164s a mouse and keyboard player

169s like playing with the controller right
171s and I'm not telling the difficulty down
172s though I'm just gonna continue being on
174s nightmare difficulty so now it's truly
176s going to be a nightmare for me uh in the
179s best way possible and I'm happy to
181s Showcase this so as I'm showing you know
183s these details on controller this is also

189s um a sense of how the navigation of the
191s menus is done and and all that fun stuff
195s um every now and then I will probably
197s accidentally hit a particular cheat
200s um and uh yeah that's just gonna happen
202s um I'll do my best not to if it shows up

209s so I swear I've been practicing so it
211s doesn't happen oh gosh anyway
214s so uh where were we at we are in the gas
217s field we are uh flying a Reaver which is
221s a sentinel right I'm not crazy yes cool
224s it is in fact a sentinel
228s you're absolutely right Adam and we were
231s we just hit level 16 we got a couple of
234s goods uh we have the sarkov signal
236s decoder oh my gosh look at all these
238s valuable things I'm excited
241s um but in regards to like teasing
243s content today there's definitely a
245s chance
246s um we've been talking a lot about like
247s additions that have been made to the
249s itemization and you're gonna see more
252s it's it's just gonna happen so when we
254s do we'll talk about it we'll share that
255s so that's gonna be kind of your fun
256s little teaser stuff but again main
258s highlight today is going to be using a
260s controller
261s um and
262s hopefully showcasing some degree of
265s Excellence through that
267s um last but not least uh we're gonna be
271s answering questions the entire stream
272s per usual we want to make sure that you
274s have any of your thoughts ideas
275s suggestions questions concerns whatever
278s um to be embraced and loved by our team
281s no matter what degree or capacity unless
283s it's like way off topic and then will
285s probably not discuss it but of course we
288s want to make sure that you are well fed
290s with information
291s and feeling good about everything that's
294s been going through development so as
296s we're picking ourselves up uh we are
298s flying uh with a let's see
302s let's try to use no we want to use our

307s and I'm just going to be highlighting a
308s little bit of the movement a lot of
310s standardized movement uh using
312s controller is very similar to what you
315s can do on the mouse and keyboard now
318s you'll notice that my viewport is
321s actually completely locked to the middle
322s and this is how it works standard
324s whenever you're playing via controller
326s you can change this there are options to
329s change this within your controls there's
333s lots of different things that you can do
334s to adjust this
336s for now I have a couple settings that
339s might annoy some people but I kind of
341s like it we have automatic rolling that's
343s on and I have my Boost Behavior set to
345s hold some people say boost Behavior
347s should be set to toggle on controllers
349s and you know for the most part I
351s actually do agree but because I'm so
353s used to everspace one's controls being
356s like that and I played a lot of
357s Aerospace one via controller through
359s play testing I kind of default to those
361s sort of settings so that's what I'm
364s going to continue to use my auto aiming
366s strength is down to 0.39 that's got to
368s get changed we're going to fix that uh
371s otherwise we we did uh
374s uh but yeah the way that you can
376s actually change the uh location of the
380s uh
381s is that a mouse oh that's the Crosshair
383s behavior in the mouse and keyboard
385s um so Gamepad doesn't have the ability
388s to change how it floats
390s you can change it the floating behavior
394s only for mouse and keyboard so this is
396s not something that's akin to the con the
398s consoles it's very much centralized for
401s your ease of access
404s um but we do have like all the access
406s inversions Galore
408s um as well as again we've got the
409s automatic rolling boost behavior in the
411s force feedback
414s um the controls will looks very slightly
416s lightly different between the Xbox and
419s the PlayStation uh control schemes
421s namely the biggest difference going to
423s be the iconography of course so as you
425s can see I am using an Xbox controller
427s today
429s oh so much information right out of gate
432s uh just giving you all the infos that I
435s can possibly give
439s and now it's time to start doing some
441s stuff

