I started playing Fall Guys when it first came out. At first, it was just a game. Nothing special. It was "the stupid kid's game" that I enjoyed playing occasionally.

Then, on September it 7th of 2020, I had a stroke and video games took a back seat. I had to relearn how to eat, and to walk, and to do everything else involved with living life. I was fortunate enough to recover quickly though. By December of 2020, I was able to do a lot of things they didn't think I'd be able to do again. Gaming though, was still a struggle.

Fall Guys was a game I had played with friends before the stroke but not with any real regularity. One day, while looking for a game to play that might be simple enough for me to remember how to play, we stumbled on Fall Guys. It was the perfect match. It was a game I wasn't great at before the stroke so when I sucked at it after the stroke, I didn't feel a sense of loss like I did with games I used to be good at. It was was also kind of... fun? Like really fun. If I didn't have a doctor's visit or therapy of some kind, I was hoping to be playing Fall Guys.

Believe it or not, this game played a huge part in my recovery. I process things a lot slower than I used to and the kind of repetitive nature of the game helped me learn... albeit slowly. It was also an easy enough game to play while talking about life and so it helped with my speech therapy as well.

Fast forward to this weekend, The Glizzy Gang Showdown. Last time the showdown was here I tried my best to get the costume but ultimately fell short. The people I play with aren't played with because of their skills lol, they're played with because they're my friends and we enjoy gaming with each other. When the Gizzy Showdown came back around, I decided to try my hand at using the LFG Discord channel. Every person I played with this weekend was incredibly kind. I was surprised. I've played with LFG players before and in my experience, kindness was not a common result. I got the costume but decided to keep playing with randoms found through the Discord and the last group I found asked if I had Infallible. I laughed. I haven't even tried for that achievement because I knew it wasn't possible. Thank you for proving me wrong Koala and Hotdog. I am more grateful for this than you know.
