s so i i really didn't want to be ceo so
s that's uh
s e vegas uh 2019.
s uh so uh dunk what happened
s oh you can do better than
s that well we had a war
s so uh in that war uh brave was in a
s really weird place our ceo at the time
s kagali gali was doing the tradition of
s going completely afk
s and so brave was run by this kind of
s consensus group of kind of people in
s charge and we kind of stumbled into the
s war and my job is kind of the spirit
s animal of brave was to kind of motivate
s people and i made some videos and
s i was pretty sure the goons were going
s to collapse like i don't know in a
s couple months it was
s so still here absolutely i'll get to
s that
s um
s so
s here we are and it's been proven over
s and over that space democracy and space
s consensus really doesn't work in eve
s yet brave was trying it and we were in
s the middle of a war and uh
s the beginning of the war went great and
s then it didn't go so great and we
s started getting our butts kicked in our
s home systems our home regions of catch
s and impasse
s and thank you initiative
s and
s so um
s you know obviously in any group there's
s going to be disagreements
s but ours leaked very publicly in the
s middle of a war in front of everybody
s and that was very bad because it showed
s me basically not telling the truth to
s the people and brave about what was
s really going on
s and that was a big bad thing to do so as
s a result
s they named me interim ceo
s so uh i really didn't want to do this
s job the war is kind of i'm hoping like
s please goons just fall apart please so i
s can
s undo this stuff
s um and for a little bit it went okay we
s uh we were aquarius and we started
s taking systems there and i was like oh
s we might actually do this we might pull
s this out of a hat like this disaster and
s then august happened and everyone
s decided uh we don't want to fight the
s war anymore we're going to go back to
s our home regions and i said i don't have
s any home regions anymore
s so we lose the war
s and
s then they made me ceo for losing the war
s so right
s so i
s you know uh here's a little picture of
s the slack where i said i'm now ceo of
s the alliance and the next thing is we
s need to get the hell out of here so this
s was a very troubling time because
s basically we had lost everything we
s owned in two regions our home regions of
s catch and impasse that we had for about
s three years and now we're losing
s everything in aquarius
s and uh it was really bad and i didn't
s know if prey was gonna survive but i was
s gonna do my best
s so i become ceo and you think it's not a
s big deal because i had been interim ceo
s but now they were really like
s no you're gonna answer every single
s question about every little thing that
s happens so this is what my day looks
s like in the morning right
s uh discord goes crazy and then we use
s slack and brave because we're modern
s thinkers and um
s and i would have these routinely like 99
s plus because it doesn't go any higher on
s the little red dot
s and then suddenly i realized exactly
s what i was talking about here like when
s i send a note to everyone in brave it
s goes to
s 3574 people
s and i don't know what really changed
s that day
s but
s when i was interim ceo they're like okay
s you're in charge what kind of do what
s you want and this kind of stuff like
s that but when i was officially ceo
s every little thing
s every issue that had to be solved is on
s your plate and this is the same thing
s for everybody who leads an alliance
s when i was on the csm we would go to
s these csm summit meetings in the before
s times
s and uh i'm sitting around the table with
s alliance leaders from pandemic horde
s test
s imperium and every morning we flip open
s our laptops in the conference room
s before starting the csm meetings and
s it's just nothing but problems and we
s joked about like let's just trade
s laptops and you solve my problems and
s i'll save your problems
s um so
s the other thing that you don't really
s get and you know i've talked to other
s leaders about this is money is a big
s thing in eve like they don't like no one
s likes to talk about it no one's like to
s talk about worrying about srp every
s leader worries about srp because a lot
s of players don't want to do things if
s they don't get srp so it's a big deal
s and you worry about money and suddenly
s you got to talk to the finance guy about
s the budget and the military guy wants
s seven keepstars and the and the finance
s guy is like you can't afford a pass
s so
s so let's go to the first lesson you know
s really is honesty and authenticity
s and um
s up to the leaks i had a pretty good
s reputation of of being kind of clear and
s honest and not really bullshitting
s people um but you lose a lot of stature
s when you lie to people right and so what
s those leaks showed is i wasn't really
s telling the truth
s um so my first thing for everyone is you
s have to be yourself now
s every leader is going to be different
s because we're different human beings i'm
