So, I've played all day today, essentially, and have to say that, while I'm having a blast, I agree with what a lot of people on here are saying. That there's not a lot of gameplay outside of forced PvP in survival currently.
I do understand that this is PvP mode, and am all for everything about how this mode works, minus the context of the "top 3." Displaying people who have lived the longest on the map is not really doing anything but forcing everyone to have to take a turn at being the server whipping boy.
On the other hand, making the "Top 3" based on the number of players kills this life would effectively give you the same arena of people who want to throw themselves into PvP over and over, with the possibility for PvP being available if you stumble upon someone while exploring, but isn't forced on to you while you're just trying to get some of that sweet, sweet extra XP.
These are just my thoughts after having to hold out a few times against the best geared players on the server, after I was foolish enough not to just throw myself into the PvP meat grinder. I don't mind having to occasionally fortify myself against players much more geared and higher level than myself, but every hour, at least, is too often, and for no real good reason.
Honestly, what I would love to see is more faction based gameplay, with maybe bounty quests for most wanted members of other factions, or resource gathering/item retrieval quests that overlap with other factions, causing organic skirmishes to emerge, with more potential for character flavor. Just my two cents.
TL;DR - Change top 3 from longest lived to most players killed per life to make PvP more voluntary, and give even more impressive "bragging rights" to people who PvP. What do you guys think?
