(As I’ve written this I realise it sounds like but of a rant, so I’d like to preface it by saying I love Season 4 so far, but this does need addressing)
While I assume this was unintentional, the tweaks that have been made to the qualification numbers for each round has had a considerable knock-on effect on the frequency of certain levels appearing more or less often in the Main Show.
Games such as Team Tail Tag, Hoarders and Egg Siege are far more common in the 2nd and 3rd rounds now that it’s more common for 44, 33 or 32 people to qualify from a round. And this isn’t just me crying about levels I dislike appearing more often, having 33 people qualify instead of 30, for example, means that 3-team games such as Hoopsie Daisy, Rock N Roll etc that have a max of 10 players on a team are ruled out for that round.
Team Tail Tag went from being an incredibly rare game to showing up in every third or fourth show. Not only is it one of the least popular levels, but it also eliminates just 25% of the players in that round. This consistently leads to larger numbers qualifying for the 3rd and 4th rounds and consequently having finals of 14+ people. This then eliminates half of your finals from being able to appear because there are too many players!
Also, while I can’t confirm this 100%, I’m pretty sure they’ve increased the probability of the new levels showing up in the Main Show again, based on how frequently I see them appear. I honestly don’t think I’ve played Fall Ball once in Season 4 because any time there is an even number of people in the 4th round, it will almost certainly pick Power Trip or Basketfall. What is the point of having a dedicated playlist for the new levels if they’re just going to appear more often in the Main Show?
TL;DR- The Main Show should be about variety and giving all the levels a fair chance to appear.