s not going to be the matani and the way
s he is i'm not going to be gobbins i'm
s not going to be headliner we all have
s our own personalities you have to be
s honest to that personality right if i
s got up on saturday morning and went on a
s one-hour show ranting and screaming
s about things everyone would say what the
s hell happened to dunk
s but matani does it every weekend and
s everyone's like he's on point he's on
s fire this is awesome so you have to be
s true to yourself because people can tell
s the difference we are these amazing
s uh
s monkeys with clothes on that have been
s trained our entire lives to detect
s dishonesty
s and the whiff of it we're so good at it
s you could tell by just looking at
s somebody like oh they move their eyes
s the wrong way they're lying to me
s so
s you have to be honest you have to tell
s people what's going on
s and like i talked about
s here's the lesson i learned
s our dirty laundry aired in front of i
s don't even know how many views that post
s got
s but we misled our people about what was
s actually going on and it hurt us and
s people left
s so you can't do that so you have to be
s honest
s uh about what you're doing
s so at the end of the war um
s i was at work all day i knew the war was
s ending i didn't think it was going to
s collapse that bad as it did
s so i had a little speech written to say
s to people
s and i was wondering how is everybody
s else going to tell everybody these this
s bad news that we just lost the war
s and because of real-life meetings i was
s like one of the last alliance leaders to
s tell people what was going on
s so uh here before i give this talk a
s little sip of water here
s so uh
s i just told people the truth
s the second line says the war is over and
s we have lost
s and uh that even now i can feel like my
s emotion uh coming over me what it felt
s that day because it sucked there's no
s getting around it
s but i had to tell people what was really
s going on
s and i hadn't heard what anyone else had
s said that day i just said i'm going to
s tell them the truth
s and
s it talks about morale these first few
s things and i'll talk about morale later
s but i had to be honest with people
s because
s that was the only the only path out i
s couldn't them and say like well
s we killed a bunch of stuff so
s it's fine
s so um
s i i didn't think just by telling the
s truth it was going to be a big deal
s but but it ended up being a big deal
s like the number of people that reached
s out to me after i gave that speech and
s they heard it who were enemies the
s person who wrote this was an initiative
s who had just lost all their space and
s found and spent a whole bunch of time
s uh burning down our space they're like
s you did a good thing after i've spent a
s year and a half trying to burn them down
s right people appreciate honesty even if
s it's not your own group and the currency
s of honesty and respect from your enemies
s is you can burn that up really quick and
s as an alliance leader you have to have
s people believe that you are telling the
s truth and you're going to keep your word
s so
s uh i can't stress it enough and when i
s talk to other leaders of other alliances
s they also stress this you have to tell
s people the truth right as uh headliner
s and i just did a press interview and we
s both agreed like as soon as people
s believe you're bullshitting them they're
s going to run away
s all right next thing is about morale and
s i've talked about morale before in my uh
s c
s how to lead without being ceo
s and morale won the war for the imperium
s it wasn't ships it wasn't dreads it
s wasn't titans it was morale
s and um
s i had talked about it before and i was
s sure the goons were going to collapse in
s about two months three months how long
s could their morale as everything just
s got eaten up
s and it didn't
s and it got stronger and we had people on
s the inside and i knew their morale was
s getting stronger and i'm like well it's
s going to crack at some point it's got to
s it's got a crack
s and it didn't
s and they had achieved this amazing thing
s i mean i literally had like an article
s written that quoted the matani in his
s article about fail skating
s about like look what happened to the to
s the goons and it didn't happen
s and this the war was not won
s on the battlefield the war was won in
s morale
s and i can't stress enough for leaders if
s you can't keep your people committed and
s excited and doing things
s you are going to lose everything and
s that's what happened at the end of this
s war a bunch of the people fighting
s fighting the war
s just said
s yeah i don't want to do this anymore
s i'm bored
s i don't feel any urgency to do this
s thing
s and then they walked away
s and the war was over and we lost
s everything
s so
s morale comes in a bunch of different
s ways
s there's propaganda you can do there's
s just having a fleet like there's a
s picture here of us like just flying in a
s conga line around something like i don't
s know why people love to do that so much