446s I remember if we explored underneath
447s very much here but it looks like we
451s probably didn't because I know there is
453s some stuff to find
457s so a quick note on the auto rolling
460s Behavior so in a lot of cases it's a
463s little inconvenient to try and roll in
466s any sort of six degrees of freedom with
468s a controller a lot of times you more
469s have like this movement where your ship
471s kind of turns like this and then you
473s turn like that and we didn't have that
475s particular style
477s instead we have a very precise
479s control-oriented sequence of events when
482s you're moving your analog sticks again
484s though you can adjust this there's
486s different
487s um default input methods
490s that you can see here and they give
493s everything on the screen as of right now
495s I do believe I'm using the default which
497s is the uh the original everspace C
501s it's called Gamepad scheme Ace you can
504s see exactly what my capabilities are on
506s this front
509s it's all there
515s and uh yeah
518s lots of things
520s lots of stuff to immediately know it's a
522s little overwhelming probably
524s especially if you were originally using
526s mouse and keyboard and jumped over to a
528s controller all of a sudden
535s so lots and lots of accessibility
537s options there to to get things to your
540s liking in fact I see one more thing that
542s I want to adjust because I have the
544s center dots shown
547s and I want to hide that I know it's my
551s body is blocking with you but but that
553s just makes it to where
555s that little square the diamond in the
557s middle isn't being blocked doesn't have
559s a little dot in it it's just ease of
561s access honestly it's off by default I
563s turn it on for mouse and keyboard mode
567s Let's do an unknown signal just to kind
569s of test our strength on the controller
576s being a controller player myself the
578s stream should be fun oh good good yes I
580s am I am very hopeful that all of you who
584s play more significantly with mouse and
588s keyboard or excuse me with controllers

707s in general again I am very largely a
709s mouse and keyboard player
711s um but the the key reason why we're
713s doing this again is to show you the
715s visuals on screen so that you can see
717s how it's going to be engaged with like
719s all the tools and how the accessibility
721s operates
722s um like especially in the various menu
724s options
726s um just so that you can see very clearly
728s the methods of connecting to what you
732s need there was a conversation very
736s is earlier today actually in Discord
738s somebody was asking about a digital
739s cursor and we do not utilize that system
742s there's a number of reasons why
744s um I think probably the biggest reason
746s why is internally we don't feel that
748s that is actually a very useful feature
752s um there are games that can pull it off
753s but in general they can seem a little
755s bit sluggish and disorienting and for us
757s it just makes a lot more sense to just
759s be able to move over left and right from
761s wherever you're pointing at
763s and of course you also have the ability
765s to cycle between different tabs and
768s still for the most part get pretty uh
771s pretty where you need to go pretty fast
774s through this method there's also nothing
776s jarring or or weird or even waiting on
779s in the sense of a digital cursor that we
783s just we didn't want to do we didn't want
785s to go down that rabbit hole path
788s on our pleasantly surprised by how this
790s all operates
791s so cool

796s so we just cleared out that little bit
798s of items for us it's time to go into the
803s space however I'm going to try and
806s I think there were enemies over here

1088s have it to where it's hold it's how I
1089s like it for most people you don't want
1092s that you'll want it to be a toggle I'm
1093s just saying that right now

1097s but as what I might do is change this to
1101s where this is my thrust forward and
1102s backwards
1105s I'm gonna see I'm gonna see what happens

1122s this is my forward and now when I'm
1124s using the left analog stick it's my

1175s they were the default controls for
1177s Aerospace one so if you guys are coming
1179s over from everspace one what you'll end
1180s up doing uh is exactly what I just did

1185s um it's going to be your customized
1186s controls over here in the select preset
1190s and you'll be able to change it here so
1192s it says right there it says original
1193s everspace a so just the default and in
1196s the original everspace it was everspace
1198s a
1199s um but here it's changed to the GamePad
1201s scheme B right-handed
1204s ironic because I'm left-handed don't
1205s worry about that

1399s cheesing this is an all for nothing sort

1411s scared
1413s because I want to keep this stuff
1415s it's just going to rely on my skills and
1417s abilities which is terrifying

