As soon as you equip any armor it takes your Atom shop clothing off. Kind of defeats the purpose of bringing the outfit in at all.

You're spot on! Armor replacing your apparel in Nuclear Winter was an intentional design decision. We did this so that it's easier take note of other players' silhouettes and quickly get an idea of what you'll be up against in a fight.