s but man
s you people love a conga line
s um i think you gotta you gotta celebrate
s your wins like even if it's a small
s thing like we kick those four mullers
s ass like you have to celebrate your
s victories and you have to talk about the
s people on your teams that do the hard
s work that goes into it if you're not
s thanking your logistics people if you're
s not thanking your i.t people if you're
s not thinking you're thanking your ftc's
s the person who hits the srp button do
s you know what it's like to type in the
s srp values
s manually because there's no esi link
s it's a goddamn pain in the butt
s so you gotta you gotta talk about um
s what's happening with your morale
s um
s and then
s at the bottom of morale is emotion and
s how you feel
s and uh there's a quote by somebody
s important i can't remember it's
s no one remembers what you said they
s remember how you've made you made them
s feel right
s and it's very important uh the video
s here or the picture here is from what we
s would call john bellicose day so john
s bellicos was a pilot in brave in like
s our first year and he lost his battle
s with depression committed suicide
s and uh it was a bad day and that's where
s the broadcast for reps thing got started
s and i know his mom mom bellicose and
s every year
s uh we do a memorial this sino fleet uh
s it usually runs for 24 hours
s and uh it's far more than just about
s john anymore right people come there and
s it's about
s i'm getting choked up it's about
s everything they've lost right everyone
s has lost somebody everyone can identify
s with this feeling of
s loss and remembrance and
s depression and dealing with tough things
s and those memories stick with people and
s it's a big deal when you can evoke
s emotion in people and this year we
s thought 24 hours would be enough for you
s all to have john bellicose day but no it
s would when i think 36 hours of people
s wanted to come and just like
s on a fortazar to remember people and do
s this thing and it was amazing
s and i think wolfie's here in the
s audience how many ships did you put on
s market
s 300 400 i mean it was crazy
s so you have to have uh these emotional
s things and you have to have empathy and
s understanding for people because we're
s all humans we're not all just we just
s don't all play video games all the time
s people go through a lot of stuff in this
s life they lose jobs they lose people
s they're stuck in their house their car
s got a flat tire
s you as leader
s you have to carry a lot of that stuff
s and it sucks and it's not really fun but
s it's part of the job
s because people look up to you and they
s want your approval and they want your
s understanding and so you have to have
s some way to
s [Music]
s shoulder that
s and make them feel that you care about
s them
s and you have to actually do it because
s again if you're not honest about like
s your sympathy for people that's like
s worse than lying to him
s so uh
s what else is going to say about this
s you can lose morale very quickly like
s respect you can lose it overnight it
s takes a while to build it up
s there's a lot of ways to build up morale
s um
s everyone
s right
s some good ones here so um
s you know propaganda plays a huge part in
s it right again
s if you look at these two you'll you'll
s you'll see the difference in them right
s the papi propaganda is like we're gonna
s get the baddies right
s the imperium one is goondor calls the
s imperium needs you it's an emotional
s thing right like you were a soldier it's
s your time to stand up like we need your
s help you're valuable
s and the emotional pull and the morale
s pull of those two different approaches
s is significant
s because they did this and it worked
s they took the entire galaxy on
s and beat them because of posters like
s this
s because they got people who hadn't
s logged in in five years ten years to log
s in
s that's morale
s we talked about emotion
s every group has their own uh i'll
s probably mispronounce it so french
s speakers close your ears raison de etra
s like your reason for being like what it
s is did i get okay with the french no all
s right sorry
s look at the frowny face is over there
s i'm sorry i'm poor american
s um
s you know every group has its own reason
s for being and what they think is
s important and stuff like that in bray
s it's like i really want it to be about
s having fun like
s life can be hard and suffering and all
s that and i want people to log in in the
s morning or the night and just have some
s fun that's our thing every group is
s different right
s snuffed out is going to be one way the
s imperium is going to be another whatever
s you people do in wormholes sex parties
s whatever it is i don't know but it's a
s different thing
s and you got to reinforce that you got to
s keep reminding people like what you're
s all about
s um
s and if you start to see the like failure
s cascade of doubt start to occur you have
s to stop it right away that's what
s happened at the end of the the world war
s b
s vietnam
