Hey :)

Got the game, love it so far. If I had only one criticism it would be how some "II" weapons are actually not that great compared to the original.

From what I could test:

  • Flak II is objectively worse than Flak I. Increased firerate but insane spray meaning you don't hit as much and you do something like half the damage per shot. I understand the Flak II is meant to be better to deal with groups (drone groups, Okkar swarm), but even for that, the Flak I when properly upgraded is way better because it has way higher damage. I lost a few runs by thinking that the Flak II would be a direct upgrade for my current setup. To be honest I'm pretty sure Flak I will get fixed because it's so very superior to everything else to take out fighters.

  • Thermogun II and Thermogun I should be reversed. The thermo I is the ultimate anti-shield and that's extremely important when currently the Okkar have very strong shields and weak hulls. It only takes a few seconds of Thermogunning and 2 light missiles to end every non-elite Okkar Fighter variant. On the other hand, Thermogun II is very hard to use, the charge up time means you have low dps and on the 10 shots you can fire, maybe half will miss if not more.

Those are the two main ones I came accross. Overall I think close-range "charge" weapons are very hard to use (Scatter gun) because enemies will move very fast at close range.

Any other weapon where you think the II is actually worse than the basic version?

Hey,

There is a lot of confusion concerning the "II" designations of weapons (understandably so as we haven't had time to finalize the equipment names and descriptions yet).

First of all, "II" only describes an alternative version while "Mk#" is a straight upgrade. In case of weapons it often means that there are certain tactics or mod combinations required to use the weapon at its fullest potential. E.g. fire rate mods are less effective on a Shock Rifle II as it gives you less time in bullet time to aim your shots.

That being said, the weapon balance is far from being finished and very much a work in progress, so we appreciate feedback like this. Thanks :)