1579s not technically be the proper fit for a
1581s new game that you're playing and that's
1583s fine that's why we oh gosh
1586s that's why we incorporate that so that
1588s you can customize the controls to your
1590s liking and those different control
1592s schemes are absolutely available on the
1595s consoles once they get here next week oh
1598s next week

1604s control I look over a chat Alec did most
1606s of the work that's a hell of a band

1652s nonsense of controller play and support
1655s and we're gonna get into probably some
1658s itemization but I really don't want to
1659s hype this stream up for the sake of our
1661s console players so if you can direct
1663s your questions more for that side of the
1666s um the space for now that would be
1668s really appreciated
1671s but uh that being said Gary what do we
1674s got
1674s what types of questions are coming in uh
1678s we've got one that kind of touches on
1679s both PC and console uh from I am the law
1682s 42 over on Twitch and the ones who know
1685s are there any notable differences
1687s between the PC and console version
1690s there shouldn't be hardly any if at all
1694s any
1695s um the biggest change is going to be
1696s kind of like the menu navigation as a
1698s whole
1699s um particularly like on some of these
1701s screens because like for example you're
1703s not going to have a mouse and keyboard
1705s option here on the consoles you know
1708s um but everything is going to be almost
1710s one to one uh perfect parody
1715s I say almost because there are a couple
1718s of I guess I'll call them ongoing sort
1721s of issues that we're still kind of
1723s running down hopefully we'll be uh taken
1727s care of in the in the console release
1731s and a couple more that we're still kind
1732s of tracking down just overall from a
1735s standpoint of um
1738s the PC side with the Game Pass version
1741s they're not the PC uh steam version and
1744s The Game Pass version are not
1746s technically one-to-one parody there is a
1748s slight difference between the two but
1750s we're looking for solutions to help with
1752s dlss issues
1755s um with the um
1757s Uh Oh shoot what are the what are the
1759s other things it has stuff to do with the
1761s win GDK
1763s and hopefully we'll have solutions for
1765s that
1766s um
1767s you know decently soon

1817s possibly look like it might be more work

1821s transitioning to a new project

1828s to wait on that one together uh and you

1846s how does the gunships alt turret
1849s prioritize targets does it always Target
1851s closest enemy if the player is not
1854s targeting any enemy and when fighting
1857s bosses they feel that the turrets
1858s sometimes keeps shooting targets even
1860s though that they have the boss targeted
1862s and the boss is within the turrets range
1865s they said they can understand if the
1867s prioritizes mines if the ship has that
1869s passive but most of the time they find
1871s that the turret chooses targets randomly
1874s okay
1875s um that is a very technical question
1877s that I love but I am going to need to
1880s get further feedback from whoever
1882s designed the turret AI I don't know if
1884s that's going to be Marco or Hans
1885s Christian or maybe even somebody else on
1887s the team
1888s um but I will follow up with you on that
1890s one um I believe he also had a pretty
1892s technical question in a recent stream as
1895s well and I asked you to go to the
1896s Discord and ask the question there and
1897s then I was able to follow up if that was
1899s you do the same if it wasn't you still
1901s do that um because I want to make sure
1903s that we're answering these questions and
1905s again I do think that's great for what I
1908s understand I do think that it just
1909s targets whatever is closest and it goes
1912s with that it doesn't have anything to do
1914s with whatever the player has targeted so
1916s if you were hopeful on some sort of
1917s adjustment on that front I don't believe
1919s that's how it worked but again I do want
1921s to be able to answer your question a
1923s hundred percent accurate so I would love
1926s to follow up with you if you give me
1927s that opportunity again just post that
1929s question on the Discord and I will do so