s is people started to doubt that the
s goons could be beaten and they're like
s well i'm gonna get out of here and then
s it cascaded it was one group and another
s group and suddenly we had lost the war
s so you always have to be raising morale
s you have to think about it you need good
s artists you need people that understand
s the value of propaganda and morale you
s need merch i mean it's it's an important
s thing
s all
s right the next one is really
s uh it's really about trust i put
s delegation because delegation is based
s on on trust
s um
s you
s ha you cannot do all the things you
s cannot carry the one ring into mordor by
s yourself
s you may feel like you have to do that
s and you're the only one you trust to do
s that but it doesn't work
s i tried it doesn't work
s we lost the war so
s the toughest thing is trusting people
s and trust is very important in eve
s um
s it's important at two levels for you one
s you have to trust your own people and
s you run the risk of being betrayed and
s you will be betrayed at some point
s that's just eve what it is
s but you have to start trusting more
s people to do things or you will get
s burned out or you will burn out other
s people
s and this was really hard for me to do
s because
s when the war was going on before the war
s there were only two of us in the entire
s alliance that did any of the
s infrastructure work of anchoring things
s and
s fueling things and man i was tired of it
s right we had three regions we were
s trying to keep going
s and you're just burning yourself out and
s when you're the leader
s you saw my discord i don't have time to
s fuel everything myself when i have to
s deal with that discord so you have to
s trust people
s in your own group
s and be okay eventually it's going to
s turn on you it's not the end of the
s world
s but you have to give them your trust
s before they they really are going to
s move forward on it
s the other part of trust is you're
s dealing with the other alliance leaders
s and so
s um
s i had known a bunch of the alliance
s leaders before
s uh i became ceos i was kind of friendly
s with them
s but i think that people like you don't
s understand like it's like when you're
s alliance leader and you're not talking
s and you're talking to another alliance
s leader it's not this formal thing it's
s not this is brave actual calling
s pandemic horde actual like it's not like
s that
s it's just casual stuff like you've met
s these people you've drank together you
s know them
s and your word is your bond for the most
s part and so
s if i'm going to talk to another alliance
s leader and i need a favor and in discord
s they say yeah i'll do that i got your
s back
s you have to trust that they're going to
s do that because things could go horribly
s horribly wrong
s so you have to have this external trust
s to people who are your enemies to people
s who are your friends and all this kind
s of stuff
s and again
s in eve so many people have been smacked
s so hard that you're wary of that stuff
s but as alliance leader you have to give
s the trust to other people first
s i i wasn't sure when i was selling
s keepstars because they were going to get
s blown up otherwise
s can i trust them to do the deal this is
s a lot of isk we're talking about
s and i had to say well i don't really
s have any choice they're just going to
s blow it up otherwise
s so
s uh i sold the keepstars to people and we
s transferred it and uh they gave me the
s money and i was like really happy that
s it worked but it was the start of the
s trust thing you have to do
s in going forward
s i've talked about the space work for the
s ccp people in the room there's a goddamn
s lot of space work
s no seriously
s um
s [Applause]
s so uh
s spake where is important and because of
s the way the game is made we do a lot of
s tricks to prevent stuff from getting
s stolen and flipped and all this kind of
s stuff and so
s there's no end to space work
s whether it's you're working on the i.t
s team and we have a constantly evolving
s esi
s or you got to fuel things or like
s whatever it is there's just a ton of
s space work to be done you have to dole
s it out you have to trust people to do it
s and you got to make sure you don't burn
s those people out
s this for me was the absolute hardest
s thing was to stop doing the thing i had
s been doing in eve for like three or four
s years every day
s and just say
s uh
s is everything fueled yeah yeah we got a
s month's worth in uh do we have enough
s liquid ozone yeah yeah we got it we got
s it and then to not go check like oh man
s that was really weird
s so
s giving up direct control of doing things
s is again
s like in life like in a real business
s people get promoted up the food chain
s because they're doing good at doing the
s job but at a point they become the
s manager they're not expected to do the
s job anymore
s it's just like that in eve
s you kind of go up the food chain and
s then you're in charge
s and suddenly
s uh
s you know you can't do that stuff anymore
s all right so i don't even know what time
