External link →It's simple. It's the game as a whole again. The delete the old file so they can install a new and better packed file. Almost every publisher does this when they change big things in the background. It's much easier for them. Future patches would be smaller then because the already put out a newer version. Things like pre planned events are also on there, so they just have to launch it or set it on a timer.
At last some hard to fix bugs can be fixed by that too. Since they can overwrite it with a new file now.
Beth has an old style of less patches but bigger updates for content and/or cleaning up and fixing bugs.
Nailed it! Today's download size is much larger than normal as a result of this work, but it's a good thing for the game moving forward. You're correct as well that patch sizes will return to being smaller after today's update.