1937s wondering about will there be any new
1938s additions to locations like new secure
1941s containers in the future for the
1944s standing locations like you know all of
1947s all the ones that you're accustomed to
1948s we really don't want to we don't want to
1950s like go back into those and and like
1953s change things around right and even
1955s adding stuff to locations is in a way
1958s changing so we don't really want to
1961s we don't really want to I think at best
1965s what you would see are more side
1967s missions maybe pop up in the future
1969s possibly but even that is something
1971s that's a bit on the table so in general
1975s if we're going to add new content it's
1977s going to be from new locations right as
1981s opposed to going back to previous
1982s locations and like changing things
1984s around and adding new secrets and stuff
1986s uh that that tends to make things a
1988s little bit more uh fickle and perhaps
1991s annoying uh in in some ways so we're
1994s just being kind of gentle on our
1995s approach to that
1998s just being gentle on our approaches that
2001s so good question

2009s I am the law of 42 over on Twitch again
2011s uh have we ever considered remaking
2013s everspace one with our current everspace
2016s 2 technology
2018s well that's kind of fun um I mean that's
2019s not a conversation that's really been
2021s drawn up so much but
2023s um I'm I am incredibly confident that in
2027s the future you know once once Rockfish
2030s is is making the zillions of dollars and
2032s we're like the standing AAA studio and
2034s all type of stuff uh yeah we'll probably
2036s do like a super Mastery of Aerospace one
2039s through a thousand uh package deal ten
2041s dollars yeah absolutely
2044s um but uh for now I think it's going to
2046s be a while if we were to do that

2051s I I do think it sounds awesome to have
2053s like everspace 2 controls implemented in
2055s everspace one but the reality of it is
2058s that we need to work on the project
2060s we're working on and if we're going to
2062s work on any other projects
2065s um there's some really hard questions to
2067s ask regarding that everspace one is
2069s truly not that old and I don't think
2071s that it would get a lot of Life breathed
2073s into it simply by making some of those
2076s subtle adjustments
2082s excellent right
2084s um unknown over on YouTube uh no will
2088s the content up there that's coming out
2089s later release on consoles and PC at the
2093s same time
2095s that's certainly the plan
2097s we have every intention to keep the
2099s parody between all consoles and
2102s platforms to be as close as possible if
2107s not perfect across again like that's
2110s that's the desire that's the goal
2112s um so even in the case of like Game Pass
2114s like we've had internal conversations
2116s about how we can mitigate some of the
2117s the delays between like the steam branch
2120s and the game you know the game pass
2121s version right so like there are
2123s discussions there like we want that to
2125s be as cohesive as possible
2127s um and that that is what we will attempt
2130s to do so all of the the console versions
2133s um you know we talk about the free
2134s content update yes that applies to the
2137s console versions that's not like a PC
2138s exclusive ordeal um the premium DLC out
2141s in the future yes that's also going to
2143s be possible on the consoles like it's
2145s not exclusive to PC
2147s um all of that stuff anything that we're
2148s doing to everspace to the game it will
2151s be accessible to all the platforms and
2153s consoles that we are pointing towards
2158s excellent and finally uh slurry
2161s intestine over on YouTube are there any
2164s console specific issues that will or
2166s have influenced the PC version
2171s that's a very curious question
2174s um the answer is yes I don't really know
2176s how much detail I should uh crack into
2178s here but um the short of it is that
2181s development as a whole anytime that you
2184s are doing anything on any any place if
2189s you're gonna move to another place
2190s there's going to be some sort of
2193s technical challenge in order to do that
2196s um and it might not be the way that you
2197s think it looks
2198s we'll keep it we'll keep it nice and
2200s simple so
2202s um yeah

4716s it's called haptic feedback where
4718s depending on how much you're pushing or
4720s pulling or moving a button or analog
4724s stick in a particular direction like it
4725s gives you that very strong sense of
4727s control and this is something we're
4729s incredibly pleased about and looking
4731s forward to seeing how our console player
4734s base responds to it because we very much
4737s enjoy it and again like I'm a PC uh
4740s mouse keyboard player like through and
4742s through and yet there is just something
4745s you cannot beat about this like you just
4747s can't you can't you can't beat it like
4749s this is the best right here you only get
4752s it from a controller so uh yeah top

5327s triggers the trigger and the the bumper
5330s on the one that I prefer when you're
5332s able to move like this from the analog
5334s stick that's your forward and back and
5336s on the default one when you're moving

