My favorite is when the community says "hey we feel this way about these things" and he says "well yeah but from a marketing perspective..."

I usually answer that way when people try to give advice on how I should be running the twitter or specifically criticise something we've done as a marketing beat

I try to explain the reason why we do things, even if it's something they don't like. Isn't it better to try and give context rather than just "okay, thanks for letting us know you don't like it"... Or is that a better approach?

oliver has had his chance for long enough now and he screws up just as much. all he shows is unprofessionalism and immaturity. as community director, he posts no news, updates, issues or fixes. he just does memes and stupid crap trying to be funny. right now, he’s posing as a penguin that talks like a child. it’s embarrassing for this company when no other game is being represented this way on social media. he’s supposed to be the link between players and devs and he’s awful at it. in this case of ‘don’t shoot the messenger’ the messenger has already shot themselves

I pass everything along to the Devs that the community is saying. I don't decide myself when to post updates about the new season - that's always a collaboration with the marketing and publishing teams. Do you really think I wouldn't tweet the date of a new season or show videos of the new content if I was able to?

I generally rely on posting memes and things to reach a new audience and keep things ticking between seasons.

Season 4 has been super long, and bugs take a while to fix, so there's not as much updates and news as I imagine it would seem

I'm really not trying to brag when I say this also, but the fall guys twitter account is much bigger than many other games - even games with way more players than Fall Guys. Yes, I post differently to other game accounts - but that's worked on super well for us and is intentional

I do agree that i think communication and context is better than none.

I do also think that the community has pent up frustrations beyond this situation that doesn't create a winning scenario for you guys given the game's past; because people are going to tell you why this decision/situation is frustrating to them, but often times by that point the bucket is overflowing and its actually not just that thing that they're claiming they're annoyed about anymore

Very true, I notice in a lot of these threads there are lots of past grievances too

Hopefully, things will improve as the team continues to grow and we slowly move towards patching out all of the legacy issues

I hope we'll be able to get back to shorter seasons too - I think things are worse as the season has been particularly long this time around - we really need some new levels and content. I can't wait for Season 5!

Did this guy really just try to brag about Twitter followers 🙄 meanwhile the game is down to like 6k on steam... like seriously have u no shame?

Who cares about how well ur doing on social media if it doesn't translate into players....

It was in response to critique about how the account is run - I was saying the number of followers is proof that even if some people don't like it, it's not run badly

Why is it every post you get so defensive when people call you out. Honestly all you do is criticize your player base and despite having 1.4 million Twitter followers based on likes and retweets there are 1-2k max people who actually interact. The rest couldn’t care less. Honestly they should just fire you and use your salary for developers to get stuff fixed

I get defensive when people are either personally criticising me, or criticising my work. You're literally saying I should be fired, am I just supposed to say thank you for the feedback.

Yes you should thank me for the feedback because I’m not bootlicking and pretending everything is fine when every patch things break more. see that’s the problem you take everything personally when no one is personally attacking you. I don’t know you personally I just know you’re doing a terrible job as community manager. You don’t Communicate. You still haven’t apologized for screwing up this weekend. You would rather accuse your players of just being made for wanting to crown farm when they are mad you put in a RNG show as a half assed fix. Sorry but part of your job is taking the hits when things go wrong. That’s part of any job that deals in what is essentially customer service. You could just do a better job. That would solve a lot of problems. But no. You attack your own community and blame them for things that should have been fixed months ago and you probably wonder why your playerbase is on life support. You are doing a bad job and need to find something better suited to your skills. This role isn’t it. If you had a shred of empathy you would understand why people are pissed at you because all you do is deflect blame. Be a man and actually accept some responsibility you are the voice of the team. Even if you aren’t personally coding and fixing stuff you are the representative. Sorry you took a job where you thought it was all butterflies and rainbows thinking yay video games what could go wrong. You need to face facts that you and your team are a major part of the problem. We have to pull teeth for any information. If you aren’t digging through this subreddit you would have no idea what is going on because you can’t even tweet updates. No developer comments no road map. Just bert tweeting he can’t fly.

lol

"see that’s the problem you take everything personally when no one is personally attacking you."

but also just in this one response...

"you're doing a terrible job as a community manager"

"you don't communicate"

"you could just do a better job"

"you are doing a bad job and need to find something better suited to your skills"

"all you do is deflect blame"

"be a man"

"people are pissed at you"

"You need to face facts that you and your team are a major part of the problem"

and then your other responses...

"you run the twitter like a high school intern"

"Oliver is a terrible community manager"

"he treats it like a joke"

"he needs to go"

"you attack your own community"

"oliver doesn't care"

Cool, thanks for the feedback, and for not personally attacking me.
