A bit of backstory. For the past fifteen years my family has owned a black cat named Jack. He was a grumpy cat, but we loved him to death. Sadly, he passed away this august.

His passing hit me particularly hard. I’ve kept up the routines we used to have when he was around, I mistake lumps of clothes on chairs for him out of the corner of my eye, and overall am still not over his loss.

And then Bethesda released a bundle today that had a black animatronic cat in it.

So I purchased it, expecting it to be this static object that moved its head or something (like how inanimate the animatronic clown is) But when I got to the cat, I couldn’t help but smile, as it sits the exact same way Jack did. (And all cats do, but regardless) And then when activating it, I couldn’t help but grin at the animation. One, because it’s a very good animation that I enjoy, but two, it’s very similar to how Jack would get up, stretch (I know that it’s meant to be a spooky angry cat pose) and then sit back down.

I know it was just designed as a spooky cat that fit the Halloween theme. But regardless, it hit me a little harder than it was intended to. So thanks, Bethesda for giving me a way to properly honor my late kitty. (At least until pets are added)