5870s so annoying when your controls for your
5872s left hand go one two three four five six

5877s think my finger is how can
5881s um so I changed mine
5883s um is it possible yeah it's on the
5885s default controls that you can do the one
5886s two three four and then five six seven
5888s eight for your consumables but as you
5889s can see I've actually modified mine so
5891s it actually looks like I'm using a
5893s controller on the right side mine is
5895s bound to uh my mouse four button so
5898s whenever I want to use a consumable
5899s instead of pushing five six seven or
5901s eight I hold this down and then I just
5903s push wasd very accessible from my left
5907s hand as opposed to reaching over and
5909s going oh shoot where's the button where

5916s it's a hold for consumables and then on
5918s the left side I have my buttons for

6183s bringing the rain in the form of smoke
6186s and pain and destruction and all things

6331s know uh the first game was a rogue light
6332s and the second game is a semi-open world
6334s one uh have there been any other genres
6337s that uh you've played around with or
6339s that you'd like to expand into I think
6342s this is a really cool question
6344s um and I think the very simple answer to
6347s that is we would be delighted to explore
6350s what you know the Aerospace franchise
6352s could look like from a number of genres
6354s and mediums for that matter
6357s um that just comes down to what we're
6358s able to produce and uh the time that we
6361s can do that and because we are you know
6364s I I get that we're pretty strong Little
6366s Indie Studio but we're still a little
6368s studio and we have to devote our cause
6371s accordingly to make sure that things are
6373s well within our skill set or experience
6375s and within you know the plausible
6378s outcomes and so if we are to explore and
6381s experiment a bit too much on that front
6382s we're not going to get anything done and
6384s then we're going to have a number of
6385s people who are uh unable to keep their

6454s um I I love it whenever this uh the I
6456s think it's called The Pigeon stare it's
6458s the legendary beam laser whenever you
6460s can capture a shot when one side's
6462s triggered but the other one hasn't yet
6464s so the idea here is that one of these
6465s beams is not charged up but the other
6467s one is and the way that happens is if
6469s there's a misalignment as you're
6471s shooting because it charges up as you're
6473s hitting a Target so here he was charging
6475s up by hitting a target with one side and
6477s then brought the other one in so then
6479s the first one got fully charged or the
6481s other one isn't there yet making them
6483s look like two different weapons almost
6484s that's just a cool sort of uh
6487s visual effect and I think it was nice
6489s for you to capture that just showing
6491s that a little bit also congratulations
6493s on completing that Rift what what Rift
6495s level was that was that uh

6749s the company name actually comes from the
6752s stalwart nature of Michael and his goals
6756s so from where he was before uh to where
6762s he is now the only way that he could
6764s endure is basically being
6767s unbreakable and the Rockfish is known as
6772s a creature that is very much like that
6774s uh the Rockfish is strong it's
6777s bolsterous it's um you know it's it's
6779s hard to crack if you will
6782s um and so echoing the sentiments of the
6785s actual creature itself the Rockfish um
6787s just was a perfect fitting for where
6791s Rockfish was actually established from
6793s the the history of
6795s where a lot of team members actually
6797s came from
6799s we won't be breaking we won't be
6801s breaking we won't be broken we have very
6805s specific goals in mind that we are not
6808s going to uh
6811s we're not we're not going to sell like
6812s our integrity is too much for us to just
6814s be bought and transform our creative
6817s goals in mind like this is something

6820s process of everspace one I know you guys
6821s weren't behind the scenes but there were
6823s plenty of times where you know Michael
6825s and I would have conversations and even
6827s hear somebody say like well if they did

6834s lose our creative rights like we didn't
6837s want that to happen we know what we're
6839s set out to be and we're Rock Solid in
6842s regards to that movement forward so uh
6846s we're continuing that formula of course
6847s and we do we still think that the name
6849s of the company quite fits especially in
6852s how we approach

6856s um and uh we're also incredibly uh
6860s humbled by our community that also is
6863s just so dedicated to the cause who's