s it is i don't know if i blew through
s this too fast uh
s but i'm open to any kind of questions
s you want to ask
s and i will
s i will try to answer them
s [Applause]
s check check okay good evening um
s we've uh we we monitor your channel a
s lot
s so uh although nothing brave
s um
s in many alliances the leader is the fc
s what do you think about that
s i think if it works for that group it's
s probably a good thing uh i i can barely
s fc anything i think the last thing i fc
s was like bringing atrons into 1dq so
s again it's very specific to your uh
s group
s of what you're all about um
s i
s i don't know how people do the fc'ing
s and they do all the other stuff you need
s to do with ceo myself but people
s obviously pull it off
s so if it works for your group go for it
s i personally can't do it
s i just can't pull that off and i don't
s know how to fc well
s hello i'm wake from init um sorry
s first of all thank you i would like to
s thank you for
s the way you behave in your sota et
s cetera that everybody can watch and you
s always always had a
s quite moderate uh
s position and not non-toxic etc as
s compared with some other alliance
s leaders who are constantly spinning
s their defeats i think of you work at
s your soul but i suppose he's not there
s today
s so i have just a very simple question
s and i admit it's it's not
s easy but just yes or no um do you think
s that brave choose the correct side
s uh during the war and if no no it's
s no it's a it's it's a fair question
s actually would you do the same if you
s were in the same situation or would you
s would you flip side what do you think
s about that
s well i have thought about this
s particular question
s an awful lot
s um and i would like to say i would have
s been smart and known how things were
s going to go
s and i would have said like we're going
s to opt out of this right in theory but
s then i'm being very honest with myself
s i i was 100 sure that goon morale was
s going to crack
s and i was going to scoop up all these
s corpse i had told the recruitment people
s get ready we're going to scoop up the
s corpse hey maybe let's go partner with
s initiative like i was sure they were
s going to crack
s so
s well i'd like to say i would be super
s smart and i was enforced into it and all
s this kind of stuff
s i i thought the morale would break like
s how could it not
s they were losing systems left and right
s the amount of titans that were getting
s brought like
s it just doesn't like
s it's a it's a crazy thing that it went
s the way it did
s i i can't be honest in saying in
s hindsight oh yeah i could have seen that
s coming like nobody could have seen that
s coming
s so okay thank you
s any other questions
s i i don't know if you're recruiting
s do you have
s any ideas or thoughts about
s shares as an online ceo
s yeah they're like share so the question
s is shares in so those that haven't seen
s the not touched since it launched
s corporation panels in eve
s there's this feature that probably made
s sense in the beginning that there were
s going to be shares of a corporation and
s we were somehow going to give dividends
s and it was going to be like a stock
s market
s and you know i think still hilmar still
s wants it to happen somehow i don't know
s but it's like this most dangerous thing
s in the world because if you don't
s understand the mechanic and you get a
s director and they can like create shares
s and like
s dunks going on holiday let's take over
s the alliance like
s like
s i don't know i mean maybe it's just one
s of those like eve is hard suck it up but
s seems like a really weird feature that
s uh has been abused in the past that i
s i would love to trade shares with a
s corporate and have dividends work all
s that way it's just
s it's like about
s one-fifth baked at this time 19 years
s later so
s not a fan
s any other questions
s oh here they come
s i'm some andy i'm in it as well um i
s just wondered do you have any how do you
s see the future of nausic at the moment
s because obviously they're still
s is still crystallizing shall we say
s what's going to happen do you have any
s idea and where do you see brave in that
s future you know you just seem to be
s getting solving things again which is
s great it's nice to see building up is
s you know where do you see
s the political picture if you like of eve
s at the moment
s well for brave right now my sole goal is
s to not get evicted again so um
s that's what i'm trying to do and then
s for
s the rest of eve and i've made my
s thoughts on this public so it's nothing
s new
s right now the way the game is designed
s and the mechanics of the design are
s the optimal thing to do is to join the
s largest possible group you can and so
s we've seen the creation of these mega
s coalitions
s um you know there's three or four major
s coalitions now that are just enormous
s and um
s it's hard to argue that it's not the
s right economic security all the right
s move is to join one of these mega
s coalitions
s if we hadn't been burnt so hard and so
