[2023] Fortnite's Summer Showdown Callout! 05/2023

Summer’s all about fun and games, especially team vs. team games. In the Summer Showdown Callout, set the stage for summer fun by showing us your best island that’s a team-based, combat game. Some of our favorite islands will be featured in a special Discover row during July! 

ISLAND DESIGN GUIDELINES

We’re looking for:

• Team-based, combat-focused experiences. 
  • Inspire us with your very own take on classical combat modes like Domination, Capture the Flag, Zone Wars, etc.
  • Focus on highly competitive games that you and your friends would love to compete in for bragging rights.
• Innovative and boundary-breaking designs.
  • Include a twist in your game.
    • For example, a Capture the Flag game where the capture point moves or a Domination game where the capture zones are way high up.
  • Have an interesting elimination mechanic. 
    • For example, players are only eliminated when critically hit, or players who are eliminated can still help out their team. 
• Environments that set the mood.
  • Well designed, beautifully executed environments will make your island stick out from the rest.
  • Use your environment to set the theme for the gameplay.
    • For example, a Deathmatch game may include lava inside an erupting volcano. And a Search & Destroy game may take place in outer space and have players destroy the engines of enemy spaceships.
• Thoughtful level design. (See the “Level Design Best Practices” document for reference.)

SUBMISSION CRITERIA

• Only one island per creator will be accepted.
• Make sure your island follows the specified island design guidelines above.
• Submissions can be existing islands.
• Islands should be fully functional, use devices well, set effective boundaries, and be highly polished. These qualities make for a better player experience and make your island more likely to be featured. 
• Prioritize innovation and the use of newer devices. 
  • Show us your take on a team-based, combat-focused game.
  • Never-before-seen island designs and a creative use of devices will certainly grab our attention.
• Each submission requires a video overview.
  • Submission videos must show a fly-through of the entire island and one round of gameplay.
• Promotional trailers are encouraged.
  • Including a captivating promotional trailer for your island is not required but highly encouraged. (Video overviews are required, however.)

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ISLAND

The island submission window starts May 8, 2023, at 10 AM ET. Submit your Summer Showdown Callout island through the Creative Content submission form, making sure to select the drop-down option for “Summer Showdown Callout.” Submissions must be submitted before 4 PM ET on June 9, 2023.
