Will this fix the stuttering/freezing I have on Hex since Season 2?

Yeah that's the 'FPS drops' one that should be fixed in the hotfix

Truth. The way that bit is worded sounds out of touch at best, condescending at worst. It feels like it isn't a mandatory feature in an online game.

Why should we not be able to distinguish people apart?

We have a new system that we're rolling out soon - which will allow players a more customised name - but it won't allow players to type anything they like in.

We had Steam names in previously, but people were using them to add all kinds of offensive and obsene names. It's not a priority for us right now to start up an arms race with censoring vs. people trying to skirt around the censoring system.

There's no levels added in this tracker because it's not a complete roadmap - it's focused specifically on bugs and issues. I want to try and avoid adding things to it that will never be removed or solved. We're always going to need new levels and content, and we're working as hard as we can to increase how much we're able to add!

Can ultrawide and actually-playable-refresh-rates be next? Cheers.

I'll add ultra wide monitors to the list - but - I don't think anyone on the team actually has an ultra wide monitor to actually test this with. They're not super common still.

Added it to the issues tab, thanks!

it's gonna be choosing from a predetermined list of words isn't it?

it's been more than 2 months and this is the best thing you could come up with

It's just not been our highest priority when you compare it to working on new levels, fixing bugs, new features, quality of life stuff...

Complete slap to the face. Basically confirms what I’ve been feeling for weeks you absolutely don’t give a shit about PC players now that you have our money. Gotta focus on milking those console players now. Thanks for the nameplates. Hope you bought yourself a kebab or something nice with my $40.

The only difference between console and PC versions of the game is that the Steam version doesn't allow custom usernames and PlayStation version does...

Sony has a censoring system. Steam has no censoring system.

We don't want our game to be full of obscenities and offensive names.

It's a really wholesome and positive place, and we don't want that to be ruined.

Sony takes care of this on PlayStation, so it's not an issue.

I'm not sure how that means we're "absolutely not giving a s*** about pc players"

No. This is what happens when you barely talk about something for months and give your PC player base no heads up on what's going on. The assumption for months now was that Mediatonic was working on getting the Steam names back in the game. Not a system where we choose a name from a premade list. If this was what was being worked on as some kind of solution why is today the first anyone has heard of it? Why not actually communicate with players and tell them what's going on? This is a problem your company seems to have and it's not getting any better as time goes on.

Did you tell players that Season 2 would launch with only 4 levels way ahead of time so they would no what was coming? No. You waited until the day before release to say anything in a throw away comment on Twitch. Did you tell players that about half or more of the Season 2 shop so far would just be banners & nameplates? No. Did you tell players that there wouldn't be anything at all really in the shop that even matches the medieval theme? No. Did you tell players that there wouldn't be a game mode to replace Gauntlet Showdown? No. Did you tell players that you would be making changes to levels like Hex-A-Gone that made them almost unplayable for people that now you're having to revert because the changes weren't needed? No. I guess I'm just expecting a company to try and keep players informed of what is going on and know things that are being done about issues we've talked about for months and not just be kept in the dark until the last second or worse.

I say all of this as a player that has well over 300 hours into the game so I'm not somebody who has just played a couple matches and wants to join in the dogpile. Your company needs to do a better job at communicating with players ahead of time. There is a time for being funny and a time for taking things seriously. This is the latter. At times it's almost like pulling teeth to try and get any info at all about what's being done. That shouldn't be happening.

Sure, but you're saying this on a thread where we're trying to be way more open and transparent with what we're working on. This is us trying to communicate better and share more info on our priorities. We've launched this issue tracker to try and be more upfront and open about progress on community issues.

I’m glad this is happening, but again, I feel bad that efforts were made on stuff that weren’t broken in the first place and now it feels like we’re getting those fixes as rewards.

That being said, I’m happy you’re listening to us and I’m looking forward to more and more and more! :)

I think it's just a case of different departments/people being responsible for different things. The VFX artists working on the Hex-A-Gone effects again, they couldn't have jumped on something new necessarily. I think these effects were something that was always planned... And they just haven't quite got it right the first time, so they're dialing it back. Hopefully, in the end, its an improvement to the game!

People say "spend less time tweeting and more time fixing the servers" to me, for example, and my entire job is Community management. I am not allowed near the server code lol.

I think our priorities do actually match those of our end users, it's not actually the most complained about feature.

If you look through the list of things in the hotfix, those issues have been more complained about than player names.

It's very important for a kids game to avoid bad language. Spending 3 days typing a list of words with numbers (4ss, sh1t etc.) just isn't the most important thing for them now.

Thanks, I think some people are underestimating how creative people can get with offensive names and how easy it is to bypass filters if you REALLY want to be offensive.

I don't play the game anymore until ultrawide is supported. I find it incredible that in 2020 it is not supported. And more and more people are buying ultrawide screens.

Edit : Downvoted for no reasons

On Steam Hardware Survey, it looks like 2% of players have them, so it's still quite a small amount. I've added to the list though, hopefully we can support it!

2% on 7 millions copies is about 150.000 players. I understand it's not a big percentage, but it's a good amount of players and the number will increase over the years.

We had a UW support when modifying the DLL before the anti cheat. So it shouldn't be hard to implement it. But I am not a developer to judge.

Sure, it's not something we don't want to support, and I totally get the importance! It's just something that's been trickier as nobody on the team has an ultra wide monitor. Maybe I should buy one 😃