s like uh
s you know uh
s damaged by what we did in the war
s it would make sense to do it so the game
s reinforces the idea that
s security is best when you have as many
s supers and titans as possible uh you
s have the best uh industry you have the
s best things rigged because you have the
s money coming in so right now that's a
s game design thing that is reinforcing
s these mega coalitions i have no idea how
s to fix it
s but i just see that continuing on for
s the next until something changes at that
s level
s um rowa so
s we know each other very well so i have a
s couple questions for you um first
s what would be
s in your eyes that your biggest failure
s and also your biggest success in game
s uh
s biggest failure
s um
s well there's probably two things that
s come to mind one is basically when we
s were falling apart catch like not being
s honest with people about what's going on
s um and then the second thing was jumping
s into m2 with my titan
s um
s yeah yeah i've only done the work in the
s build once
s um
s i think the the biggest thing is still
s what's going on now like uh when it was
s last august and you were there
s i didn't know that brave was going to
s survive
s we had lost
s every structure we had lost
s corpse
s norman quit
s everything was falling apart
s we didn't have a huge war chest of like
s isc
s to lean on
s and
s i had to basically beg for some space
s just to like
s go to
s from other groups and if they had said
s no i don't know what would have happened
s the fact that it's what nine months
s later and we have a place to live and we
s have some regions and our wallets going
s up
s in my view it's a goddamn miracle right
s i kind of feel like i want to like okay
s like i want to finish the season and
s walk away as ceo and like say somebody
s else handle the rest right because
s um
s so
s just not falling apart like we watched
s so many groups and legacy fall apart
s we've seen other groups since the war
s ended that weren't even really in it
s fall apart like
s it's uh
s it's rough to keep an alliance together
s and you had corpse leave you had corpse
s not that many join but it's getting
s better and there's
s constant change right
s yeah you got to be okay with chains yeah
s like it's going to be constant and and
s the other the other question i have for
s you is that um like you i'm i'm rowa
s from from industrial uh mining and
s mayhem my son and i started the corp
s together so we kind of have some of the
s shared experiences that you're talking
s about as an alliance ceo but just as ceo
s in in our corp and so
s i know that in game you have
s different aspects and different
s viewpoints of how the game is if you're
s a pirate you have specific if you're an
s industrialist you have this view
s what's the biggest thing that you would
s like to see changed
s in game
s with your viewpoint as a ceo of an
s alliance
s um
s well the easy answer is like i'd love to
s see the m3 of everything in the game
s smaller to make hauling easier
s but um
s take note devs the popularity of that so
s you want to you want to be ant-man
s yeah i would like the ant-man ray um
s i think
s and again i don't have an answer to this
s right like uh brave is a big group i
s can't complain that we weren't given a
s fair share but we got by because i had a
s reserve of people that like we lost a
s bunch of people but i still had enough
s people to defend things and we could
s anchor fortizars and do stuff if you're
s starting a new alliance if you're
s starting a new corp and you're trying to
s do some of these things in eve right now
s like ankara fortizar
s unless you're beholden to someone unless
s you have an agreement with someone it's
s not happening and so there's like a gap
s between the people who have enough power
s to play the big game in eve
s and then everybody else
s and then you know my concern with these
s new structure changes is it's really
s hard to make the leap to
s i don't have any space i don't have any
s solve to i can anchor a fortazar like
s that gap is a big gap so i don't know
s how to solve it but i think that's what
s i would like to see is
s that a hundred people could get together
s and take some space and do some stuff
s and have fun and get into the into the
s into the big game of eve
s thanks doug
s [Applause]
s all right any other questions or
s did i do that
s do you see an opportunity
s with the uh announced faction warfare
s development
s outline
s for a group like yours to see a
s resurgence in sort of a feeder and and
s new player development corporation with
s how faction warfare is going to be
s you're going to allow to be dedicated
s your alliance or other groups to faction
s warfare in the future
s uh the the devil's in the details i'm
s real excited to see you know what the
s idea is if there's the ability to uh
s hey i'm in brave but i want to go also
s fight for the caldari and that's just my
s personal choice and it doesn't trigger
s the whole alliance can't go into gal uh
s kalente space it might be awesome
