[2020] I Was a "Random Act of Kindness" Recipient.

I’m sure people are getting tired of the “this community is great” posts but sit down, because I have a story to tell.

I was in Limsa the other night and was greeted by a random cat girl who tried to trade with me. If the trade is not intentional, I immediately decline. So that’s what I did. It wasn’t to be rude, but I have been trolled this way before… Anyways, after I declined she went on her way. I watched her for a minute after that because I was waiting on a DPS queue and she went to another person, bowed, stood there for a little bit, bid farewell and then ran off to another person. I sent her a /tell trying to be funny (which I’m not) asking if she was FC recruiting. She didn’t respond. Then I saw someone she was talking to let out a cheer so I asked them what they were cheering about and they said that they were just randomly given a bunch of gil. I asked why and they just said “I don’t know, she just said welcome back to the game and then gave me money.” Then it registered, she was running around to people with returner status and sprouts, and I have the flower over my head. I sent her a tell again, apologizing for my lame joke because I realized she was just trying to be nice. Then she returned, and initiated a trade again. I accepted and what popped up in the window was a crafted level 76 weapon. And I was still using the level 70 Scavean one. This was not what I was expecting at all. Gil would have been a nice gesture, but to specifically craft something for me was next level kindness.

We completed the trade, she welcomed me back to the game like she had the other person, and then before I thanked her, my queue (that had been waiting for 30+ mins) popped and I accepted it as a reflex but before saying anything. Got thrown into the dungeon, feeling really bad now because I can’t send her a tell and she will think I am an ungrateful jerk. Then it occurred to me, I’ll have her name in the chat window so I’ll just say something after the run. Get to the second boss, and DISCONNECTED. Chat window wiped.
