be and this is really just um uh
s just me playing around in 10 15 minutes
s and uh you know as I said earlier this
s this is uh I can't wait to see what you
s guys you guys do with it
s back to you coming all right
s um we're sort of getting to where we'll
s probably wrap this Upstream there's been
s so many questions in twitch chat while
s you're talking like can I do this
s specific thing can you look up this
s specific thing what about this what
s about that uh afraid we can't answer and
s go through all those things in my new
s detail tonight friends but you can just
s grab it yourself like uh uh office
s online with the plugin is free you can
s start playing around with it and you can
s you can try your hand at all these kinds
s of things here and uh pinned to the top
s of twitch chat the link to today's news
s item which I believe contains like uh
s links to a template for people to start
s the one that you were moving around
s before CCP Nomad is that correct
s I'm sorry I didn't get that that's okay
s uh the the template the the demo sheet
s that you were playing with uh before
s that's included in the news item yes it
s is in the news item and also in The Help
s Center article all right so it's it's a
s Brave New World for uh spreadsheet
s enthusiasts and Eve online uh someone
s made the the comment before that there
s was a
s uh you know like is this the most people
s who've ever watched an Excel stream I'm
s gonna say no because there is like an
s Excel esport isn't there yeah
s Esports but I want to say that I think
s that the the people at Microsoft working
s on this project has really been
s surprised about how much interest there
s has been in this add-in from when we
s first launched it at Fan Fest till now
s so that's that's super super exciting
s no it's it's excellent and like like
s we've said multiple times on the stream
s already we really can't wait to see uh
s what you do with these now that you've
s got it into your own hands because it
s won't necessarily be people Nest all
s that for themselves trying to get a leg
s up either you'll have these wonderful uh
s philanthropists like Oz here who are
s sort of I'm sure you keep some of the
s really good stuff for himself but it's
s usually very very forthcoming with lucky
s sources and his methods and uh likes to
s really educate other people about how to
s take advantage of um of uh Commodities
s markets in new Eden so I'm expecting a
s lot of people to be creating
s um uh templates for this with the
s express purpose of sharing it with other
s people too so even even if with the
s access to the plugin you're still not
s the most confident with the designing
s spreadsheets
s um uh you'll still be able to get your
s hands on some really good stuff for the
s result of this because as we mentioned
s before as we've seen with third-party
s developers uh e-online players are
s incredibly generous with their time and
s their work so these things will make it
s into your hands
s um but I know ironically
s um since Microsoft Excel is pretty much
s its own esport and because we haven't
s Alliance tournament wouldn't it be neat
s if we had some sort of uh XL PVP
s tournament uh in Eve online maybe that's
s something we'll start workshopping
s tomorrow in the community team and see
s if there's any possibility we can figure
s out what we can do with that before Fan
s Fest because of where's a lot of work
s leading up to that in September
s but we'll see
s um but that that's enough for us for
s tonight the longer we talk the less time
s you can get uh the longer it'll be
s before you can um sit down and start
s playing with yourself in Earnest so uh
s check out the news item that's linked at
s the top of twitch chat or just go to the
s Eve online website and look at the news
s and you can you can down you can read
s the news item from today which has all
s the information that you need to get
s your hands on this and get up and
s running
s um CCP Nomads sorry I want CCP apart
s from industry Nomad Oz and Jacob thank
s you so much for giving us some of your
s time to talk about this tonight it's a
s lot later than our usual streams outside
s business hours but
s um uh so that just makes it extra cool
s that you made the effort to come out
s here
s um before we sort of step out is there
s anything that anyone wanted just to say
s with regards to Excel or anything else
s all right Oz are you doing stream this
s weekend
s I am do I take a minute to plug yourself
s uh sure I I you know most most of you
s have seen me probably on on here my my
s Show's always uh Saturdays at um at
s around 8 PM UTC
s um 10 p.m uh Central European Time uh
s this this I I mean uh convict you have
s to tell me if I have a CCP guest this
s week this weekend but uh oh yeah you
s know yeah we're we're hoping to we're
s hoping to have a CCP guess this weekend
s again
s um and uh probably we'll see I've been
s kind of sandbagging you there because
s I've just been trying to get this out of
s the way first but we'll see
s um but it's looking it's it's it's it's
s it's looking quite good but either way I
s do a a a a show where we do market
s trading and a lot of spreadsheeting uh
s and so if you want to learn about this
s this sort of stuff
s um the spreadsheets and making a lot of
s a ton of isk in in Eve online then tune
s in uh it's a twitch dot TV slash
s underscore Eve right on uh but on BET on
s your nine sorry I wasn't able to do any
s uh oh sorry button uni Inc I wasn't able
s to do any skin Raffles today because I
s was too busy mashing buttons there was a
s lot of moving parts of the stream on the
s back end which you might have been able
s to tell you it's like higher than normal
s jankiness than my higher than usual
s flusteredness well I've been speaking
s tonight uh but it's all sort of worked
s out but don't worry you got your channel
s points you'll be able to claim when
s there's going out skin soon and you'll
s be able to come tune in on Friday when
s we do lift to feed uh we'll definitely
s do some Raffles for that one but we'll
s we'll finish it up there thank you so
s much for coming and watching everyone
s we'll send you off on a little raid
s thanks again to all of our guests and
s we'll see you again on Friday for Lift
s to feed at uh 1500 UTC yeah
s bye