s uh i think the devil's in the details uh
s instantly when i heard it
s when aurora was talking about it was
s i'm going to have one pilot on the
s galente side and another pilot on the
s caldari side and they're going to fight
s each other and then they're going to
s argue and then they're going to come to
s me to solve the problem
s so
s i think i think there's
s i think there's hr managers across new
s eden right now just like
s face palming like how like they can't
s even mine in the same system what are we
s going to do
s the factional warfare
s i have another one um
s is there like a leader back channel
s where you guys bring each other problems
s and speak somewhat off the record like
s if you say my alliance or coalition is
s having this problem and i
s want to know ways to solve it and you
s can actually talk to these other leaders
s without them going back to their
s corporations saying how do we exploit
s this is there any discussion about
s learning from each other from that or is
s eve way too cutthroat it's far too
s machiavellian like for that
s i mean everything is a transaction right
s like
s if i want some information from nora's
s like i gotta give some information back
s like it's transactional it's
s machiavellian we can still be friends
s and respectful uh to each other
s but it's not
s it's it's not like we're holding hands
s in preschool and like let's solve the
s problems
s um
s i'm just being honest like everyone
s wants an advantage everyone wants a leg
s up
s um
s you will uh do a lot of you know hey did
s you see this cool thing that happened
s and that starts a conversation then you
s slide in what you actually need to know
s there's a there's a lot of that kind of
s stuff right or you get on the csm and
s get them drunk at night and ask them
s questions
s any other questions
s so the question was have you ever had an
s off the record conversation had it
s respected it does happen to some degree
s if you can agree to it those will
s typically not be in discord in chat
s where someone can screenshot it it would
s typically be hey let's just talk on the
s phone about this and then you'll have a
s voice conversation with someone right
s um
s so it does happen
s um
s you know last night we were at the
s lebowski bar
s and
s there was a bunch of influential people
s hanging out drinking beers with their
s heads together like it's you know
s yeah so it does it does it does happen
s from time to time it's just not the norm
s and i could never go to somebody
s if it was a broad problem like hey the
s esi is messed up how did you guys solve
s it like yeah i can ask that
s i can't say like uh this fc did this how
s do you treat fcs that suck like like you
s can't ask that
s yeah all fcs are awesome
s um i have a question about inactives yes
s so when you notice that players are not
s logging in or maybe corpse
s entire corpse aren't logging in
s what do you think is the right amount of
s time to wait to see if they come back
s um on on the one hand you might think oh
s it's nice to have lots of numbers in my
s corp or my alliance
s but on the other hand if you notice that
s people aren't logging in you kind of
s want to kick them maybe
s what's the right
s how do you deal with inactives
s i'm probably the wrong person in the
s wrong alliance to ask this question
s because we're notorious for having not
s had any kind of activity kick or things
s like that we just recently did do one
s though because like
s our numbers on dotland of how many
s people we had didn't really reflect so i
s think we went back like two years if you
s hadn't logged in in like two years
s and you didn't like for us it's like if
s you don't have a title or we didn't have
s some reason that you were like part of
s the original crew or that like trying to
s you have a titan or a super somewhere we
s um we were like
s we're going to do this thing if it's
s your alt like let us know and then we
s purged several thousand people
s in a day so we don't do it as
s religiously as some groups
s other groups are just absolutely
s by the book ruthless about it and it
s works for them but
s it's just a lot of goddamn work to keep
s track of like
s who logged in when and you know whose
s alt is this but
s and then the funny thing is every once
s in a while we'll do a purge and then
s i'll get a note from somebody in another
s line it's like man you kicked my spy
s you know he'd been there for years you
s know
s okay
s other topics
s all right i think uh we're gonna oh you
s have a question
s the question is how are my bees my bees
s are very good
s i'm gonna when i go home i'll be able to
s go inspect them see how they're doing i
s have very good climate for my bees so
s they're pulling in honey already which
s is awesome
s i wish i was hearing for more evidently
s there's icelandic beekeepers so i would
s love to see that
s okay
s with that i will wrap this up i really
s appreciate you coming sitting through
s the technical difficulties at the
s beginning
s have a great fan fest thank you
s you
