If you are in Adventure mode and switch servers without leaving the world first you might end up switching game modes as well. This likely only happens when you join another player. I am on Xbox and you can join someones server from their Xbox profile, used often from the looking for group trading posts and such. If you choose to join someone and they are in survival, you will be put into survival with no warning.

I ran into someone trying to scam players. He posted that he was buying bulk (for 75 caps each which was my first flag something might be weird). I messaged him to see what exactly and he said alum, steel, wood. OK then he offered 75 again and told me to join him at 76. I always switch servers before travelling anyway, so I joined on him but spawned at my base as normal. I then noticed the player has killed play notifications scrolling and realized I was in survival. Then I opened the map to see loot bags galore at Vault 76, and then the player I was going to trade with show up on the kills notifications. I noped out of there immediately. I'm just glad I didn't travel to 76 first then server hop as I would've been spawn killed and lost the junk.

Bethesda please ensure players know that they are being placed in a survival mode. Perhaps the current confirm join screen that pops from the main menu should pop later like the camp cannot be placed screen so you can confirm before fully loaded in but also have the chance to leave if you didn't intend to join survival.

This is a pretty simple way to trick someone into instant death and seriously needs to be dealt with
